HELP Yoga 260 or Yoga 900?

Q: HELP Yoga 260 or Yoga 900?

Hi, I was hoping I could find some help/advice on which laptop to get for my studies. I am doing a masters in business so don't need the laptop for photo/ video editing etc. Mainly for excel, reading and taking lecture notes, research and writing essays. I have narrowed it down to Yoga 260 & Yoga 900. I like that they are both hybrids and easy to transport. I was hoping someone could explain the main differences between these two and which one you would suggest for what I will be using it for. I was looking at the:- Yoga 260 12.5" i7-6500U, 2.5 / 3.1 GHz- Yoga 900 13 2.6GHz i7-6600U 13.3" 3200 x 1800pixels TouchscreenThank you

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I am a very frustrated and angry customer at the moment as i keep running into Road Block and unacceptable answers.  This issue is enough to cause me to never buy another Lenovo laptop or any laptop at Best Buy!I bought my computer in July and in September i noticed a key had popped off-  the "< ," key next to the M key.  I have used the key board only when i was setting up-  now at my office and at customers i set it in downward dog mode ;-) and use a blue tooth key board.    So it is not from use that it broke.   I took the laptop into BEST BUY and was told that the key was missing a metal part on the back so they could not fix it onsite-  i would have to send it in and be without my laptop for a week to 10 days - unacceptable -  this was a month or more ago. I searched on the LENOVO website and could not find a way to purchase a single or the entire set of Keys!  I am self employed as a software consultant.   My life is pretty busy and i finally decided today to bite the bullet and ask for a call from Lenovo support.  Again i am told the only way to fix this is to send my laptop in for a repair.  I asked to just be able to buy a KEY - i am told that well they do not sell individual keys - they would replace the entire keyboard!  So sell me the keyboard and or send me one an i will take into best buy to have them replace it while i wait.  They cannot do that.   I live... I recently did a Windows 10 update to my Lenovo Yoge Ideapad  11 S on July 16th and now my touch screen does not work. When I check the drivers for my monitor and touch screen I noticed the driver was missing. I cannot get Lenovo or Microsoft to fix this. What else can I do to get that driver back ?

Hello Dws520Thanks for using the Lenovo forums. Was this the creators update?
If so, have a look on the following post, this should show if your device has been tested with the update yet:
https://support.lenovo.com/gb/en/solutions/ht503655

From what I can see, your unit does not seems to have made the list, which leads me to believe that this will be the cause of the issue, I would recommend that you revert back to the previous version of Windows, and observe if the fault still occurs or not.

Hope this helps, let us know how you get on.==================================================================================Did someone help you today? Thank them with a Kudo! If you find a post helpful and it answers your question, please mark it as an "Accepted Solution"!

Disclaimer: I received the Yoga 920 as a review loaner unit from Lenovo. All opinions are my own, nobody is paying for my review, and no one is reviewing this content before it's posted.

Left: Yoga 920 in Bronze. Right: Yoga 910 in Silver

On the surface, both the Yoga 910 and Yoga 920 look nearly identical, but in my testing, I prefer one over the other. Let's dig deeper to see the differences between the two!To get this out of the way, both machines have 1TB PCIe storage, 16GB memory, and the Yoga 910 has the 7th gen i7-7550U processor, and the Yoga 920 has the 8th gen i7-8550U processor.

Hardware & Design
Both the Yoga 910 and Yoga 920 are built out of aluminum, which gives them a high quality feel to them.  Both laptops have the keyboard integrated into the chassis, which means less keyboard flex. One thing that I find better in the Yoga 920 is the fact that it's all smooth edges around.  The Yoga 910 has pretty sharp edges which means you could scratch your surface or yourself.  The sharp edges of the Yoga 910 was a common complaint, and I'm glad they rectified it.

The Yoga 920 also has a little slit on the display lid that makes it much easier to open the lap... Read more

Hello All, I have an issue with my YOGA 700 laptop when logged in multiple accounts simultaneously. Whenever an account is left logged on and the user is switched as opposed to logging off, the cpu usage ramps up very high with several RUNDLL32 processes being the culprit. I have checked the RUNDLL32 processes with Process Explorer and the command line are as follows:C:\Windows\system32\rundll32.exe C:\ProgramData\LenovoTransition\Server\x64\EnableAutoRotation.dll,RunCustomMonitor The directory is as follows: C:\ProgramData\LenovoTransition\Server\x64\ The only solution I have found is restarting the laptop. The problems comes back when again more than one user is logged in. Also, the rundll32 processes only run high cpu on one account at a time and there doesn't seem to be a preference for a specific account, all of them are plagued one at a time with the problem. Disabling the Yoga Mode Control service is a fix but that breaks the mode control which is essential in this laptop. I have tried installing all the available software on the Software page foor the YOGA 700. The rundll32 processes drain the battery very fast and I can't always log off other users when they have apps open!  I have posted a screenshot of process explorer showing 2 rundll32.exe processes using 25% cpu usage each. However, sometimes up to 4 rundll32.exe processes open up and they use combined 100% cpu usage, which makes the laptop run very hot and slow. In t... Read more

I've been looking around and found a few people who are very displeased with the logo startup/boot logo (example1, example2), but no way to change it as of yet. Is it possible without too much hassle? I know it's not a big deal but the logo is simply terrible in so many ways. If nothing, then at least I'm raising awareness and maybe Lenovo will choose a better graphic designer for our collective startup screens. I mean, seriously? Is that the best you could come up with?

I do not know of any way to easily change it without hackging the BIOS, nor would I waste time trying to do so since it is just the boot logo, and I am just happy to have it boot up.

Hey. I bought my Yoga 520-14IKB (Intel Core i5, 8GB RAM, 256gb NVMe SSD, GeForce 940MX) 2 month ago, had no problems, till last week. Now sometimes i experience such a strange behaviour. Mainly i work on my laptop in normal mode, and sometimes, during such work, it can false trigger a tablet mode for a few (2-3) seconds (notification appers), which causes the keyboard to switch off for this time, despite the fact, that it still stands as a normal laptop, not even close to position, which triggers the yoga mode. How can i fix this? System is Windows 10 April 2018 Update, have all the latest drivers and latest version of BIOS.

I have a S3 Yoga 14 with i5-4210U Haswell CPU & GeForce 840M (Model# 20DM000VUS). I've searched and searched for any solution to upgrade the memory to 16GB, but seems only the Broadwell version can...so I'm stuck with 8GB.  I already upgraded to a 1TB Evo 850 SSD which did boost overall speed a lot, but running out of memory all the time is driving me nuts. So my question is, is it possible to swap out the whole motherboard to a i5-5200U Broadwell version without any HW/SW conflict issues so I could upgrade to 16GB?  Or can you only swap for the exact same MB?  It'd be a lot cheaper than buying a whole new Yoga w/dedicated graphics such as the P40 and way less hassle as long as I wouldn't need to reinstall Windows and everything. Thanks!

I have two staff members with different Yoga models, but with the same pen issue. Say, for instance, OneNote is open. The pen doesn't draw or write, but it can select and still be recognized. When I try using an old stylus from an HP Elitebook, it works TOTALLY fine - even the button on the pen functions properly. This suddenly started after months of the Lenovo pens working fine. I thought maybe it was a driver issue, but it can't be as the HP pen works.... I'm thinking it's the pen itself just getting worn down? It looks okay though but may be just a little loose... Any help / direction would be greatly appreciated!

Disclosure:  I received these laptops from Lenovo as part of their advocacy program, so huge thanks to the folks over at Lenovo. I don't receive compensation for my review, and as always, all opinions are my own.

The ThinkPad X1 Yoga is first modern ThinkPad that I've ever owned.  I?ve been using Lenovo?s Ideapad lineup for a very long time, and while I?ve used ThinkPads in the past, the X1 Yoga will be my first personal ThinkPad that I own.  So how does it stack up to the Yoga 910?  Let?s find out! I have the i7 UHD model of the Yoga 910 and the i5 FHD model of the ThinkPad X1 Yoga.  I tried out the latest Yoga 920, but I haven?t tried the latest X1 Yoga yet? hopefully, I will!

Hardware & Design
Even though both laptops carry ?yoga? in their name, the hardware behind them is vastly different.  The ThinkPad X1 Yoga has the classic ThinkPad black design, which is made of a carbon-fiber hybrid for the top cover and a magnesium-PPS hybrid for the bottom cover.  The Yoga 910 has a similar design from the Lenovo?s Yoga lineup, with an aluminum build throughout.

The ThinkPad only comes in two colors: classic black and silver; whereas the Yoga has a whole suite of colors to choose from, such as silver, copper, bronze, and even a few exclusive designs, such as the Vibe designs for the Yoga 920 and the Star Wars themed designs for the Yoga 910.

New year, new Yogas. How does Lenovo?s Yoga 910 stack up against last year?s Yoga 900? Let?s find out.Hardware & Design The Yoga 910 looks very similar to the Yoga 900. They both have the same dimensions, which means that my sleeve for the Yoga 900 fits the Yoga 910 perfectly. The Yoga 910 is a bit heavier because of its all-metal unibody design. Last year?s Yoga 900 had a magnesium alloy casing, and a rubber-like material inside the chassis. With the Yoga 910, the entire chassis is metal. That gives it a more premium look and feel.  Even though the hinges on the Yoga 900 and Yoga 910 look nearly identical, the Yoga 910?s hinges are much more sturdier than the Yoga 900?s. This means that there?s less wobble when typing on the keyboard or touching the screen. Take a look at the difference:  There?s also the addition of a fingerprint reader, which is always great to have. It?s quick and responsive, and always recognized my fingerprint. PortsThis year?s Yoga 910 is focused mainly on USB C. There are two USB C ports, one USB A port, and a headphone/microphone jack combo. Last year?s Yoga 900 had two USB A ports, one USB C, SD card reader, and mini-HDMI. Because of the move to USB C, you?ll need a USB C to SD card reader or USB C to HDMI adapter if you?re looking for those functionalities.   DisplayThe Yoga 910?s display is larger, crispier, and brighter than last year?s display. Even though both ... Read more

Just curious, why is the new Thinkpad X1 Yoga I7, 16 GB RAM, 1 TB SSD, FHD about $1,000 more than the similarly equipped commercial Lenovo 910?

Is it the ThinkPad brand name? The eraser nubbin? The 2 combined?

Just curious.

I've got a friend who needs a new laptop. She likes the touch/fold aspect of my 1st gen Thinkpad X1 Yoga. Do you all think she would be happy with the commercial Yoga 910?

Any real reason to get the new plain FHD ThinkPad X1 Yoga instead of the similarly equipped commercial Yoga available at Best Buy besides spending an extra $1000 for the ThinkPad brand name?

I've owned 6 various ThinkPads since 2011 FWIW. I get it, they're cream of the crop. But I kinda got sticker shock when I just priced out a plain FHD (and we need nothing more) X1 Yoga. About  $2,800, wow!

A:Why is the ThinkPad X1 Yoga $1,000 more than a similar Yoga 910?

@Jelks, The biggest difference I see between the X1 Yoga (2nd) and the Yoga 910 is active pen support which seems to be missing from the 910. You could use a capacitive stylus, but expect fingertip resolution, not pinpoint, and no pressure-sensitivity. Fewer USB ports: no HDMI or MicroSD; no Thunderbolt. No TPM module, if you need to store encrypted creditials, e.g., for BitLocker. Not sure about battery life; they claim up to 9 hours of local video for the 910 vs. up to 15 of MobileMark for the X1. Not an apple-to-apple comparison. You're not going to get the (soon to be patched, at least for now) security hole that is Intel's vPro management tech. You may not get Windows 10 Pro, possibly just Home (but you could always give Microsoft the money to upgrade if you need BitLocker or Remote Access). You're not going to get all the "mil-spec" design and testing etc, but if it's a personal machine, you're probably going to avoid abusing it. As you suggest, the "wave" keyboard -- including the trackpoint "eraser nubbin" -- is definitely going to be more expensive on the ThinkPad than the plain Yoga keyboard. I used two generations of ThinkPads (T61p and W520), but about 3 years ago I switched to a Dell XPS 13. A year or so ago, I ordered a X1 Yoga 1st gen for my wife and she likes it very much, so I am pretty familiar with the design and capabilities. TLDR: I think most people would be happy with the 910 vs. X1 unless they want the active pen. Als... So three weeks ago, I was working on my Yoga 3 14" and popped to get a drink, I came back and the screen was blank, I assumed it had gone to sleep, so hit a key to wake it up. Nothing! The laptop was plugged in, so I know it hadn't run out of charge. After sheer panic, I contacted Lenovo, who told me that my warranty was out by a month, and that I could send it to them to diagnose, and they would tell me how much to fix, then it was up to me if they did or not.One I wouldn't be happy about not having my laptop for a couple of weeks minimum, but also it had all my private information on.I turned to good old google, and stumbled across this forum, and somebody with the same problem.Their solution was to unscrew the back case of the laptop (as mentioned above, my warranty was already out), remove the battery cable, hold down the power button for 30 seconds and reconnect the battery cable.I did this, and low and behold it worked. Fantastic!Only for it to happen twice more that week, and approx twice a week since. Then yesterday my brother contacts me saying his laptop has died, just won't turn on. His is the Yoga 2 Pro, I told him to bring it to mine, and I would try what I had to do to mine, to his, low and behold, the same solution worked. Seeing as I wasn't the first person to have this issue, and I'm guessing others have used the solution but not commented, this is obviously a fault with the Yoga range. I'm hoping that Lenovo can address this issue, as I fe... Hello, we got 2x Try-and-Buy Lenovo Yoga Tablet Laptops (an X1 Yoga and a Yoga 260) to evaluate their suitability for our company, since we intend to upgrade several of our employees laptops. However, ever since we got the devices we noticed on both of them frequent issues with the display and waking from sleep. Very often the laptops won't wake up properly with the screen staying black. In those cases the display-backlight seems to turn on, and I assume the system is running somehow in the background. Putting the computer to sleep again (e.g. by closing the lid) makes the computer wake up properly on the second attempt. Different error in the same category is when a video is running and the laptop is connected to AC - plugging out the AC cord made the screen go black while the media content's sound kept playing. All drivers were updated to the newest version via Lenovo System Update 5.07.0029. Any ideas? I also tried to open a support ticket, but Lenovo wanted to send and install a new display (!). Apparently, that seems like a driver/software issue?! Best regards

I love the Lenovo Yoga series notebook and is considering getting either Yoga 710 or Yoga 900. My question is:1. What is the new features or updates on Yoga 710 from the previous Yoga 700?2. From the specifications and price stated below, which one is more worthy and which is better in terms of what? Pros and Cons would be nice.3. I have seen some extreme reviews on both Yoga 710 and Yoga 900 regarding user's problem. Is there anything else I should know about these two models before consider buying it?4. I am especially concern about the graphic quality. In terms of specifications, Yoga 900 should be better from its QHD feature. However, I have seen reviews saying the Yoga 710 graphic is better than Yoga 900. What's the verdict on this?5. If I buy the model from Lenovo, will I be able to customize the specifications by myself- upgrades. Thank you in advance for your replies! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Lenovo YOGA 710 Convertible Laptop, Intel Core i7, 8GB RAM, 256GB SSD, 14" Full HD, BlackPrice: 799.95 Battery lifeUp to 8 hours Bluetooth Enabled Yes - 4.0 Brand Lenovo Camera (front-facing) 720p webcam DimensionsH1.73 x W32.2 x D22.3cm Graphics card Intel HD Graphics 520 Graphics card typeShared Hard drive256GB NGFF Hard DriveModel SSD or Flash Storage KeyboardBacklit Accutype keyboard Manufacturer Part... HiI am used to T420, 450 laptops, and looking for Yoga with similar easy type keyboard (good key travel, less actuation force) and easy on eyes screen anti-glare/matte.  Looks like they don't make matte displays now. Is the keyboard on X1 yoga and its anti-glare comparable or should I get thinkpad yoga 460 (that is a pound+ heavier). Also how does a anti-glare screen protector compare with display already built with anti-glare. If the X1 yoga anti-glare is not sufficient, should I then add this 3rd party screen? Thanks

I am hhaving difficulty finding an acceptable scaling mix between resolution, system scaling, and edge scaling. At 1080p, 125%, 125%, os navigation is mostly fine, but edge text is way too large. At 1080p, 125%, 100%, edge text is way too small. At all combinations text is inflated (but crisp) in certain elements while fuzzy in others. What scaling combinations work best for you? I am considering returning this to Best Buy and upgrading to a Pro 4 / Book, or even a Mac. The scaling is ruining an otherwise great experience.

Hello, Which third party SSD's could be installed in the new Yoga 700-14ISK? Is a 2.5 inch 7mm SSd compatible? or only 5mm is supported? Thanks

A:Yoga 700 SSD

5mm SSD's aren't that easy to find, especially in 512GB or 1TB sizes. I think i'm going to buy a Yoga 700 aswell and get a 512GB mSATA with an adapter instead of trying to squeze a 7mm in there

is it normal for my yoga720 to get hot while charging?

A:yoga 720 getting hot

That would depend on how "hot" you are referring to.   It is normal for the battery to get warm while charging, but it should not get extremely hot, as in too hot to be uncomfortable to touch.    Are your case fans working and all the vents clean an not obstructed?

I am about to receive a Yoga 900 and am perplexed about one feature: It says it is a multi-touch. Doesn't that generally mean pen input as well? (Multi-touch meaning finger touch as well a pen touch) At my local Best Buy, the Yoga 900 was explained as coming in 2 configurations, one with an option to use a pen, and one without (that was written on the spec tag as well). They also explained that such a pen needs to be purchased through Lenovo directly. I can't see anything on the Lenovo website. Can anyone shed some light on this?

A:Yoga 900 Pen

Good day and welcome to the community.

"Multi-touch" means multiple finger touch, for things like two-finger scrolling and other multi-finger gestures in Windows. In my experience, machines that offer pen capability will be described as "pen-abled" or sometimes "multi-touch + pen", if so equipped.

Regards.

Does it have a fan? Because I don't hear one coming on.  I have upgraded to Windows 10 if that makes a difference. Many thanks!
