T470 - Bitlocker is suspended after imaging

Q: T470 - Bitlocker is suspended after imaging

We have a few of the new T470 laptops. The image completes (Windows 7 64 Bit) and Bitlocker is in a suspended state. If I go and resume Bitlocker I get the message that the TPM chip is not configured correctly and that I need to initialize the TPM chip to use bitlocker enable TPM (1.2). Currious to see if anyone else has ran into this issue with Windows 7 64 bit on these laptops yet.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Anyone experience their T470 being hot while suspended? I should note that I'm using Linux, but from reviewing dmesg the laptop is suspended on lid closed. The red light pulsates, but the CPU gets hot. First noticed after pulling it out of my bag, and it was very hot. Kernel dmesg shows it waking up when I open the lid, but obviously not everything is powering down how it should. I haven't tried with Windows yet, but would it make a difference? I thought suspended was suspended. But perhaps I'm wrong.  I'll be able to try with Windows in 2 weeks or so. Thanks.

After receiving my T470 I added a 16GB stick of Crucial DDR4 memory and noticed it gets hot while the laptop is suspended; battery usage while suspended is also quite high. I tried this stick alone in both slots and the same thing happens. Of course, with the stock Samsung RAM alone, this does not happen. It stays nice and cool when suspended. This happens with Windows and Linux, so I don't think its an OS issue. Any ideas? Thanks.

Hi All,
We've implimented Windows 7 to our organisation, but we're having some sporadic issues with BitLocker.
We've recently bought in Toshiba Z830 laptops (TPM 1.2, BIOS Ver 1.6) to our fleet and we're finding in about 10% of rebuilds (using PXE F12 boot or SCCM deployment) that the BitLocker starts to encrypt the C drive, but suspends itself before completion.
When the user logs in when being issued the laptop there is a prompt in the task bar telling them that their drive encryption is in a suspended state. We can start the encryption again at this point with administrator credentials, but this is still a

Hello, I recently bought a T470 (7th generation processor) for myself to do some college stuff on. After installing Ubuntu 16.04 as a dual boot and changing the Grub to make windows a priority in the bootoptions, Windows started to ask for the Encryption Key for the BitLocker everytime I try to boot into Windows. I have the standard Windows 10 home edition installed and can't find any options to disable the Bitlocker. I do not need the bitlocker since I dont have a lot of sensitive data to protect as a student. I also do not want to reinstall Windows because that would errase my programs and will not be benefitial for my deadlines. Is there any 'simple' way to get around this? To disable Bitlocker completely for example? I have found a lot of information about the TPM buit I can't see my solution in all of the topics that already have been made (I did a lot of pre-research beforehand of writing this topic) The only option I want to try is to erase the TPM in Windows (through tpm.msc) and to configure the bios to secure boot and UEFI only. But I don't want to try it if it will make my Windows un-usable. I can also change the Grub to what it was before in Ubuntu and see if that changes things, but I don't think it will help. Tried this, didn't work. Can anyone help me in this matter?

After rebooting one of our test machines, bitlocker wanted the recovery key.
There were no hardware modifications on that machine.
Error message in event log:
Bootmgr failed to obtain the bitlocker volume master key from the TPM because the PCRs did not match

Each time the machine starts, the recovery key is needed.
Any idea how to solve that issue and why it happens?
Second partition was created manually on that machine. So that's clear that bitlocker reacts...
But now: how can I confirm those changes so that the recovery key is not needed each time we boot?

I would like to confirm if BitLocker accepts the recovery key?
Please update the BIOS to improve the stability for TPM first.
I also would like to suggest you disable and enable BitLocker again to reset the settings.

I tried using HP BIOS Flashing utility on my HP Z400 Workstation, and it says it can't continue because I have Bitlocker enabled, but I don't have bitlocker on Win 7 Professional 32bit. I don't see it on the control panel or in context menus. I do see it set to manual in "Services" but the service in not running. Is there a way to find drives Bitlocked or are my drives being treated as bitlocked because of my antivirus program AVG?

In the services window is there and option to disable or turn off...there should be. Just change the startup type from manual to disable and reboot. Then try your BIOS update.

Hello and good afternoon, I have a issue where a manager started the Bitlocker process on the SD card in his Surface Pro 3

with Windows 8.1. The Bitlocker attempt failed at 3.4% completed but the SD card ended up being Bitlocked without providing the Bitlocker Recovery Key (I've never seen this happen before). He doesn't know the password for the SD card and of course
I've been tasked to somehow release the encryption so that he can get the required information off of the SD card.

Is there anything that can be done to release the encryption on the SD card or has the SD card been made non-accessible moving forward?

For some reason starting about a week ago certain processes occasionally become suspended on my laptop. I'm running Windows 10x64 Pro on a Sager laptop with 16 GB of RAM and then i7 processor. The processor becomes suspended varies but IE 11 is one of the ones that become suspended and when it does obviously cause all kinds of problems. I'm attaching a screen capture showing 4 processes that were just suspended when I checked. Any idea how this is happening and how to prevent it?

What sort of problems does this cause?

The ability to suspend programs particular the new style apps is a design feature of W8 and W10 and is to ensure that they do not consume memory and CPU time when they are idle. If you open resource monitor and look at the CPU tab all the suspended apps are shown in blue at the top.

Hi- My first post.
I've got a Toshiba laptop running Windows7. I like windows7 a lot actually!

Today, I tried to install a video program. It never seemed to work and hung up on "installing directx plugins". So, I downloaded Directx 11. It still didn't work and so I uninstalled the video trial (Vegas).

Anyway, so now, when I go to use my recording software (Sonar and Cakewalk) it tries to launch and installs it's plugins, but hangs up during launch. I go to Task Mgr and it says it's running, but only at 11,438 bits.

I look further into the TM and it says these programs are running but "Suspended". Not sure why this would be, I can only think of the new Directx thing.

So I tried doing a system restore to before I installed dx11. Still no go.

I CAN get both programs to run in Safe Mode, but it's not practical.

Any ideas what I can do short of an OS reinstall?

I think the app suspension feature as implemented pretty poorly without the option to disable this behaviour for select apps. I'd like to use the apps but I simply can't seeing that the main programs I use break when they're suspended.

Skype stops all contentions and will rarely give me message notification on new conversation, and while most types of downloads in Chrome will break including streams and sometimes even normal http downloads. If I want to check on another app like Skype or my email I'd like to switch from Chrome and come back hoping my stream be complete or download still working. Instead I have to juggle my apps around to make sure Chrome never leaves the screen for more than 5 seconds or I'll have to start all over

I wouldn't mind if Skype and Chrome were in the background using memory 100% of the time. I know this should be left to the developer to improve the background app functionality, but for the time being is there any way I can prevent suspension?

Ok this is kind of a weird problem to have. and i can't get a straight answer from Blizzard as to why this has happened. a few months ago, i had a string of bad luck. i was playing starcraft: brood war on battle.net and my power went off. well, when this happens bnet sees this as a "sudden disconnect." and sudden desconnects constitute a short ip ban. so this one lasted about 15 minutes. well, about a week later, the same thing happened to me again. this time, i was banned for a couple of days. the very same day the ip ban was lifted it happened again. anyways, after that was lifted and happened once more, i was ip banned for about 2 months. when that ip ban was finally lifted and i sign onto bnet once more, my chat privileges had been suspended. now, i have talked to blizzard on the phone twice and they told me that my cd-key had been muted and could not be reversed. the weird thing is, all this stuff happened to me on my desktop. i use a wireless router to play on my laptop sometimes and also the same cd-key and i don't have this problem on my laptop. so its obviously not my cd-key that's the problem. also, if i understand correctly, the public ip is what would be tagged if it were an ip issue and that's the same on my laptop and desktop, so i don't see how that could be the problem. i told blizzard all of this and they said that i may have some sort of virus that's causing it. i've ran all sorts of scans and can't find anyt... I am able to login to my inbox but when I try to open an email I get an error message " User Mail Server Account Suspended". I have tried accessing my emails through the bigpond home page webmail link on my laptop (a windows 8) and on my ipad with safari, both with the same error message.
I contacted bigpond support (thru 24x7 live chat) who remotely accessed my laptop to view my email and told me that I had a malware virus (the heartbleed is the one he mentioned) and I needed to deal with their bigpond platinum service for a fee of $15 per month (for 2yr contract) or $200 for 1 fix. The bigpond support guy said that my account hasn't been suspended but the reason I am unable to access my emails is because of the malware that is on my laptop is stopping any email activity.

Looking for a beefy gaming rig, and don't mind getting your hands a little wet? Hardcore Computer's Reactor might just be the 100-pound computational monolith for you.

Crafted from 2.5mm-thick aircraft aluminum and packed with powerful hardware, the Reactor is already a fairly striking and competitive machine. But there's a secret weapon sloshing around in that unassuming tank: four and a half gallons of cooling oil.

PC enthusiasts looking to get the most power out of their machines have often turned to overclocking ? pushing key components to perform faster than the manufacturer intended. This generates quite a bit of heat, which is traditionally fought using an array of fans or a maze of tubes pumping cooling fluid to select components.

The Reactor takes the liquid-cooled principle a bit further by submerging everything into a tank of coolant. Of course, this isn't your average fish tank filled with mineral oil ? take a look at the innards of this (relatively) mini-supercomputer.

Left: Behold, Hardcore Computer's Reactor. Like most gaming PCs, it's crammed with overclocked, high-performance hardware. But there's an important difference here: Every single component is submerged in a custom-designed cooling oil, called Core Coolant. Less trouble with heat means a faster, highly stable system. Dunking everything in fluid works surprisingly well, and is more efficient compared with traditional air- or water-cooling methods.

Hackers exploit suspended and inactive Twitter accounts:
SOURCE: ibtimes.com (ARTICLE DATE: 3 Sep 2016)

A hacker group has claimed to have discovered an exploit that allows them to seize and reactivate suspended and inactive accounts on Twitter. The group called "Spain Squad" was reportedly able to briefly reactivate accounts that were previously banned from the platform including @Hitler, @1337, @DarkNet, @LizardSquad and @Hell and take control of them with the hope of selling the infamous screennames to the highest bidder, Business Insider reports...

While handles such as @Hitler, @LizardSquad and @Hell were previously suspended by Twitter, other accounts like @AK47, @1337 and @megaupload have been inactive for a while. If an account is found violating Twitter's rules or terms of service by engaging in abusive activities such as spam, harassment, hateful conduct or promotion of violence, it may be "temporarily locked and/or subject to permanent suspension." Once suspended, there is usually no way of creating a new, separate account with the same screenname or reinstate it without the company's go-ahead.

If an account has been inactive for some time or abandoned by a user, the account isn't usually deleted by Twitter, basically rendering it unavailable for anyone else to claim.
"Suspended and deactivated usernames are not immediately available for use, so you'll need to select a different username," Twitter's suppor... Read more

A:The Install Wizard Will Complete The Suspended Installation Of A Feature

<<The highlighted volumes do not have enough disk space available for the currently selected features. You can remove files from the highlighted volumes, choose to install less features onto local drives, or select different destination drives.>>

I suspect that this is the reason for the failed install, insufficient space on the hard drive.

I also suspect that the install will proceed normally if you move sufficient files from the hard drive to another partition, DVD, whatever.

So the first thing I would suggest is disk cleanup, emptying the Recycle Bin, removal of all unnecessary data files, and moving all video, graphics, text, and word files to another location.

How many partitions or hard drives do you have and how much free space is on each?

I've never had a failed install (other than RC2 of XP SP3) which did not immediately spell out what the problem might be.

Alright, well, here's the issue
(I come on this site all the time, for trouble shooting, thought I'd finally make an account.)
I have come to find that after start up, after a few minutes. My computer will run EXTREMELY slow, I would wait a few minutes and open up task manager, and see that my CPU (AMD athalon 64 X2 Dual core processor 6000+ 3.1GHtz) and my Ram (16GB gameing ram clocked at 800) both maxed out at 100%, with no other programs running. Just after ideling from start up.
I open the resource monitor, and click (from highest useage) and one of the SVChost.exe files are causeing all of my resources to be taken up.
"for those who will want to know, it's SVChost.exe (LocalServiceAndNoImpersonation)"

So for the past few months, it's either I don't turn my computer off, or when I do, I need to be quick and catch it when it does start eating up the resources.

The only reason why it's a pissoff to me to the point of posting about it, and actually posted about something, is because if I want to start MSN or Skype (only those 2 programs that I know about) I need to go through the whole SVChose.exe list, find that one, un-suspend it, wait for the program to finish starting up, and pray that it doesn't lock up my computer.

I have Win7 64bit Home Premium, SP1
running on my custom gaming computer built by myself.

I have already ran multiple virus scans and even the windows CMD scan. (That took like a day)

I do have teamviewer if someone eventually wants to connec... Read more

Initially I found that BitLocker on the Go supported removable media like flash drives and external drives. Why isn't a CD/DVD supported since it is considered removable media? Will this support be available in future releases?

A:Will BitLocker or BitLocker on the Go ever support CD/DVD encryption?

Bitlocker to Go is not supported on CD/DVD. Your suggestion is valuable, I will forward this information to the appropriate department through our internal channel.
Both the Microsoft Product Team and Development Team will take into consideration all suggestions and feedback for future releases.
Currently, you may need third party software to encrypt CD/DVD.

Hello, I'm having an issue with my Windows 8.1 that the computer always crash after I want to resume to my suspended activity. I've read in other places that the issue was the Hybrid Shutdown. Well, for some reason, my computer does not have this option, but I was able to disable it via regedit.exe and cmd.exe.
By other people complaints, this issue happened just after they upgraded to Windows 8.1, when for me, it happened in the last update (I was already using Windows 8.1 and my computer was suspending it just fine).
I use suspend on my computer for fast loading time, instead of powering on and off. I was doing this for forty (40) days, before I decided to restart to make some updates (The Windows Update was realized between 12/31/2014 and 01/01/2015):
The latest updates were:
KB3000850 (Optional update) ( http://support.microsoft.com/kb/3000850/en-us )
KB3013769 (Optional update) ( http://support.microsoft.com/kb/3013769/en-us )
KB3013816 (Optional update) ( http://support.microsoft.com/kb/3013816/en-us )
KB3014442 (???) [Not shown on the Update History table] ( http://support.microsoft.com/kb/3014442/en-us *)
*This link redirects to the KB300850 support link.
There was also a Intel update (my Graphics Card is Intel-based), which I haven't found on the list of the updates (possibly this update is only shown on the Intel graphics program.
As mentioned above, I edited some values on regedit.exe and... Read more
