Script to set size of font, DPI, and change only text size

Q: Script to set size of font, DPI, and change only text size

Windows 10.

I am having much fun grappling with my displays. I say grapple because I CANNOT see the text!

I have a laptop, with a display that has up to 2048x resolution and an external monitor that does 1920x. I have tried to keep both set the same resolution so the mouse will easily go back and fort.

If I bump one setting, others seem to change. Like after an update too!

I need a script, to set, then set again, and again, the
display settings,
the custom scaling level, and
the "change only text size".

Keeping the monitor placement geometry the same would be great for me too.

Oh for a cross reference on Outlook 2013 to the system setting. I keep manipulating the view settings there too.

Probably to get started I could use a "settings display" script.

Help, please

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I would like to know how I can change the desktop text size, and font type from a fresh reload of XP Pro?

I assume that any text size change would also go to IE, as the text size is the same on my desktop as it is while using IE.

Does anyone know what the default settings are for text size, and name of font type for XP Pro?

You could try sfc & dism & sfc again.

You could right click this .bat file after downloading it & run as administrator---

It will run them for you.
You can leave it run in the background.
It might take 2 or 3 hours to finish.

On two laptops, one has horizontal width of 12.25" screen with resolution 1366x768; the other has horizontal width of 15.125" screen with resolution 1900x1080.

So 12.25" screen pixel width is 12.25/1366; 15.125" screen pixel width is 15.125/1900. Pixel width difference is about 12.7%.

On IE 8/9, majority of texts on 12.25" screen have font size 11 while same texts on 15.125" screen have font size 8 or smaller (font style appears to be Arial). The font size difference now is about 37.5%. Why is that?

The Page Zoom setting is 100% and Page Text Size is Medium on both systems.

I let my dad use my laptop for the week as I was away at a Christian singing camp, and when I came back, he told me he accidentally pressed some button that caused the text on google searches to be abnormally large and the text on other websites i.e. ancestry.com to be too small, and well I notice this as well, but it's only on firefox. I suffer no such issues on other browsers, nor does it affect my computer, so I consider this isolated to just firefox itself, and I was wondering how I would go about fixing this.

All my dad said was he accidentally pressed a key on my keyboard and it messed it all up. He doesn't know enough about computers to know what he could've pressed.

is there anyway to change zoom or size or something in these apps without editing the font size? if not plz recommend me a good size of TFT that is widescreen and displays all things perfectly

Hi there, first post for me.

I have a Mac book with boot camp 1.2 installed on it. It hasn’t given me any problems up until today.

I turned it on and loaded up Simply Accounting. I noticed that the program window fonts were too small. I thought this had to be a simply accounting problem, as i didn’t notice anything odd with my other Windows font in windows explorer.

After doing some exploring i found that it was not only Simply Accounting, but other windows programs were affected as well.

I looked in the typical windows appearance settings and saw that all was untouched. I’m stumped.

Here are a couple pics i took with my camera. They aren’t that great, but my print screen function doesn’t work because i am using boot camp 1.2 and it doesn’t have this function mapped yet. I am in the process of upgrading.

I have opened Filemon and Simply Accounting so you can see the font size is ridiculously small.

The fonts and work area look like they are squished... very strange.
Any ideas ?

Hi there
Any "tinkerers" or customisation gurus out there.

On a laptop even with a decent size screen is there any way to increase the font size of text of applications installed via "classic windows install" such as Office / photoshop etc. (Not Metro apps).

On those smaller but absolutely stunning "Ultrabooks" the text becomes quite hard to read too - if you increase the font size "globally" in windows then you have problems with some screens not fitting properly - so I just want to increase the text within the tiles.

enc magnified screenshot of a typical tile -- even here the text is relatively small .

Anybody out there !!

Hello all...this is my first post, I'm a computer novice...so please bear with me.

While using MS Word, I've accidentally hit a combination of keys (possibly CTRL, windows START, ALT and others were involved) and it has reduced the font size to something like a 2 or 3 point when it actually says in the tool bar it's still 12 point. This occurs whenever I open a new MS Word document or go to write a new email using MS Outlook or go to reply or forward an email, it minimises the signature too!!!

Now when I go to open up a previous email or previous Word document, the orginal font size is maintained. So really, it only occurs when writing new documents or email replies. I don't believe it's a zoom issue, because as I type this, the IE page looks normal.

I've tried rebooting my machine, no go, tried various key combinations e.g. Ctrl + Shift + P etc, etc...no joy.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm currently running on Windows XP with Microsoft's Internet Explorer 6.0.

At some point, my account's font size or style has been changed to a larger size, making some websites difficult to read or to load differently. I would like to change the size back to normal.

I have tried: changing font sizes through the above "view" and "text size" buttons, holding down "CTRL" and using my mouse to scroll through text sizes, changing text accessibility through the interent options, and STILL I'm getting nowhere.

I noticed that these above changes effected most text size, but did NOt effect hyperlink text size.

Let me give an example:
The first attached file is a screenshot, entitled "screenproblem," that shows a website with my problem. The second file is a screenshot, entitled "noproblemscreen," that shows how the website normally loads. I got this screenshot by logging into another account on the SAME computer that obviously does not have this format issue. As you can see, there are many differences in how the two accounts interpret the site-- my account formats the site with no background colors, hyperlinks are enlarged, etc.

How can I fix this? It's very aggrevating and I cannot think of how to do it!

Many thanks.

I recently enlarged the font size presented on my display i.e. --- the procedure being:
--- "control panel"
--- "display"
--- "settings"
--- "advanced"
--- select "General" tab

The DPI setting is now 150% of normal size.

Having selected the desired changes, the window presented, overflows the screen such that the "OK" at the bottom (I assume) that one must click on to initiate the desired changes is not visible and cannot be selected.

There is no scroll bar with which to reposition the window.

How can I reposition the window, initiate the changes or return to the original default settings?

I can change a lot of things using the appearances tabs, but I can't change the Desktop Font Size.

The "normal" way to do this that Win7 provides is to change the DPI from 100% to 125, 150 or custom. HOWEVER, doing that causes some programs to not work correctly. For instance Titan Quest, and I've heard in comments on gaming forums that other games sometimes have the same problem. Changing DPI in Win7 causes the cursors to not work properly in many full-screen games and apps. Changing DPI back to 100% requires a reboot, which is a pain.

SO... Is there any way, some registry tweak, perhaps, that will allow me to change the desktop font to a larger size?

Right now, I'm having to resort to switching back and forth from 800x600 screen resolution when I can't read some things. On a widescreen monitor, that's a shameful waste of monitor space. It seems there should be an easier way to do this.

Using Mail for Win 10 for first time, as that is what appeared for my Outlook email account. I found today that when using either CC or BCC a 'Return' occurs immediately after entering an email address, thereby moving the cursor to the line below, requiring moving the cursor back to that original line so that another email address can be entered, and again and again.. Never saw this before so probably/hopefully a fix is coming.

While typing an email I touched the Caps Lock key mid-sentence and typed one capital letter in error. I touched that key turning off the caps lock function and the light went off. But from that point on I could only type in CAPS regardless of what I did. I had to close email and restart it to have it return to normal. Anyone else find that to be the case? How to fix?

Greetings -
Since CHKDSK cannot scan the system partition (and other partitions under certain circumstances) from within Windows, you're given the option to run it at the next boot. All good. The font/display size used by CHKDSK under these circumstances prevents you from viewing all the data at once, however.
This isn't a huge issue, and certainly not a functional one. The first two lines are the ones usually lopped off/scrolled out of view. It *would* be convenient to see those lines though, particularly which drive is being scanned. I often run CHKDSK overnight, and can't tell from the display which drive it's working on.
Any ideas how to make the font smaller or the display area larger? Any help you could provide would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Also, no matter what I do, the welcome page with the user acct icons are so small! I am sure missing the look of xp now. I never had to do anything for it.
Oh and it is a Dell 17" lcd couple of years old if that makes any difference.

A:Is there a way to change color, font, size to resemble xp in w7?
