I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi guys, I'm trying to add an additional Hard Drive to my new computer. I can see that the only way to power the drive is to connect directly to the motherboard where there are 2 very small 4-pin SATA power ports. For the life in me I can't find the Lenovo Part Number for the cable here in the UK but I've found the following cable at ModDIY - There's no part number but it could be what I'm looking for: Lenovo Mini 4-Pin to SATA Power  Can anybody confirm that this is what I'm looking for and is it available anywhere in the UK? Cheers :-)

I just received my new machine, and I also purchased the Next Business Day 2 year warranty.  Talk about USELESS! For starters the machine wouldn't recognize any of my Monitors.  It's just a BLACK screen.  After many troubleshooting attempts, I finally called Tech Support.  Apparently this is a HUGE PROBLEM.  A service ticket was submitted and the "REPLACEMENT PART" ordered. Long story short, I'm returning the machine.  The inability of the repair service personnel to provide answers to my questions is TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE.  I expected ?top notch service? and got nothing but excuses. I?m EXTREMELY disappointed by the ?LACK OF CUSTOMER CARE?.  NBD warranty should be Next Business Day, not ?uncertain? because the company can?t get the part.  As I explained to 7 different representatives this morning? The fact that there is a ?BACK ORDER? for this particular part with no ETA tells me that this part has ALWAYS been a problem for Lenovo.Lenovo needs to find another supplier for this hardwareLearning that the actual machine is manufactured in Mexico, and has to ?clear CUSTOMS? is another REAL problem?at least for this AMERICAN.More often than not, ?Cheap Labor? usually produces a ?SUBSTANDARD product?.Please forward this feedback to the CEO and other management personnel as deemed appropriate.

I have connected adapter to pci-e slot on motherboard, opend BIOS/Video Settings and i set IGD as primary and enable surround view...no luck. tried setting every device as primary but nothing. Device Manager also show nothing not even Uknown Device. Where to get drivers for this adapter (pictures below) or is it unsupported and what I'm doing for last two days is just waste of time. The Lenovo ThinkCentre Tiny 500GB Hard Drive Adapter Kit  (about 100  bucks) can only be used in the the ThinkCentre Tiny Storage Unit Kit which is an external drive enclosure that must be purchased separately (about 40 bucks) that will accept a CD/DVD drive, or a hard drive caddy ( the Lenovo ThinkCentre Tiny 500GB Hard Drive Adapter Kit).    I would imagine you could replace the 500G  2.5 inch SATA drive that comes with the Adapter kit/caddy for a larger drive, but if you goal is to just add an external HD, It would probably be easier (and cheaper) to just buy an external USB hard drive like this one. WD - My Passport 2TB External USB 3.0 Portable Hard Drive  ($79.99 for 2TB up to 119.99 for 4TB)http://www.bestbuy.com/site/wd-my-passport-2tb-external-usb-3-0-portable-hard-drive-black/5605528.p?... Cheers,

Hello, as the title says.. Can I expect this CPU to work? Do I need something else than BIOS update -I have the latest 2EKT46A, dated 6/2/2009  (http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/downloads/ds000714) If not what are my other CPU options? Any help is appreciated. Thanks

A:ThinkCentre M52 (8215 D1G) CPU Upgrade - will a Pentium D 830 SL8CN (3 GHz) work?

Well, it didn't worked The machine is M52 8215 D1G, original CPU is Pentium-4 640 3.00 GHz Prescott, stepping N0, SL7Z9The new CPU that didn't worked is Pentium D 830 3.00 GHz Smithfield, stepping B0, SL8CN In the specs here: http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/documents/pd006096Pentium D 830 is listed as a supported CPU I am using the latest BIOS from here: http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/documents/pd006096The changelog  mentions added support to stepping D0 CPUs - does that means that all up to D0 aresupported, or only D0? Also here: http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/documents/pd000810 both Smithfield and Presler Pentium D arelisted as supported.. Somewhere I've found that only 8215 CTO types are with Pentium D. Mine is 8215 D1G..Is that a hardware difference or just different peripheral equipment? And last - in the BIOS update I noticed an option to change the machine type and serial number - will thatenables the Pentium D to work if I change the machine type from D1G to CTO or I will brick it? Many questions, some answered myself.. but If anyone have experience and knowledge - please share.. Thanks

When I bought my wife a new Lenovo ThinkCentre M700 (Windows 7 Pro downlevel)  a year ago, I also ordered a Unicomp USB keyboard to replace her IBM Model M PS/2 keyboard, and a Planar monitor to replace her IBM T56A pivoting monitor. Everything arrived and worked great. A couple of weeks ago she decided she wanted to use her old Model M PS/2 keyboard, as it fitted her small hands better. Since the M700 has PS/2 ports for both a keyboard and mouse, I plugged in the PS/2 keyboard, but it wouldn't type. I searched the web and one suggestion was to unplug the keyboard and shutdown the PC, plug in the PS2 keyboard and boot. I tried that and still didn't work. I was at my wits end. I search Lenovo for possible PS/2 updates, but found nothing. I was ready to tell her it wouldn't work, when I decided when all else fails, restart the PC. After the restart, the PS/2 keyboard worked. The problem is if she powers off her M700, and reboots later, she has to then restart the M700 to get the keyboard to work. I tried buying a PS/2 to USB conntector, but when I plug it in, I eitgher get eror messages about a bad USB port, or it may say devive driver not found, device ready to use. But the keyboard never works in USB mode. Has anyone else seen a problem like this? You would think a PC with a PS/2 port for a PS/2 keyboard would support a PS/2 keyboard. I am open to all suggestions, except for using the new USB keyboard. She would rather live with the occasion... Read more

It is only Display port - HDMI that works. I had a picture with DP-DP at first after changing setting to other DP version on the monitor. I then plugged in a logitech conference cam. Then DP-DP didnt work anymore and i had to go back to DP-HDMI to get a picture.

Just received the new M910s SFF machine I purchased a few weeks back from Allstarshop.com (because Lenovo was "sold out" and not even accepting orders for them at that time). I had also bought some extra "add-on" hardware parts from online retailers, expecting no problem at all installing them.  Note that I checked again today, and Lenovo is once again accepting orders for the M910s SFF machines.  So that problem is behind us.

Well... surprise. I had unexpected problems and trouble with 2 out of the 3 add-on hardware items I bought for the M910s, so I wanted to share my experience to give others who might have a similar project in the works a heads-up.

(1) The 10MK000QUS Kaby Lake i5-7500 machine was factory configured with 1x8GB of DDR4-2400 memory, Win10 x64 Pro, 1TB 7200rpm 2.5" SATA3 HDD, and optical CD/DVD drive.

(2) I added an additional 1x8GB of matching DDR4-2400 memory purchased from Crucial.  No problem.  Works perfectly, and the machine is now 2x8GB=16GB operating in dual-channel mode as expected.

(3) I had purchased a Gigabyte low-profile GTX-1050ti graphics card for use in the new machine, not expecting any problems. Well, it turns out there IS a problem, because this card at a length of 6.57" (167mm) is just bit too long.  The swing-up drive bay assembly inside the SFF case doesn't quite have the needed <167mm clearance in order to close properly with the graphics card installed.  It needs maybe just a... This is the only card currently on the market the supports the latest HTPC 4K/8K specification (H feature set: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nvidia_PureVideo) and its size is small and short enough to be installed inside M910 SFF.
It is also only 30W TDP, which is just a bit more than the original Nvidia 730 that was pre-installed.

I would recommend that you'd best prepare yourself to be disappointed with your "coming soon" M910s SFF machine, in that I am at least reasonably skeptical that there is sufficient "clearance" for almost any "modern" decent add-on graphics card which can fit inside the newly narrowed (i.e. the SFF case is now shortened front-to-rear by almost 4" from all previous SFF cases) SFF case.  The 4" reduction essentially reduces the interior expansion card clearance by 4", i.e. similarly reducing the new maximum size card length that can be used in the M910s.

You should read this thread of mine which I posted a few months back regarding these very issues with an M910s SFF I'd ordered and three different graphics cards I tried to install, but all of which would not fit.  I believe the new maximum size expansion card is only around 5.75", whereas with all previous SFF cases you could install a card that was probably up to 6.8" without an issue.  Most graphics cards are 6.25" - 6.75" and as long as they are low-profile they can all be used.

No longer.  I think the maximum length card is now about 5.75".  And your GT1030 is 5.9" long and 2.7" tall.  Doesn't sound like much of a difference, but it just might be the straw that broke the camel's back.

The problem is the swing-up/down drive bay assembly inside the SFF case, which in its full "snapped down/closed/locked" position has to clear the end of the expansion graphics card.  With... Read more

Hello, I recently swapped out parts from a dv2715nr to a dv2815nr, which have similar parts so I did not pay it any mind when the battery was not being detected until recently when in the middle of usage my computer just up and shut down. It was not plugged directly into the wall and was using a swapped out dv2715 adapter for power. When it shut down I got a moderate continuously blinking power led, which in my case points to insufficient power. Although the computer still detects the adapter (when I plug it up the battery light now shows as I have also reverted to it's original battery) the screen remains blank, which brings me to my question, has the adapter malfunctioned in some way? Will a new adapter work? Because as long as the screen is blank it is hard to not rule out gpu damage, which is what happened with the dv2715. Mind you a hard reset is not working in this case.

A:Will a new adapter work?

AMD + nVidia in the specs and I would suspect a bad GPU. If the adapter is detected i.e causes the light to come on then odds are it is putting out the right power and the problem is inside the laptop.

I have an HPG62-220 and just got a 5G router through my ISP. Purchased a 5G USB wireless adapter. I have spent many hours on the phone with the mfr of the adapter and my ISP to get this to work and I am unsuccessful. My laptop will not update the network adapter/download the software. I got the adapter software to show up in a zip file and followed directions carefully, many times to open and it shows that it is "unsuccessful" in dowloading the adapter software.  The mfr suggests doing this in "safe mode" and cancelling all antivirus programs and firewalls. I tried many times. In addition, I had the USB adapter replaced as they thought it might be a defect. All USB ports (6) work with other devices. Help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

A:Cannot get 5G USB Adapter to Work

Hi, Do all your USB ports work ? If yes that mean nothing wrong with your computer. Now, my question: does the maufacturer supply driver for its product ? What is it ?  You may have to download driver using a different machine, extract and copy to your machine to install. Regards.

Until recently, my desktop computer was directly connected to my Belkin router that I use to set up a wireless network for the house. So far there's been no problems. Last week I had to move the desktop to another room that has no phone or internet outlets, so I bought a Medialink Wireless N USB 2.0 adapter to join the wireless network. It installed just fine and says that it's connected to the network, but I can't open any web pages at all. I also have a laptop that has no problem connecting to the network, so I know that it's not an issue with the network itself, just something with either the adapter or how the desktop is set up.

I'm very much a beginner when it comes to networking, so I did some online research to try and fix it. One issue I found is that when I tried to ping the default gateway, it says "Request timed out". Not sure what that means exactly.

Let me know what information you need to help me solve this problem. Thanks!

I have a compaq presario desktop that I am trying to connect to a dlink wireless system. I have tried trendnet, linksys, and now Dlink usb wireless adapters but none will connect. They show up in the device manager as fine and dandy but will not enable. I am now trying the dlink WUA 1340 and downloaded the drivers from the dlink website.
I have also did a netsh wlan show settings and it says the autoconfig is disabled. Not sure if it should be enabled and have yet to find out how to enable it on this desktop. I have already tried the to do set autoconfig enabled=yes interface="?" as per technet instructions but just says wlansvc is not running. I am very frustrated and have had to drag the dlink router and dsl to telus to my computer so I can hook up by ethernet.
I have ran the gammut on this as I have even went through all the usb plugs and all are working and detect the wireless device. I have removed everything a few times and reinstalled without the dlink software etc. etc. etc.
I am not sure but I think the wlansvc not running may be an issue????
Thanks for any suggestions.

I have a Lenovo Ideapad Y500 laptop running Windows 8.1. i7, 8BG ram, 2GB Nvidia card--all that stuff. It ran perfectly for nearly a year. But now, the local area network is broken. I haven't done anything different or changed anything that would affect it, as far as I know. But now that it's summer, I have lots of free time but I can not lan any games with people, which sucks. So I googled and googled, tried the netsh int ip reset resetlog.txt (or whatever it is), tried ipconfig resets and stuff, and none of that works. The wireless lan adapter Media State is still "Media disconnected."

I took this screenshot AFTER I did OneKey Recovery (which is a factory reset). It set my computer back to the original settings: Windows 8, full of bloatware, etc. I did this reset last night, updated it, updated it to Windows 8.1, updated Windows 8.1, and finally, before I went to bed, tested the LAN. It worked, I was able to connect to my Dad's Minecraft world. So I set my laptop to start re-downloading my games (reset deleted all my data), and when I opened it up this morning to play Minecraft with my family, the LAN was not working again. I couldn't connect (or even find) the lan games. I didn't take a screenshot of the ipconfig for the brief moment that the lan worked last night, but I don't think it would have been too helpful anyway.

Does anyone have any ideas why this is happening?

A:Can't get Wireless LAN adapter to work.

Do not need the IPConfig. Need the following: netsh wlan show all . It also appears that your Bluetooth adapter is your Ethernet connection, not a physical Ethernet adapter. Also post the results from Speccy. You can download it from majorgeeks.com. After you run it. You will get an URL. Post that URL after it inspects your system.

Ran into this problem after installing an ATI HD5550 graphics card into a Dell 4700C.

However, I've uninstalled the new graphics card and reinstalled the old card, so I doubt that is the problem.

I've tried both Linksys and Netgear USB wireless adapters as well as the original Dell network adapter using a wired connection to the router.

I've also made sure every adapter tried had the most current drivers installed.

In all instances the system says the adapter is properly installed, but I cannot get it to connect to my network.

I'll try repairing Win 7 tonight, but I thought I'ld check to see if anyone else has encountered this and had a fix.

It has all the earmarks of some incredibly easy to overlook fix.

Thanks in advance, Bobw

Hi -

What does the Device Manager show under Networking - any red/ yellow flags -?
START | type devmgmt.msc | "View" tab - enable hidden devices

Boot into Safemode w/ Networking and try Internet connection there - tap F8 key repeatedly during boot-up.

Are you connecting to network at all - even "Local only"?

Another item to try - since Internet OK prior to video install -- run Windows System Restore - choose a restore point prior to the video installation -
START | type rstrui

The laptop has no ethernet port, so I installed a usb-ethernet adapter that I plugged into a working usb hub. I could not conncect to the router configuration page. If I put the adapter directly into the laptops usb port (not the hub), everything works great. If I put it back into the hub, it works for about 3 minutes, then I cannot connect to the router configuration page again.

Just off a newish A380, and first time traveling with the new P50.  The old Sony laptop w/90w ac adapter worked with the in-seat electric socket ... but the P50 ac adapter at/170w did not. A quick google and max wattage from airline seat plugs is commonly stated as 75w or 100w. Also tried the "Airplane Power Mode" function in the Lenovo Settings app ... no change. Q: Is there scope to use a less watt ac adapter for simple travel purposes; i.e. no external USB connected hardware to drive?   Q: And that's if Lenovo would provide the same as a separate part(?)Q: Or how anyone found a work-around custom power plan config, for example using the 'Airplane ' plan in power settings.Need a fix for this ....

Hey Guys, here's my situation:

Just installed windows 7 64 bit.

I'm using a pci wireless adapter chip, Netgear wg311v3 I installed the netgear driver automatically, and then installed the netger smart wizard. However, the smart wizard will not start up. I've done some research, and apparently netgear doesn't make 64bit drivers. I've also tried using the chipset driver which is a Marvell 88w8335. But I may not have used the right driver.

To sum it up:
I have a netgear wg311v3 adapter. Running W7 64bit. It won't run the wizard.

What should I do? Do I need to go back to 32 bit?

Thanks.

Dean

A:Netgear Adapter Won't Work

Hello JokerSmoker Welcome to the Se7enforums!

You may not find any past XP/Windows Server 2003 unfortunately since this seems to be a common problem for many. Unfortunately there is 64bit Vista support with the latest actually last going back to February 2008. Answer

In order to run the adapter on 7 you will need the 32bit 7 that will work with the 32bit XP/Vista update seen there.

Hi. I am having trouble getting my Bluetooth adapter to work.

Notes:

The drivers install fine on both Windows 7 Pro and Windows 8 Pro
The Bluetooth adapter is correctly installed on the motherboard (and should be working because it shares with the wifi card and I have wifi).
Windows update fails to find the drivers for the device
Windows acknowledges the presence of a SM Bus Controller but says the drivers are not installed correctly
Drivers were installed from the motherboard manufacturers website (http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=4166#ov)

EDIT: The drivers on Windows 8 Pro don't actually install. Upon completion of the installation the installer then prompts me to reboot, I do, and when Windows starts up again I can install the drivers again as if they were never installed.
Also, at the beginning of the installation Windows makes the device connected/disconnected sound, as if I it disconnects the Bluetooth and then reconnects it.

This is really annoying me, I would like to connect my phone and tablet but alas cannot.

I just finished building a new PC and installed Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit today. I have an ASUS Wireless PCI Express Adapter (PCE-N13 802.11 b/g/n). DSL, with a Linksys rounter. Theres just a red X mark on the taskbar and it won't show any open connections =/. I have several wireless devices that work even outside the range which is about maybe 5 meters away from the router. Its pretty much impossible for me to run a wired connection to my PC and need to have a wireless one since theres many tables/couches/chairs inbetween the router and my new PC.

Did your install the drivers for the mobo? It sounds like there is no LAN driver loaded. What does it look like in the device manager?

can we see an xirrus screen shot - see below
What windows version are you running

Did the CD have any wireless management program and did that install? it may be a conflict with the windows wireless manager
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Run Xirrus Wi-Fi Inspector
Download and install
If you cannot access the internet with this PC, then you will need to copy the program across to the faulty PC
Save the file to a USB flash drive or other removable media. Plug it into the working computer with internet access and copy the file and install the program.
You will now need to take a screen shot and copy that back to the working PC and attach the screen shot in a reply on the forum here.

If you do not have another PC - do you have a phone connected to the internet - can you photograph the result and post the image in a reply

http://www.xirrus.com/Products/Wi-Fi-Inspector.aspx ( the site now appears to require a business email, so try the direct link below)
Direct link to the program is here http://info.xirrus.com/Wi-FiInspectorConfirmation.html

I had a computer with Windows XP and used a hp4070 scanner with it, used the slide adapter 80 % of the time. Bought a new computer with Windows Vista installed , the hp4070 scans documents etc but I cannot make the slide adapter activate. I contacted HP and they told me that I need a driver to make it work and they are working on it. but a 3rd party might have what I need. I have check through the net and have not found anyone that has this driver for Windows Vista to activate my Hp4070 scanner slide adapter. Hoping that someone in Tech Support Guy has a fix. The slides that I have are old and starting to go bad & I was in the process of putting them on disk. I have over 300 slides to convert to disk so you can see why I need the slide adapter to work--Any help PLEASE

A:Slides Adapter for HP4070 will not work

It is *highly unlikely* that any third party would write a driver for the transparency adapter.

Vista standard drivers give basic functionality for most devices but for such things as the transparency scanning, only the HP software is likely to provide the solution.

The inbuilt scanner firmware source code would not be in the public domain, so I simply do not see how anyone other than HP could write a driver, nor could I imagine anyone committing the huge resources to do so for little or no reward.

hi, first poster here,
im using a laptop with built in wireless adapter and it connects to my router but the connection appears to be very weak because i often get disconnects and the taskbar shows me having only one or two bars(im using windows 7). My roommate's laptop connects to it with max bars. So, i got my old usb adapter, which works fine on my desktop(i tested it), and it cant make the laptop use the adapter instead of the built in wireless adapter. I have tried disabling the built in adapter and it just tells me that i cannot connect to the internet. The usb adapter is enabled but it has a red X on the side of the picture. Im pretty lost as what to do in this situation.

Hi everyone

I have HP dv7 2015tx running windows 7 (64bit) and I have serious problem with wifi connectivity. in last few months the wifi connection started to malfunction and randomly detect and connect to hotspots. and then it stopped working completely after a while. I tried:

-reinstalling, upgrading .... the wireless driver
-using wifi dongle
-replacing the wifi card with a new one
-.....
and I found these can not help me in this issue. the same thing happened to my blutooth connectivity last year and after I reinstalled the windows it was all fixed. but this time im not planning to reinstall the windows again.
So in my point of view this problem might be fixed if I fix the way windows is detecting any wifi access !! is there any file missing in windows related to this ?!!

Please help me in this matter

Any ideas to fix this?

I have a weird computer setup, and basically I have two drives with a Windows 10 install, a HDD and a SSD. I'm trying to use the SSD, but problems keep popping up with it. In the most recent example, the wireless adapter I'm using, a Netgear A6210, is not picking up any of the access points near my computer, but only when I'm using the SSD. It's constantly searching, never explicitly saying it won't work, however it never finds an access point and often freezes the wireless tab thing. The adapter was working just fine on the SSD until I used a direct Ethernet connection, and it is still working the same as always on the HDD. I even moved the drives to a different computer to see if it was some other sort of hardware problem, but it didn't help. What could possibly be causing this problem?

I installed an Alfa AWUS036H wireless adapter on my Asus u50f laptop. It didn't work, customer support said it must be a defective unit and return.

One of the troubleshooting steps I tried was disabling the regular wireless adapter. I tried that and also uninstalling it.

Now, I have uninstalled the Alfa driver/utility, and simply want my regular wireless to work again. I tried reinstalling the driver automatically, and also others i found on the net, and none work. They all say device is working properly, but there is a red x on the tray icon and it says no connections and there is no list of networks in range like usual.

When I run the Windows (7) troubleshooter, it says there is a problem with the driver but offers no solution.

I tried system restore from multiple points, but all say it can't restore (possibly due to AV program). So I uninstalled avast, tried again, and still can't get a restore.

I've been playing with this for a couple hours and can't think of anything else to try. For the record, the ethernet connection works fine.

I hope I'm not screwed, really don't want to have to do a fresh install....

Hi everyone. This is my first post at the SevenForums.

I have had a windows 7 machine for about a year and I recently wanted to get a wireless adapter working on the machine. My machine is a Dell Studio XPS 8000 running Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit.

The adapter I am using is a SMCWUSB-G Wireless USB 2.0 adapter.
I don't have any problems seeing the adapter in Device Manager and I have made sure the WLAN Autoconfig is started (see pics).

But when I go to the Network and Sharing center and click on "Manage wireless networks" it is not finding any networks to connect to. (see pic) It should be seeing about 10 (I checked on my netbook that has a working wifi connection.)

If I click on the wireless adapter in Network Connections and then click on "Diagnose this connection" it ends up telling me that "There might be a problem with the driver for the Wireless Network Connection adapter". But I have downloaded and installed the latest drivers from the manufacturers website and I get the same results.

I have read the forums here and tried a few things. I had AVG antivirus installed and I removed it. That didn't help. I have the ZoneAlarm firewall installed and disabled it. That also didn't help. I have not yet tried uninstalling ZoneAlarm to see if that helps. I booted the machine with a live linux usb OS and using that the adapter worked fine. Since my motherboard is crossfire compatible but only has 1 PCI-E x16 slot I was wondering if I could use a PCI-E x1 to x16 adapter card on my x1 slot or do the adapters not support crossfire?

I've heard there are also sometimes compatibility issues when using an x16 video card on an x1 slot. I have a Sapphire Radeon HD4670 1GB video card, is that compatible with an adapter?

Also, I know running an adapter will still only use the x1 bus speed, will that be very noticeable?

A:Solved: Does Crossfire Work With An x16 Adapter?

You have misread the Crossfire bit I think. Your mobo is listed as being a hybrid crossfire, not a true crossfire.
you only have one PCI-e x16 slot. There is no second slot for card(it has to be a x8/x16, a x1 or x4 is a different beast.
The crossfire section means that you have onboard video, and that it is possible to use a separate GPU to run in crossfire WITH THE ONBOARD, not as 2 cards.

So, summary, no, you cant put a second card in. Sorry

If you cannot access the internet with this PC, then you will need to paste the results into something like notepad and then copy onto a machine that can access the internet and post the results in a reply here.

This is not supported. Any damage done to the Inspiron 17-5000 by using non-validated power adapters will not be covered. You should only be using the validated power adapter that are for this specific model. Check the part number on the Dell supplied power adapter and buy another one.

Hello there!
I wrote alot of info about this but unfortunately it took so long that I lost it because
it would tell me to log in again so I will summarize it for you now:

I have this USB Wifi adapter: NETGEAR WNA3100 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833122420
I just bought it and thought it would work, but apparently it is def a Windows 7 problem because I have tried it with
these others USB adapters only. My main objective is to create a hotspot for the house wirefree and no triping etc etc

Airlink+ 802.11g 2.0 (old) Works with XP but not on W7 (blinks)
WifiMAX Dongle 802.11g 2.0 (also old) (Sometimes blinks at intervals)
TrendNET TEW-644UB (bought last year) (Light stays on/no longer blinks)
Netgear WNA3100 (arrived just a few hours ago) (I made it blink now with its software)
I have tried(netgear):
-rebooting
-installing/uninstalling drivers
-uninstalling itunes
-Using a W8 procedure for it
-tried using different software
-Some other stuff

I have not tried a HKEY codes for it

My biggest problem is that the "Disabled" status is stuck and I cannot re-enable it.
If there is a way to override this I would be happy to hear it.

Using: Windows7 Ultimate Gigabyte Motherboard/AMD chipset

For the only one that is enabled(Airlink) it has some funny stuff on the status like 412 Gbps
and doesn't have ipv4/6 connectivity http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v313/WhiteWolfos/11112222.png Help much appreciated like always.
