ASCII Base64 HEX Binary etc Cipher/Decipher programme (offline)?

Q: ASCII Base64 HEX Binary etc Cipher/Decipher programme (offline)?

Does anyone know of one?
I can only find online converters that feature more than a few encoding schemes that can be used.
Not interested in just ASCII to Binary,HEX,Oct tools, need URL encoding as well as the others.
Very surprised I can't find this, even moreso if it doesn't exist.

Preferred Solution: ASCII Base64 HEX Binary etc Cipher/Decipher programme (offline)?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I recently had to do complete re-install of my forum(phpbb3) and my ftp (and me) didn't know that the files without extensions were binary and it downloaded them as ascii. those files contained picture attachments to posts, they are real important to my forum. phpbb3 says they cannot be fixed, but it seems to me a utility program should be able to reverse the damage, anybody know of one? plz?
No there are no other backups other than these corrupted ones.
Phpbb3 is of NO help, they say they are toast.
You guys(and girls) are my last hope.

Okay, here's the deal:

Our users run reports using Terminal Emulation on our UNIX box, and the report generates a file. Easy enough.

We need to give users the ability to FTP into the box (I set that up already) and transfer the files to their local machine, but the files have to be transferred in ASCII, not binary. I've tried with both Netscape 4.6 and IE 5, and can't figure out how to make it switch between ASCII/Binary.

I have a client with a PS2/55 with a broken disk drive. When you put a disk in, general failure. If you put strong preassure on the disk drive from below, you get bad sector 0.. I need to transfer a lot of Word Perfect files from this machine to disk, or another medium so I can import them to the clients new machine. Optimally, I would like to be able to attach a parallel cable to from the printer port on the PS/2 DOS 5.0 machine to a windows XP laptop and transer the files using the DOS print command, or some other DOS command or > pipes or whatever and capture them with some sort of software on the windows XP machine. I can't get any sort of transfer software on the DOS box cuz the drive is broken.. Please help!

I heard of some type of command prompt called cmd cipher? what does that do? is it like a computer command that overwrittes files? What i got out of it is that it is like a......... manual secure deletion technique. Now besides just spitting at me a link to some software or program, actullay explain to me if what i am saying is right or just totally crazy. I need to know if that command does something totally different. Here is how i get the command to run in case you have no idea as to what i am talking about. i heard that you go to start menu > run> cmd > cipher/w:'foldername' ( or if you choose the c drive or some other drive) that all the data will be encrypted. Will the data that has come from the drive or folder that has been erased been securley wiped as well? or does this just encrypt already present files? i dont know and id really like to know how and what the heck this is. But this is where i got to know of this action you could take- http://www.governmentsecurity.org/archive/t10926.html and also http://support.microsoft.com/kb/298009 could you explain what this is saying to me if i dont already have the right idea. I would greatly appreaitate it.

A:[SOLVED] what is start menu cmd cipher cipher /w:'foldername' do for a computer

Hi dainquisitive1

From what I understood, cipher with the /w parameter will overwrite the space that was previously used by deleted data in order to make it impossible for someone else to recover that data by running an undelete utility on it.

When you delete some data on your hard drive, the data isn't physically removed until some other data is written over it. Instead the only thing that's removed is the header in the file allocation table telling where data xyz is stored. With the proper utility someone can recover the content of the "deleted" data as long as it's not been overwritten.

cipher /w will overwrite the unallocated data on the choosen drive/volume. It won't encrypt anything since the /w parameter makes cipher ignore all other parameters.

A question that I could not seem to find a direct answer to:

I have IE8 32 and IE8 64 running on WIN7 64 with Norton Internet Security 2010. Both show a cipher strength of 256 under Help/About. When I run a cipher test on a site like Fortify.net it shows both as running a 128 cipher, not 256. Other browsers such as Chrome and Firefox show 256 on tests, as listed in their browser info. I have tried different adjustments in IE8 to TLS settings, SSL settings as well as Security Level and I tried using Compatibility Mode all with the same result.

PC is running fine and don't have any issues with accessing networks or Banking sites but I find this scenario very peculiar and frankly annoying. Is there's something I should adjust settings wise? Does IE8 revert to 128 under certain circumstances? Why is IE8 not using a 256 cipher when it says it is 256?

A:IE8 showing 256 cipher under Help/About, but showing 128 cipher on tests?

I found an interesting post on another website by a Mr. Chris R. Chapman. The author explains what I had guessed about this situation.

Today, a friend remarked to me that according to an SSL framecheck site he uses (Fortify SSL Check) his 64?bit Win7 + IE8 configuration was registering as 128 bit AES by default, and not ? as he anticipated ? 256 bit AES (as FireFox does, for example).

This is true and by design: The IE team made a conscious decision to trade off cipher strength for speed, since 128 bits is sufficient for securing most channels reliably and not impact speed on HTML-heavy sites. However, what if you do want 256?bit AES cipher strength as the default for securing IE?s channel? Fear not ? here?s the resolution I was able to surface:

1.Launch ?Edit Group Policy? from the Start menu.
2.Navigate to Computer Configuration?>Administrative Templates?>SSL Configuration Settings via the treeview control.
3.Note that in the right pane, the entry is not enabled ? double-click the entry to bring up the edit dialog and select the ?Enable? radio button.
4.In the text box under Options on the left side, paste-in the comma-delimited list from the following file: File Attachment: ie8_ciphersuites_group_policy.txt (1 KB)
5.Click OK and close off the policy editor dialog.
7.Navigate to the Fortify site and verify that AES 256 is your default cipher strength.
The ?magic? that makes this happen is in the list of ciphers which are parse... Read more

ok i have this password encrypt and decrypt function in a dll that i can run from an exe. And i want to duplicate the encrypt and decrypt function but in vb.net only. I cannot use the dll in the project. Im not sure eactly how they encrypt it, but i believe it might be some sort of Base64. Peaking in the the dll i see this:

im guessing its the "salt" or character set or something...

when encoding a string, it seems to always put a equal sign (=) on the end. And if i decode it without the equal sign it will still still return the origonal string.

when i enter a single character and then encode, it always gives me a 12 charater string(includeing the =)

when i enter more than 8 characters, it will encode to a 24 character string.

Hi, I'm having problems with I.E.5.0 - Some months ago I upgraded my Internet Explorer 5.0 using the high encryption pack from microsoft. This enabled me to access my banking site etc. Just recently however I've not been able to log on to that same site and when I checked help>about I noticed that my cipher strength had been reset to 0 bit (rather than 128) and that I'm running verion 5.0 of IE!!! I then tried to update my encryption from the microsoft site and it tells me that I'm running version 5.5 and won't offer me a download of the security upgrade....Does anyone know what has happened??? Could it be related to the removal of the ska virus from my system recently which involved the replacement of wsock32.dll??? Can anyone help me to get my browser working again. Thanks

A:?128 bit cipher in IE5.0/5.5

I checked symantec and found 2 worms that use the ska, but neither show that they changed the browser, just the winsock file. Version 5.0 and version 5.5 of IE are two totally different browsers. 5.5 has the 128 built into the system were version 4 and 5.0 require the 128 bit encription. My suggestion would be to uninstall the browser and try and reinstall it. I tried to get on Microsoft site to see if they had a fix, but was not able to get into it this morning.

1) What's the difference between a binary tree and a binary search tree?

2) If I have a set of integers, say x = [5, 7, 12, 2, 4, 18, 9, 10, 1] and I have to put these into a binary tree, how do I decide where each integer goes, ie how do I decide what is the root, what are its children etc.

3) Same as above for a binary search tree. Are there any differences?

While having a discussion with a friend of mine, he asked why my cipher strength in IE8 is 256-bit, and his is only 128-bit. I don't really know the answer to that, but after looking on this page https://www.fortify.net/sslcheck.html it tells me my cipher strength is only 128-bit. Yet it clearly says in the "About Internet Explorer" page, my cipher strength is 256-bit.

So who is right here? Is that site giving me a false reading, or is IE8 not telling me the truth?

I am running Windows Vista 32-bit with SP1, and my friend is running Windows XP 32-bit with SP3.

I have seen this posted here before but I do not recall the problem being resolved ........

I am trying to run cipher.exe in an elevated command prompt using "cipher /w:C" to wipe free disk space , even though I am the administrator on the administrator account, whether I run at an elevated cmd prompt or not I get the same message ....

"This program is blocked by group policy, For more information, contact your system administrator"

I get the same message when I try to use SDelete also.
I know CCleaner wipes free space also but it takes forever to do it, even when it is set on one pass, on a 1TB drive with 630GB free space to wipe CCleaner takes 14+ hours to wipe with one pass.

How do I get around the above problem in group policy?

BTW, I have also tried to reset the group policy editor to default also ....... does not work.

Running Windows 8.1 Pro x64 with all Windows updates in place.

hi! My Internet Explorer with version 6.0 but cipher strength is only 56-bit. I couldn't open some web pages. I want to upgrade cipher strength from 56-bit to 128-bit. Please show me how.

A:cipher strength 128-bit

In Internet Explorer click on Help and select About Internet Explorer.
The window that pops up should say "Cipher strength: 128-bit".
If it doesn't, clicking on "Update Information" will take you to this page with instructions for upgrading IE:

If you're running Windows 2000 go here:

The upgrade is pretty fast and easy (you do have to restart your computer).

You'll see similar symptoms if SSL 2 or 3 isn't enabled (not likely as enable is the default). In IE:
1) Click on "Tools"
2) Select menu item "Internet Options"
3) Click on the "Advanced" tab
4) Scroll down to the "Security" section
5) Make sure SSL 2.0 and 2.3 are checked

Hi Team,
It would be a bit strange question but it always better to ask rather than assume.
I was running a VA scan in which for our Windows 2016 which is a Domain Controller it had found the Vulnerability name :- SSL RC4 Cipher Suites Supported (Bar Mitzvah)
The remote host supports the use of RC4 in one or more cipher suites.
The RC4 cipher is flawed in its generation of a pseudo-random stream
of bytes so that a wide variety of small biases are introduced into
the stream, decreasing its randomness.

If plaintext is repeatedly encrypted (e.g., HTTP cookies), and an
attacker is able to obtain many (i.e., tens of millions) ciphertexts,
the attacker may be able to derive the plaintext.
Solution Mentioned :-
Reconfigure the affected application, if possible, to avoid use of RC4
ciphers. Consider using TLS 1.2 with AES-GCM suites subject to browser
and web server support.
My Queries as follows :-
1) It is an DC controller server no Web Server or IIS is hosted still we need to check this Parameter.
2) If it is yes do let me know how we can verify and where in our Server this Setting is present?
3) Also let me know how we can solve this issue which setting needs to be enable in our windows server.
Awaiting expertise answers on this.

I just spent 2 days trying to restore my 128 bit Internet Explorer security settings to 128 bit and finally had a hunch. I ran sfc /scannow and it worked for a few minutes, reinstalled SP2 which did not help, searched the web for hours, and nothing worked for more than a few minutes.

Suspecting Zone Alarm 6.1, I uninstalled it (128 bit security not present) and reinstalled an older version. Without doing anything else, my 128 bit security returned. Apparently, Zone Alarm was turning it off or blocking it in some way.

hai everybody,
i want to know, whether increasing the cipher strength in an internet explorer improves the browsing speed of the browser.

if yes, how will it improve the speed of the browser

if no ,what is the use of increasing cipher strength

please reply me as early as possible
thank you

A:cipher strengh in internet explorer

To the best of my knowledge, increased cipher-strength (high-encryption browser) won't do anything to improve the speed of your browser. What it WILL do is give you access to certain webpages that you couldn't access with a lower-encryption browser (many bank/financial sites require a high-encryption browser in order to access them).

Cipher-strength is really just the ability of a cipher (essentially a set of keys to exchange information back and forth) to withstand being "broken". If one takes a plaintext document, then uses a "key" to transform it into ciphertext, they can then send it to the intended recipient, with less of a risk of the document being intercepted and viewed (by a third-party).

This site has more info: Cryptography explained

If you want to increase your browser speed, try typing in "internet explorer" + "tweaks" into a search engine, like Google or Yahoo.

Hello sir,

The web server only supports SSL certificate cipher suite TLS_RSA_WITH_DES_CBC_SHA(0x0009), as well as only RSA 512 bit unsafe key.
According to https://support.microsoft.com/ko-kr/help/2661254/microsoft-security-advisory-update-for-minimum-certificate-key-length, I added registry key, Chain\minRSAPubKeyBitLength
is 512 decimal, and modify list data value of HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Cryptography\Configuration\Local\SSL\0001002\Functions which are added "TLS_RSA_WITH_DES_CBC_SHA" and deleted "TLS_RSA_WITH_NULL_xxx".

As you see above screen shot, one client PC is good on hand shaking process of TLSv1 especially sending "Client Key Exchange, Change Cipher Spec, Finished" TLS packets well.

Despite same config, the other client PC is, on the contrary, bad on TLS connection. This client PC missed "Client Key Exchange, Change Cipher Spec, Finished" TLS packets sending
next "Server Hello Done" packet.
Two client PC is same os windows 7, and same browser ie8, of course.
How can I solve this problem.....I appreciate your help.

We have a Tomcat server that specifies a list of ciphers it accepts, but since the installation of either 3161608 or 3172605, IE keeps trying to use a different cipher, thus failing to reach the site. It keeps trying to use TLS_DHE_RSA_WITH_AES_128_SHA
even though the Tomcat server expressly prohibits any DHE cipher unless it's one of the ECDHE ciphers. Chrome uses TLS_RSA_AES_128_SHA which is also in the cipher list the Tomcat server accepts. We can set group policy overriding the cipher order so that
users can reach the site, but we can only do that for users within our organization and most of our users are outside the organization. Shouldn't IE be checking the server cipher suites offered and select one of those based upon the workstation's cipher order?
Any ideas why this isn't happening, but IE decides to try the connection with the unacceptable cipher instead of one from the list the server provides?

Hi, I wonder if anyone can help. I have been Googling all over the place last couple of days and looking through hundreds of regkeys but cannot find the answer.

We have 1800 PC's using Offline files to a NAS location. Even though the Group Policy is set to force PC's Offline no matter what the latency value. I have noticed some PC's that have Offline files enabled but are set to work online. Maybe set manually
before the GPO was applied. Anyway I was wondering if there is a way to detect on numerous PC's whether a PC is set to work Offline or Online? I have been looking to see if a regkey changes when the Work Offline / Online button is pressed on the file menu
of the redirected folder.

I have found a key that changes if you hit the button Work Online/ Offline button
manually HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\NetCache\OnlineTransitionLog Value - (name of nas share) but this clears when the PC is rebooted or logged out and does not reappear unless you do the switch again manually.
This will not work when I try to scan all the PC's.

Help would be much appreciated.

Is it true that by updating the SSL settings to current standards will lead to excluding Internet Explorer 11? Or can we mitigate Sweet32 whilst keeping support for Internet Explorer 11?

Q: Ascii

I am applying for a fellowship that requires me to submit part of the application (my info/essay questions) as follows:

"A one page typewritten description (ASCII disk or audiotape) identifying..."

Sorry if I sound a little silly by asking, but...
does that mean I can just submit a printed, typewritten paper? Or do I have to do things a little differently? I could do an audiotape BUT for this purpose I'd prefer writing so I can correct it (just got a term paper for my "how to be a teacher" class back today. It would've been 100 but for two spelling errors which I was busted for. Proof that teachers are human too? )

If it matters, I am using open office and/or documents to go for blackberry (open office if I can get ti done on my desktop tonight, docs to go if it doesn't).
I have never heard of ASCII (and melyogi was rushing off somewhere so I couldn't ask her) and so I want to make sure before I send in this thing I do get to know what it is so I don't fubar my application.

If it's simple and stupid, just tell me so I can laugh at myself for not knowing better.

In the meantime I'll start typing what I need to type and if I need to convert, c'est la vie!

Meanwhile, wish me luck (let's hope I get it)!

Q: Ascii?

sorry, i don't really know where else to put this

My question is that I want to write something, and the person I'm writing it for has said that it needs to be in ASCII...something to be written in notepad

What...uhh does that mean?

sorry if this is in the wrong spot, I just figured I'd post here since I have vista

ASCII is a coding method to designate letters with numbers, Notepad is a simple text editor that saves in ASCII (as well as other possible things, e.g. Unicode). ASCII is the default output. You will find notepad in the START list under, programs, accessories.

ASCII means American Standard Code for Information Interchange : it is a set of character representation codes for computer.
There are other conventions like EBCDIC for example.

I try to connect to https://vpn.par01.softlayer.com web site with IE 11 and I always get the same following error message :

This page can?t be displayed
Turn on TLS 1.0, TLS 1.1, and TLS 1.2 in Advanced settings and try connecting to https://vpn.par01.softlayer.com  again. If this error persists, contact your site administrator.

By clicking on the "Change settings" button associated with this error message, the IE Advanced option tab is displayed :

from there, I can see that SSL 3.0 and all TLS versions are correctly checked ;

When I do the same test from a colleague's PC with the same Windows 7 version and exactly the same IE 11 version,  there is not problem to reach this web page

When comparing Wireshark traces taken on both PC, I can see the following differences in the SSL CLient Hello packet sent by IE :

1) in the good case,  this Client hello includes 26 Cipher Suites, with TLS 1.2

2) in the bad case, this Client hello includes 24 Cipher Suites, with TLS 1.2

The 2 missing Cipher Suites in the bad case are the following ones :

Cipher Suite: TLS_RSA_WITH_RC4_128_SHA (0x0005)
Cipher Suite: TLS_RSA_WITH_RC4_128_MD5 (0x0004)

In the good case, the Server hello sent by the server (in response to the Client hello) shows the TLS_RSA_WITH_RC4_128_SHA Cipher Suite is the one selected ;

In the bad case, the Client hello is answered by the server by a packet showing the following message :

We have recently disabled tls 1.0 and tls 1.1 for the our site https://qa.valgenesis.net . I have two PC with windows 7 . In one PC I have IE 11 with latest version and other with a bit older version . I have attached the screen shot .

In the PC with the old version i dont have any problem in accessing  the site. But the PC with the IE 11 and with latest version give me

the following error . Can anyone help me out

Turn on TLS 1.0, TLS 1.1, and TLS 1.2 in Advanced settings and try connecting to https://qa.valgenesis.net again. If this error persists, it is possible that this site uses an unsupported protocol or cipher suite such as RC4 (link for the details), which
is not considered secure. Please contact your site administrator.

I have discovered that if I disconnect my DSL from my computer, IE will work, the sidebar will work, and most of the programs will operate correctly. If I connect it into the back of the computer, almost immediately Windows Vista will report a problem and start looking for a solution. IE will also prompt "stopped working" and the sidebar will quit . Also most programs that require some type of installer wizard will not open, but shutdown.

Does anyone have any ideas or know a solution to the problem.

Help would be greatly appreciated!!!!!

I can setup offline folders on a Windows 2000 Pro client so the files are available when offline.

Is it possible to configure offline folders so that even when the computer is connected to the network the offline folder is still used.

What we want to acheive is for the notebook user to always use a local copy of their data but to also have an up to date copy on the server.

If i need to clarify anything or provide more details then please let me know.

Hello There

Just a small question.
How do I change a letter e.g. i to a smalller letter which resides a little below the line or above the line. It is part of a mathematical equation which is written in a Word Document.
I use to know but have forgotten. I think the letter should be highlighted and some shortcut key should be pressed to change it.

Thanks very much for any suggestions
