Wont up load files, freezing, wont shut down, wont let me connect 2 internet.

Q: Wont up load files, freezing, wont shut down, wont let me connect 2 internet.

Yesturday my vista was working great, and on the screen as i went to shut it down said "updating files do not shut down computer 3/3 100%" but it stayed like that for 4 hours, so i turn it off manualy once i turned it back on the next day it asked me for my password i put it in and as it was loading it was vey slow and would take 5-6 minutes for programs to load up.

Also when i go to click on like my internet it dont work, not even my games work, they try to load then freeze. So i did a scan on it and its still having this problem. After i got frustrated i went to shut it down again and it says "logging off" but stays like that for hours, so i have to manualy turn it off. Now with internet issue, it works in safe mode with connection, but not in my normal screen. WHY IS THIS DOING THIS?

Preferred Solution: Wont up load files, freezing, wont shut down, wont let me connect 2 internet.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

The site "www.subscene.com" or "www.hotmail.com" wont load on any browser i tried ping and the request times out, 100% packet loss, I've checked with my ISP (frankly they aren't that helpful). i did a fresh Win 7 64 bit install and still not working.

Our family computer is randomly having trouble connecting to the internet when loading some web pages or web pages wont load. I occasionally have the same problem with my laptop but never at the same time. Which leads me to believe it is not likely my router. Would that be correct? My wife plays alot of games from Yahoo Games. Could that be a source of some of the problems?

I have some of the tools I believe will be needed to clean the system loaded to my desktop ready to go. I need some direction to be sure I don't go out of order and cause a bigger problem.

Thank you

Hello there,

It seems like you did not perform a clean installation of Windows and that's why your system is acting up.

Follow the steps below to install a new copy of Windows:

1. To format your hard disk during Windows 7 installation you will need to start or boot your computer using the Windows 7 installation disc or USB flash drive. Insert your Windows 7 disc in your CD/DVD drive. Please note: will need to restart or turn on your system with the disc in the drive.
2. After turning on your system with the CD in the drive go ahead and press any key when prompted during your computer post routine and then follow the instructions presented on screen. If you don’t see this go back to step 1 to setup your BIOS to boot from CD or USB flash drive depending on your installation media.
3. On the Install Windows page simply enter your preferences and click next.

4. Accept the Windows license agreement.

5. On the “Which type of installation do you want” page go ahead and choose the “Custom” option.

6. Select Drive options (advanced) on the “Where do you want to install Windows” page.

7. Select the partition that you want to change, choose the formatting option you want to perform and then follow the instructions.
When allocating space choosing the default MB size for your drive is typically the best for most users since you want to take full advantage of all your disk... Read more

Hello
I am new here and I believe I am having virus problems. I dont know much about fixing computers but I try. I have two hard drives in my computer which is a old Compaq Presario 5WV271 5000 series, both hard drives have Windows XP pro (service pack 3)that I installed on it years ago. It has the max alotted memory, a 10/100 PCI NIC, 900 MHz AMD Athlon Processor, a master hard drive 40 GB (drive C) that I am using to connect here and a slave hard drive 60 GB that says drive D when I am using it but not found when on drive C. For some reason drive C shows a (New Volume F). Except for this abnormaly both drives functioned well enough and both were able to access the internet using my high speed dsl cable line. I seem to have contracted a virus that I have been running various removal tools and anti virus programs trying to get rid of it. It seems to still be sick. I cannot get it to do a system restore and now my drive D (new volume F I guess) will not connect to the internet it just says that it is acquiring a network address though I am not part of a network of any sort.It also has prevented some of the programs I have tried to run from runnuing. Whatever this virus on drive D is it also was able to shut down Avast and Windows Defender and would not let me restart them. I use this drive primarily and all the things I use mostly are on here. I am on a very fixed income and have to do all I can to keep my poor computer running as its all I will probably ever have. Please. I ... Read more

Backstory (skip if you need)
I'm fixing someones laptop, It was slow and taking 30 minutes to startup, i did the usually virus scan and restarted, then it was stuck in an auto repair loop. I used a windows 8 Install CD from microscoft. None of the options in it would work, install (key doesnt match) reset (missing partition), image recovery (cant find an image), restore (no restore point), etc.

Used command prompt, did stuff like bootrec, bcdedit, diskpart, and chkdsk. After it ran chkdsk it finally loaded windows. I reset/reinstalled the OS completely. Fixed, restarted, running smooth. Owner said it was working great for a day, then after turning it back on it was in an auto repair loop.

Now
It's stuck in a preair loop, I can't even boot from the 8 CD! Have it configured in the bios, it shows the the blue windows logo then the screen goes black for 3 minutes and a blue screen flashes for 1 second saying "Your PC ran into a problem and need to restart. Collecting some info (0% complete) search online for error: 0x000021a"

The weird thing is, Windows 7 disks boot fine, but it's "not compatible". And if I physically remove the HDD, it will boot into the windows 8 CD. So I put the HDD back in (while still at the command prompt) and it wont take my commands in related to the C: . I get a "System cannot find the drive specified"

I also tried hooking upp the HDD to my PC SATA, it shows in explorer, but just right clicking it crashes explorer.exe. D... Read more

A:Windows wont load, Boot CD wont load, Automatic Repair Loop

UPDATE:

I got a windows 8.1 disk made and it allowed me yo boot from the CD, but it's SLOOOOW, it takes minutes to load reset or w.e (none of them still work), or open the command prompt.

I ran chkdsk /f /r /x but it didnt help. chkdsk /r ends with:
"A disk read error occurredcc0000185
Insufficient disk space to fix the Usn Journal $J data stream."

Before when I ran it, I'm pretty sure it let me restart and booted into windows, not now.

Next I tried bootrec.
/fixmbr - succesful
/fixboot - succesfull
/rebuildBCD - Total identified Windows installations: 0
/scanOS - Total identified Windows installations: 0

Next bcdedit
Nothing worked "The boot configuration data store could not be opened. The requested system device cannot be found."

Next sfc /scannow
"There is a system repair pending which requires reboot to complete. Restart Windows and run sfc again."
Then sfc /SCANNOW /OFFBOOTDIR=c:\ /OFFWINDIR=d:\Windows
"Windows resources protection didnt find integrity violations"

BCDBoot c:\WindowsFailure when attempting to copy boot files

Next diskpart - but I forgot what I did before that may have worked. All i can remember is I had to select a disk or volume, and do something with it.

Ok so I have a HP Mini 110 and lately my computer has been acting strange. It wont shut down. If I try to shut it down it will act like its shutting down then re boot back up. If it goes to "sleep" (the buttons are still lit, typically the power button will just flash on and off) it wont wake up unless I use the power button.

Now this all started happening when my computer stopped or failed to update my language packs which took 28 hours to fully finish. Only 14 out of the 32 downloaded ok fine so i shut it down to just finish those that were installed. Ok so shutting down then the whole "Dont turn off your computer installing updates" then it gets stuck at 15 % then it goes to a black screen that i think said something like "initiating updates in 0 outta 321472 files" this took a good hour to finish. Then brought me back to the 15% screen then that changed to "Updates Failed" and something else, then the computer restarted.

WHAT DO I DO?? could it possibly be a virus???

My computer will not shut completely off when I shut it down. The light for the wireless internet connect does not go black, it turns orange, saying that it is off but now the orange light does not come off unless I hold the power button down. Also when my computer goes to sleep, when I press a key to turn it back on, it does not turn on. The screen stays black and the wireless internet connection light is orange. It does not boot back up anymore.

Hi, Try the following. Open Settings and select System. Select Power and sleep, then click on Additional power settings - in the following window, click on 'Choose what the power button does' in the left hand pane. In the subsequent window, first click on 'Change settings that are currently unavailable' ( near the top of the Window ) and then remove the checkmark from the box against 'Turn on fast start-up (recommended)'. Click the Save Settings button, then close any open windows and restart the notebook. When windows has reloaded, download the IMEI driver directly from Intel on the following link, unzip the package and run the installer. https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/26127/Intel-Management-Engine-Consumer-Driver-for-Intel-NU... When the installation has completed, restart the notebook. When the machine has reloaded, re-enable Fast Start-up and reboot the notebook once again - let Windows fully load for a few minutes before checking. Regards, DP-K

Hi- I was hoping someone can help me. I originally posted in the possible virus forum and was redirected here...

Some symptoms:
-computer will not shut off or restart, task manager will not appear and i can not shut off the computer using ctrl+alt+del
-desktop went gray
-AVG Free stopped working and began showing these "update have been installed must restart" warnings (but I cannot restart)
-I cannot perform a system restore
-firefox now crashes everytime it is opened, despite an uninstall/reinstall

I use Windows XP Professional on a Toshiba Satellite. Until this morning, I had AVG Free. I uninstalled it because I was afraid that was the problem, but it didnt help.

I have tried: updating XP, checking my drivers, performed a "chkdsk" but could not do a fix.

Any suggestions? I feel like I have tried as much as I can from reading online articles. Please help!!

Might be a failing Hard drive. Get to your bios and see if there is any diagnostics there to do a hard drive test. On some motherboards its delete on others its F2. If there is no diagnostics on the bios i would make a USB bootable diagnostics and do that.
I just had the same problems and found out the hard way that it was a hard drive.

When I start up my pc, I get a screen that says, "We apologize for the inconvenience, but Windows did not start successfully, a recent hardware or software change may have caused this, ….etc."
Then I am offered with a bunch of options to either:

1) Start in Safe Mode
2) Safe Mode with Networking
3) Safe Mode with Command Prompt
4) Start Windows Normally
5) Last Known Good Configuration

None of them work, the safe mode ones, show a bunch of lines of code as per normal when starting up safe mode, then it freezes and stops and eventually goes back to the screen mentioned above. Same for 4 and 5, windows blue loading bar screen comes up, then the screen turns black and nothing. After a few mins my computer restarts again and goes back to the screen mentioned above.

hello and to start off i'd like to thank anyone who takes time to read this and try to help me out, thank you.

I'm running win xp sp2.

On July 1st an infected file was downloaded and run. AVG and Winpatrol noticed this and prompted the user to take action. The user checked to block all changes that the infected file tried to make, and deleted the file. Then music started to come from the speakers. All kinds of completly random stuff that is not installed on the computer. In task manager there was a file "c.exe" after ending this process the music stopped and it never came back. I don't know if it is related, but the next day the computer started to have problems.

Gaim 99% of the time hangs and timeouts when trying to connect a screen name. I do not have a firewall and windows one is disabled.

To get firefox to work, i had to open the browser, it wouldnt appear on screen but the process showed in task manager. Then i used task manager to end the process tree. Then when i opened the browser it would open but run slowly. This no longer works. Now when i click to open it nothing happens and the process does not show up in task manager.

Internet explorer works fine and that is what i'm using to write this. The computer was also having this overall lag with everything i'd try to do on it. Also my Limewire, Bit comet and other p2p s/w's have stopped connecting for some reason. I'm not sure if all these problems are related to each other.

Well, first off, you need to run two programs for us to help you.

You need to go get a program called Kazaabegone: http://mysite.verizon.net/vze70jw2/

And the Bearshare is the Newdotnet: http://mysite.verizon.net/vze70jw2/

Also go here and download these two programs FIRST!
Zone Alarm Free http://www.majorgeeks.com/download388.html (it's a firewall)
AVG Free http://www.majorgeeks.com/download886.html (it's an A/V)

Once you have all that done, come back and post and I'll tell you what else you need to do next Liz

All this began when I was running Macromedia Dreamweaver MX and it locked up forcing me to shut down.

A:Solved: files wont open and downloads wont work

Try this fix: EXEFIX

Unzip the fix and extract the .reg file to the desktop. Double-click it to merge it to the registry. Note that you need to be an Administrator to apply this fix.

Reboot the computer.

If the fix only opens as a text file, right-click it and select Open With > Choose Program... Then, select the Registry Editor.

If the Registry Editor is not in the list, browse to C:\WINDOWS and select regedit.

Hi and welcome to TSF this is from the manual
Returning your system to its factory condition
If your computer experiences problems that are not recoverable by other methods, you may need to reinstall everything to
return your system to its factory condition. You can reinstall using either your hard drive or the recovery discs you have
created.
Caution: This complete recovery deletes everything on your hard drive, then reinstalls Windows and all
software and drivers that were pre-installed on your system. If you can access important files on your
hard drive, back them up now.
• If you can still run Windows, see “Recovering from within Windows” below.
• If you cannot run Windows and your original hard drive is still working, see “Recovering from the hard drive during startup”
on page 49.
• If you cannot run Windows and your original hard drive has been completely re-formatted or you have installed a
replacement hard drive, see “Recovering from your recovery discs” on page 49.
Recovering from within Windows
To reinstall Windows and all pre-installed software and drivers:
1. Click on Start > All Programs > Packard Bell, then click on Packard Bell Recovery Management. Packard Bell
Recovery Management opens.
2. Click on the Restore tab, then Restore system to factory default. The Confirm Restoration dialogue box opens.
3. Click on Yes, then Start. A dialogue box displays information about the hard drive that the operating... Read more

Hi,

I've had SO much trouble with my Norton Internet Security of late. I've used the program for three years now with no dramas however, around a week ago it started only wanting to open when it felt like it! Then a few days later our computer received the virus backdoor.tidserv. I believe its been removed as I have used Malwarebytes and SDFix. Everything is now back on track EXCEPT Norton! When Norton started running its live update program it simply shutdown - never to start up again only stating - 'this norton product won't open' lol, thats it. It did have a download link to Symantec's website however, it has done nothing. Still not opening I wanted to uninstall HOWEVER, it freezes on the uninstall! I tried the Norton Removal Tool (lol FROM Symantec) however, this for some reason wont allow me to download stating something about Ports FTP.. I hae no idea about all that. So, I'm now here .. If somebody has an idea ANY WHICH WAY to tackle this be it a better program to get rid of Norton or.. how to fix the ports .. maybe I have a virus I dont know about??

HELP! please... Also, if I do go around getting rid of Norton would anyone know a free internet security system to tie me over til I get to the shops??

Thanks...

A:Norton Internet Security - Wont open! Wont uninstall?! Virus?

Hi .Symantec is not the only company which makes malware-defense programs which are effective, I used NAV, NIS, and NSW for about 6 years as I experimented with programs.First thing you need to do is remove NIS, using the Norton Removal Tool - http://service1.symantec.com/Support/tsgen...;pkb=sharedtech There are any number of free AV programs and free firewalls which do the job. I believe that this forum has a list of such, if not...just Google and read.Did you try just...uninstalling via Add/Remove Programs?Louis

I would post a log file but the computer will not load any of the ones i have tried. I have tried booting into safe mode with the same problem. tried the various .com .exe (ect) of the rkill and its variations

Heres the story in a nutshell

Got up yesterday morning to get on the computer, tried to load up firefox and nothing. I started trying other programs with the same result. The programs will not load, I can see them in services momentarily and the svchost pops up and the file dissapears from the services.

All of my malware related services are stopped and wont open. I cannot load scr pif exe com bat or anything else if its related to antivirus or malware or internet. adobe suite still opens and some (not all) exes and other files mentioned above will work

i have tried to boot into safe mode and run malwarebytes wouldnt work. i renamed it and its extention many times with no luck.

I loaded up the most recent hirens boot cd and got into windows xp mini. managed to install malware bytes but it found nothing.

A:Many exe bat scr and other files wont load

Got it working finally. Used a program to reissue the credentials for tdsskiller. that allowed me to load tdskiller in a minixp session (hirens boot cd) it found a rootkit, removed it and was able to get rkill and maleware bytes to load. im cleaning the rest of it up now.

It could be a hardware issue with the PC.

Try this first and see if there is any connectivity to your router/modem - even if just local -

Boot into SAFEMODE w/Networking by tapping the F8 key repeatedly during boot-up and use the down-arrow key to make the selection.

How do I know if 1492 is the right number? This problem just started yesterday, how did it happen?

Any suggestions?

Hi, the first thing i could think of is bad browser configuration or Malware.
Make sure that pc has antivirus and antispyware check if you can update and perform a full scan.

Then switch on pc, keep pressing f8, choose safe mode, log in as administrator
now Can you access the internet
Also in safe
click start then run type
inetcpl.cpl, click connection, then lan settings, make sure automatically detect settings i set, and make sure proxy server is not enabled.

Also find the firewall, in control panel, and temporary disable it.

please help thanks

A:my internet explorer wont load.

If you mean the home page not loading in Internet Explorer, first try going to another website such as bing.com or cnn.com to see if it works. If not, go to Tools --> Internet Options. Then click on the "Connections" tab and click on "LAN Settings". If anything is checked off there, uncheck and ensure nothing remains checked there. Click "OK" and "OK" again.

If this does not help or you did not have this problem, did Internet Explorer work properly? If so, try performing a System Restore to a date when it did work and see if that corrects the issue. If not, note any errors you receive when launching Internet Explorer.

I just bought this laptop about 10 days ago to use specifically for a writing project separate from my other work laptop. It has Windows 7. It had Google Chrome installed (or maybe my brother installed it upon taking it out of the box.) I have
used IE as my browser on this laptop once or twice, but mostly use Google Chrome. I downloaded some genealogy software I just bought today about an hour or so ago (Family Tree Maker 2012) and noticed that it would not connect to the internet to register- it
kept saying "No internet connection". After trying a few things (allowing the program access through Windows Firewall, checking to make sure that "proxy server" tab was not checked in Internet Settings, disabling some Bing Maps and Windows
Live email accelerators) and finally tried closing Chrome and opening IE to run in background instead. However, IE won't connect - keeps saying "Cant display webpage" although I am definitely connected to internet via wifi. I tried resetting Internet
Explorer...no dice. I've restarted several times. Nothing is working. Any suggestions?
My husband thinks i should uninstall Chrome, which he guesses is causing all the trouble with both IE and the Family Tree software. But I'm afraid that if I uninstall Chrome and it doesnt work, i wont be able to get back on the internet since I can presently
only do so through Chrome.

A:IE won't connect to internet, but Chrome is working fine. Other software wont connect to internet either.

Uninstalling Chrome should not be nessesary it does have an agressive default install which should not be used but uninstalling will not fix any issues because chromes uninstall will not change
setting back the way they were before you installed it/ or who ever.
Reset ie9 manually,
Click the Start button on the Taskbar,
Click on Control panel,
Click on Internet options,
Go to the Advanced section,
Click on Reset button on the bottom,
Check the box to Delete personal settings,
Use the recommended setup and install options.
