Preferred Solution: Microsoft Windows Mobile Remote Adapter -from windows update Install failed - Where can I find this so I can retry to re-install - mobile device does not connect

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

A: Microsoft Windows Mobile Remote Adapter -from windows update Install failed - Where can I find this so I can retry to re-install - mobile device does not connect

Your best option may be to open device manager (with device connected) and uninstall any related device, making sure the 'Delete driver software for this device' is checked.Once you have done this, unplug your device, uninstall WMDC 6.1 and reboot your machine. Then follow the instruction on my first reply, this should sort it for you.If anyone is helpfull, please click the 'Vote as helpfull' icon.

So Update tells me there is a recommended program, "Microsoft Corporation - Networking - Microsoft Windows Mobile Remote Adapter" that was published on 9/14/07. Now, this update was just informed to me after I had already installed the Vista Sync Center for my PPC6700. So, I am sync up as far as I know (other than the fact I do not have Outlook installed on this computer so nothing is actually synced with anything).

So the details are as follows:
Microsoft Corporation - Networking - Microsoft Windows Mobile Remote Adapter

Download size: 11.4 MB

You may need to restart your computer for this update to take effect.

Update type: Recommended

Microsoft Corporation Networking software update released in May, 2007

More information:

Help and Support:
Well, first off when I click on the link for more info, I get told that my system is not compatible. Turns out MS forces you to use IE. Blah. So, I pop the link for more information in IE, and get a page that tells me:

"Update drivers: recommended links
Applies to all editions of Windows Vista."

Wow, really? Is that what that does? Next thing they will tell me that there is a button I can press that will turn my machine off *sigh*

A:New Stupid Update with no info (MS Windows Mobile Remote Adapter)

Hi. I don't know what your update is for but Microsoft likes to offer you "recommended" updates even though you have the latest or best driver. I have the most up-to-date video card (beta) drivers, and network card drivers, and monitor, but Microsoft insists that I need their recommended updates. My parts work fine without them, so I suggest you don't download those if you are not sure what they are.

I am running Vista 32 bit. I downloaded from MS the Windows Mobile Device Center installation file. When I run the install, the progress bar gets down to the very end, says 0 secs left, then it sits there for about 15 seconds and then the progress bar goes backward and all the install dialogs go away with no message. And the program is not installed. When I rebooted the screen is blank, Vista does not boot fully.

I restored the computer from an image I had made previously with Norton Ghost. I downloaded a new copy of WMDC and ran the install, it did the same thing.

Any ideas?

A:Cannot install program Windows Mobile Device Center

I was avoiding restarting the computer for fear it would give a blank screen again, but I did restart it and it seems ok, so it did not corrupt Vista like before.

But I do not see WMDC in the Start menu. Now I am wondering if it is not supposed to show up since WMDC is just a driver, (I think) not really an application. Maybe it will start automatically when I plug in the phone, which is not here right now, my wife returns with it later.

Hmm interesting the only thing I could think of is try to make sure you disconnect all outside connections from the lifebook and see if it goes away otherwise its recognizing something in the computer as a device. Sorry I couldn't really help you just figured I'd give it a try, anyone else good with WMDC? I've never used it before.

We have some symbol windows mobile-based handheld devices that we use in our business.  We connect these devices to our computers to copy files to.  This all worked fine until recently the devices come up as failed.

Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged.  (Code 19)
I've tried all the solutions I can find on the web and none of them work.
Uninstall the device in device manager and scan for changes.  It downloads the driver from windows-update and returns to code 19.
Tried hardware troubleshooter which basically seems to automate the process of uninstalling and scanning.
I've tried removing windows media player 12 feature and adding it back.
I've tried deleting USB controllers from Device Manager and rebooting, it re-detects them all and still gets code 19 on the device.
I've tried deleting upper and lower filter values in the registry which I found out later is mainly for CD/DVD devices, that didn't fix anything.
I've tried removing and re-installing Windows Mobile Device Center and driver pack and that did not fix it either.
Additionally Canon Powershot camera gives us similar results.  MTP USB Device failed.

Thanks for posting in Microsoft TechNet forums.

Do you have Kaspersky installed? Kaspersky Filter driver caused that any USB device could not connect.

It is suggested to have a look at the following registry. Make a backup of it and remove the Upperfilters setting:

“Upperfilters” = klfltdrv

If the issue persists, please find a working machine and compare the registry settings.

After what seems like an eternity of waiting, Microsoft has finally released the Windows 10 Mobile Anniversary Update. The news comes two weeks after all of the other Windows 10 platforms saw the update, and Dona Sarkar said it would be available in the coming weeks.

The build that you'll be seeing today is 14393.67, which is a cumulative update that was offered to Insiders a week ago. If it's not entirely obvious, you'll need a phone that's officially supported for Windows 10 Mobile to grab today's update.

The Anniversary Update brings quite a few new features to your device. For one thing, Wallet now supports tap-to-pay. Well, to be more specific, it only supports NFC payments if you subscribe to one of seven banks and your phone is a Lumia 650, 950, or 950 XL.

You'll also find a few camera improvements, which is also exclusive to certain devices. Windows Camera will now have a panorama feature, and on the lock screen, you'll notice that the back button turns into a camera button.

Aside from improvements to Cortana and the Action Center, perhaps the most important improvement is the new UWP Skype Preview app. One of its biggest new features is that it won't beshut down in early 2017 like its Windows Phone 8 predecessor. It also supports light and dark themes, which is something that's huge in the Windows world.

Those are just a few of the improvements that you'll see in today's update. You can check out our full re... Read more

I have recently bought Samsung galaxy S5 device. When I tried to connect it to my computer I nothing happend (what should have happen is that it will pop up the "What do you want to do? Go to folder/..." menu).
So I tried another usb socket. still the same problem. I have Ubunto install as a sperate OS on my computer, and there everything is working fine - so the problem is not in the cable/USB on my computer.

I went to Device manager and under "Portable devices" I see the "SAMSUNG Mobile MTP Device" icon with a yellow mark. I open it and I see "this device is not working properly because windows cannot load the drivers required for this device. (code 31)". I also have "SAMSUNG Mobile USB Modem" under modem in device manager (but it says that this device is working properly).
I tried to remove the "SAMSUNG Mobile MTP Device" and double click it and choose "update driver"->"search online". It found the driver but was unable to install it (got a "access deined" screen).

I don't know the answer to this, but I see you've had many views and no replies.
I'm sure that you've googled this and it isn't to patronize you, but here are a couple things I've found that MAY help.

Possible Solution 1:
"Access Denied" Message During USB Device Installation - National Instruments

Possible Solution 2:
When installing the driver(s),

Even though you allowed admin in your user profle and allowed it to run in admin, this does not give you full control for all users. Do the following below. Then, Logoff, login with the new admin owner. Only the owner of this pc has full user rights.
Its worth a shot

How to enable the hiding admin account for login
1- In the run type: secpol.msc
2- Find and click on, Local Policies, security options,
3- Over to the Right in the policy setting, (accounts: Administrators account status) Enable
Close tht and got to
1- Run, lusrmgr.msc
2- Create a new user, or use Administrater, Built-in account for administering.
3- Right click, Properties
4- Uncheck, Account is disabled
If you chose you can change the name and add a password, now when you log off you can have the options to log in as admin, owner of this pc and have controll over all users. its better to have th admin login the the below

Or this but sometimes this method has failed and sometimes not

net user administrator /active:yes ,you have admin until reboot, or you go no.

We are using the Microsoft "Windows Device Portal" REST API to do mobile app side-loading.
Everything in the REST API is working for us except for the "uninstall app" which is a "http rest delete" call.
So, to troubleshoot, I thought I would use Microsoft "Message Analyzer" to see if we could see the http traffic coming to and from the workstation to the mobile device over the USB.
I didn't want to install the Fiddler .net library and it looks like if you are on W10, then you can use the Microsoft-Windows-WinINet-Capture provider.
My steps:
0. Start "Microsoft Message Analyzer" in admin mode
1. click "New Session"
2. click "LiveTrace" button
3. Add providers:
    a. Microsoft-Windows-WinINet
    b. Microsoft-Windows-WinINet-Capture

OK, so interestingly, that Microsoft website didn't work in IE9, but worked in FireFox. LOL!

FF allowed me to DL some program that spat out a "validation code" to enter into the website to download the WMDC file.

Judging by the file name, it turns out that I did download that file years ago, but it doesn't look like I ever downloaded the "validator". Must be something new with Microsoft. I guess it must be quite new...because it doesn't work on their OWN website with their OWN browser! rofl!

I need anyone who can help, to read this thread here...Unable to connect pda to Vista - Vista Forums

Here is the short version: WMDC does not recognize devices. HOWEVER, the Vista does recognize the USB connecting something, it does "seem" to install drivers but actually says "searching for unknown driver files" yet above that states "your device is ready to use" (now that staement in and of itself does not go together, but none the less I am not alone in seeing it. See other thread for better details)

Heres the question --- does anyone have a work around/alternative program/stand alone drivers that will allow Vista to see/comunicate with PDA's???????

Hmm, honestly my first time hearing about this.

When I plug in a device a notification on top right part of screen pops up asking what I want to do with this device. WMDC window never popped up.

I thought this was only if you have a windows phone. It shouldn't open up for any random device, only your phone.

You can set it up to "do nothing" when a device is plugged in,
but this would mean every time you plug in a new device,
in the upper right-hand corner to click the notification and selecing "do nothing"

You can try the following:
Plug your device into the computer
Press Windows key + R In the open field type: devmgmt.msc
Look under Network adapters for Microsoft Windows Mobile Remote Adapter, right click on it and select uninstall.
Next look under Mobile Devices for Microsoft USB Sync, right click and uninstall.
Now unplug your device and plug it back in, and see if WMDC launches.
If some reason device manager is not picking up the device after plugging it back in, just right click on the computer name in device manager and select scan for hardware changes.

I have an HP rp5700 system which is connected to a Windows Mobile (6.1) device. If the mobile device is plugged in and turned on, the computer will hang on the HP Event bootup options screen. None of the options will be displayed at the bottom. If I then either a) unplug the device b) undock the device or c) turn off the device, the boot options will appear, and Windows will then boot up without an issue.

I tried changing the boot order, but to no avail. I've also tried unplugging the device, going into BIOS, and plugging the device back in - the BIOS screen gets really, really sluggish until I unplug/undock/switch off the device.

The BIOS is up to date. This doesn't happen with Windows XP Pro, only Windows 7 (Professional, 32-bit). One suggestion I heard was that Windows 7 has issues with connected devices it thinks are USB flash drives (although the device in question isn't in USB mode at the time). I have no other USB devices connected, as the mouse and keyboard are both PS2.

Has anyone seen this behavior before? Did you find a solution?

First of all, I must say I had the driver and the device center installed and working perfectly with my cell phone, which runs Win Mobile 6.
But, I had to hardreset my cell, and then the problems began.
The windows refuses to recognize my mobile device, it appears as Unknown Device. I thought: It must be a problem with the device center. So I uninstalled the mobile center and the driver. I downloaded, from the official microsoft website, the device center and everytime i try to install it, this error appears:

Anyone has any idea of what i should do?

I just bought a new phone, (o2 XDA Flame) and I can't get syncing working.

Whenever I try to install Windows Mobile Device Centre, it fails. I run the installer, it seems to do nothing. Under control panel -> Hardware, and onthe start menu, theres a link to Windows Mobile Device Center, but it doesn't actually launch anything. No errors, just nothing comes up at all. Except for the first time I ran it, when it said something about installing, but then disapeared.

When I try to connect the phone to the PC, it fails - Can't find the driver. The phone came with a CD, but there weren't any drivers on it.

Theres also now an item in Windows Update (Windows Mobile Remote Adaptor), but trying to install that fails.

I am running Windows Vista Ultimate x64, with SP1 - every update besides the one mentioned is installed.

If anyone has any ideas on how to fix this, I would apreciate it.

How can I remove a file from a windows mobile device?

The setup is: Windows CE with a MCL (Language) Project connected through Activesync.
I've created a batch script to copy a file from the device to a local folder and give it an unique filename. But I would also like to remove the file copied.

Copying the file is done by using the Windows XP Mobile Device Powertoy:

But I am looking for a Tool like CECopy to delete a file from the device on the following location:

And the script:

@echo off

echo **************************************************
echo ** Copy AB.dat to local folder with unique name **
echo **************************************************

echo Rename Previous Exported File:

cd "MCL3"

cd "ManualBarcodeExport"

ren c:\MCL3\ManualBarcodeExport\ab.dat "%random%"ab.txt

echo Copy Scanned Serials To Local Folder:

cd "program files"

cd "Windows Mobile Developer Power Toys"

cd "CECopy"

cecopy "dev:\Application\MCL\Projects\Default\ab.dat" C:\MCL3\ManualBarcodeExport\ab.dat

Looking at the Bitlocker/Device Encryption Recovery Keys section on OneDrive, it doesn't show any Windows 10 Mobile recovery keys there despite 'Device Encryption' being switched on.

On the actual device itself, it also doesn't show as encrypted under 'Storage', which begs the question, is 'Device Encryption' even on? Other than physically trying to access data on a locked phone, there doesn't appear to be a way to tell if the device storage is actually encrypted or not other than the toggle switch for enabling/disabling Device Encryption being set to on. In which case, if it is on, where are the recovery keys stored for Windows 10 Mobile Devices?

Hello all

I have been trying to connect my Compaq 3970 to my new Aspire M3200 PC which has a Vista OS. The original installation software was rejected by Vista and I was directed to download Windows Mobile Device Center. When the PDA is in it's cradle it will connect with the PC and I can see it in "My Computer" but when I click on "Set up your device" I get an error message "There is a problem with your connection. Please disconnect and reconnect your device and try again". I have tried this a number of times and get the same message. The PDA is connected to the PC via USB.

I would appreciate any advice

Thanks in advance

I have a windows mobile phone running WM 6.1.I have windows mobile device center installed on my laptop. The problem is when i try connecting my phone to my laptop using USB cable, windows device center initiates then says connecting for few minutes then gives message error with a big red X mark.

And if this info helps in my firewall settings i have enabled wmdc.exe as trusted application.

I just wanted to sync my phone's contacts and stuff with my laptop through active sync

I currently have a very severe problem with the Windows Mobile Device center program. I have tried to uninstall it the old conventional way and it is still appearing as a program on my programs list and it still runs normally yet it does not appear on remove programs list in my control panel. I would like to remove it completely because i believe it is interfering with my itunes. Ever since i have downloaded the program my itunes wont even open, i simply get a msg saying there is an error and i need to reinstal it. So if anyone is aware of a simple method to remove WMDC off my computer permanently and easily plz let me know.

A:Windows Mobile Device Center. Help needed!

Well here is the conventional way (you have to remove two components from Add/Remove Programs)

Open the Start menu

Click Control Panel

Click on Uninstall or Change a Program

Select Windows Mobile Device Center from the program list and click Uninstall

Select Windows Mobile Device Center Driver Update from the program list and click Uninstall
You can also try to remove it using the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility. Install and run this utility and then remove anything to do with Windows Mobile Device Centre. Since the Microsoft download website doe not appear to be working, I have attached the installer.
