I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Let me know if this works for you:
...open Windows (file) Explorer
...navigate to the file named EXCEL.EXE
...right click on that file
...select Send to from the context menu
...select Desktop (create shortcut) from the sub-menu

Repeat for each program of interest.

Good day

I need urgent help please. To make a long story short, I had to reset my Toshiba Satellite laptop (purchased in 2014) to its factory settings because my laptop became very slow and my MS Office Home & Student 2013 package became corrupted/not responding/not opening.

After the reset to factory settings, I had to reinstall my Microsoft Office package again. But after the resetting, my installment CD will not install, I have even tried to download the specific MS Office from the Microsoft website with my product code, but it will not install successfully. I have even "forced uninstall" with the advised software to remove ALL Office components from Windows 8 (on my laptop), then tried reinstall again, but NO success! I have tried "repair" Office and even tried to "repair" Windows 8. Nothing works, my laptop rejects installment of Microsoft Office Home & Student 2013 - Word, Excel and PowerPoint shows in my programs list, but does not open at all, not even in a "save mode".

I have contacted Microsoft Support and they have suggested that I contact Toshiba Support to get "diagnostics" to run on my laptop. I don't know what to do, can it be a Toshiba problem?

Please advise, because all other advice I could find on the internet and on the Microsoft website does NOT work. Thank you.

I bought a new laptop to replace my old laptop. I want to transfer my copy of Microsoft Office Home and Student 2013 software from the old laptop to new laptop. I understand that I can transfer the Microsoft Office Home and Student 2013 software from the Microsoft Software license terms. It read as follows:

Can I transfer or reassign the software to another user or computer?
You may not transfer the software to another user. You may transfer the software directly to a third party only as installed on the licensed computer, with the Certificate of Authenticity label and this agreement. Before the transfer, that party must agree that this agreement applies to the transfer and use of the software. You may not retain any copies. You may reassign this software license to a different computer any number of times, but not more than one time every 90 days. If you reassign, that other computer becomes the ?licensed computer.? If you retire the licensed computer due to hardware failure, you may reassign the license sooner.Click to expand...

If I interpret the above right, I am free to install the copy of Microsoft Office Home and Student 2013 into the new laptop. My question would be, how do I go about doing that? Do I need to call Microsoft to tell them I am installing Microsoft Office Home and Student 2013 into the new laptop? Do I uninstall Microsoft Office Home and Student 2013 from the old laptop first? Or do I install on the new laptop, activate it for the new laptop and... Read more

Good morning

Please Help! I have recently reset my laptop to factory settings because my laptop became slow and some programs, like Microsoft Office Home & Student 2013, were corrupted. I have a faster laptop now but my Office 2013 was still not responding, not even opening the Word, Excel or PowerPoint at all.

I have tried "control panel, uninstall" but it did not uninstall at all. Then I have tried the "Total Uninstall 6" and could remove all of Windows 2013 and hidden components successfully. After removal, I have used my Office installation CD to reinstall Office again. Unfortunately my Office 2013 was still corrupt! Error message: "microsoft office will let me know if they have a solution"...something like that.

I have "force uninstall" Office AGAIN and tried again to download office, but this time from the Microsoft Office official website by putting in my product key code and following the installation instructions. Still, my Office 2013 will not work :-(.

I have tried "repair" (control panel), even downloaded the "fix" programs from the Microsoft website, NOTHING WORKS!

I don't know what to do, all the advice given over the internet and Microsoft website does not install my Office Home & Student 2013 successfully or repair my Office successfully...I am very dependent on this package and have paid for it, legally....I expect it to work, especially the website version.

I am running a copy of Office 2007 Ultimate that I got through an academic program. I need to install a key for Office 2010 on a new system. The cost for the key only is about $20 less than a 3 license traditional disk version, so I am considering upgrading every system.

However, I don't want to lose MS Access or MS Publisher to upgrade.

If I install Office 2010 Home & Student over Office 2007 Ultimate, will the extra programs from Office 2007 still be available to me? I know they will not be upgraded, but having a few different versions floating around doesn't bother me.

The only location for that code would be on a card that shipped with the system - if you have lost that, you're essentially out of luck and will need to purchase a new license.

I have a 60-day trial version of Microsoft Office. Somehow I managed to lock all my Word documents and cannot modify them. On the "Review" tab (on what's known as the Ribbon), the "Protect Document" tab is not active. I had been able to create and change documents, even though I by-passed entering a product key (which I don't have) which limits the programs functionality. I just bought a new Dell system with Windows 7. The 60-day Home & Student program came as a bonus. How do I get the lock undone? With the limited functionality, I am at a loss as to how I locked the files in the first place.

A:Microsoft Office Home & Student

I believe you would need to purchase a product key to activate MS Office again. This could be through the program (if you want the Home & Student version) or any other version through a store (online or retail).CaseyEDIT: You've kinda posted this in the wrong forum really - I would presume you should have posted here: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/f/16/business-applications/

I would like to buy this on eBay. The vendor doesn't know if it will work with windows 10. Will it be a hassle for drivers and compatibility?

I only have an external usb dvd drive. Will it load OK from that?

A:Microsoft MS Office 2007 Home and Student

My main concern would be if it's genuine and a retail version that will activate successfully. You'd be safer buying a retail version from a real retailer or online etailer to ensure you won't have issues with activation or legitimacy. Also, 2007 is pretty old, 2016 is the current version and usually can be bought for $149 or less, sometimes for $99 for the Home and Student version.

As for drivers, drivers have no relation to Office. Office 2007 is compatibility with Windows 10 and will install from an internal or external DVD drive.

Hi there, I bought and installed Microsoft Office Home and Student 2010 on my computer (Windows 7)  in August last year. Everything worked well until yesterday when I suddenly found I could no longer open any Office component. When I try, I get an error message telling me that Microsoft can no longer verify the licence for this application. A repair attempt failed or was cancelled. (I tried once to repair it from the control panel).
What I Have Tried; I have removed Office from the control panel and downloaded it from the Microsoft site, I have my original box and product key that I entered for the download but after download it would not open and I got the same message again. There is still an entry for Office in Programme and Features/ control panel list that I cannot remove or change/repair but there is no entry for the amount of space used next to it, so I'm wondering if the file has been corrupted and that is why it will not work or download properly. I have had Office since August as stated but Microsoft only help up until 90 days and mine is older than that.

i am tight for cash with the holidays so i am wondering is there a way to get a key or extend the trial version so i can at least get into the program and get what i have typed so far and continue on another program.

i hate spending the money when i only really want to get my first few chapters that i have typed out. it will not let me cut and paste it or anything . i can see it but it is locked.

also if i am forced to buy the program and install it do i lose my writings when the new microsoft office home and student 2007 is installed ///wil it over write it?

I bought a new laptop recently over the Thanksgiving holidays. On the laptop came a pre-installed Microsoft Office Home and Student 2007. It says I need to enter the 25 character product key, so I looked on the bottom of my laptop and I copied down the 25 character product key and entered it in, but it did not work. Does that mean I have to buy another Microsoft Office Home and Student 2007?

Another problem I have with it is my new laptop was horrible laggy when I tried playing games on it (MapleStory, Audition, etc.). I did everything I could to improve the performance speed for it (uninstalled programs I didn't need, deleted unwanted files, Disk Clean Up, scanned Disk for errors, Disk defragment, scanned for spyware/adware/viruses, clean registry, blocked some programs from starting when Vista is turned on) and for some reason, Microsoft office stopped working well. When I turn on Word, Excel, Powerpoint, or OneNote, the splash screen would appear and stay there and nothing will happen. I've tried "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office12\WINWORD.EXE" /a and it actually opens the program, but when I open up one of my word documents, it freezes the program. What can I do to fix this?

I visited a charity shop today and there looking at me was a copy of Office Home & Student 2007. It is in the normal cover and has an appropriate product key on the reverse of the packaging.
As I purchased a full copy last year, I have 2007 + 2010 update already installed on my two computers but I wonder whether there is any way of finding out whether today's copy is legitimate?

I don't want to try running it for fear it may do a "funny" on my system but can I discover whether its OK or not some way other than running it???

In other words, is there somewhere I can check the product key?

Many thanks all

Hi,
This Microsoft page lists activation enquiry phone numbers, the UK ones show as:
(44) (203) 147 4930
(0) (800) 018 8354.
http://www.microsoft.com/licensing/existing-customers/activation-centers.aspx

As you've probably spotted, most other methods involve installing then activating - best avoided 'til you've verified it's status as you've already stated.

Operating System is Windows 8.1...
Most times when I save a Word document, the software freezes and I have to close the program and recover the document. Is there a solution for this? I've had this computer for about 1 month and installed the Office software from a CD.

Hello, make sure that is the only version of Office on that machine, most new computers have a 60 day trial of Office 365 already installed. If that is the case, remove it and reboot the computer. If that is not the case, run a repair from the Office installer, or remove and reinstall (reboot in between)

HI,
I just bought Office Home and Student 2016 last August 7, 2016 from a mall in Long Island, NY. I tried to install it but it gave me a message:"The program can't start because api-ms-win-crt-runtime-l1-1-0.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem", whenever I click on Excel or Word.

I tried reinstalling it 6 x and no progress. I tried uninstalling and installing the program, the same message I got. I tried Windows 7 update but it seems there is none.

The old Excel and Word 7 were package installed in my laptop computer when I bought it from Best Buy in 2011. I bought the MS Office because I had a computer crash. My Toshiba laptop recovered a few of my files. Luckily I have a record of my anti-virus registration and I was able to reinstall it. Now I need MS Office to access some of my files in my USB.

Some recommendation I got was to temporarily disconnect the anti-virus or the firewall. I do not know how to do this. Someone please help me!

Please help me, I am not as computer literate as microsoft thinks I am.....
I have an HP PC with Vista Home Premium. It is 1.5 years old. I had sent it back to HP earlier this year and it came back reverted to factory condition. Since then, I can not install any software even that compatible with Vista. For instance, I just got MS Office home and student 2007 and it "encounters error during installation". I do not have any other version of Office on my computer. I do have Works, which I tried to uninstall, but it wouldn't come off. Also, there is power point viewer, that also won't uninstall. I followed every step to get around this, but I am hesitant to screw up my computer with my ignorance. I am running on an administer account after following prior instructions from a forum such as this. Can anyone help me??

I have looked everywhere in the spec/adverts/blurbs/hype to find out if Office 2007, in any of its versions, contains Sapi 6.1. I want Sapi 6.1 because I use TTS and STT a lot and have read/heard that 6.1 is significantly better at speech recognition than Sapi 5.1 that came with the pre-Office 2003 versions. References state that Office 2003 (Pro version definitely, maybe other versions as well) does contain Sapi 6.1, but have found no Sapi info, none at all, about any version of Office 2007.

I don't have the moolah or the need for the extra features of Office 2007 Pro, or Executive or whatever they call the top end version these days, but I would reluctantly fork out for Office 2007 Home & Student - IF and only IF it has Sapi 6.1.....

So, if you know, let me know, does Office 2007 Home & Student incorporate Sapi 6.1???

Or, another option: Since I would only be buying Office 2007 for Sapi 6.1, is it possible to obtain Sapi 6.1 in some way other than buying yet another piece of bloated M$ Office software? (I much prefer OpenOffice 2.2, and expect that I would continue using it almost all the time anyway, even if I did have a new version of Window$ Office.) However, M$ does not offer a Sapi 6.1 SDK download like it does 5.1. Not anywhere I can find, but if someone knows of a site to obtain it... that would work, too.

Thanks.

Rob
