Comodo Time Machine total uninstall not total at all

Q: Comodo Time Machine total uninstall not total at all

I unstalled Comodo Time Machine after I realized I had made a mistake in setting it up, and then when I tried to re-install it (there was no option to go back and rectify my mistake), it told me the software was "already installed on my computer" and would not re-install.
I used Revo Uninstaller to remove the program, then CCcleaner to tidy up, and also went thorough my registry with CCleaner and manually checking for breadcrumbs and stuff CCleaner tends to miss.

BTW, specs:
I am running XP Professional Edition, service pack 3.
I use Rising Anti-Virus (never had a problem).
I've also tried Glary Utilities (desperate) to no avail.
CTM still thinks it is installed on my computer. I am sure there are little lurking elements somewhere where I can't find them with my limited skills. When I startup, there is a CTM splash screen detailing how it is "creating a restore point," although no other related files to this can be found, as far as my digging has shown me. Additionally, I have tried re-downloading the program and reinstalling, to no avail. Still tells me the program is already installed.

I would like to get rid of the splash screen, and remove all remaining parts of the program. This make be as simply as deleting the logo file from my system, but since I like to run a clean machine I want to make sure to scrub the rest of the traces, if there are any. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks!

Preferred Solution: Comodo Time Machine total uninstall not total at all

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I installed CTM , and it ran well , did what i expected it to do , until it used up all the space on my main hard drive with snapshots.
I deleted a few , and kept the baseline , but it was telling me I had very little space left after deleting the snapshots.
I opened up " my computer" and rightclicked the C drive , and properties was telling me i had 44GB still left on the C drive.
I decided to uninstall CTM cos it obviously wasn't working 100%. It asked if i wanted to restart.....i said no and later shut down the PC for the night.
A few days later , on starting up the pc , the CTM screen comes on with the progress bar. It updates something , then uninstalls very quickly , but gets stuck on the next screen which says

updating data 2% ( with progrress bar beneath this )
disk 1\1 .........................60mb/m............7904 / 8092 (mb)

but it just sits there at 2% for an eternity , and because it boots straight into this screen , I cant access anything to fix it.

I've invested considerable time into downloading many kinds of free " recovery disk" type programs and burning them to disc , to have a contingency plan for every concievable kind of problem but it seems every problem i have renders my " preparations " as useless and irrelevant. I cant even access safe mode right now !!

Please can someone help me get CTM off my computer . I have a lot of work related data on my c drive that i can't access until this is fixed.

I will disable the bitdefender firewall, of course.
I do not have comodo anti-virus installed, only the firewall.
I am presently running bitdefender anti-virus 2016, in combo with Comodo firewall, and I have no visible problems.
But what about BTS? Are the firewall drivers and the additional components likely to cause conflicts?
(I have a licence for BTS, and it has a couple extras that I like)

A:Comodo Firewall + Bitdefender Total Security?

Antivirus + Firewall = OK

Internet Security + Internet Security = NOT OK

Antivirus + Internet Security = NOT OK

Firewall + Internet Security = NOT OK

Internet Security + Companion Antivirus = OK, but add Exclusions and check compatibility with both vendors.

Go look at the Bitdefender website for a comparison between their Antivirus and Total Security. I can almost guarantee BTS has a lot of features that you do NOT use.

@shmu26 Do you not have a Security Configuration Wizard, I highly recommend creating one.

Hello,I recently encountered what I believe to be a spyware/trojan problem on my laptop which is running Windows XP. The problem started about a week ago when a fake security alert came across my desktop saying "Attention! System has encontered a potentional problem..." I ran Spybot Search and Destroy and Malwarebytes Anti-Maleware (I already had these programs installed). These both removed a number of problems. I also have McAfee anti-virus software running. I also ran a scan with this. As of now the fake desktop alerts are gone, however, when I run a Google search and click on a result, I am redirected to some random website. it didn't take long to realize that removal of programmes are just as important as installing them. when i saw the link to this program "total uninstall" and the description of it's purpose, i thought i'd give it a shot.
it appeared everything was going smoothly until i ran it. it takes a snapshot of the computers files and registry. while doing it, a progress bar goes across. the progress bar quickly move to about 25% and quit for over half an hour. that's when i exited out of the program.
for anyone who has used "total uninstall", is this the normal way the program works? how long does it usually take?
i have a dial-up connection. would that affect the performance?

Hey guys, i finally uninstalled that piece of crap program. It took me a few days but after ALOT of research here it is, its quite simple, just follow these steps. I know that you cant open up any programs at all, but you should be able to use IE. The key here is the terminate the process thats running this program, in order to do that you must open up the Task manager, it would normally be done by pressing control-alt-delete but this stupid program wont let you do it, so we have to open it this way. Here it goes, please pass this around because im finally so relieved to get that piece of crap off my computer, im never running my computer again without virus software.

Step 1: Open up "My Computer" and Open up the "C" drive
Step 2: Open up the folder "Windows"
Step 3: Open up the folder "System 32"
Step 4: Scroll down to the file all the way on the bottom named "taskmgr", simply right click and rename this file "iexplore" and bam, open this baby up by double clicking it and your task manager will open up, and find the process that total security is running, its usually a number like 34854385.exe or something like that, just click that number and close it
Step 5: Immediately download a anti virus software, i downloaded avg, they give a free 30 day trial and it wipes it completely off. You have to restart the system after you install avg so just follow the above steps to kill the process again on the restart.

As Total Defense Security is a legit AV suite, the correct way to remove it would be to uninstall it from Control Panel > Programs and Features. Performing it in Safe Mode is better if possible, as the antivirus' services will not be running. If that does not work, you can try Revo Uninstaller. It will perform a more thorough uninstallation of the antivirus suite.

A:Solved: unable to uninstall Total War Medieval

Try manually uninstalling it, open run, and type C:\program files (or the equivalent directory) and find where it was installed to. (Usually the games name, the developers name, ect.) and delete the file. make sure to only delete that game if there are multiple games in the file. its messy but it will free up the space.

Another option would be revo uninstaller http://www.revouninstaller.com/

it should be able to remove it completely

I was happily on my computer & everything was swell. All of a sudden, I get this supposed anti-virus box that pops up so I do what it says, except I do NOT buy anything.

So I find out I have the malware Total Security. The icon is not on my desktop OR in the bottom right corner. The only way I know it's on here is when I look at my list of programs.

I Googled & found all kinds of sites that say how to remove it, which I've attempted for hrs, but it's still hard & I can't figure it out. I certainly can't do it manually.

Can someone please tell me in SIMPLE, VERY BASIC step-by-step directions from start to end on how to remove this malware. To show you how much of a novice I am, I don't even know how to set my computer into Safe Mode.

Last week my hard drive failed and I had to replace and re-install programs & find passwords etc. Now my problem is that I had already reinstalled bit defender & for several days it was ok. Then suddenly something completely stopped my antivirus and a message that nothing was in the file or something to that effect. I tried to uninstall it from the control panel and thought I had done so. I tried to reinstall from a CD. Now I can't get it off the computer and when I try I keep getting the message exception in unknown software exception (0xc0000417) occurred in the application at location Oxe56d167c.
I contacted their support people and they had me download the uninstaller from the website & run it. It would not remove it either. Now I can't put another antivirus on or put that one back on. Where do I go from here? Thanks for any help. I did download MBAM in safe mode and ran it. It found 43 PUP files of various types. IS there anything that can keep them off?
Thanks for any help.

But now with windows 8 I get the total file size but not the total playing time, is there anyway I can get this back please.

Best I could come up with is to right-click the selected files, go to properties, then to the details tab, and the total play time is listed cumulatively for the selected files:

I have always been an advocate of not only using anti viruses but paid for anti viruses. For many years i have spent my hard earned cash paying for an AV so I don't get any nasty software on my computer that will cause my machine to not work correctly or steal my money.

As of today I have decided to remove my paid for Kaspersky before the subscription is up and not even replace it with a free one such as MS security Essentials. The reason I have decided to take this action, is because the only piece of software that has caused me any real problems with my computer performance, or cost me money is my AV.

I have had periods before where I have used a free AV such as MS Essentials, and I have found no difference what so ever in the rate at which I get or don't get infected. I have also noticed that the only software that ever has any affect on performance is the AV. I have therefore come to realize that the AV itself is the virus that is either costing me money, slowing my machine down or doing both.

What are your opinions on the matter, do you share my opinion that ALL AV's are a waste of time, resources and money?

A:Are Anti-Viruses A Total Waste Of Time?

My thoughts would be the same as for imaging/ backups, you may never need them but they will save you big time when you do.

So yeah, I use MSE, MBAM manual scans, Macrium for imaging, all just in case I do need them.

A:Comodo Time Machine Partition

I couldn't get CTM to install.

You may be best uninstalling it.

If you like that kind of thing , Genie do an interesting app. - it seems to work without causing issues.

Genie Timeline Free - Free software downloads and software reviews ...

It is a continuous data protection app. It tracks which files have been altered/deleted and backs them up every half an hour. To restore there is a slider to go back thru the back up times.

It is not a replacement for a drive image program.

Hello guys,

I have a report which has (User, Office, Problem, Date time open, Date Time Close, and Total Date time of job.) TotalDateTime calcultates the time from when it was open to when it closes.

The report shows the total of all jobs so i can print it out. At the bottom of the report i want it to tell me the total time of all the TotoalDateTime records, i.e:

Joe Bloggs Open-11/06/2011 10:30:00 Close-12/06/2011 11:25:00 Total- 1 Day, 55 Mintutes
Jack Black Open-11/06/2011 10:30:00 Close-12/06/2011 11:25:00 Total- 1 Day, 55 Mintutes

TotalOverPeriod - 2 Days, 1 Hour, 50 Mintues

I cant seem to make it total up...Anyone know how to do this?

Thank you

Every time I try to play game or watch a video, either from the internet or downloaded, it freezes my entire computer and I have to do a hard restart. This also happens when any kind of flash plays on a website for more than like 10 seconds. It's been going on for near 6 months now and it's driving me absolutely mad! I have updated everything that I can think of including flash player, chipset driver, video driver, firefox, and even reinstalled windows and nothing works. I've tried disabling hardware acceleration to no avail. I've run virus and malware scans and they came up with nothing. Any help with this would be enormously appreciated.

A:What's Your Opinion of Comodo Time Machine (system restore)?

I haven't installed it, but reading the Guide ... It looks a lot like Acronis to me.

One thing I didn't see was the ability to run a recovery if it wasn't installed ... (or did I miss it ??)
This would prevent it being used to recover a Brand New HDD.

I also didn't see a way to Image the system .. And exclude Data folders.
It's my opinion that imaging is only good for backing up the system ... And not a huge amount of personal data.

I have a ASUS G72 notebook with one 500 gb harddisk in it.
On c drive, there was Windows 7 Home 64 bit,
On d drive, there was Windows 7 ultimate 64 bit.
i installed comodo time machine on c first, and then on d(as told by the program), and then computer restarted (as suggested on program installation),
now it says "reboot and select proper device or insert boot media in selected boot device and press a key after the restart.
i put the windows system repair disc, it didn't see any windows installations,
with no operating system seen i went to repair options, and tried start up repair, it starts, goes to attempting repairs and stucks there for a long time. (when i stop it before going to attempt repairs, it says that the problem is "partition table is corrupt on disk \device\harddisk0" )
i changed ahci to ide, no change.
i went to command prompt and tried
- bootsect /nt60 all (/force) /mbr
result is
\??\physicaldrive0 successfully updated disk bootcode.
it didn't change anything, it still asked for boot device.
bootrec /fixmbr says "the operation completed succesfully"
bootrec /fixboot says " element not found."
bootrec /scanos says "total identified windows installations 0"
bootrec /rebuildbcd says the same
bootcfg says "error : cannot open boot.ini file"
bcdedit says "the boot configuration data store could not be opened. the requested system device cannot be found."

Windows 7 Hangs sometime after startup or when trying to uninstall Kaspersky Total Internet Security and/or trying to install Windows 10. A few weeks ago the hang happened during windows startup e.g. within a few seconds of logging on with my user. I suspected
one of the startup programs being the cause, possibly Kaspersky. So in Safe Mode stopped all startup programs. I was then able to logon normally, but when I tried to uninstall Kaspersky sometime into the uninstall it hung. Same happens when someway into trying
to install Windows 10. So I manually removed all the Kaspersky files in Safe Mode, only way i knew how to remove it. But with it seemingly removed still couldn't deploy Windows 10, me hoping this would help! The hang would still occur if left on with browser
running a music site, though this might take a long time to hang. So though I would deploy Kaspersky again and straight away Hang happened again on user startup. So againstopped/disabled at startup and services. Is there anyway I can completey remove Kaspersky
so I can rule this out. Suggestions welcome

Hi there,
I have HQ Total 1.2 installed on my computer and I am finding it impossible to uninstall it. I have done it over and over without any joy. I turned the computer off, reset internet explorer and it still wont go. I keep having popups for adverts coming up and it's not a particularly pleasant user experience at the moment. I have looked online for any forums but can't find anything directly linked to HQ Total 1.2. I could only find HQ Total 1.1 which advised me to uninstall and to reset internet explorer settings.
Can anyone help please?
Thank you

Hello, in 3 days I have not been in any control of my computer. I am not really sure how or when I started, I first noticed it when I was trying to paste a folder in my Library. At first it was just saying Location not available. So, I ran my AVG full scan, which found nothing at first. I increased its options, which makes it scan more things thoroughly. Than it found a backdoor Trojan, let my free version of AVG handle it. After this I downloaded and ran Malwarebytes free edition. It found some malware than some sort of Trojan it told me to restart my computer. So I restarted it and when it loaded up I ran it again and it found another file after which I was told to restart again. The third time nothing was found but my files started shifting around, than disappearing. Than I restarted my computer as it came on, my computer screen went dim, I logged in tried running a quick scan and nothing happenned, my anti-virus software remain but the file was empty. I turned my computer off and restarted in safe mode, my computers screen went dim again. When I tried to use my finger print scanner to log in, it would not work so I typed my password when I logged in my windows had apparently been reverted to a 32 bit. I tried system restoring and it said to some to degree basicly it could not. So I completely rebooted to factory settings. After getting my computer everything ran, started back up, I started updates and everything. Now it's starting again except faster.

Does anyone know if there's a way to check a overall PC up time from the very beginning ( purchase) ?

A:Total PC uptime

Do you mean how long its been up & running or ? Otherwise, right click the taskbar, left click Start Task Manager & click the Performance Tab & it'll show you how long since you (re)booted up.
Of course you can also use the TS search feature top right corner in here.

I have an infection on my Windows XP machine. It has had different names, Security Essentials 2010, Total PC Defender, and at least one other one. I have tried what similar posters have recommended, rkill, then malwarebytes anti-malware, AVG, spydoctor, spybot, and avast. When I use firefox, most of my search results in google do not work, they go to some spam page. I also am unable to download any files from the internet. I cannot open EXE files from my desktop unless I go to properties and unblock them. AVG would not run, but i uninstalled and reinstalled it and it appears to be working. While running gmer.exe I got a blue screen of death. I ran gmer.exe a 2nd time, it ran for over 4 hours so I stopped it. I then could not do anything on the machine. It took ten minutes for notepad to open, and then i tried saving what i had copied and it just froze. I could not open Word or Wordpad either.
