No power - Qosmio X770 died

Q: No power - Qosmio X770 died

While working at my laptop which was connected to mains power it suddenly died nothing works or lights up. There is power going into power adapter. I let sit for some time but still nothing . I received no warning of power getting short if it had switched to battery or something. A completely dead laptop. Anybody any ideas what possible cause could be . I fear it could be expensive. Thx

Preferred Solution: No power - Qosmio X770 died

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A: No power - Qosmio X770 died

When you have the power adapter plugged in, does the power LED light up on the notebook?
If no, its probably a Mainboard problem. A Toshiba repair center can replace it but it may be expensive.

Is it true, that the X770 can handle 16 GB of RAM???

As far as I know it depends on hardware platform. I?m not 100% sure but Toshiba offers X770 as model PSBY5E and max RAM on it is 8 GB.

Can you please send specification for X770 where we can see that it can be upgraded up to 16 GB of RAM?

I have a Qosmio X770 with two 4GB RAM modules installed but the system details show that the total system memory is 4.00GB RAM.
It also shows only 4 processor cores when there are 8 shown in device manager.

If I take out either RAM module, the system still shows 4GB RAM.
Either chip in either slot shows up as 4GB but nothing I do can get the system to show 8GB.

What is going on?

A:Qosmio X770 - 4GB RAM not shown

I assume you are using Win 64bit…

The 64bit OS is able to handle more than 3.2GB RAM… so probably the issue is related to wrong settings in the msconfig.
Go to msconfig (in search type msconfig)

In the “BOOT” tab click on the “Advanced options” button.
Then Uncheck the Maximum memory box and click OK

Then the max memory limit should not exist.

Hi All

Please help me here. i have just purchased the Qosmio X770-107 Laptop, and I have set up the 3D as per the Nvidia settings. Now I am trying to get the 3D movies to play. On the laptop it has a few sample clips (movie trailers), which I am trying to watch to get the 3D to work. The Nvidia comes with a sample slide show, and the 3D graphics work perfectly with the supplied glasses.

Under the User Manual, Toshiba states that one must use the pre-installed "Toshiba Video Player", which supports the 3D playback. I have opened that and and changes the settings under 3D to the L side and R side playback, to convert to 3D. It cannot be the glasses or display drivers as I mentioned above, the Nvidia supplied slide show works perfectly.

But the problem then comes in as the sample clips do not open in that player. The clips only open up in Windows Media, but then it has a LH screen and a RH screen. (I hope this makes sense).

Is there anyway of opening these files in the Toshiba Player to enable the 3D playback? I do not want to go out and waste money buying 3D games and movies if I cannot use it on my Laptop.

I have googled for help etc but to no avail.

Please, if anyone can give me suggestions or tips, I'd greatly appreciate it.

Thanks, Vidor

A:Qosmio X770-107 - 2D L&R converting into 3D

First of all the 3D gaming and 3D blu-ray is supported? you can read here in the forum about this theme. Of course 3D needs the supplied glasses.

Here is a nice doc from Toshiba about Toshiba Blu-ray Disc Player and the 3D settings.

The Toshiba Video Player can be used to play 3D content and to convert 2D into 3D.
As far as I know it set by default to 2D so you have to press 2Dto3D conversion in order to get 3D. DVD videos and DVD-VR and files like mp4 are supported and depending on the video content it might be not possible to play this in 3D.

Note: also the WinDVD BD for toshiba is preinstalled. This is different software and it can be used only for Blu-ray playback! If you want to play other content (DVD), you have to use Toshiba video player.

By the way: there is an update for Toshiba Video Player on toshiba European driver page: video player v check if you can run this update.

Have just did an upgrade but it was a clean upgrade ( keep nothing etc ) . Didnt check here first which was silly but now want to get my laptop running smoothly. Surprised that there are no win8 drivers available so should I download and use the win7 #64 bit # drivers ?

Or does win8 supply decent drivers of its own ? Should I use the 560m 64 bit win8 drivers from the Nvidia site or just leave the ones that win8 put in?

Laptop is running but its not smooth and gaming is not good.

What drivers do I need to get it going smoothly ? Also I guess the win7 64 utilities and other toshiba software will work ok ?

A:Qosmio X770 and Windows 8

It's better to use Win8 drivers since many of the Win7 drivers/utilities are not compatible with Win8.

If your main focus is to get the graphics working, use the notebook driver from www.nvidia.com

I have a Toshiba Qosmio X770-116, part.nr PSBYSE-01N013BT, serial no 8B088257K.
Windows 7 Home Prem is installed.

Usually when I stop working, I shut-down or I use the normal sleep.
The option was there to choose also deep sleep, which I wanted to try.
Sadly enough my portable does not want to wake up anymore.

When I push the power button, I can see the light of the power button (red) and hear the ventilator.
Besides this: nothing.

I read on the internet that there are a lot of problems with the deep sleep.
One of the tricks was to remove the battery and the RAM for 30 minutes, but that did not help for me.

Can anybody help me with some tips ?

After a complete power failure on my Qosmio X770-11c I was advised to replace power pack but this made no difference so I was advised to take to a Toshiba Service Agent. They checked it out and told me the graphics card had burned out and in doing so burned out mother board!!!!!. They Said it's quite common on this model to burn out graphics cards. They managed to get a mother board ok but Toshiba do not have any graphics cards and I've now been waiting weeks. Surely if a particular model is prone to burning out graphics cards you try to find solution or a least hold a good stock to get them replaced.
Not good enough Toshiba.

I have a Qosmio X770 running Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit OS. I cannot gain access to the BIOS. At power up, pressing F2 brings up the options to "Start windows 7", to "Start memory diagnostics" or to "Press F8". F8 then gives normal safe mode options. Selecting F12 at start up does nothing. Selecting some of the other keys at start up replicate pressing F2.

HWsetup allows some access to the BIOS, allowing me to change from fast to slow boot up and to change the boot order but nothing I have tried so far will allow me access to the BIOS before Windows starts up except for removing the C Drive.

The problem existed with the old BIOS and still exists with the lasts update. I do not know when the problem began, it has been years since I last tried to gain access. My oldest System Restore point, for some reason, only goes back to September 2, just before I made a system image. Restoring to that point did not help.

I can't think of anything else that might be relevant for now.

Dear Toshiba Forum Members,

I am writing this new thread because I experience serious problems with my Qosmio X770-107.

I bought it in 2014 from a famous electronics store here in Greece.
The first problem was the little duration of the battery. It was lasting for an hour when surfing on the internet and for about 10-30 minutes when playing games. I changed the settings lots of times but nothing changed.
Then I went to the store again where they found a problem on the battery and they changed it.

However the same was happening. Then I changed the battery 2 more times as well as the laptop and the charging cable during the year. At the third model I had the same problem. After a month I was experiencing some problems with blue screens and the fn keys were not working.
I formatted it and the problem with the blue screens was fixed.

Today I am still having the same laptop and the fn keys are not working. I have tried to reinstall the drivers but nothing changed. Additionally, the touch button for the keyboard lights is not working and when I touch it the sound is muted.

My question is if someone had the same problems or similar to those I have and if I can do something to change this model with another or receive my money back.

Here I have to refer that I have sent emails lots of times to Toshiba but they did not answer.
I have also sent my laptops to the official Toshiba service in Greece but they did not solve my problems.

Please answer as soon as possible

A:Qosmio X770-107 - FN and touch key issue

I formatted it and the problem with the blue screens was fixed.

Mostly the BSOD issues are related to software problems… MS updates as well as conflict between different applications can cause the BSOD… therefore its always advisable to recover the unit back to factory settings to get rid of system conflicts.

Today I am still having the same laptop and the fn keys are not working. I have tried to reinstall the drivers but nothing changed. Additionally, the touch button for the keyboard lights is not working and when I touch it the sound is muted.

I guess you are still using the Windows 7 system.
As I mentioned, due to the updates, it could happen that the system registry and FN key utility would be muddled up…

The FN keys are controlled by Toshiba Value Added Package as well as the Flash Cards Support Utility
Therefore I recommend you to uninstall both tools. Then to reboot the notebook. Then to clean the registry (you can use CCleaner Utility). After that, reboot the notebook once again and then start with the installation of Value Added Package and Flash Cards Support Utility

Furthermore I recommend you to check this interesting Toshiba document which explains all the software preinstalled on different Toshiba notebooks:

You may also check the Toshiba Assist Utility… and Toshiba button support which allows you to configure the touch buttons̷... Read more

Hi @all,

i?ve got a big problem with my Toshiba Qosmio X770-13g.
I?ve never user the NB for gaming, but now in holidays with bad weather i installed some games like Counter Strike CS:GO or Project cars.

After 10-20 Minutes of gaming (sometimes shorter, even with CS:GO) the Notebook switches off.
I?m thinking of heatproblems. I installed software to check the temp. and i must see, that short before switch off, the GPU?s temp is over 90 degrees celsius and the cpu?s temp is also >90 degrees.
I think switching of at this moment is the right thing but why is the NB getting so hot? It?s made for gaming so wtf???!??!
There is no dirt inside.

Do i have to buy special cooling equipment for playing with an gaming notebook???

I?m using Win 8.1 64 bit with the latest BIOS and Drivers ...

Do I have to live with this or is there any way out?

Plz help...

A:Qosmio X770-13g - Tunrs off while gaming

After 10-20 Minutes of gaming (sometimes shorter, even with CS:GO) the Notebook switches off. I?m thinking of heat problems

Yes, this could be a temperature issue.
In most cases the notebook shuts off automatically because of the higher temperature… the automatic shut down prevents the parts from damage.

I think switching of at this moment is the right thing but why is the NB getting so hot? It?s made for gaming so wtf???!??! There is no dirt inside.

It has been made for gaming but different settings control the cooling performance as well as the GPU and CPU performance…
so probably you would need to check it.

First of all I recommend you to go to the windows advanced power options and there you should set the “cooling method” to performance (for both battery and main power)

You can also decrease the max CPU performance to an lower level; i.e. 90%-95%
This would not affect the notebook performance too much but it should help to decrease the heat dissipation.

Furthermore the notebook should be used on the table… all the cooling vents must be free to ensure good air circulation… It’s also important to keep the fans free of dust…

Also you have to use the graphic card drivers from Toshiba because the GPU drivers available on Toshiba pages are modified for mobile usage.

this threat is just to report out my completed upgrades for the x770-116 model so it might help other people.
first upgrade was putting an ssd in, the -116 comes stock with only a harddrive which means it only has 1 functioning hdd bay.
to make the upgrade possible youll need to install part::zekhv8AC which can be hard to come by in the EU.

Next off I started working on the overheating issues, fist step was to replace the horrific stock thermal grease with artic mx-4 for both cpu and gpu, be carefull however. This grease can cause problems in the ellectrical circuit when used too much as was the cames with mine, I cleaned the gpu transistors with alcohal after which it worked fine. This summer I started having trouble when my room reached 30 degrees celcius, my cpu was overheating to about 90c. When I last disassembled my laptop I noticed the cpu heatsink of the cooler was smaller then other models, so I bought a x775 heatsink which has a bigger heatpipe and my cpu temps dropped with about 11c! So this might be a solution for people with overheating ci5 model x770s.

Being quite happy with the new performance I did however notice the cpu load was almost constantly on 96% while playing GTA5, I did some research and could'nt find a reason why an upgrade to ci7 processor would work so I bought a second hand one for ?70- the core i7 2630QM. I originally had no problems with a Qosmio X770 laptop playing 3D DVDs.
For some reason, now, the 3D glasses won't work - i.e. they are powering up but they don't convert the stereoscopic images into 3D.

I had the glasses charging up for over 3 hours and when plugged into the laptop they show a constant amber light, meaning they're fully charged.

When you unplug them, the light goes out and nothing happens when you focus on the 3d video.
Nothing happens when you leave them plugged into the laptop via USB either.

I thought I'd try to watch the DVD without 3D and switched off the 3D option in the Corel 3D player; however the software just reports that the viewer/screen is unable to view 3D and to switch to a screen that is 3D capable.

The Corel player won't play the DVD in 2D. No other player - not even Toshiba's own player - will play a 3D DVD. When I brought the laptop I was told that on this model only the Corel 3D player would work with 3D videos.

I'm guessing the glasses are defunct, but is there any way I could watch a 3D DVD as a 2D?

A:Cannot play 3D discs on my Qosmio X770

As far as I know (maybe I?m wrong) you can convert the 2D into 3D but you cannot convert 3D to 2D.

Regarding the issue:
It?s difficult to say if the issue is related to the 3D glasses? therefore it would be interesting to know if another 2nd pair of glasses would work properly.

Is USB mouse connected to the notebook while the touchpad isn?t working?
Does the touchpad work in case the USB mouse isn?t connected?

The question is whether this issue would be related to software or hardware problem.
In case it?s just an ?software? issue, you should try to reinstall the touchpad driver.
This can be found on the Toshiba EU driver page.

Also the touchpad settings which you should find in
control panel ? mouse ? (last tab) device settings ? settings button
must be checked?

Restart your Laptop and it wil automatically reinstall the Wifi card, this may solve your issue.

Dear Toshiba Forum,

I am opening this new thread in order to ask your assistance on a serious issue I experience for three years in a row. On 2012 I was looking for a new laptop with high performance especially in gaming.

After a lot of research, I decided to buy the Qosmio X770-107 from a big electronics store in my country. However, after a short time period of usage, I realized that there were lots of problems.

First of all, the duration of the battery was almost 30 minutes on games and about an hour on the internet. Then, when I was launching some games it was turnig off on its own and it could not be used for at least two days. Finally, it started showing blue screens and none of the fn keys was working.

So, I returned it for service and they gave me a new one.
The same thing was happening after at least three changes of the whole laptop.
Then, we changed about two times the battery and the cable, but still the same. In the last time a changed it and I have it until today, it showed all the above problems as well as the disability of touch keys and 3d mode of the screen.

In this point I have to underline that all of these laptop were also formatted many times and went to a computer technician.

Additionally, I have deleted and reintalled lots of times all of the drivers and I am working as a computer programmer and teacher, concequently I have lots of experiences.

I would also like to apologize for my english mistakes.

A:Qosmio X770-107 - Serious Experience Problems

Sorry to hear that you had so many problem with your Qosmio X770 unit.
Well, what shall I say to this?
? I don?t know why the battery was empty after 30 min but new battery should last longer even if you would run high performance applications?

But fact is also that battery working times depends on the notebook usage and playing a game, the battery would discharge much faster as running some office applications?

Regarding the shut down issue:
This could be related to internal temperature? while gaming the CPU as well the GPU produce lot of warmness. This might affect the system stability if the system cannot be cooled properly. Also the usage of not certified graphic drivers could lead to higher temperature because the GPU run at higher speed?

However, in case of hardware problems, the unit should be checked properly by service engineers? without such check it?s always difficult to talk about possible issue and reasons?.

Hi guys, just purchased my brand new Qosmio X770-138 about a week ago and everything seemed fine until it started to shutdown randomly. It is not proper shutdowns either, just boom - off.

Now i can tell you that it it NOT heat related, it only happens when I'm idling and the CPU temp is around 40-45 degrees celsus, so I have kind of ruled that out of the "ecuation"

It has never happened when I'm running high performance games wich makes the CPU temp spikes to max 60 degrees celsius.

Now I have tried using Reeltime to "turn back the time" to an earlier date wich it did not shutdown, than it worked fine for one day, then it started to shut down again.

Now I have just updated the BIOS and both the nVIDIA and INTEL video drivers, and it hasn't shut down for about an hour, but I don't believe I'm in the clear yet.

Does anyone know what causes these kinds of shutdowns? I have F-SECURE virus/spyware protections and firewall wich is genuine, so i should be relatively good protected from the nasties.

Thanks in advance for any help! :)

A:Qosmio X770 - Black Screen at startup

Yes, something is wrong but to solve this it needs to be important to replicate the issue.

Does it happen to you while wake-up from standby / sleep or hibernation mode?

The point is that during the standby / sleep or hibernation mode the data will be written either to the memory or to HDD and probably there could be some issue with the wakeup option.

At the other hand it would be interesting to know if system recovery (settings the OS back to factory state) would improve the functionality.

We don?t know exactly how the system has been changed in the past and therefore it would be also advisable to test the notebook with a preconfigured system.

A:Need help installing Windows 7 on Toshiba Qosmio X770

Everything is here to get and keep a perfect Clean Reinstall Windows 7. Over 1.5 million consumers have followed it without a single complaint. They have the best installs of Win7 in the world.

Yes you can use your OEM copy of Win7 Home Premium as long as its the needed bit version. Use 64 bit for 3gb more RAM, 32 bit for less than 3gb RAM. It also needs to be the actual Win7 installation disk and not a branded Recovery disk. There is no distinction in the media for OEM and other retail media after XP, only the key determines which version will activate.

MS is unnecessarily deferring to the OEM in their new software Recovery website which rarely works at all. Yet the OEM no longer has any power to dissuade users from reinstalling their property the way they want it. The factory install is a grossly inferior install larded with bloatware and duplicate utilities that interfere with better versions built into Win7.

Hello everyone,

I might have been a little fast with updating my aging Qosmio X770 to Win10.

Though all things considered, installation went fast and painless, I lost 2 functions in the transfer.

The 3D Webcam has not made the jump sadly. Opening the device manager will show me that there are no drivers installed.

Using both the Win7 or Win8 upgrade installer will not work, they won't even pop up, going into their temp folder and running the installers will however install and update the controlling program. Sadly i can't find a .inf to manually install.

Using 3rd-party sites, i was able to find a driver, but being from 2006, I am less than confident it'll match the system.

Also it seems that all Hotkeys have ceased to function, except controls for volume (curiously both the touch keys on the upper half and the FN + 3 /4 combo). Scouting the forum showed a recent thread with the "Added value program", so I'll look into that. But i would be grateful for any ideas concerning the webcam drivers.

Thanks in advance.

Hi. I recently upgraded from Win 7 to Win 10 via download, and my function key will not do anything. The Eco Utility is also all out of wack, and does not seem to want to respond. Not sure how else to describe it, other than that. Appreciate any help.

A:Qosmio X770 loss of function key after Win 10 upgrade

Best option is to clean install it, chuck out all the Toshiba bloat including all the so-called eco stuff and do power management via Windows. Trust me it runs a whole lot better. I was forced into a clean install after the SSD failed recently. Amazingly Windows took care of all the drivers on my X870 and the laptop is functioning perfectly, my only concern is CPU temps which seem to be too high, maxing out at 90 degrees during games but about to strip down and redo the heatsink paste on the CPU/GPU cooler. GPU temps are OK, around 75 degrees max.

However, downside for me was some of the F keys no longer work. WiFi does but is now just WiFi/Bluetooth on/off, speaker volume, mute, display and display brightness all work but touchpad on/off doesn't. Media keys don't appear to work either (play/pause, track skip) Plus only the display brightness, volume and multi display keys have a graphic, none of the others do.

Toshiba doesn't support Windows 10 for anything earlier than X-70A. Disgraceful when you pay so much for these Qosmios. Won't be buying Toshiba again when the X870 dies, not only do I think it's a disgrace not to offer better support on flagship products like the Qosmio series, the X-70B is now little more than a toy with it's AMD R9 M365X GPU, no more powerful than a Geforce 940M!

I have an X770 running Windows 7. It will no longer play in 3D and when I go to the Device Manager and try to update the performance information I get the following "The Windows experience index could not measure video playback performance."
I am not sure when things went wrong, whether it was a Windows update, a Toshiba driver update or something else that caused the problem. As far as I can tell, I have all of the latest drivers installed and running correctly but I can't find any old drivers to roll back to.
I am not prepared to update to Windows 10 and would rather put up with the problem than do so.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

A:Qosmio X770-107 - Windows 10 upgrade issues

Hi, disable automatic windows driver update, download driver for your exact Atheros model from the Atheros cz site, delete offending driver and install the one you get from Atheros. This solved the BSOD on my X775 and restored my wifi and bluetooth after upgrading to Windows 10.

I have a TOSHIBA Qosmio X770 PSBY5U-00N01N that I bought directly from Toshiba (Windows 7 PRO OEM) and I am having trouble trying to install Windows 10. At first, I tried to update by using the Windows 10 update.

The update failed with an error code that I could not resolve, so I downloaded the Windows 10 ISO and ran it. When it asked for the Product Key, I looked on the back of the computer and found the faded out 25 length key, the first 15 of which appeared to be HMY2G-486BX-KHTMC-_____-_____.

To my surprise, the program said the product key was incorrect. I then tried Belaric Advisor, Magic Jelly Bean, Produkey & Speccy all of which reported a key of 2V8P2-QKJWM-4THM3-74PDB-4P2KH which also failed the ISO product key test.

I'm fairly sure I should be using the key on the back of the computer and was wondering if anyone knew of a program that yiels a key that matches the one on the back of the computer.

As a last resort, I can always restore the computer back to the factory settings, preform the numerous pre-Windows 10 updates and then finally hope that the final Windows 10 update succeeds.

Guys, laptop is currently running using standard vga (i.e. GTX 560M disabled). I've checked using GPU-Z and the BIOS version and other info are missing/blank. Previously, it is populated with data (ex. BIOS Version:, etc...). This problem appeared after the laptop bluescreened while playing LoL. After restarting, the display went black (i.e. after windows loads). After restarting many times, login screen appeared but in vga mode. Checking the display in the device manager, it indicates the code 43.

Does this mean that the GTX 560M video card is damaged? Pleas help.

I recently reinstalled windows 7, but I didn't download and save the drivers for this laptop (Qosmio X770-PSBY5E) when I first got it so I've had to redownload the drivers. I tried downloading the drivers, but it seems that every time I try to download them, anything larger than 100MB does not download completely. It also seems that most of the downloads are downloading at a maximum speed of 300KB/s. This download speed is the same on my 10Mb/s line at home as well as a 100Mb/s line at work.

Is there an alternate download link for these drivers or if anybody has these files, can they be shared please?

I have a Qosmio X770 with NVidia 3D playback. I am looking for the best free video player for playing 2D movie clips in 3D.

Toshiba Video Player works very well but I can only get it to play MP4-AVC format files. Is there a way to add codecs so that it will play other formats?

NVIDIA 3D Vision Player plays all formats but when in 3D mode there is no access to the controls. Volume can be changed with function keys and the video can be paused with keyboard combinations that must be remembered but you cannot fast forward/backwards or access the slider to change the video position.

Both are reasonable solutions but neither is perfect. Is there a better option out there? I tried StereoscopicPlayer but could not get it to work and it is limited to 5 minutes of play anyway.

A:Qosmio X770 - looking for best free video player to play 2D movie in 3D

Both are reasonable solutions but neither is perfect.

Freeware software as a perfect solution?
I don’t think that you will get such software just for free…

How about convert the 2D to 3D movies with 2D to 3D converters?
The KM Player supports also the 2D to 3D feature but does not support all formats… you must pay for full version to get the full support.
Of course PowerDVD also great but not for free.

Dear all,
I have a QOSMIO X770-13C PSBY5E, and I used it with no problem duing a year.
Since arround 3 months, my laptop not reconize my external graphic card, a geforce GTX 560m. At the first hours of occurance of this problem, a message indicating that my graphic card is not a removable device, and can't be disabled was shown on the screen, and the card was no longer detected.
I succefully tried for many times to reinstall the operation system (OS), WIN 7 home premium edition 64 bit with the original key offered with the gamer notebook, but the problem remins as it.
The laptop reconize the graphic card after an hours of AC adapter and battery removing, and a complete OS reinstallation. The card is detected as VGA standard, and a compter restart is need, but after restarting, the card is detected as VGA standard with the error code 10, and still allow a driver installation. After a driver installation, and a restarting of the computer, the card is then disconnected after a few minutes of use with the message indicated below.
I tested many versions of the driver : 388.13 WHQL, 381.65 WHQL, 347.52 WHQL, with a manual installation. However, the result is the same. In addition, a blue screen appear with the older version 268.85.
I tried a software reset of the bios, no result, and I don't find any configuration of the external GPU or PCI-express in the bios menus. In addition, I don't know how to do a hardware bios reset in this version of notebook.

Hi all
I know this has been posted on here many times , i have a qosmio x770-107 and the gfx card has overheated and needs a reball , no one wants to do it and ebay reballers cant give any garantee as mxm3.0b is fairly new to them and they have never reballed one before .

Its a gtx 560m what i was wandering is if i can downgrade the gfx card as im finding it hard to find a gtx 560m for less that ?250/300 and its not worth paying out that much , i can get a 470/480 gtx mxm3.0b (from alienware) and reading on here says the bios is not compatable or issues there is also a quadro 3000m/4000m or a gt540m mxm3.0 a , it seems as no one seems to have replaced these cards only someone tried to put a gtx 670m which is different chipset and newer tech?

any help would be appreciated even if its a qosmio x500 whould the gfx card work from that ? think they had a max of a gtx460m in them ??

thanks in advance simon.

A:Qosmio X770-107 - nVidia GTX 560m faulty - replacement question

I?m afraid another and different GPU will not work properly.
From my experience the BIOS will not handle such new device properly.

Of course this is just an assumption because I never tried such GPU replacement.
But according to different suggestion from people who tried to replace the notebook?s GPU, mostly its an compatibility problem between the GPU and motherboard/BIOS.

Therefore in case of GPU problems, it?s not worth to replace only the GPU because the costs are immense.

The history of fails:
After 2 years the second HDD (non hybrid) made noises and died a week later. System on C: (Master HDD) was running good (still was the original pre installed one from factory).
I decided to upgrade to an Samsung Evo 840 500gig SSD by cloning the Hybrid HDD on the Prime/Master channel. It cloned the original perfectly and I swapped the discs like this : The SSD stayed in the Notebook on the master channel and the still good working HDD in the box with spare parts to have a emergency disc for future....

like this it worked nearly 8 months perfectly. Then frequently an alert window opened with the message that the RAM will be full soon giving the advise to close some application. With the MS tool "Resscoursenmonitor" I had to kill the processes of svchost.exe and sometimes spoolsv.exe to get the load down by 50% and I could work on till next day the alert window was returning. I did run MS updates more frequent now because skype started crashing now every time somebody called me. At this stage sudden shutdowns (without blue screen) occurred with a followed reboot. There was no intervals for these deaths obvious - sometimes 5 times a day, sometimes not at all.
The system protocols showed at the timestamp of the crashes a mistake named " Kernel-Power ID41" which is not helpful. Hardware or Software problem ? To find this out, I took the original HDD and replaced it for the SSD. The first day nothing happened, maybe because it was... Read more

A:Qosmio X770 107 PSBY5E Bios2.10 2nd SATA3 is where? +sudden shut-downs

MY User habits:

? Restart the machine maybe every 6 weeks because of MS updates
? I am not a gamer
? nothing is tweaked up and no overheating (sandra2015 says 58? -66? CPU / 35? -50? MB,RAM 35?)
? main Applications running are 2-3 different internet browsers, DAW (Ableton,Rekordbox) Skype and few explorers windows -> so nothing major
? I mainly wake the pc only up from energy-safe mode which falls into automatically - not by user commands
? Spybot and MS Security Essentials are the only protections no other Anti-Virus program is used
? Bluetooth and wifi constantly disabled
? Notebook stays only on one place in an even tempered room always on the permanent plugged power cable

This is a very strange problem.

After a reinstall of the Toshiba N2230 WiFi driver whilst investigating a WiFi connection problem (by uninstalling and reinstalling in Device Manager) I now find the WiFi card is completely disabled, although in Device Manager the device is "installed and working properly" and lists the driver. Toggling the WiFi off/on key does not have any effect.

So I reinstalled the Intel driver from Toshiba's website for the X870 (which crashes, but you can run it from the temporary folder it creates) The result was Bluetooth got uninstalled and now is an "unknown device" and refuses to install at all. If I try to direct it manually to the driver it says the driver is not for this device?!?!

I also tried Intel's own drivers specifically for Windows 10 with no success. Sadly, I did not realise that system restore had been disabled so I cannot roll back, which I expect would have fixed this problem.

The laptop is upgraded to Windows 10, this is the first time I have had any problems with the WiFi connection since it was upgraded.

Does anybody have an idea why this has happened...and maybe a fix? I don't think there is any fault with the card, this looks to be a driver problem.

A:Qosmio X770-119 - N2230 driver installed but not working, Bluetooth uninstalled.

Update. Borrowed an external USB adaptor (TP-Link Archer T2U), disabled the internal adaptor in device manager and installed the TP-Link. Result is the same, device is listed on device manager as working properly, drivers are digitally signed but the adaptor is not enabled.

There is no vpn software on the laptop, I tried disabling antivirus, run sfc scannow and disabled driver signing just in case. But to no avail.

This isn't a question, but the answer to a question that I couldn't find the answer to. I went to the computer fair today and got to try before buy a 16GB Kit of DDR3 SODIMM 1333MHz Memory today. It worked just fine.

After exhausting the internet looking for anyone who had done this I'm happy to say I'm probably the first to post success. I hope others can learn from this and be as successful.

The SODIMM's are CMSO8GX3M1A1333C9 Corsair memory

Next week I'm going to try out the 8GB (2x4GB) Kit of Kingston HyperX 1866MHz C11 Memory and see what performance increases can be had.

Qosmio X770 laptop, 64-bit, 4 years old, Windows 7 Home.

As a result of a Trojan attack a month ago, at least my User Folder was corrupted, and I've continued experiencing various problems, including unreliable Starts, mostly unsuccessful, but succeeding just enough to keep me from giving up.

Yesterday I followed the steps posted in one of these forums for doing a Recovery to Factory Settings. It stalled at Flash Cards Support Utility (10/80) and after about 5 hours I shut the laptop down and started again, not knowing what to expect.

I received a message that said the computer can't start because it's missing eblib.dll. Possibly that's all it's missing, or maybe that's just the first of many error messages.

I did nothing techncial to prepare for this recovery operation. I did copy and paste my data to a USB and delete it from the laptop.

After a month of problems, this recovery was really a last-ditch effort before giving up and taking it to a shop for a clean install of Windows 7. I don't really know what that means, in the sense of, after a clean install, will there be nothing whatsoever on my laptop, other than the Windows 7 screen? As much as I hate bloat, nothingness would be a brand-new challenge. : (

How likely is it that a second attempt at recovery will succeed, when the first one didn't? .Is the stall at the Flash Card utility a familiar one with a known fix?

Thanks for any help.
