I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I am attempting to share files on a web server with counterparts in India and China. I have made password protected folder for each group so they have access to the files they need. This would definately streamline and eliminate having to email the files to them (as many are over 10mb which is the max for email) or worse mail copies of the files via FedEx.

The problem is, they say they cannot access the files. I tried to see if the username/password was the issue, but they simply say they cannot access the site at all.

Is it possible that for some reason my server is not accessible from that region? The server is based in the UK. I am using server supremeserver45.com which hosts my site docs.funboxers.com. Any way to find out if it is a regional problem, of if they are just technologically challenged?

If it is the region, we would definately find a new server, but how do we ensure this server will be accessible?

Thanks in advance.

No battery available for Lenovo Ideapad 510 bought 14 months back. Service Centres in India and neither the Lenovo India Management have any clue or ETA about the battery availability or its pricing as confirmed by them. Few other Lenovo exclusive charging or rather black marketing with different high prices with various warranties for those batteries. They do not have any uniform pricing patterns which raises issues on its authenticity.
Feel cheated and deceived for putting trust in such a company leaving aside other brands like Dell and HP.

Had a call last night, strong Indian accent I could barely understand, claimed that he represented "Windows" and that someone was using my computer without my knowledge. He knew my name complete with middle name. I hung up. Now I am thinking that someone was trying to initiate a scam, perhaps hoping to get passwords or other data. Anyone else know about this? Hi, new to the forum. Recently purchased a Lenovo Yoga 13" in China which came pre-installed with Windows 8 PRC. Apparently this is a single language only edition. Trying desperately to find some sort of language pack or "fix" in order to be able to use the system effectively. Does anybody know of a way to change the language?

Alternatively, do you think waiting for Windows 8.1 and upgrading will solve the issue?

A:Windows 8 China PRC edition

Hi Pepys and welcome to Eightforums,

if it is a single language edition only there is no legal way to change the language pack. So I can't give you any advice there.

You might want to try contacting Lenovo. See if they can help you out.

Failing to repair my old Dell, I bought a Lenova laptop with XP Professional here in China. Unfortunately, the only guaranteed method for getting Windows in English is to buy an original CD, which is 1,900 RMB (187 GBP). That's far too expensive for me. However a friend says he may be able to install Windows 7 Ultimate, to which a language packed can be added that allows the language to be English.

But he hasn't tried it before and isn't sure it will work. Does anyone know about this?

A:English-Language Windows in China?

Windows 7 costs just as much as WinXP, and you would also need a license key.

There are other operating systems that are "free", such as Linux, which may be a better option if you are looking to save money.

Do You Know: China has planned to eliminate all foreign Technologies and Services by 2020, just like Google and Facebook.
And it seems China in some years would be an entirely independent IT economy; building homegrown Mobile and computer devices, Operating Systems, Applications, Browsers and almost everything existing in the IT ecosystem.
Well, China was not at all happy when Microsoft finally announced the end of official support for Windows XP. At the time, Windows holded 91% of total market share, compared to just for Mac OS X and just 1% for Linux.
However, China wasn't interested to pay either for extended support for Windows XP or for switching to Windows 8. So, they decided to develop their own Operating System.
Yes, China has developed a Desktop Operating System named ?NeoKylin? (and ?Kylin? in Chinese), tagged as a substitute to Windows XP by Quartz, who got an opportunity to have a hands-on experience of its ?community version? OS.
NeoKylin is developed by Shanghai-based China Standard Software Company and already running on more than 40% of commercial units sold in the country by Dell.

So I decided to buy Windows 7 from eBay. I didn't trust the people selling product keys only, so I purchased a brand new retail package. When I shop on eBay, I always look for sellers that are really close to me so shipping is fast. So I found a seller, said to be located in Maryland (which is two states away from me), with a great price and great feedback for his W7 sells. I was pissed because when the guy sent me the tracking number, I found out that the item was coming from Beijing, China, not Maryland! But I figured, well at least he shipped it.

THEN, I get an email from eBay saying the listing for the item I just purchased because the copyright holder reported that the item may be a counterfeit. At first I was pissed at eBay because now I had to record of the transaction in my eBay account and could not contact the seller directly from within the item invoice, since eBay deleted. Plus, he had several other sells of this same item, all with positive feedback of the W7 package, and eBay did not remove the listings for them. So I was like, why me? Luckily, I had his email from paypal and contacted him. He assured me that he is the legal owner of the item and that he sent proof to eBay saying so. Still never got my records back.

Anyway, this prompted me to search counterfeit Windows 7 retail packages. I found some interesting info, but my package doesn't fit any of the counterfeit profiles Microsoft says to look out for. The top hologram is built onto the ... Read more

Since yesterday morning I've been getting the message "Windows 7 Build 7601 This Copy of Windows is Not Genuine" on my HP Pavilion Elite desktop computer, which I purchased in 2012.

I called Microsoft and they said that HP was blocking my copy. I then called HP, and they said they don't do that. I then explained to HP what happened. They thought it might be a virus that was the cause. I explained that I had a backup hard drive (a duplicate of the date and OS image, etc. from a month ago) and the same problem error popped up when I used that one. They said it might have been a "virus bomb" that's been on the system for months and set to go off on a date. It could also be in the BIOS.

I ran an Adaware scan and a MalewareBytes scan. Both of them found some malware that has been removed, but the problem remains. I'm currently running "Microsoft Safety Scanner".

Does anyone know how I can fix this problem? Are there any well known viruses or maleware that are known to cause this issue?

Additional, about a month ago I had the motherboard replaced by a professional computer company. The other motherboard was damaged due to a power surge, possibly. The replacement was not an upgrade. But that was a month ago, and everything was working fine until yesterday.

I ran MGADiag.exe. Here is the code:

Hello Daniel, and welcome to Eight Forums.

The product key number is good for both 32-bit and 64-bit versions, but you can of course only have one activated at the same time.

You would need to do a clean install to the 64-bit though.

I have a Windows 7 64 bit Ultimate trial which is about to run out. I have been receiving all the Windows updates as per normal so its a fully functional version of Windows. I have now purchased the official Windows 7 64 bit Ultimate dvd from a computer supplier, but to save cash I have purchased the OEM version. My questions is simply whether I will be able to use this OEM product key to activate my windows 7 trial as both are 64 bit Ultimate. The version currently running is a vanilla Win 7 64 bit trial, not an OEM version. This is urgent as I have 4 days left of my trial and I am concerned if I open the packaging of the OEM DVD and it does not work then I will not be able to return it as the packaging will be opened. Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

A:Activate Windows 7 Trial with purchased OEM Product Key

if there was another operating system on the computer before you installed the ultimate trial then you are not eligible for oem. win7 oem is only for a newly built computer that never had an operating system installed.

Windows 7 RC1 7100 64bit / Vista Ultimate 64bit

I did a clean installation of RC1 7100 months ago on my empty H: drive, runs flawlessly. I dual boot with Vista which is on my C: drive, hardly ever go there :-)

To install the purchased version in October, I assume I can;

1) Replace the old C: drive with a new empty drive.

2) Start up by booting on the Windows 7 DVD, and the process will format the new drive, install Windows 7, and name the drive 'C:'

Am I correct? Advice on doing this transition properly will be much appreciated!

I recently purchased and installed HP's Windows 7 Recovery Media (USB version).  The install seemed to go well, but at the end I got the message:"Contact HP SupportWindows cannot find F:\System.sav\Util\RStone.exe.  Make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again." Since the computer is not at a command prompt, but rather at the end of a recovery, I selected Finish, and the computer turns off.  I then restarted, with the recovery USB installed, and it took me back to the beginning of the Recovery process, which I tried again, but got the same result.  On the next start up, I tried without the recovery USB installed.  The Windows startup begins, everything looks fine, then the HP Recovery Manager comes up and tells me the HP recovery is complete, press Finish to restart.  So I press finish, the computer restarts and now I get the following screen: BOOTMRG is missing, press Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart And that is where I'm stuck.  I've read a bit about this error message and can't figure out a solution.  I will say that I've run several system checks and all the memory and hardware has been operating completely fine.   Would really appreciate some help.  I haven't been able to get a live person from HP to help which is frustrating having just spent $30 on the recover media which didn't work.

But my internet performance is often terrible.  As though I'm downloading a large file while surfing the internet. Third, I can't perform windows update. I'm kind of thinking... Read more

My current state:
I ordered a laptop from DELL about 6 months ago that came with Windows 8.1 Pro on it. Since it was ordered from DELL I do not have access to my Windows 8.1 Pro Product Key. I recently downloaded the windows 10 upgrade tool from Microsoft's website and went through all of the steps. Since this was the first time I figured it would be best to upgrade to windows 10 keeping all of my apps and files. This upgrade was 100% successful. I am also assuming that my windows product key is not in Microsoft's database as a valid Windows 10 Pro key.

My future goal:
Now my goal is to do a 100% clean wipe and install of windows 10 on this PC. This is the process I want to follow but I am scared to attempt it without confirmation/help from others.

Burn a Windows 10 Pro 64-bit DVD using the ISO available on Microsoft's website.Boot from the DVD using UEFIGo into advanced and completely wipe every single partition. Even the recovery partitions that DELL sets up since I won't be needing them anymore. (NOTE: I will never go back to Windows 8.1).Install windows on the Unparitioned Space and let it do its thing. I am assuming it will install with the new partition types.HERE IS THE STEP I AM SCARED ABOUT: When installing I am assuming it will ask me to enter a product key which I do not have. I am hoping since Microsoft recently made the process easier that it will see that I have a Product Key injected into my motherboard by dell and automatically use it. Can anyone confirm thi... A:Clean install of Windows 10 on a laptop purchased from DELL

You can easily get your key with this Solved Showkey - Windows 10 Forums just to be safe before you start.

It should not ask you when you install (you are right it will get it from BIOS) but if it does you can either enter your 8.1 key, or press "Skip" or "I don't have a key" and it will activate automatically anyway as your hardware ID is already stored on MS servers.

I (and many people here) have upgraded and then clean installed and it works fine as long as you install the correct version (i.e. you install 10 Pro if you had 8.1 Pro and you don't try to install 10 Home).

A newly purchased monitor HP W2082a won't work with Windows 10. First, the monitor says it is scanning DVI, thenVGA. It can't find a signal, so it goes to sleep. It also says the default is DVI, but I can't find a DVI connection on my ASUS G750 laptop. Could the problem be related to my inability to get NVIDIA GeForce GTX 870M to install correctly?

How are you plugging the monitor in if you don't have a dvi connection?  Vga to dvi adapter?  Also go to nvidias website and download geforce experience run it and follow the on screen instructions to update your gpu drivers.

Bought this laptop a few months ago from a coworker who i cant get in touch with to help with the problem im having. I do not have the OEM Vista key because the COA sticker is damaged and I didnt receive any of the packaging or paperwork from either the laptop or the 7 upgrade when i purchased the computer. After an update windows said it wasnt genuine. I have run sfc \ scannow and windows found a few corrupt files but succesfully repaired them. still having validation issues. Is there anything i can do besides contact HP for an OEM vista restore disk or purchasing a new Product Key for windows?

Hi 7forums!

Here are my specs:

Toshiba P775-S7215 core i7

Is Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit, came installed with the laptop - no disk, ie OEM

I just bought it from Newegg.com. It's a refurbished machine and came with no documents or disks. When this first started happening I did a repair install or whatever it is you can select after pressing F2 on boot. Then I bought a 30-day license for DriverMax and updated the drivers. And did a Windows Update, etc.

I read somewhere today that Norton could cause it so I uninstalled it (wasn't full version anyway). But it's still happening.

I've attached a zip file containing the health report and the contents of Windows_NT6_BSOD_jcgriff2. Let me know if I messed it up and I will redo.

Thanks, in advance, if anyone can help.

I've got a couple of weeks left to the 30 day warranty from Newegg. If it's just a matter of fixing a few bugs then I'd rather do that then return it and maybe end up with something worse. Newegg only has a replacement policy for the machine.

We have a number of Optiplex 3040 units that we purchased from DELL. These have been downgraded to Windows 7 SP1 using the Windows 10 downgrade licensing from DELL. They have the DELL factory Windows 7 Pro SP1 image on them. When trying to activate Windows, the activation fails. We pulled the OEM KEY from Windows and SMBIOS and had it checked on Microsoft site and there is a problem with the key according to Microsoft. We have tried DELL level 1 support who then transfered us to a REC tech for higher level support but communication with this Resolution Expert Center analyst has been awful.  I have seen very similar issues in this forum but have not seen a resolution. I purchased a Vostro 3500 with Windows 7 Pro downgraded to XP pro back in 2010.  It still runs well and I would like to keep using it as a spare laptop.  How do I revert back to Windows 7 pro (there is a Windows7 pro label with keys under the battery compartment), without any discs as they didn't come with the notebook?
Once upgraded to Windows 7, will I still be able to get the free upgrade to Windows 10?  Is the system capable of a windows 10 install/upgrade? Below are the system specs:

Intel® Core™ i5-520M (2.40GHz base, up to 2.93GHz, 2C/4T, 3MB L3)

4GB (2X2G) DDR3-1066MHz SDRAM, 2 DIMM

Hard Drive

500GB Hard Drive, 7200 RPM

Video Card

Vostro 3500 NVIDIA® Geforce™ 310M, 512MB Graphics

I know there are some posts related to my question, but all say to re-install from CD/DVD which I don't have.  I have searched everywhere but have not been able to find a solution specific to my situation so would be very grateful to anyone who can help.

A:Vostro 3500 purchased with windows 7 pro downgraded to XP pro - how to revert back

Upgrade your Legacy BIOS to the latest version.
Then you can directly clean install Windows 10 Pro with the Windows 7 Pro Product Key. There were some issues with the Nvidia Geforce 310M and Windows 10 but I think these have been resolved by Microsoft in later Windows 10 builds.
Windows 10 RS2 Installation Media is available for download from Microsoft. Since you have another computer to hand (running Windows 7 or later) I would use this computer to make the Bootable USB (set it up for a Legacy BIOS):

Hello, I am looking forward to buy a Hp 22es Display from Amazon.in. The seller is Cloudtail India. I have heard about warranty problems for hp products purchased online in India. Therefore I was doing some research before buying this product. That's when I found this hp customer advisory. It lists Cloudtail as an authorized hp vendor. But, not Cloudtail India, which is to the best of my knowledge is a sister concern of Cloudtail. So, my question is if I buy this product from Cloudtail India on Amazon.in, will my product be covered under 3 years warranty (it is wrongly described on the Amazon listing as 1 year warranty) from Hp India? Thanks is advance.

I am wondering if it is possible to connect my home PC back in India from here in USA. I tried net meeting, remote desktop connection, but i got errors.

Can some experts guide me how to do this. I think this will not be allowed as its something like hacking. I use a cable modem and router, while the internet connection in India is a dial up 56 kbps.

I read on internet that both the PCs must be on same network for netmeeting, etc to work, so how do i do that. Also is it true that the IP address given by ipconfig is not the actual IP address, i should somehow get the WAN ip address of both PC's. I do not know how to get that.

Guidance would be greatly appreciated. thanks in advance.

A:Connect my PC in India from US

When you are connected to a router your computer's IP address is a private address assigned by the router. For your public IP address look at the router's WAN status or go here: http://www.whatismyip.com/

To connect by Remote Desktop your India PC has to be configured properly; for XP Pro this just means set to allow RD. For other systems you need some third party software. And, of course, the PC has to be connected to the internet. You will probably not enjoy RD with dial-up, and unless it's a pretty decent dial-up it may be too slow to work at all. Good luck.
