Q: yoga 13 wifi issues

My yoga will connect to my wifi network only once. I then need to reboot my wifi router. No other devices in the house have this problem and the network is always still active. I get two messages and not sure why I get one and not the other. The messages basically say either network not available (but it is) or that something has changes and it asks for the network password but then wont connect either. My network adapter is Realtek RTL8723AU. I have made sure all drivers are up to date, tried changing power saving options so they dont turn off adapter. Does anyone have any idea how to fix this?

Hey, So I bought the new 700 yoga with the core i7 this past week. I had some issues with the wifi and have been scouring the internet and can not find a fix for the incredibly slow wifi. My internet is fios with 40 up and down and can get that speed on my lenovo thinkpad, y series laptop, and cell phone. But this the only laptop that has windows 10 installed and when i run either speedtest.net or the internet health test this laptop will not get anything close to that. I have installed all the windows update and disabled the peer to peer update and every information sharing option in the settings. The speeds i can get in the first minute of turning on the laptop is 8 down and 20ish up. After one or two minutes the down and upload speeds drop to 0.1mbps down and up and it will time out the internet constantly. Anyone else having issues like this? I called the tech support line and since I am getting some wifi connection the support service said it is not a hardware issue and is a software issue but for the support i would have to pay to on a laptop i had less than a week.Any help would be great.

MY yoga 900 arrived yesterday and I haven't been able to connect to WFI for more then few minutes before experiencing heavy drop outs. Not only that, but it is  interfering with all other devices connected to the same wifi and I loose signal on all devices(MY phone and my wife laptop). The only way to get back the connection on those devices is to power down  the yoga completely. It is the first time I experience this kind of interference. I suspected the problem was a compatibility issue between my router and the yoga. So I took the yoga to the office today and the same things happened!?!! All devices in the office lost the WIFI  unless I turn off the machine.... Any help? Thanks!

K, I found that if i go to intel WIFI adapter settings and I choose 802.11 b things works well except I get slow connection. However I just noticed a new problem: the touchpad is freezing for few secs from time to time and I can't move the pointer.

If I go just one room away from my router I lose connection.  I have went to device manager in win10 and unchecked where it says to allow windows to manage power to it, but still no luck.   Getting a little depressed by this as I have read many posts where users just could not resolve this problem on my pc.  Any thoughts? I have also updated to the latest wifi driver from the lenovo site.

I just got my Yoga 2, and I am really enjoying it, however, I am running into a contant problem of the WiFi connection going 'limited' when connected to the network.  I never lose WiFi connection. I have updated my driver to the latest version available on the support site (17.0.0.34), and disabled the power managment for the WiFi, as many other posts have suggested. None of my other devices are having issues.  My router is an Apple Time Capsule.

Hi, I bought a brand new Lenovo Yoga 910 series laptop, costing a fortune. Its not even 20 days since I bought this laptop, I am seeing the wifi adaptor losing the connection within 5 mins of usage. Whats worse, it causing my wifi router to jam as well, and all of my other devices loses connection. I have few other devices, including a lenovo thinkpad, where i never faced any issues till date.  After some research I found out that the wifi adaptor in the lenovo yoga is Qualcomm Atheros QCA61x4a  and it has lots of issues on Windows 10 and people are complaining on multiple forums about it since couple of years. Suprising that Lenovo nor Microsoft nor Qualcomm has not fixed it yet or I couldnt find a proper solution till now.  It is such a bad customer experience, that such a basic thing like wifi connectivity is not working properly on such a high end laptop. I feel I just made a bad decision of buying this waste device instead of a Mac book Pro. Hope someone from Lenovo fixes this for me or else I shall return this device.

Hey guys,  I bought this Lenovo Thinkpad Yoga 14 about a month ago, and have had no problems with it until about 3 days ago when the wifi internet got really slow and would cut out with in a minute or two of working. During this time, any time I open the notebook and connect to wifi all other devices in the house won't get internet. Hi Guys,
This is Viral. I am using an Acer laptop model ASPIRE 4736 since the last five years. There haven't been much issues with it. except for the battery and thats it. But recently, since last two weeks I noticed that my Wifi would stop blinking after sometime after I start my laptop and then it wouldn't work even when I try to turn on and turn off the Wifi switch(it doesn't respond anything). I tried searching the net for this issue using my office laptop and found that a system restore would help to solve this issue. Since I remembered that I updated Java as well as there was this ad software which got installed and I had unistalled it. So I did a system restore and then when I opened the device manager, I am not able to see intel r wifi link 5100 driver on it. I tried restarting my laptop and did everything and couldn't find the driver(it was there before the system restore). But later on the same day, the driver got installed automatically and the WiFi started working but only for a couple of minutes after the restart and then it stopped. So  I did the system restore again to the date when everything was working perfectly and when i did that, again my intel r wifi link 5100 driver is not shown on the device manager(network adapters). I don't if it would automatically get installed or not but its sure that the WiFi issue still be there. So can you please help with this issue?

I'm having very inconsistent wifi performance on my Yoga 910. This has the Qualcomm Aetheros network adapter. I already installed the latest drivers from lenovo site. I also adjusted the power settings for maximum performance on both plugged in and battery. I have full signal... I'm maybe 15 feet away from my router. My phone is getting nearly 100Mb/s and my expensive new laptop is struggling to hit 2Mb/s right now. I've searched and tried any and all fixes. It seems that a restart will usually get the speed back up, but only temporarily. I check resources and don't see any process or service using the wifi, yet the speed tanks like crazy. As an example, I was barely able to hit 2Mb, restarted and now its hitting 150Mb every time. After about 5 minutes, speeds are back down to 2-5Mb tops. What's going on here? -- Ed

I'm experiencing WLAN performance issues as well. See the issues section in my review of the 910.
 
Are you also seeing WHEA-logger errors being reported in the Event Viewer? Does it help if you connect using the 2.4GHz band instead of the 5GHz band?
 
There's clearly something wrong, but whether it's really the hardware or the driver software is difficult to tell at this point. I've put a service call into Lenovo. I'll see what that brings.

On a brand new Yoga 3 PRO 1370 -  I am getting very low WIFI signal on all my routers. Compared side by side : Think pad yoga and yoga 3 pro - the first one have full bars on signal , the 3 pro have only 1-2 bars and disconnect all the time.  Only when the laptop is very close to the router -  getting full signal bars. Already removed and update the drivers twice . tried all configurations and power options - still very very low signal reception. Any ides ?

1. Windows Operating System 32bit or 64bit system
2. Router information : Brand and Model, does it support wireless B, G & N
3. Check if your bluetooth is turned on.

I have a:Yoga 2 Pro (i7)Intel Wireless-N 7260Linksys E4200 Dual-band router I have no problems connecting at home, however, I cannot connect (at all) at the car dealrship I have my vehicle serviced at (iPad and cellphone connect just fine).I can connect at my office , however, it constantly drops and reconnects. It would be completely unreliable to take on the road.

Ok, so I see that the earlier Yoga had problems with Wifi, and I'm wondering if this is the same problem I have with my Yoga 2 Pro. If the wifi signal is at all weak, it just seems to drop out. This is a huge headache and might be grounds for returning the machine, which I have already fallen deeply in love with. Is there a fix? Is this just me or is this an issue across the board?

Let me start by saying I've tried everything that everyone has recommended to fix this issue. I can hardly ever connect to my router, when it does it says no internet connection. It will only connect when I'm right next to the router, and even then the speeds are miniscule, 2-5 Mbps when I get over 200 Mbps with my Galaxy S7 in the same place. The issue occurs on 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands. It also occurs on other WiFi networks and while using my phone's mobile hotspot. Drivers are up to date.Wifi card is set to not turn off in Device Manager.Network card is set to max performance in Power settings.I have tried a factory reset of Windows 10.I have tried changing the channel on my router's 2.4 GHz band.I have checked the wifi card itself, as well as the antennas by a shop. They said the antennas look fine and are connected.I have uninstalled literally all bloatware that was on the device from factory.I have tried everything except replacing the WiFi card itself. The wifi card is Qualcomm Atheros QCNFA34AC. I'm not sure when it started but it has been happening for a while, I don't use my laptop that frequently. It could have happened after upgrading to Windows 10 from 8.1. In the mean time I have been using an ASUS Wifi USB adapter that works flawlessly, gets 100+ Mbps from the other side of my apartment from the router.

Longshot you may have already tried: set the wifi card's channel width to 20MHz, or if it's already set that way try "auto" or the other possibilities.
 
I've seen the "connected but no internet" problem and worked around it this way.  Unlikely if it was working previously but easy to try.

Hi,I bought a Yoga 500 approx 9 months ago. After two months the wifi suddenly ceased working completely - I received the error message "Not connected - no connections available". I tried basic troubleshooting, but in the end I was forced to leave it in for service.  I got it back after a few weeks, and it has subsequently worked fine - until 2 weeks ago, when I received the same error message. I am not able to connect to the internet through wifi at all, and  have tried basic troubleshooting. Anyone expereinced this problem? I am using a lenovo yoga 14. When I connect to my wifi network at home the internet often randomly turns off. It doesn't only disconnect my laptop, it kicks all of the other devices off the network as well. I have no viruses and the laptop seemed to be doing this from when I originally got it. I updated my drivers for the wifi and have tried various other fixes but nothing seems to work. Does anyone have issues with wifi speed on yoga 720?I have 100 mbps download, everyone laptop in the house gets 80 mbps plus over wifi while on yoga I get maximum 35-40mbps.I updated any available drivers, updated the bios, changed power plan adapter to be on maximum performance and nothing made a difference. any suggestions? thanks.

Hi I'm experiencing troubles with the WiFi on my new Yoga 500-15IBD laptop. I tried to find a solution throughout this forum (and the rest of the internet....), but so far I couldn't find anything that directly relates to my problem (or solves it). The problem is as follows:Basically the WiFi is quite unstable. Every once in a while it just looses the connection, despite being directly next to the router. It then says "limited connection" and the only way to make it work again is to either reboot, or click "troubleshooting" on the WiFi symbol, which then basically resets the adapter. I already tried to solve the issue by applying all Windows 10 updates, and by trying to install a new driver (this worked previously for my ThinkPad Yoga 2, which had similar problems at the beginning). So far, no success. The curious thing about the driver is, that when I go to the lenovo support page and let the website determine what kind of laptop I have, to automatically show me all available drivers, it shows me drivers for a WiFi adapter that I don't have... It successfully determines that my Yoga 500 is a 15IBD, but the drivers that it shows me for download are either for an Intel WLan adapter, or for a CyberTan/Liteon. But I have a Broadcom 802.11ac device installed. Why is that? Shouldn't lenovo know what they built in? I also tried to disallow Windows from shutting down the WiFi adapter to save power, but this didn't work either. In addition, I also tried ... Read more

Apparently, the LiteOn driver is intended for Broadcom WLAN hardware. It's now been renamed to Broadcom to make it clearer to everybody. Try installing that driver and let us know how you get on.

I have a Yoga 2 Pro Ultrabook.  The computer was on but the Wifi was not on.  I was shutting down when the message came up that "Updates are Loading - don't turn off your computer" and supposedly loaded 1 of the updates.  Then after a while when the computer realized it wasn't connected to Wifi and couldn't load the balance of updates, I received this message on the screen "We couldn't complete the updates Undoing changes Don't turn off your computer".  I waited hours and nothing - the screen is frozen with this message and I can't do anything with the computer now?   What should I do?

Hi,Just picked up a yoga 720 the other day and am finding the wifi drops out on all mobile devices when using the laptop. I have to reboot the modem (TP LINK Archer D7) which usually lasts another 2-15mins before drops out again. I've tried updating laptop drivers and modem firmware but no luck. Hi. I'm trying to replace my Broadcom wifi card with a better one. I'm not an expert in this kind of things, but I have read that I could have a better internet with another wifi card instaled...I searched few days on amazon (uk) and ebay, to find a suitable one, but...it seems to be more complicated than I though...Could anyone, please, provide a link from where I can buy one (as I have read, must be IBM/Lenovo compatible) I would much apreciate! I just bought a new Lenovo YOGA 500 Intel® HD Core? i5 Processor, 8Gb RAM, 1Tb Storage, 15.6 inch Full HD Touchscreen 2-in-1 Laptop. I'm yet to take it out of the packaging (thank heavens) before I noticed on the website I bought it from under Features of the Laptop it states:  Wifi Enabled: NDoes this mean there's no WiFi capabilities on the laptop? Secondly, after perusing this forum, I've discovered the laptop seems to have a WiFi issue, the question thus is would any of you with the same laptop advise I keep it? Thanks

Hello,My wifi has been slow and sporadic.  I have updated the wifi drivers on the Intel and Lenovo side, I have disabled the Intel Smart Connect Technology, I have restarted my computer several times, performed an anti-viral scan, and unchecked the "allow my computer to shut off wifi to save power" thing all to no avail.  My signal looks choppy.  My router is 12Mbps and I, at best, can get spikes up to 1Mbps, but usually my laptop hovers around 100kbps (see picture).  For some background, it came with Windows 8.1 and the wifi worked lovely and then for some stupid reason I downgraded to Windows 10. Does anyone know of a fix to this?

Hi   My Wifi conneciton keeps dropping, it's not related to the router, as I have other computers and devices connect, also it happend with diferent wifi conections and routers. The connection just drops and then they cannot detect the any network for a very long time. I've restarted my computer to try and solve this but this doesn't always solve the immediate problem, it happends randomly, sometimes 3 to 4 time in a hour, then ok for a couple of hours.  I've realized also that sometimes when I'm working, even that on the task bar it doest show, when I press the notification setting on the taskbar I get that the flight mode is on, with bluetooht and wifi even though it's not?? I have lenovo solution center and lenovo companion intallled and apparentely all the lastest drivers. So is there a solution for this, or is my computer just fautly and needs to be returned?? Thank you for your help

Hi I am writing of about a problem that i have for 4 months now!!, which is regarding the wifi dropping connection every so often. I have gone through the process of sending the laptop for repair multiple times where they have --Failed to repair or do anything on the laptop- replaced the motherboard (downgraded one!!) and wireless card- fitting the correct motherboard After the second repair, where they replaced the wifi and motherboard, the problem still persisted which led me to factory resetting the laptop.Once doing so, and after installing the updates, the wifi was stable for two days, with it only dropping once.However i come to realise that the motherboard replaced was a downgraded one, which led me to sending it back.Since getting it back, the wifi drops several times every minute. How do i please resolve this problem. The reason for people like me (I know the nitty gritty details) stay silent on topics like this is that you don't provide the facts. When it comes to wireless, a PC is normally fixed by removing third party bloatware and installing the latest wireless drivers. The wireless infrastructure you connect to on the other hand, includes countless variables that can clutter you experience. So if you expect to get a good diagnose we need info like:OS versionWireless radio/router/controller model, choice of band 2.4g/5gWireless extenders (I hate those)building typedistance to radioand more..... A rule of thumb is "keep it simple" unless you know your trade.

Hello folks, I am having a super **bleep**ty problem with my notebook, I hope someone can help...I am a happy owner of a 1.5 years old Thinkpad Yoga. I updated to Windows 10 last year but no major issues so far. Around one month ago though, I started getting some problems with my wifi connections. Sometimes, after disconnecting (voluntarily), the wifi wouldn't reconnect at all and disabling the WiFi would make it even worse, because I wouldn't be able to enable it again and had to reboot. The wifi simply shows no networks and presents that little red "x" on its icon.Well, last week the problem got worse. The WiFi stopped working and wouldn't get back even while rebooting.Sometimes it will get back after a reboot, in those cases it stays good and alive as far as I don't reboot and keep the device enabled.I ultimately resetted my Windows yesterday to see if it problem would be fixed. The windows started up good, but when I started again today, the problem was there again. Some facts:1. I saw no particular pattern on which circumstances the problem is shown more often.2. The device manager will show the wireless adapter sometimes, but most times won't.3. The Bluetooth radio doesn't seem to be affected at all by this issue.4. Updating or reinstalling the driver doesn't seem to help, although it can bring the wifi adapter back to work (until I reboot the system).5. I have a K450 desktop and had upgraded to windows 10 a while back.  Yesterday I have no wifi abilities.  Checked device manager and no network adaptor for wifi.  Attempted to download and install and still doesn't show.  Connecting with line currently but can't figure it out.  Wifi not even an option under 'connect to internet"

Hey guys, was wondering if anyone had any experience with replacing the WiFi card in the yoga 700 or just replacing WiFi cards in general. I am thinking about upgrading the intel Wi Fi card on my 700 model (Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 3165, 802.11ac, 1x1 Wi-Fi + Bluetooth 4.0) .. :Looking for faster streaming speeds as well as signal strength  The question is I was looking at the Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 8260 card (it's the same card in the yoga 900 model) is it that much better and is it worth upgrading?  thank you

I know that the Yoga 2 Pro comes with the Intel 7260 n card, but was wondering if it's possible to replace with the Intel 7260 ac card. It seems like an easy swap, but don't know if the exisiting antenna will work with 5 GHz. Thanks! -Pete

Antennas don't care if it's receiving or trasmitting 5 GHz band. You can upgrade with the 7260 AC without functionality loss at all.

I recently purchased a P40 Yoga and am happy with it, however I have problem with my Wifi + Bluetooth which I have not had before. I have always used Bluetooth and Wifi together with no problems. THE PROBLEM:When I turn on my Bluetooth, Wifi disconnects immediately. No networks are found anymore.  I have been using the same Wifi connection, so no changes there. I assume this is not an interference problem, because it has always worked great, so it must be a software problem. I also noticed that I have quite a weak connection although I'm close by the router What I have done:- Uninstalled Bluetooth and let windows reinstall- Reinstalled driver for Wifi- Install lastest driver for Wifi from Intel (19.20)- Checked router (channels [due to interference], proximity, etc.) What else could I do?

I got a new Yoga 910 from Best Buy. Out of the box it is unable to connec to my WIFI. My WIFI is a Verizon Fios, and WEP encrypted. All my othe devices connect fine, including this Flex 2-14 laptop, my iPad, My Phone ... all of them connect. Except the brand new one. I uninstalled the drivers, and installed again, disabled and enabled, tried all. But it still does not connect to my WIFI. But it does connect to other Open WIFI connections, I am able to connect in McDonalds, Starbucks and Office as well. Only the one at home does not connect. Any ideas?

Hi, I think I have a hardware problem with my wifi adaptor and can I have a way to fix it? my warranty has expired. ========I have a yoga pro 2 for less than 2 years I think. (SN:YB05217756) Yesterday, the wifi adaptor suddenly disapper, i cannot connect to internet and the wifi device is not available in the device manager any more. I try to reset the PC and also update to the latest interl wireless wlan software from lenovo website.  It doesn't help at all. The win10 also report ethernet 2 not connected.

Hi,Is anyone facing issue with the wifi connection? The wifi on yoga 700 keeps disconnecting and reconnecting. When the wifi tries to reconnect, it's showing no internet access. I have other laptops connected to the same router and there are no connection issues with my other laptops, tablets, or phones. I've even tried to a different router (at a different location) and I still have the same issue. I contacted Lenovo customer service and they sent me link to download the wifi driver which I have done (uninstall existing driver and reinstall the drive that was provided by Lenovo CS) however, it would connect to the wifi and work fine for a while then the wifi disconncets and tries to reconnect over and over again (same issue). Any help or suggestion would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I am the owner of a brand new Lenovo Yoga 720, 13" screen, and the internet is pretty slow over wifi. I am getting download speeds 2x or 3x higher on my iPhone and on my wife's Macbook Air, and not sure why that would be the case as all devices are connected to the same wifi network. Anyway, any help would be much appreciated from the community. Hello, Sorry for my "English"..I'm French :-)I bought recently an Lenovo Yoga 2 13 inch.Since few days, Windows doesn't let me activate my Wifi card.It is well configured...it's a REALTEK card inside.I use now an USB ethernet adapter to have access to Internet (and to have the capacity to create a post on this forum ).I don't remember exactly when this occured.I think it was after the "tablet mode" but I'm not sure of that because I tried that before and that worked. I tried a lot of solutions :- Windows 8.1 option to enable the Wifi => can't be done, it writes that in "grey" color- disable/enable the wifi card- connect/disconnect the wifi card- configurate an static ip address => cmd / ipconfig doesn't show the ip address, so that really means that the Wifi card is not activated- auto-diagnostic Windows- Windows device manager=> the card is well configured- Windows system restore to a previous point where the wifi card worked => it is still disabled- Lenovo system restore factory settings => it is still disabledWith this last point, I think the problem is at the hard level.I read other solution using an Live Linux and using the "rfkill" command.Result :[email protected]:~# rfkill list0: ideapad_wlan: Wireless LAN    Soft blocked: no    Hard blocked: yes1: ideapad_bluetooth: Bluetooth    Soft blocked: no    Hard blocked: yes2: hci0: Bluetooth    Soft blocked: no    Har... Sometime I need to reboot the computer for wifi to connect to internet properly. It always indicate connected to router but no internet connection. What might be the problem? The router is OK with othe machines.
