I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Hello everyone.

My problem is that my computer suddenly started to shutdown in the middle of nowhere. It have happened for a month now, but getting worse and worse for each day.

When it shut downs it will try and turn itself on, but is stuck in a never-ending boot-loop, until its shutdown completely and i wait an hour or 2, sometimes minutes are enough.

My windows log tells me that its a Power Kernel 41 (63) error.

This is what i have already researched and done so far:

1. Overnight Memtest = RAM is showing no errors
2. Voltage from BIOS seems alright? 3.3V, 5V and 12,2V for the 3.3V, 5V and 12V marks.
It primarily happens when the PC is working hard, so 3D software like Autodesk programs and PC games. So i downloaded OCCT to test the PSU and GPU since i read that it is most likely one of those that is the problem.
3. Both the PSU and the GPU 3D test made the computer shutdown within minutes of the test. The temperatures didn't seem out of the ordinary though.

So now i am stuck in the process of finding out if its the GPU or PSU.
Bought a new GPU in August, 2013 and that was working fine for that month or so, until the error started occurring late September.

I hope someone can bring me some light, maybe tell me if i can narrow the problem down further. :)

Thank you in advance.

- Chris

Hello,

I just installed a brand new PSU Coolermaster 430W PSU and a BFG Geforce 6800GS OC agp video card.
The computer ran fine, I disabled the onboard video graphics by unistalling it via the device manager as my bios has no area to do that. It was playing games but I installed the new nvida drivers as the card recommended. The next day I had an internal power error screen. After i went into safe mode and by poking around online i thought maybe it was the driver so then i rolled back the driver and it was gone it booted up normally then four days later it has the same exact error: internal_power_error, 0x000000A0 (0x00000101, 0x00000007, 0xF78CE7A4, 0x00000000) I can't clear shadowing or cache in bios like the error says. The startup screen says i have it, i can change the onboard video memory from 128 to 8mb but not disable in bios, but it doesn't show up in device manager. It was an onboard geforce 4mx. This time the error happend I took out video card, used onboard but couldn't get drivers as they were uninstalled, so uninstalled and reinstalled geforce 6800 didn't work.

The past two days now I've been constantly getting distorted horizontal lines across my screen that frequently lead to BSOD, as well as an error message about my video card:

Display driver stopped responding and has recovered
Display driver ATI Radeon Family stopped responding and has successfully recovered.

I've tried reinstalling all the catalyst graphics drivers from 9.3 up to the latest 9.11 (using mobilitymodder for anything past 9.3). I also tried uninstalling everything and letting Win7 find the driver for me but still I get the same problems every time a graphics driver is installed. It's only when I run in safe mode or with no graphics driver installed that there's no problem (except for the screen being huge and no areo).

Is this really a driver problem, or is my video card dying? Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. I'm a student and NEED this laptop to work. I took a screen capture of the information (also attached a .txt file with dump info):

I get a BSOD while doing pretty much anything graphics intensive... Before my most recent fresh install of Windows 7, it used to happen while playing games (occasionally while playing StarCraft II or Half-Life 2: Episode 2) but it now is starting to occur (after the fresh install) more frequently and has spread to programs like After Effects. I started to get graphics glitches while rendering a composition (which spread to other programs like Firefox) followed by a BSOD listing the cdd.dll file to blame.

My event viewer states that there have been 3 BSOD's since I've reformatted all linked to a "Kernel-Power" error. I have no idea what this is.

I am hoping this is not a hardware issue, as I don't have the money to replace my video card on a yearly basis.

As i posted not long ago about my RAMs needing to be replaced because of them causing BSOD's on cold boot, well, after about 1 year i never got round to it, so this is what happened.
I booted my pc as always waiting for the BSOD to pop so i can work on it normally, and as it reached the password screen the resolution was probably 600x400! i normally don't bother typing in my password because if i wait a minute or so on the password screen it pops the BSOD and were laughing, but this time the resolution was low.
I'ts done this a couple of times and all i did was use System Restore to go back a day or so and it was fine, but this time there were no system restore points.
I changed the resolution to its highest (1600x1200) and went to Manage Hardware to see that my Graphics card (GeForce 460 GTX) had a yellow triangle next to it and the error code was code:43.
I tried updating its driver, reinstalling its driver, removing and replacing my graphics card but nothing.
I don't think it is a hardware problem because the screen looks fine and works fine at 1600x1200 but the Windows 7 Theme isn't how it used to be(No transparent toolbar etc).
Thanks in advance

P.S If you do manage to help me i promise i will send my RAMs for replacement next week.

Your card is dying. 2D display ie. Windows w/o Aero doesn't mean the card is perfectly fine. My 8800GTS started going crazy like how you have described yet showed the BIOS and windows w/o Aero ok (for a week atleast). I suggest a RMA or atleast trying it on a different PC. Do you have adequate ventilation in your case?

So, like the title says, I installed a new graphics card (MSI N670 PE 2GD5/OC) and since then my computer has been very unstable and is crashing a lot. The card is factory overclocked and I think it is faulty. Do you know of a way to underclock the card, so I can test if it is the overclock?

PSU: Enermax EMG700AWT

*edit*

So I used Afterburner to set my core clock to -104 and my power limit to 72% and this causes my card to boost to about 980MHz. With these settings the crashing has stopped. So the card cannot be used with the factory OC settings. So should I RMA?

A:BSOD after installing new Graphics Card, error 0x000000101

Hello theone320.

► As far as I am seeing, you are not overclocking.

Code:
kd> !sysinfo cpuspeed
CPUID: "Intel(R) Core(TM) i7 CPU 920 @ 2.67GHz"
MaxSpeed: 2670
CurrentSpeed: 2666
► Your dumps say stop 0x101, hardware related. Mostly CPU is the guilty for it.
Hardware - Stress Test With Prime95

► Test the graphics card, too!
Video Card - Stress Test with Furmark

► Another one generates 0x9C, which is just similar to 0x124.
Follow the suggestions, thoroughly: Stop 0x124 - what it means and what to try

► Are you still using IE8? Better you shift to IE9.

▼ But, the first option would be, ask the vendor to check the graphics card, and if it is faulty, get a replacement.

Hi there, my problem started a few weeks ago but i waited until i had saved some cash to post here in case the consensus is that i need a new graphics card. I think it started around the 3rd of September roughly.

I have tried for hours to fix this problem myself including doing complete fresh installation of the Nvidia drivers however anytime i try to start up with drivers installed i get the error from the thread title.

I am however able to start the computer and run it in normal instead of safe mode when i am using the default built in graphics.

Attached is my crash report.

HP 6910p has power (even the fan comes on) but does not boot. When one or both ram chips are in, the power button lights up before promptly powering off. This repeats with no end. Whenever I take the 2 ram chips out, the power button lights up and stays on but the screen stays black.

The only other symbol that lights up and stays on with the black screen is the mute sound symbol. The cd drive starts up but eventually goes out. The lightning bolt symbol shines orange for a second then goes out. WiFi symbol doesn't glow at all.

Important notes: the laptop makes two short beeps at the beginning of both scenarios. It has no battery and runs via plug. It came on the other day after removing all power, taking one of the rams out for a minute and putting it back in. I was able to log in and even use the internet. However it shut off by itself after about 30 minutes and this trick hasn't ever worked since.

When I walk away from my computer, after a while the screen goes black like it does when it goes to sleep. Sometimes it does actually go to sleep and the power button blinks, then I just press it to wake it up. However the majority of the time the screen goes black but the power button stays lit up. When this happens, pushing the power button or any key will not wake it up. I have to push and hold the power button to shut it down then turn it back on. This happens multiple times a day sometimes and can get very irritating.  I do not get any error messages or anything. The only recent thing is the update to windows 10 and my internet connection is through a mobile hotspot on my cell. Any help would be very much appreciated! Thanks!!!

Just got the notebook for my daughter for Christmas and this just happened:  I was trying to run the recommended HP updates and it said "installing" for a long time.  Meanwhile, I opened up Chrome and it locked up saying "not responding".  So I stopped the install action to see if it would help but to no avail.  Then I tried Ctrl-Alt-Del to get to the task manager but nothing.  Tried that several times.  I was finally able to get task manager open by right-clicking the task bar below.  Once in task manager I couldn't end task on Chrome.  Then I couldn't shut it down by holding the power button.  I was finally able to shut it down from the start menu.  Now the power light is on but notebook won't turn on.  I tried everthing I could find online so far with no luck.  The HP Support link was a dead link.  The only thing I am doing at the moment is trying to wear down the battery.  I've got a USB light plugged in and it is on.  Has anyone else had this problem?  Any solutions??  Thanks!

I'm having a problem with my computer monitor. It used to be okay but somehow the computer monitor power button is not green now, instead it's yellow, therefore there's nothing on the screen. I checked the power cable and connection to the cpu and it seems alright. I also shut down the computer and monitor and waited for a minute, the computer booted fine but when I turned on the monitor power button, it was green for a few seconds and then turned yellow.

Can somebody tell me what seems to be the problem with my monitor? And how would you suggest to fix it?
Thank you much.

A:Computer Monitor Power Button Stays Yellow

Check the cable from the monitor to the video adapter at the back of the case. Then you'll need to try another monitor. If it works the problem is inside the case. Making sure your video card if you have one is secure or trying another one would be next.

Hello all.
I recently had my computer fixed due to a power surge. The PSU, motherboard and Heatsink were replaced.
Once I got my PC back I re-installed Win7 and installed all the drivers using Windows Update.

However my computer now randomly reboots once a day ( Or once a session might sound better)

There is no link in time, or in programs being run. It has done it when Idle, when playing games, when just listening to music. There seems to be no common factor to why it does this.

Window logs the error as a Kernel-Power 41 (63) error in the Event viewer. With a BugcheckCode 0.
NO BSOD shows up even after enabling them
NO Memory Dump file is created.

Thanks for any help~

A:Random Restarts once a day [Kernel-Power Error]

Kernel-power usually means that the PC was forcefully restarted, like when someone hold the power-off button for 5 seconds and such. But forget that, it sounds like you've got yourself some kind of hardware error, as they almost never leave any logs on Event viewer. Ask whoever replaced your components to have a look, or if it was you, I'd say try running diagnostic programs to see what gives, just to make sure that the rams, GPU and HDD are okay. Also go into BIOS and have a look at the voltage on the 12v and post the values from it here. Just so you can cross them off the list of potential errors. In my case it turned out to be my PSU causing the freezes/crashes. The diagnostics I've ran are "geeksquad MRI" and some other from "Hiren's Boot", they can be both found on the internet.

i wanted to ask could this be because of SMPS/psu although it says 400watts but its locally built and so could be erronous.

Hello vishrocks and welcome to Seven Forums. You might find this Microsoft KB article helpful:

Quote:
The system randomly restarts and no Stop error BugcheckCode is listed, or the computer is completely unresponsive (hard hang)
To check whether this scenario is occurring, press the CAPS LOCK key on the keyboard. When you do this, if the CAPS LOCK light on the keyboard does not change when you press the CAPS LOCK key, the computer may be completely unresponsive (hard hang).

This scenario usually indicates a problem with the hardware. Another possibility is that a driver may cause this problem. To help isolate the problem, check the following items:Overclocking: Disable overclocking and see whether the issue happens when the system is run at the correct speed.
Check the memory: Verify the memory by using a memory checker. Verify that each memory chip is the same speed and that it is configured correctly in the system.
Power Supply: Make sure that the power supply has enough wattage to appropriately handle the installed devices. If you added memory, installed a newer processor, installed additional drives, or added external devices, such devices may require more energy than the current power supply can provide consistently.

Specs: Asus Q501LA Laptop
Windows 10 (upgraded from Windows 8.1, and I've had this error back in Windows 8) 64 bit (10.0, Build 10240)
Intel Core i5-4200 U CPU @ 1.6Ghz, ~2.3Ghz

Basically, when I put my computer into sleep mode, it sometimes doesn't turn back on normally. It used to have a crash as soon as I take it out of sleep mode, where the computer would instantly shut off once I opened the lid. After turning off "Fast Startup" from the Power Options, I thought it would fix the problem, and the Kernel-Power error, but it still persists.

I've tried a lot of things to fix this error and research this issue, but haven't gotten it fixed.

Here's the Event Viewer log for the Kernel-Power error

Hi Vladz0r,

Unless you see a bluescreen, or find a dump file located at [windows partition]\windows\minidump\ because you weren't there when the bluescreen showed up, its not a bluescreen.
If this is the case (not having a dump file in the minidump folder) please create a new thread in the Performance and Maintenance forum

I have for a long time, used the chassis's power button to shut computers down; there's nothing wrong with that, Windows has be designed to do this for a long time.

What I've noticed though, is that every time I use the power button, I get a critical error in event viewer: Event ID: 41 Kernal-Power 'The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly'.

Thing is, the system appears to shut-down perfectly fine!?

Any help would be much appreciated!

Hi for the last 4 months ive been trying to fix a problem that ive been having with my computer.
about 4 months ago I did a major pc upgrade where i replaced my motherboard, processor, ram, heat sink, power supply and case, the only things I used from the original computer where 2 HDD's, 1 SDD and my AMD radeon HD 6950 2gb.

Now ive have the most strange issue where i can be watching a video off the HDD or surfing the web on youtube etc and not long after I start the activity my computer will turn off like if I had flicked the switch on the back of the power supply and then it boots back up again and will run fine until i start up an activity again and then it does exactly the same thing and reboots, there is no BSOD shown nor Dumps Created.

Ive tried many things to sort this out and have RMA'ed the power supply and the motherboard (the motherboard wasn't a direct replacement as they didn't sell my original board anymore which was a gigabyte ga-x79-ud5, now i have an asus p9x79 deluxe). I have tried only plugging in one HDD/SSD and then tried a spare HDD when that failed, i have tried one ram stick at a time and still nothing.

now heres where it gets strange whilst trying to rule out differnt hardware i switched my AMD card out for a very old 512mb, pcie 1.0 x16 nvidia graphics and since then my computer has been running marvelously i can have it playing videos for hours, days even(although i havent properly tested for days) and not a single problem at all.

The comparison you are making between GPU brands is pointless as a diagnostic. The MAIN difference I can see is that one card requires external power, and the other one does not. A proper diagnostic would be to test another GPU that requires external power.

I've heard that the specific PSU you bought will sometimes not power all the hardware it is supposed so.
People saying it could barely power a SSD, or even an extra fan.

My thoughts. Try using another PSU, try using a similar GPU. Use your old PSU and see if it still happens for starters.

No particular activity will trigger this event (no BSOD). I've run memtest, chkdsk, malwarebytes, gpu-z, cpu-z, Nothing seems out of the ordinary. Temperature ranges are consistently around 26C. I've left it on for the last 48 hours with the covers off and a fan blowing directly at the inside of the case and it has shutdown 8 times. This happens even when it is idling. Truly bizarre, definitely frustrating. Need some help here isolating this "gremlin" and regaining control of my machine. ASUS GT240 graphics card "ERROR CAN NOT FIND GRAPHICS CARD" Can anyone help me with this error message? I can hear the windows startup sound but it shows no display so i plugged the cable into the motherboad and an error box opend wich stated "ERROR CAN NOT FIND GRAPHICS CARD" with no additional information. I searched online and found that asus smart doctor can cause this and they recommend that you uninstall and reinstall the drivers to fix this problem but the pc is not picking up the graphics card to reinstall all the needed drivers. I also found people with the same problem and after they did a clean install of windows7/vista and all the drivers the error box still appeared. Does anyone know how to resolve this problem? Your help will be greatly appreciated.

A:ASUS GT240 graphics card "ERROR CAN NOT FIND GRAPHICS CARD"

Do you have the PCIe set as first to initialize in the BIOS? Also, have you tried the card in another slot on the MoBo? Have you tried cleaning out the slot with canned air? Have you tried using a pencil eraser to gently clean the contacts in the GPU where it plugs into the PCIe?

And please, thoroughly fill out your System Specs by clicking on the tab under your post.

So i just bought a new Gigabyte GTX 770, had a 650 before and everything worked. I have the Gigabyte GA-970a-ud3 mainboard with 2 PCI-E Slots, both 16x but one runs with 4x. If i put the graphics card in the top slot (16x) LEDs light up and fans start running , i hear the windows 7 welcome screen sound through the speakers but the screen stays black, but if i put the card in the bottom slot (4x) everything works, besides the fact that the graphics card is slow as hell.
Both PCI power cables plugged into it, i tried removing all drivers, resetting cmos.
I dont know what could possibly be wrong but maybe you do, so thanks in advance

Mega BSOD problems. Error 124: Hardware

My Last mobo (Asus M2N32 WS Pro) died 2 days after installing a new GPU (Saphire Radeon HD 5770)

Unfortuantly I couldn't find that mobo, or anything similar as it is 4 yearold build.
I bought a Gigabyte MA770-UD3 so that I could get the PC working and save up for a proper upgrade
(as i couldn't afford it at the moment, and thought i could just sell/give away this pc when i did a new build, with the Bulldozer and SANDY Bridge processors coming out Q1 next year around the same time as I get my bonus it seemed the most finacially viable option)

I bought a new heatsink as the mobo was smaller and my ram would not have fitted with my old one.
I also ordered a copy of windows 7 and a velociraptor drive from elsewhere.

The mobo and HS arrived but I was still waiting for the win 7 and raptor.
I installed everything correctly and turned my pc on.
I knew i was going to have some issues with drivers etc as I was using a brand new mobo and my copies of windows were set up for an old one.
However I kept on getting frozen and the PC restarting...
I assumed that this was caused by driver issues and that I should just wait for the new HD and win 7. (this had not happened o

On installing win 7 every time it restarted and got to the "completing installation" the pc would just crash and restart and then would say i had to reinstall windows.

I pulled out one of the front usb leads and only left the raptor hd plugged in and managed t... Read more

Hi. Before registering I read all similiar threads regarding to my problem. I didn't solved it. So, I decided to open a new one and get help from you guys.

I bought a new processor, AMD Sempron 2800+, a new Foxconn NF3 motherboard and a 512MB DDR memory. I didn't had problems installing them, but when I started using my new machine on a new Windows my problems appeared.

My computer keeps restarting, and I don't know why! Computer restarts only when I am trying to encode some video (DVD to Divx or similiar) and I tried to encode with different tools - nah, that doesn't help - it's still restarting.

I saw that my machine is reporting BSOD with a error: MACHINE_CHECK_EXCEPTION.

I thought it was a memory but I downloaded memtest and passed 3-4 with no errors. My temperature is 40 C, so processor is not the problem. I have power supply of 400W (bought in 2006) and I didn't had any of problems with it. I am stuck here for 3 weeks and I don't know what to do. Can you help me? Here are my minidumps.

I have installed an xbox 360 controller for steam games and a medical transcription foot pedal for school/work. If that helps in any way.

I checked the event logs and found 5 critical messages - one for every time it restarted. That all said kernel-power was the source. There is no minidump folder and searches for memory.dpm came up empty. Doing some research on google for this kernel-power error brought up many different answers - from outdated drivers to disabling sleep mode to possible hardware issues.

I would really appreciate some help, brand new computers shouldn't do this!

hi nate1232, welcome to the forums the first thing to do is check the wiring and cards to make certain they are tightly connected and not loose then run the system file checker, sfc /scannow to make certain you have no corrupted system files

Hi guys,

My machine has been playing up lately. It has started to be very slow of late and now and again it just restarts itself. I did get an error last time this happened which was:

"The driver for the display devive was unable to complete a drawing operation. Please check with the device manufacturer for a driver update.

The display driver for NVIDIA RIVA TNT2 Model 64 seems to be responsible for the system instability."

Ive had my machine ages and never had a problem with this card or the drivers for it, does anybody know what i can do about this and where i could get any driver updates i need?

Thanks

A:Graphics card error?

I've been playing the same games for a long time on my dimension e310 desktop. recently however the games that have run fine before are doing things like show white squares where buttons are and not displaying interactive content. is my graphics card corrupt or damaged or is it simply time to get a quad core with a x16 pci express port?

A:Graphics card error?

Which card are you using? Have you recently updated your graphics drivers?

Hello. 2 weeks ago or so, I had this annoying error with my graphcis card.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gi9VDNOIUsw In this youtube video you can see the problem. This is a problem that happens in all the games I play.

I am using:
Windows 7 Home Premium
GeForce GTX 560
Intel Core i7-2600 3.40GHz
Power Supply Corsair GS700

Could it be that my graphics card is dying?

A:Graphics card error

I've not seen that exact error before. But those type of issues are typically the result of a faulty video card or power supply.

Hi all,

I've tried adding a PCI Graphics card into my mom's computer. Before that she only had 1 card - a linksys wireless G adapter that was working fine.

After slotting in the graphics pci card, the message "Resource Conflict - PCI Display Controller in Slot 02. Bus: 01, Device: 09, Function: 00" appeared.

I looked high and low in the BIOS settings page to set IRQ values but there was no such area tat I could do that.

The BIOS is a Phoenix 4.0 Release 6.0.A

Any idea how I can resolve this problem?
