I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

When you say "turns off", do you really mean turns off or do you mean screen goes black?

Hello guys! First of all, english is not my native language, so I hope I won't make too many mistakes. As stated in the title, I own the Lenovo Yoga 500 - 14IBD. Whenever I move the display inwards it gets black for a little while (maybe 1 - 2 seconds) and then gets back to normal. I don't have this problem when I move the display outwards. I guess I has something to do with the switiching between tablet and normal mode? Does somebody know how I can turn this off? My guess is that some sensor is broken. I wouldn't mind uninstalling some drivers if it helps (I mean I can switch manually between tablet and normal mode in the settings). Thanks in advance for any help!

o__o it's acting really quite odd...

my laptop was purchased in jan. 2004. it is a dell inspiron 5100. up until recently, it has never really had any hardware issues. but this is just obnoxious!

note the sometimes. if i move it from room to room while it is powered on, it seems to be perfectly fine. i also play maplestory. but sometimes the movement or button-pushing freaks my computer out. sometimes, however, only sometimes it will do one of three things:

1. it'll stop on one screen and just freeze the whole image there.
2. it'll stop on one screen and freeze the image, then fade to a purple-white.
3. (and this just happened the first time tonight) it'll suddenly go into bad-tv-channel type mode. like black and gray lines going (moving) across the screen.

i've compared it with my dad's laptop, same brand, same model, that was purchased two months after mine. there are only two physical differences i could find.

1. when i move his computer screen, it's stiff. it will stay exactly where i put it. mine, however, moves around. it doesn't like... fall over or anything. but it really has quite a bit of give. i'll position it in one place, and if it doesn't like it, it'll fall back a little.
2. a while back, the plastic piece that you stick the headphones into broke into several parts. and i couldn't manage to get one piece out of the hole. i'm hoping that it's not lodged in there somewhere... >_> bu... Read more

A:laptop turns off when moved sometimes.

yeah it sounds like possibly a loose connection between the computer and the screen. Based on when you bnought your computer, you should call Dell on this one, since you are entitled to lifetime phone support on hardware issues. If your warranty is still in effect, they'll replace any parts that need replacing, otherwise, they'll sell you whatever you need, or tell you how to make your existing parts work.

Ok heres the problem. Every time windows start firewall turns off and then back on (sometimes it stays turned off for longer and sometimes not).

I'm using Windows XP. I don't know if this is useful but about a week ago I had something that's not exactly a virus but spybot recognized it, it's called NewDotNet and I removed it with some trouble and now every time computer starts I get a message, something like: Can't run *something*/newDotNet.dll does not exist. And I remember removing that file with killbox. The window where the message is showed is called RUNDLL and the process is called RUNDLL32.EXE.

Also, yesterday Ad-aware found a keylogger and I removed it (don't know if it has anything to do with firewall like, it sends passwords when I start the computer or something).

P.S I scanned the computer with Ad-aware just now and it found nothing but MRU lists.

If anyone could help me i would be very grateful.

My laptop,Toshiba Satellite A105 about three years old, has two problems. First, when running it randomly the screen clicks off. Seemingly the computer is off but the power light never goes out indicating the computer sis not turn off. This is especially true when you move around. That problem on its own, I would think its a loose connection.

However, the other more aggervating problem is that the laptop will not turn on/boot up. With full battery power, plugged into the wall or not, the power led lights come on but the screen never does(not even a flash or backlight) and windows never boots because I never hear the start up sounds. When this happends there is power to external ports,i.e.USB ports. I hear the fan running and the CD drive being checked but nothing ever happends. I have to manually hold down the power button until the device powers down and retry startup. I can try for 20-30 minutes and then sddenly it boots up like nothing is wrong. I have checked my power save modes, run PC Diagnostics and run SpyBot, checked for malicious viruses. I have all avaliable updates for Windows XP. Nothing I do seems to show any sign of a problem and then suddenly, randomly the screen cuts off again.

I am ready to open the laptop up and pull out everything but I wouldn't know what to look at. I have worked on desktops with my father growing up but I have no experience with looking inside a laptop. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi, My battery seems to hold a charge very well. However, the problem is when I try to move my laptop on battery power; it suddnely turns off. It also shuts down when jostled or bumped. The battery is great when the laptop is stationary. I noticed this problem when I move from one class to another: The Aspire V works great during class, but the moment I shut it and put it in my backpack it shurts down and I need to reboot it for the next class. The laptop is great when it is plugged in. This seems like a hardware issue but I don't know what to do. Thanks for your help!

Hello everyone, I've had many problems with my laptop lately and this time it's quite significant. I discovered today that my laptop completely shuts off when unplugged. I then plugged it in and tried again. It turned on. Removing the plug while the computer was still on, once again instantly shuts it off. Several more retries and it's pretty clear I cannot use my computer unless it is plugged in. I don't know if this is just an issue of a faulty battery, or if something else is at work, but I was wondering if anyone had any advice. Mind you, the laptop is only 3 months old.

My laptop has been doing this for a while now, the screen will turn off after only a minute or two of idleness. It's really annoying if I'm working on homework and I'm writing something down when the computer just goes to sleep on me. I have checked all settings, even advanced, and it's all set to at least 30-35 minutes before the computer should go to sleep. Now that I think about it, it seems to happen most often when the laptop is plugged in to charge. Sometimes restarting the computer makes it stop doing it for a while, but often it won't help. I took screen shots to show all the settings that may affect this, and that they're all as they should be. I've even tried contacting the Lenovo tech people online, and I've had someone remotely look at my computer, and they weren't able to figure out what was wrong. Does anyone have any ideas on what to do? I'd like to avoid sending it in for work if possible.

For some reason now that I want to watch a movie on my TV through a HDMI cable the notebook powers off. No image appears, just goes completely dark and turns off. I updated the drivers. I have tried many different televisions (both expensive high quality tvs and not so good one) and HDMI cables and still the problems persists. I even factory restored the notebook and still shut down when I connect the hdmi to the laptop.  Could it be a harware problem? Can I replace the HDMI port on the notebook?

I'm having an annoying problem with my new Yoga related to the display and have not seen any other posts with a similar complaint so perhaps this is a simple fix that I'm just not able to sort out on my own. My display turns off after 1 minute of inactivity. The only means for changing behavior like this that I am aware of is through the Control Panel Power Options. My settings for "turn off the display" are 10 minutes on battery and Never while plugged in (note screen shot attached). Regardless of my settings, the screen turns off after 1 minute. I've changed the settings to multiple configurations and restarted with no change in behavior. Perhaps there's some other settings area, maybe something specific to Lenovo that I'm not aware of (since this is my first Lenovo laptop). Anyone with similar problems or insight?

A:Yoga display turns off after 1 minute

This may be a Windows 8 issue. I finally fixed this problem by identifying the screen saver as the issue (and I wasn't using a screen saver). Type "lock the computer" into the search box after clicking the search charm, which brings up the screen saver dialog box. Mine was set to 1 minute, though I'd never set it myself. If you can't change it, choose a screen saver and you should be able to do so (and can then switch back to no screen saver). BUT, here's the problem. Other things you install (or settings within things you install) can apparently change and override whatever you type in for the delay time. Try applying your new time and exiting from the dialog box, then open it back up again. I was finding that it kept going back to 1 minute. To reset things so that you can get control again, type "user accounts" into the search box and when the dialog box comes up, choose "Reset Security Policies". Then you can go back to the screen saver dialog and successfully change the delay time. See http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/windows/en-us/ace4085a-b0ba-4a98-898d-cd92d9e88e13/window... for some detail.

I have had this problem since new. The only solution is to keep the yoga 3 on a desk or somewhere where it will not get moved. Needless to say all the features that are tablet and tent features are out of the question. When this happens only a power button reset will work, This will even occur when booting up if the computer is moved. I am certain is has something to do with the sensor that detects screen orientation. At this point, I am thinking poorly of Lenova as this problem along with some of the keyboard keys becoming hard to register are combining to make this product appear generally cheap/defective. I did read something about turning off the Intel Rapid Display SSD link if I quoted that right, which I did, but the problem still persists. BTW I have seen a few posts where a similar problem occurs but the mouse cursor still responds, but in my situation everything freezes, even the mouse cursor, zero response to anything.

A:Yoga 3 Freezes when moved

I think you may have a hardware problem, could be something related to HDD or the complete motherboard.

My advice would be to contact Lenovo Support and ask them for a repair. Please note that it is extremely important that you provide your problem details (freezing on moving laptop), othewise they wont be able to identify it.

Hi there,  My Lenovo Yoga 710 IKB 15'' Laptop has had many problems. The fan was making noise and I started a topic here that was ridiculously marked solved when it wasn't, and now I have this new problem. For some reason, my screen has been blinking white (see attached pictures). Sometimes the white screen is blinking, sometimes it stays for a few seconds and other times it's not there at all but is clearly still an issue. I have already updated both the Intel and NVIDIA display drivers and when I run a scan I'm told there are no updates available. When I run a game or anything that requires the computer to switch to using the NVIDIA card, there is also a buzzing sound coming from the side of the computer, although this is not present when the Intel card is being used (the white screen appears no matter what I'm doing or which graphics card is being used).  I like this laptop but these are really too many problems. I bought this as a replacement for another laptop as I'm a student who really urgently needs to use a computer. Is lenovo going to fix this??

A:Lenovo Yoga 710 Screen turns white

I didn't see or respond to your first thread, but the temperatures (42C idle and 65C gaming) see normal.  85C or 90C is a high temperature under load but not temperatures in the 60's.  (Most CPUs, desktop or laptop, have thermal shutdown when a CPU hits about 105C.)  The thread said to contact support and gave you a support document to reference for fan noise.  Your fans would be running when your temperatures are in the 60's, but not at high speed.  Did you do that?  I didn't mark it solved, but if I read the questions and the response, I would have thought the issue was solved, although someone should have said that 65 was OK.  If you had posted back and support couldn't find the support document, that would have meant that it wasn't solved.

Regarding the white screen,  you are going to need to contact support for warranty repair.

I have received the product a month ago and I experience the following issue daily: The screen starts to turn on and off, flickers and the image moves and looks like a split screen.  Today I could capture a video of this behavior - the video has an intro where you just see Netflix - at sec 29 you see the switching off/on the first time, then again clearly at sec 48-50 (moving image on the left-hand side looking like a split screen)  I don't know how to reproduce this issue. This is what I have observed:- today it has occurred after taking the device out of sleep mode with the chrome browser open, laptop not plugged to power. - The other day the issue started while holding down the right mouse key, the flickering made it impossible to use the device. - other days the issue just occurs randomly and disappears randomlyNormally not even a hard reset will help (but today it seemed to help) Does anyone know what this could be?All the latest updates are installed. A couple of weeks ago I did a clean install of Windows 10, and it has been running smooth since then. The last day, Windows 10 has been freezing constantly. After som digging, i realized Windows was freezing when i moved the laptop (not shutting down or anything, just picking it up from my lap was enough). I have tested my theory several times, and every time i lift the laptop up from the surface it freezes. It only happens in Windows, tried running the recovery application (outside windows), and I can move the laptop freely without it ever freezing. Any clues? Edit: Oddly enough, this behavior only happens when the WiFi adapter is enabled in Device Manager. I can add that yesterday, after the system froze, the wifi adapter disappeared from device manager all together. Had to disable/enable in BIOS to get it back.

I'm truly at my ends dealing with this issue, and searching without luck for a fix. As stated above, I've got a 2015 era Lenovo Yoga 12 (S2?) 20DK that has been used on and off over the last 18 months. About 6 months ago it started; while flipping the screen from laptop mode to tablet mode, the screen will flicker a few times and after completing the transition to tablet the screen is off. Won't power up, nothing. Now during the act of flipping to tablet mode I can stop at certain points before folding it totally flat into tablet mode, and it will work fine (keyboard/mouse disabled, screen rotation works). There seems to be a sweet spot at about a 45 degree angle in tablet mode that it works fine. Even like that, if I even bump it a little more towards full on flipped back tablet mode, it'll shutdown. I've just been ignoring the problem for the most part but for a new job I started I need it to go into full tablet mode. Everything works fine in traditional Laptop Mode. I've tried updating the Driver, BIOS, and Windows.I've disabled the Sensor Data Service and Sensor Monitoring ServiceTried using a strong magnet on different points around bottom of bezel to "fool" any sensors Nothing is working. But, as soon as i remove the external display, the laptop shuts off immidiately and doesnt turn on. The next step is to revert back to the basic display driver to continue using the laptop. Have to go back to safe mode and rollback to previous driver. The reason why i need to update my display driver is because the brightness is stuck on full.  Also 6 months ago i had to replace my screen because it cracked, but it was working fine with no issue for several months. Suddenly the issues just started occuring. Any suggestions on whats wrong or cwhat i can do to solve this issue, much appriciated!

After getting a couple blue screens I am having the following issue:

When I turn my computer on, the fans and drives all start up. After approx. 2 seconds the computer shuts itself off. After another 2 seconds the computer turns itself back on again. This time it stays on but i have no monitor output. I don't hear a beep which tells me it is probably not posting.

I have read a few other threads that have a similar issue but not the same. I am thinking it is either the mobo, GPU, or PSU.

I would like any guidance and assistance that you guys can give me on this specifically what i should look at first and how to diagnose. Thanks. system specs below:

ASUS P5Q Pro ATX Intel Motherboard
Intel Core 2 Duo E8500 3.16GHz LGA 775 65W Dual-Core Processor
EVGA GeForce GTX 260 Core 216 896-P3-1265-AR Video Card
Antec EA650 650W Power Supply
OCZ 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 1066 (PC2 8500) Dual Channel Kit Memory

A:Computer turns on, turns off then turns back on but has no video output

Motherboard Short

I have helped somebody who had a similar issue and it was the motherboard being shorted out by the case. We took the motherboard out of the case and it booted up just fine. Something you might want to try before purchasing new components.

Hello! When I connect my Yoga 900 laptop to my Samsung external monitor using a USB-C/HDMI adapter, the laptop screen flashes black and the external screen does nothing. Between the flashes I can see my desktop background goes blue and every program/file that is open begins popping up and closing on repeat. Nothing ever shows on the external monitor. The only fix is to unplug the two, but if I let the laptop flash for more than about a minute it eventually goes black. When this happens, unplugging it from the monitor does nothing and it has to be manually restarted using the side button. As noted in other forum solutions, I manually updated all video and chip drivers.I have tested the monitor's HDMI port, the Yoga 900's USB-C port, and the HDMI cable itself. I have also tried a different brand of USB-C adapter. Pressing Windows + P doesn't seem to do much, as I can see the menu between the flashes and click "expand" but nothing happens. Any idea what else I can do? Thank you.

I have an external DVD CDRW drive that keeps being added then removed added then removed. That is all that it does. You know how Windows XP does. It plays that little two tone sound each time a device is added or removed...it is so annoying. I cannot use the drive as it does not stay "added" long enough. I am stumped...I have never heard anything like it. Have you?

A:External DVD CDRW Drive turns off, turns on, turns off...etc.

Did the unit ship with drivers? ?
It also might be a cable issue. Inspect that cable or try a new one and or another USB port. If you have it on the front of the case try it on a rear USB port. I've seen machines where the front ports carried less power than the rear ones.

patio.
