I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

I did some updates on my Yoga and now my touchscreen no longer works. I have gone to the device manager and updated and checked on it. No luck. My pen works, but the finger touch does not. Nothing else seems to have happened to my computer past the updates. It seems like others seem to have this problem since updating their computers. My computer is no longer under warranty, and since I bought this thing for its touchscreen, I am a little choked that it has gone kaput. Would it have been the update that caused it, or would it have been just a case of it went kaputsky at the same time and it is a mere coincidence? Either way, I am really upset that this machine is broken so soon. Any idea if there is going to be an update to fix this or if it is now just blown?

After installing the latest firmware update (V.4.20/5.04/100.3) touch screen is dead. I looked at the device manager and no indication of error anywhere. Can't find device that would require an update - nothing like 'other device', nor under Human Interface Devices.  Noted that during the update it reported several times 'pen not found'.  How to enable touch screen again that worked perfectly fine until this update was installed?

Lenovo automatically installed a BIOS (1.39) and firmware update in November.  Lenovo Vantage says these updates were completed successfully. The touchscreen and pen stopped worked after that.  Windows doesn't recognize the pen or touch input anymore.  Firmware tool says "device not found".   Latest BIOS update (1.40) and Windows update in December didn't help.

Can't find a way to downgrade touch [email protected], any solution? Obviously, I am not the only victim. It is ridiculous that your recommended update will cause such trouble. In other thread, someone mentioned to replace screen. Really? The new update caused hardware damage?

Hi all,
I'm more curious than anything, for the device is running Windows 10 just fine, but do you have to first install Bios update A17 prior to A19? I couldn't get A19 to install. Thanks.

A:D630: Bios firmware update fails to install

It's more likely you're going to need to build a bootable flash drive with an earlier version of Windows to get the flash to work -- Windows 10 is not supported on this model, so it's very likely the flash installer won't run under 10 regardless of which version you're trying to flash.
Rufus is one easy way to make a bootable flash drive that will allow the flash to work.

I have tried multiple time to install the Thinkpad BIOS UPdate - 7/8 [32,64]/8.1/10 [64].
I follow instructions to plug-in and close all programs.
The installing bars will not complete past 91%. There is a prompt that asks to pick Thinkpad or Model Number. When I click Thinkpad and NEXT the computer SHUTS DOWN immediately (right after warning not to shut down or damage may occur). The computer screen goes black and 3 ominous beeps repeated 3 or 4 times sound. When I restart my computer nothing has updated.

I am unable to complete the Critical Update after trying 4 or 5 times. (Tried downloading and deferring install and the same thing occurred.)

(In tandem, I'm getting numerous STOPCODE errors from Microsoft after updating with the Fall Creators update. Not sure if it's related. I've had a variety of problems since the Fall Creators update and was hoping the BIOS update might clear things up.)

Any advice?

Last week I updated the Intel Management Engine Firmware on my T420s to Version 7.1 because it was declared urgent (I guess it fixes the commonly known vulnerability in the Intel ME). Now there seem to be some problems with it and/or the bios. I observe two effects: -When rebooting the laptop it powers off shortly, starts again, but doesn't find the SDD. You have to switch the laptop off completly and switch it on again to get it to work again. - When the laptop should go to sleepmode (S3) (i.e. by closing the lid), it simply turns off completly. Hiberation mode (S4) still works. The laptop is a T420s with Windows 7 64bit, all the Windows patches, BIOS 1.43 and Powermanager 6.68.12. In the windows event log I get the following warnings (Source: ACPI, Event-ID: 15): Der eingebettete Controller (EC) hat Daten zurückgegeben, als keine Daten angefordert wurden.

Hi,
(tl;dr) Background.
This all started with a fight on malware in W7 that I've lost. I realize that immunodeficiency of Windows is what we pay for convenience. Ability of malware to break out of vmware box was a nasty surprise, given that both guest and host are fully patched windows 7 with guest "protected" by ZoneAlarm av+fw and host "protected" by avast+windows firewall. Naive attempts to recover w7 from .img disk clone (storred on an offline disk) failed as well. The images got infected while I was changing the boot settings in bios. This was a rough awakening. To stop loss I "boot and nuked" and formatted all affected disks to ext4, installed Ubuntu and vmware with windows 7 guest on.

The problem.
Vmware flawlessly installed W7 guest on Ubuntu host from a genuine W7 installation disk. However, when I use the same disk to install W7 on bare metal it gets stuck at the first user input screen. Both keyboard and mouse are frozen.

Troubleshooting attempts.
Changing mouse/keyboard, hdd, RAM, video card did not solve the problem. Yes, I've formatted hdd to fat32 and ntfs, but that didn't help either. Also, afaik if windows can't find any suitable media it does not freeze at the first screen. Instead, it says "no suitable hardware found, please add a driver". I am heaving a problem way upstream. I had similar behavior when I was fighting virus, but I thought I cleaned it up by creating a new file tables (ms-dos) already.

Using the Lenovo Firmware Update Tool: https://pcsupport.lenovo.com/ca/fr/downloads/ds504448 The goal is to update the docking station's firmware. The EXACT same script is ran (simply : ThinkPad_Hybrid_Dock_TVSU_FW.exe /all /silent)  1-In SYSTEM session (via sccm or scheduled task) it ALWAYS fails with: Update fail. Failed to update the Device Firmware.Restart this program and try again.RC:60931  2-In a logged on user session, running the EXACT same script in the EXACT same way, it ALWAYS works: Update success.Success to update the Device Firmware.RC:0 Any idea if this is by design? What could prevent it from running in the SYSTEM account? This destroys the purpose of having a /silent switch. The goal is to deploy the firmware update via SCCM overnight when it's safe to do so. Having to log in and run the command defeats all automation possibilities. We have hundreds of docking stations to update...Right now, we would have to do it manually by logging in and running the script...This is a nightmare. Also, if I test running the command within a logged on session , let's say userX, it works. If I run the exact same script with the exact same userX credential but from a Scheduled Task or as a Windows Service, it doesn't work! It seems there is something in the tool preventing it to run anywhere except from within a logged on session....? Much appreciated.

Hello Lenovo Community!I own an Ideappad Z400 Touch and I had issues with trying to charge it. Obviously I turned to the forums here and I found a possible solution here. When I tried to perform a battery firmware update, it went smoothly and then suddenly turned off and had a fast flashing orange light. Obviously I knew my battery and/or charger let me down in the middle of the process. I'm kind of scared because I don't know what to do nor have the money to afford a new laptop. What most likely happened to the battery is that it got "electronically disconnected" and technically only relies on the AC adapter which now I have found out is pretty screwed up and stops charging once Windows actually boots up. Is there any way to fix this? Please help! Thank you and have a wonderful evening!

Looks to me like you're having problems accessing the COMONENTS registry hive - although I would have thought that would also make a SFC scan fail.

I suspect I know what the problem is - let's see if a different tool can expose it...
I need to see a full copy of the report produced by the MGADiag tool
(download and save to desktop - http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012 )
Once saved, run the tool.
Click on the Continue button, which will produce the report.
To copy the report to your response, click on the Copy button in the tool (ignore any error messages at this point), and then paste (using either r-click/Paste, or Ctrl+V ) into your response.x

A:X1 Yoga and Intel ME Firmware update being pushed but how?

Lenovo System Interface Foundation (LSIF) is doing this.  The only purpose of this app is to support Lenovo Settings and Lenovo Companion, so if you don't install these apps, there is no point to install LSIF.  One of the features of LSIF is to automatically install "critical" updates for Lenovo software and drivers, such as this recent Intel ME Firware update.

The Deployment Guide for Lenovo Settings and/or Companion explains this feature and how to disable it:  https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/solutions/hf003321

I have copied-and-pasted the relevent section below:

Chapter 4. Considerations for Deployment

Lenovo System Interface Foundation contains some features which may not be appropriate for enterprise customers.  Please read this section carefully to understand these features and consider whether they should be disabled in your specific environment.

1.  Automatic Updates ? Lenovo System Interface Foundation updates itself automatically whenever a new version is posted to the Lenovo website. Some IT organizations will want to disable this.  The automatic update can be disabled by registry.  To do so, copy-and-paste the below text into a .reg file and then import it into your registry:

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Lenovo\ImController]
"DisableAutoupdate"="1"

This is a heads up message as I was able to recover my system by doing a grub2-install booting from a recovery USB. I must say I had used `fwupdmgr update` before to update my Thinkpad's firmware and it worked flawlessly. However, this last update left my boot pointing at the wiped out Windows boot in UEFI, which rendered my boot broken. If anyone from Lenovo is listening, please try to avoid breaking Linux user's systems . It is more disapointing when this happens using a Linux only toolchain (Btw, kudos for the support of lvfs!) This is my `fwupdmgr get-history` output in case it provides some useful info: 20LDCTO1WW System FirmwareDeviceId: d3db6c5633d83a940028fc88d8102d1f1563e3a4Guid: fc5552dc-7882-409b-9b98-699361c74fc4Plugin: uefiFlags: internal|updatable|require-ac|supported|needs-rebootChecksum: SHA1(804154ccc003a77e9b0d88fcb2d52cf12050e434)Version: 0.1.29Created: 2019-06-06UpdateState: success[Release]RemoteId: lvfsVersion: 0.1.34Checksum: SHA1(269cea4389dd420e58b88f182eabeaab23d74e85)Flags: noneBootMgrDesc: legacyCompileVersion(com.redhat.fwupdate): 12DistroVersion: 20190607CompileVersion(org.freedesktop.fwupd): 1.2.8SecureBoot: EnabledCompileVersion(com.redhat.efivar): 37UEFIUXCapsule: EnabledESPMountPoint: /boot/efiCompileVersion(org.freedesktop.gusb): 0.3.0RuntimeVersion(com.dell.libsmbios): 2.4DistroId: opensuse-tumbleweedCpuArchitecture: x86_64BootTime: 1559848020RuntimeVersion(org.freedesktop.appstream-glib): 0.7.14RuntimeVersion(com.redha... I am trying to coble together two non-working Zen Xtras into a working one. I receive a message: "Firmware Problem," and am instructed to reload the firmware. When I attempt to do so, the firware does not recognize the device although the device shows up in My Computer as a Zen Xtra. I have reloaded the drivers. When I attempt to reinstall the firmware, it states that it cannot detect the device and please connect it now. How do I resolve this lack of recognition?
