I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I haven't found a way to do this in Edge, but I did find a work around. I don't know why they've made things so hard! What I did is open Internet Explorer (you may have to search for it, but it's still on Windows 10), navigate to the address you want to favorite, add the site to your favorites in IE, go into the IE favorites and right-click on the one you want to change the URL for, choose properties, then edit the URL and save or apply. Next you'll just import the favorites again in Edge and it should pop up. Hope this helps!

Since installing the November Windows 10 update (11/17/15) none of my favorites are being stored in the default Edge folder. While in Edge the favorites are available but when I go to the default folder they are not listed. Is there another location they may be being saved or has my default location somehow been changed? My AppData folder shows a creation date of 11/17/15 with no modifications being made in favorites since that date.

I've just updated Windows 10 to the latest major update (1511). When it finished, it had re-imported some of my old favorites (from IE) into Edge.

My favorites are now in a bit of a mess and I need to do a fairly big cleanup.

I find the standard Microsoft solution for managing (from the hub) to be a huge PITA.

Does anybody know of a more user friendly way to manage them (can't even order alphabetically). Would there even be an app that can be used for this purpose?

Hi.
I'm trying to import all my currentbookmarks from I.E. Explorer into ME.
Google Chrome was the source of my initial bookmarks.

Here are the steps I performed.
1. Went to Google Chrome bookmarkmanager, exported a HTML file of my new bookmarks.
2. Launched Internet Explorer 11.
3. Manually deleted all my oldBookmarks in IE 11.
4. Imported HTML file into IE 11,
5. Launched Microsoft Edge.
6. Imported Bookmarks from IE 11 into Microsoft Edge.
When I examined my Bookmarks in ME, it appears many are missing.
Basically, it looks to be an old version of Bookmarks from IE 11 that is being imported into ME.
Any new websites I bookmarked in Chrome within the past 2 year are not showing in ME favorites.
I rarely used Internet Explorer as my Browser, and only did a full import 2 years ago.
I understand IE 11is not being supported by Microsoft. But how do we get the latestBookmarks into Microsoft Edge after and upgrade if IE is my only bridge.

Does anybody have any ideas what could be happening?

BTW: I tried to import from IE browser into ME browser, but that option has been disabled.

Thanks.
Tom.

Hello,

My problem has 3 parts I feel all are related.

1. My favorites bar is visible and I get one successful use of it. I can select a saved address and go to that location via the browser then the address bar is still visible but I cannot open or use it. However, I can access favorites via the side panel setting hub.

2. I get the malfunction or browser error occasionally where a page goes blank and I must open another tab before returning to the blank page whereby it is then visible and available.

3. If I use the settings hub to access various features all seem to work for me except when I go into Advanced Settings then it is as if the menu is invisible, I see it but if I click or try to select or change anything the resulting action is taken from whatever is active or displaying on the webpage behind the hub advanced settings.

Microsoft Edge has always had some interesting anomalies on my system, including windows 8 and a different video card and monitor. My screen resolution is 1920 x 1280. Vizio HDTV hdmi M70-C3 series.

I am a windows 10 pro user x64. NVidia GeForce 740 all drivers are up to date. I have always reformatted and chosen to do a clean install of any new major OS revisions. My browser zoom is set to 100%.

Thanks, Droidly

Okay, I did not see a thread for this so please do not ban me if there is one:

I am having a problem with Microsoft Edge. I am trying to turn on the Sync Your Content setting in Windows 10 Pro to sync my favorites and reading list.
The problem is that it has that red script below it saying "To Sync, turn on Windows syncing in Settings"
I have already clicked on the settings shortcut below that and gone to the settings and everything is turned on in the Sync settings. I have nothing turned off there.

I have tried going to the registry at HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\SettingSync\Groups and everything is turned on there as far as I can tell.

Does anyone have a fix for this issue? This is my second computer so I would not be too flussed if I never got this fixed but just in case the issue appears on the computer of one of my relatives/friends I would like to know how to fix it.

Hi!

I've been using Windows 10 for about 2 months now and do like the feel of it.

Now, I have a problem with the Edge browser not saving a website I try to favorite in a new folder under Favorites.

When favoriting a website to Favorites or Favorite Toolbar, is saves the website as the star becomes yellow. But, if I make a new folder under Favorites and try to save to it, no luck. The star does not change to yellow nor does it favorite it under the new folder created.

Additionally, when I try to remove the folder created under Favorites, right clicking gives me the "remove" option but when I select it, nothing happens.

This is driving me nuts. Does anyone know a solution to this?

Hi,
Go to Task manager, right click Edge Process, click Details, right click Microsoft Edge CP.exe and End task, repeat this for all instances of Microsoft Edge.exe. Reboot and see whether it fixes the problem.

This is really a MS EDGE question, but as there isn't a forum category for it (why on earth isn't there) I will ask it here in the IE 11 forum. Has anyone written a script, extension or plugin that will allow me to search through my extensive favorites collection?
Is there an app that can accomplish this almost universal service in every other browser?  I try to use the browser native to the OS I'm using. I have looked in other MS support forums and not an answer to be found about this. Several iterations
of this very basic question have gone unanswered for almost 3 years.  Is MS
trying loose customers? Any suggestions?  Any idea about why there isn't a forum category for EDGE. When it launched, it looked as though MS was sincere about maintaining a net browser, but they also acted as though they were going to
make, sell and support mobile phones, but we all know what happened with that.  Any answer at all regarding these questions would be greatly appreciated.

Hi

I have a clean installation of Windows 10.1 enterprise (English).
I try to use Microsoft Edge browser to search a query. All settings are just "default out of the box".

Most queries work ok but if I try a query with a dot then browser thinks I am entering an URL. For example I try searching "xamarin forms 2.0". This ends up with browser attempting to open an URL: "http://xamarin%20forms%202.0/"
which obviously fails.

In classic Internet Explorer 11 this problem does not reproduce, only in Edge.

Any idea how to fix that?

Best regards,

I hope I have explained it clearly - and you can see the frustration of the outloook programme.

It is as though outlook simply refuses to recognise the new default email account I have set up!

Frustrating to say the least - any technical help appreciated.

Hi,

My question is as follows:
(System specs: see signature)

In Internet Explorer (V. 5.50.4807.2300) there is an inbuilt interface that theoretically should enable one to organize the links & the folders in one's 'faborites' folder as one's heart should desire. This thing sucks. I mean, it behaves like a lab rat on LSD.

I know I can move items into folders manually (by directly accessing the 'favorites' folder), but I don't seem to be able to organize items within folders manually.

So, how can that be accomplished?

A:Manually organizing favorites in IE5

Ya know, organizing Favorites in IE has always been a pain. The only thing I can offer is to just make the folders you want and drag and drop the links you want into them. Then move the folders around in the order you like them. It takes a little effort. I have seen some third party software that organizes links for you and even checks to see if the links still are valid. Do a GOOGLE and see what pops up.

So I deleted the DataStore file, Edge Had no favorites, imported a saved one from a memory stick, favorites were back, all the folders in alphabetical order, followed by individual websites.
However, 10 minutes later and they are all jumbled up again.
Has anyone else had this happen, and does anyone know how to stop it happening?

Hey, I am struggeling with the Edge favorites. (build 1511) I found the favorites in the datastore. I can't make much of what I am seeing there. I see no folders and it's unclear in which folders the favorites go. I have three devices running the 1511 build and synching between them does not seem to work very well. I have put quite some effort in creating a number of favorites in the favorites bar only to seem them deleted for the most part several times now, it really annoys me!

When I import favorites from Chrome they do appear in the Edge browser, but not in the datastore folder you mentioned. And they will seemingly random be deleted in a couple of days I think.

I preferred the previous location of the favorites, at least there one could see folders and maybe organise them that way. Unfortunately sync of the previous folder between devices was a disaster in my case. The favorites in the Edge browser on my devices were not synched properly.

I love Edge's speed and looks but the lack of extensions coupled with this favorites mess is spoiling it for me. Can you help?

Is there any way to point it to Favorites again. I know I can do an Import, but that is only from IE or Chrome, the Favorites list of which are so out of date as to be useless.

I have looked in C:\Users\Username\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.MicrosoftEdge_8wekyb3d8bbwe\AC\MicrosoftEdge\User\Default\Favorites and it is empty.

Starting in in Windows 10 Insider Preview build 10565 and Windows 10 TH2 version 10511 build 10568, your favorites and favorites bar in Microsoft Edge are now stored in an ESE database file in the DataStore folder at the location below.

Hey gang,

I can't seem to figure this one out. When I set up Win 10 a few days ago, I imported my IE settings into Edge. All my favorites are there, and the ones I had pinned to my favorites bar are there. But I can not seem to figure out, how to add a favorite to the favorites bar in Edge?

I am sure I am probably missing something simple here, as it has been a while since I have done this even in IE.

Thanks for any tips,

In IE, deleted favorites ended up in the Recycle bin from where you could get rid of them for good. Now that I am using Edge I don't see the deleted favorites in the recycle bin. Where are they? Taking room in an unseen file?
Does anyone know?

Was this question too hard or too trivial that nobody bothered to answer?

I switched over to Microsoft Edge from Firefox for my browser because Firefox kept on crashing and Edge seems to work better with Windows 10. My question is, ?Is there a way to get your favorites up on your Menu bar the same way as it is I n Firefox?? I just do not care to have to open up the favorites Hub every time and would prefer to go to my drop-down list of favorites like it was in Firefox. Thank you in advance.

So, one of the annoying things about Edge is that the Favorites are all stored in a database, and there is no UI feature to edit them (such as changing the url after the Favorite has been created).

This can be a little annoying when the link you want to save as a favorite gets redirected right away, so you don't have a chance to store the root favorite.

The easiest way to work around this is to create the favorite in IE, then import favorites into Edge. Yes, it's an extra step, but it works for me. Technically, this is not Editing the favorite, it's recreating it... but it gives you more control.

Old computer with W8 died. I copied the Favorites folder from the old disk; but, when I copy them into the Favorites folder in the new Windows 10 machine, Edge does not pick them up as in the past.

How do I get Edge to see the Favorites?

Unfortunately, you have to drag them from the imported folder to the Favorites Bar manually.

My question pretty well describes it: I've imported my favorites from Chrome, but: they're in reverse order. Which wouldn't be much of a problem but for the fact that I have a large number of favorites.

I've looked around quite a bit but have yet to discover if there's any sort of favorites management. Anyone? Help?!

A:Is it possible to re-order favorites in EDGE?

Not yet and it's one of the reasons why I'm still using IE.

Hello everybody,

I have been trying to figure out how to create folders and have favorites in them in the Edge browser. I have a ton of favorites that are organized by folder of what topic they deal with. My googlefu seems to point to an answer of no folders on the favorites bar, just an endless list of items. Knowing Microsoft the way I do this seems very unlikely, my take is that they love nesting.

Any suggestions?

A:Nesting favorites in Edge

Microsoft Edge now lets you add new folders, drag and drop items from the favourites list and generally sort out the nesting to your hearts content. All this from the dropdown menu icon at the top right (the three horizontal lines).

I went to come here a few minutes ago from Edge and my bleepingcomputer link in favorites was just gone.  Not shure what I may have done. I know I quit following every post I made. Didn't even know I was lol. And I deleted about 250 emails in Hotmail/outlook but that should not have affected Edge should it? For some reason I have not been able to get into my emails for a little while. Thanks.Edit: Moved topic from BleepingComputer Announcements, Comments & Suggestions to the more appropriate forum, since this is not site related. ~ Animal
