ThinkCentre M710 Can't get into BIOS

Q: ThinkCentre M710 Can't get into BIOS

I have a ThinkCentre M710s running Windows 10 and I can't access the BIOS menu. I have tried using the F1 key, the F2 key, the F12 key, and the Windows troubleshooting menu. All of these methods have failed. When I reboot this machine, I don't even get a Lenovo splash screen. It just goes directly to Windows. Please help. Any advice that anyone has on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

We are imaging our computers in SCCM, we use the BIOS Scripts to take ownership of the TPM chips and to provision bitlocker.  This is working fine, its the final step in the process of adding our PIN to the bitlocker drive that fails.  The machine is giving an error "The BIOS did not correctly communicat with the Trusted Platform Module (TPM).  Contact the computer manufacturer for BIOS upgrade instructions." The machine is running the latest posted availalbe BIOS:  Bios revision level: M16KT32A Bios block revision level: 1.32  Bios Date: 5/3/2017 Machine type and model: 10M8S0HU00 The original configuration is an NVMe drive, in thought that this could be causing the issue, we removed this drive and placed a standard SATA hard drive in it and receive the same error.  As another test we put our windows 10 task sequence on it and it worked without issue. The only difference is that the Boot mode for Windows 7 to work with the NVMe is only available to the LEGACY.  The Boot mode for Windows 10 is using UEFI. I have attached 2 screenshots that show the error we receive in windows 7.  This command runs during the task sequence and fails, we tried it in the OS as well and receive the error. Please help ASAP, this is affecting our T470 model as well.  We need to certify these devices asap.

Hi all :-)

So I have bought a Lenovo thinkcentre M910s and wanted an extra harddrive.
The store I bought my M910s told me to buy following parts:
4XH0L08579       Lenovo ThinkStation M.2 SSD Adapter
WDS100T1B0B WD Blue PC SSD WDS100T1B0B - Solid State Drive - 1 TB

But it will not work? I have tried both PCIe 4x and 16x but the drive does not show up in bios or disk management. I have update bios.

Do I have the wrong adapter??

That SSD card has a SATA interface, you need PCIe.   Lenovo owners seem to prefer Samsung PCIe M.2 SSD cards (and is an oem supplier), you can search above for info on the different card models.

Hello All,I have just purchaced a ThinkCentre M710 Tower with the optional GeForce GT 730 upgrade for graphics. This video card produces no video even after having 2 technicians come out and replace 1) the motherboard and 2) the GeForce video card. I can get video from the onboard Intel graphics from both the VGA and DisplayPort connectors. Changing the BIOS to initate the PEG first makes no difference in video output except to remove the accessability of the BIOS from any port. Hi there, I recently bought a Lenovo Thinkcentre E73 SFF, which had Windows 10 installed in it. I decided that I wanted to installed Windows 7 instead of using Windows 10. I decided to go into the BIOS to change the boot priority so that my Windows 7 installation drive had priority over the pre-existing boot drive. In the process, I also recall disabling "Fast Boot", as the PC kept skipping the post screen every time I booted up. It continued to do that even when I was in Windows 10, but I've now got Windows 7 installed, but I cannot find any way to access the BIOS of the motherboard. Can anybody advise on how I'd go about getting into the motherboard BIOS? TLDR - I've installed Windows 7 in place of Windows 10, but I cannot get into the BIOS as the computer is forever skipping the post screen on bootup. Does anybody know about how I'd be able to get into the motherboard BIOS? Thanks in advance!P.S. I wish you all a Merry Christmas!!!

Hi....... I am hoping that someone may be able to pint me in the right direction.   I have an old IBM Thinkcentre..... I am not sure which exact model it is.  Used to use it in my home office, but moved it out to the entertainment center ages ago and basically use it as a "jukebox" that I have stored all my music into and feed my audio system.  I run nothing else, and it worked fine doing this for years.  Anyway, with a recent update in iTunes, I now am experiencing issues playing back music, as I never have before.   I populated the main board with 4GB of RAM, but when I check in system information...... although it states 4GB installed, it only chows 2.25GB in "total physical memory". I have tried everything I could to increase performance of the resources I have..... disabled what was unnecessary and turned off everything that does not absolutely need to run in the background, but have only improved things a bit.  In doing some research, it was suggested that a  BIOS update "may" allow me to go beyond the RAM limitations of my system.  I figured I would try this out before bagging it and just investing in a new computer. Anyway, I have attached a snapshot of my system configuration.  Can anyone help me find a later version of BIOS?  I have tried searching for it myself, but everything points me back to the Lenovo site, were I cannot find anything.  When I plug in my serial number, it does not find a... I have a ThinkCentre E63z 10D4 model all-in-one.  I attempted to update the BIOS using the Flash UEFI BIOS update (Flash from operating system version).  This seems to have failed spectacularly, as the computer will no longer boot.  It will power on, show the Lenovo splash screen, go to a black screen, then reboot endlessly like this.  I have tried following every guide there is to recover this thing.  I have tried making a USB disk and booting from it, but it seems that USB devices aren't even being initialized during POST.  No lights come on the keyboard at all, and no input seems to work.  I have tried F1, F2, F12, holding down the function key while trying these, and absolutely nothing changes.  I got so desperate that I pulled a CD drive out of another computer and held the thing together with it plugged into the HDD SATA connector on the main board - no dice there either.  Won't even spin up the disk. What am I doing wrong?  How can I recover the BIOS on this thing?  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello there, I have (for the first time) a problem with my Lenovo ThinkCentre E73. I recently updated the BIOS (it was one of the initial versions and had some issues) to the latest version. I use a KVM (Keyboard Video Mouse) switch. This KVM switch has some USB inputs (for keyboard, mouse, USB stick or whatever) and the USB part is based on a (switchable) USB HUB. But when i connect my USB keyboard to this HUB, the Lenovo BIOS doesn't recognize it (keyboard does'nt work, and the Lenovo shows error 0211, no keyboard connected. The KVM itself isn't faulty, in Windows everything worked fine. Also the previous used BIOS version has no problems with the KVM and works fine also. There where no changes made in the hardware setup. When i plug my keyboard directly into the Lenovo the BIOS recognized it. When i use a simple (non powered) USB hub and plug my keyboard in, the BIOS doesn't detect is again. So it looks like the new BIOS has some issues with USB hubs. Not only my keyboard would be detected, also USB memory sticks are not visible by the boot manager. Can anybody help me, or can Lenovo made a change to the new BIOS version so i can use my KVM again into the BIOS? Thank you!

Dear Lenovo ThinkCentre Team, please let me share my deep frustration about you inability to provide a proper Firmware Update routine, even after several years into the Windows 10 era. How hard can it be to sign your filter drivers with valid certificates that did not expire 2 years ago with an obsolete SHA1 routine? You might think that those certificates don't matter, but yes they do, if you have HVCI and credential guard activated. In this case you will be unable to install the firmware update and if you are really lucky you will also get a nice blue screen as reward. Funny enough, you have already a working solution. The firmware updates published in the Microsoft Update Catalog. Unfortuantely they are all outdated. Ok, thank you for listening to my pre-weekend rant ... and get your act together! Peter

I need some help, I have a Lenovo ThinkCentre A55 9636 Desktop, and I need to boot off a CD but when I insert the CD in the CD/DVD-ROM and restart, it won't boot of the CD, it doesn't even give a message at startup to change the boot sequence (like press F2 for boot) or something like that. any help would be greatly appreciated.

thanks,

from the "Hello,
I have been trying to add our company's asset tag numbers to some of our m73 ThinkCentre desktops.
The Model Number is S0JV00
BIOS Version is Lenovo FCKT80AUS
Operating System is Windows 10

I recently updated the BIOS to the current version it is now, like I was recomended from the "Help us help you" thread.
"A surprising number of problems are solved by updating the BIOS."
However, after the update, the asset tag option is still greyed out.  I have tried using the CFGWIN.exe comand that came with the FCJW80USA download, like Lenovo recommended but I keep getting
Error: "Enumerate Lenovo_BiosSetting failed. Error Code = 0c80041003"

I also tried AFUWINGUI to try and save the BIOS settings, and then edit them to then re-flash with the updated asset information if that was possible but when I try to open the saved bios file, it opens in wordpad and looks like it is encrypted.

Some sort of step by step process would be the most help, naturally.
This has just been such a hassle.  If there are anymore info that could help, I would be happy to add it.

Thank you in advance.

So I'm looking to Flash the BIOS on the M910t models for use in Enterprise deployment but can't for the life of me find any documentation on the process. Does the m1ajy36usa.exe executable have silent switches or is there a reliable and preferably nonfrustrating way to set this up? Thank you!

Hi Lenovo Community, a have an M910q 10MV0012US Tiny. I'm trying to clone an existing OS on an NVMe M.2 SSD to an M.2 SATA SSD (Lenovo PN 00JT082), it appears to reimage successfully to the drive which is showing in the software. However, the drive isn't showing up as a boot option in the BIOS and I can't boot from the SSD. So then I tried reinstalling Windows 10 fresh on it, and it looks like it installed ok and does appear in Windows installation media, but again, can't boot from it. Now, I did read on a forum topic for (I think) a M710, that it only supports NVMe drives and not M.2 SATA. Wondering if it is the same with the M910 desktop. Am I correct in this case, does it not support bootable M.2 SATA drives? If so, let me know. Thanks!
