[SOLVED] Issues loading facebook, The Escapist, Yahoo answers...

Q: [SOLVED] Issues loading facebook, The Escapist, Yahoo answers...

Hi, I'm having trouble loading pages such as facebook, The Escapist, Yahoo answers and upon further research all pages that have some form of login function. It is not a malware problem, it is not a slow internet connection, it is not a registry issue. I've run ASC scans and CCleaner, none of these are on my list of banned sites. There are no viruses on my computer, of this I am sure as the hard drive is two days old and fully protected, or on any of those in the house.

Facebook is particular takes several minutes to load then appears text only. I cannot navigate anywhere around the site from this text only version, nor can I engage in any interactions.

This issue is widespread throughout my household. All other computers in the house (2 PCs on Vista, a laptop on XP and a Mac with the latest... Mac OS thing) have the same issue. I'm at my wit's end.

Please help.
Dan

Edit: I should also state that I use Google Chrome, the other PC and Laptop use Firefox and the Mac uses Safari. There is no lack of disparity in search engines.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

If it affects all your computers on the network, then there is something wrong with your network, or your ISP. Have you turned off routers and modem, then turn just the modem back on, and after all it's lights have come back on, and stop blinking (this can take up to 10 min) turn your router on. Once it's on, then turn your computer one and try the site. If it's working then continue with each computer, one at a time. If this doesn't help, you need to call your ISP about the issue so that they can see if they have a problem with your modem, or their network.

I have cleared cashe, flash cashe and Java and still has this issue. Also no malware or viruses. What can cause this. Also to note it is slow to load yet other sites are fine.

Try to use a different web browser other than your usual one and post the result. The intention is to find out if it's just a problem with one particular web browser, which will obviously help in tracing the cause.

Hi it just started these 2 days when i just cannot access facebook via normal PC browsers. The page wither take ages to load or I get time out error messages, empty responses error page etc. Even if I manage to login, the browser will be trying to load the next page for ages, only to return similar error pages. I am able to access FB from my mobile HP though so it cant be my FB account issue.

I have the same problem when i use a different machine and it happens to my FB account all the time. My family members encounter the same intermittently but not as bad as my case.

There dun seem to be any consistency or pattern on why it happens to some and doesnt though we are all ont he same network. I am suspecting though it is my router settings but am not sure how I can troubleshoot... When I use 3G via hotspot through my mobile HP, I seem to be able to at least login to my facebook account successfully though, loading is slower due to the limited bandwidth..

This is so frustrating...Thanks in advance!

Hi Folks,

I have had a recurring issue with my Windows 7 computer redirecting Google, Yahoo, and sometimes Facebook to a Yahoo Developer page (or a generic error page on iPhones and iPads on the network). Once it starts, it sometimes stops on its own after a couple minutes, sometimes it requires a power cycle of all networked devices (modem, router, a printer, 2 iPhones, and iPad and my PC).

I've had Norton continuously since purchasing the computer, run anti-malware bytes and SuperAntispyware, and none of them have been able to locate an issue.

I even tried re-installing Windows 7, but I think perhaps because I have an upgrade disk rather than the original I didn't get a full purge and the problem continued before I returned any backed up files onto it..

I also removed my PC from the network for about a month and never experienced the problem with my other devices. I'm fairly positive it's the PC, but I can't figure out the issue and am hoping someone here can help.

Hiya and welcome to Tech Support Guy

Are you still having this problem? If so, can you do the following:

Download Security Check from here.
Save it to your Desktop.
Double click SecurityCheck.exe and follow the onscreen instructions inside of the black box.
A Notepad document should open automatically called checkup.txt; please post the contents of that document.

Please download Junkware Removal Tool to your desktop.

Shut down your protection software now to avoid potential conflicts.
Run the tool by double-clicking it. If you are using Windows Vista, 7, or 8; instead of double-clicking, right-mouse click JRT.exe and select "Run as Administrator".
The tool will open and start scanning your system.
Please be patient as this can take a while to complete depending on your system's specifications.
On completion, a log (JRT.txt) is saved to your desktop and will automatically open.
Post the contents of JRT.txt into your next message.

Please download AdwCleaner by Xplode onto your desktop.

Double click on AdwCleaner.exe to run the tool.
Click on Search.
A logfile will automatically open after the scan has finished.
Please post the contents of that logfile with your next reply.
You can find the logfile at C:\AdwCleaner[R1].txt as well.

Please include the checkup.txt, JRT.txt and adwCleaner[R1].txt in your next reply

So a few years ago I had an older account and I wanted to ask for some advice on some personal problems that I had at that time. I thought that yahoo answers would be a good place to ask. I asked my questions and later I wanted to create a more professional account on that site so I did and forgot about my old account. Untill recently I stumbled upon my older questions and I am kind of embarrassed by what I wrote and I want to delete or report my own questions. So far I have been reporting my old questions and It worked for some of the time but there were still a lot there. I asked Yahoo Answers what I could do but they never gave me any good advice. Basically they just said

1. Click on the pencil icon to delete your old posts

2. Once you submit a best answer you cannot delete your own question.

So far these answers have not been very helpful and I was wondering if maybe you guys could help. I have found a way to log into my old account and go to "add details" in the hopes I could write something controversial or like that to get my old posts taken down. I was wondering what is a fast way to report my old posts or erase them?

A:I want to report some of my old questions on Yahoo Answers. How do I do this?

It seems, looking at the response of Yahoo! team, that there is no other way to delete the questions as you've already selected a 'best answer' for them.

Though you could try the 'Right to be Forgotten' law, where you can challenge Yahoo! in court to ask for old data about you that are no longer relevant, to be removed from their servers. If you are in any of the European Union member states, it may be easier to do this due to a recent ruling by the Court of Justice of the EU.
-- Also keep in mind the costs this may bring about.

Other than attempting to legally compel Yahoo! to erase such data, it seems there is no other way for you to delete them yourself without their help.

I know that Yahoo Answers has made some changes over the last few months but one thing is that I really want to delete some of my questions on their site. I know that once you have a best answer you cannot delete a question unless it receives a violation. But I really have some questions that I want to get rid of and I don't know how. I am hoping to violate my own questions but even that sometimes doesn't work. I was wondering is there a way that I can remove my older questions from yahoo?

A:How do I delete questions from Yahoo Answers?

The short answer is no you can't. But you should reach out to Yahoo directly and ask them if there are exceptions.

This is a very new problem. My wife plays Bridge on Yahoo games, and it was working perfectly before our trip to the USA about three weeks ago. On our return, she finds that it is not working on her computer. I tried to get to the game on three other computers that we have (running XP, vista (home premium) and windows 7 (home premium)) and the same problem occurs on all the computers. I wrote to Yahoo and they suggested uninstalling and reinstalling Java, which I did, but it has not helped.

I would be grateful for any help in resolving the issue. I have tried running the game with AVG 9.0 and zone alarm (where appropriate) not operational. Have tried IE8, Firefox 3.5.6 and Google Chrome 3.0.195.38, and the same error shows on all browsers. Can there be some problem with my wireless router? I have tried to reset it, and that has also not helped.

Very grateful for any help. When I go to the Yahoo Bridge site, I see a great many persons playing, but the applet is just not loading in any of my computers.

However, I am able to access every other website except for facebook. I've tried using a proxy to access the website and I was able to do it but when I switch the proxy off, I'm back to square one.

I've tried going to the website on another PC with the same WiFi network and it works. I believe the problem lies with my computer itself. Is there any way to solve this problem?

Like said in the title; it is close to impossible for me to connect to Facebook! I don't want any miss understanding I can occasionally connect, I want to stress the word "occasionally" because I've been trying for the past few months non-stop (when I say non-stop I mean for an hour or so until I give up) and when I do connect, which is about 1/10,000 attempts, it runs rather slow, like its struggling to stay connected, I've noticed a pattern that its somewhat easier ( I don't know if its just random statistical luck) to connect after 0:00 GMT.

Anyway, I've done the usual stuff like checked if I could connect using other web browsers ( I'm using Google chrome but I checked using Firefox and internet explorer) I couldn't connect on any of them and the problem is only with Facebook and my computer specifically. Other computers in the same house, and also my iPod, can connect to Facebook just fine. Also I've tried un-installing and re-installing Google chrome with no luck, I've looked up other solutions with no success such as going on internet explorer > internet options> connections > Lan settings and making sure some box in un-ticked. with no luck. I've even tried going on CMD and pinging Facebook and I'm losing no packets with a Min ping of 97ms and a Max ping of 98ms.

Whenever i click on the 'New Chat button, i get the message that "Yahoo Messenger is currently loading" or "Yahoo messenger is currently not available".

The biggest problem is that this new version does not allow one to go back to an earlier version. I have another yahoo account also where i luckily did not upgade to the new version. Here yahoo messenger easily opens in Yahoo Mail.

Now my mouse works with all other applications as far as scrolling. But it doesn't work whenever I open a message window and try to use it to scroll. I have reinstalled both the mouse and Yahell mesenger. What do you think I could do to resolve this minor annoyance?

A:Solved: Scroll mouse issues in Yahoo Messenger

sgl1,
I'm hearing this for the first time. Never heard that a single application not responding to a scroll mouse. I had a similar problem but that was in Linux. Now thats fine too.
I searched regarding this and got a link but I dont think it would do all that is required. But its related to the mouse events and so I guess checking it wont harm that much too...

Yahoo! Help

Mostly all such problems would be solved by just re-installing the applications. The file is not too huge so re-install can be still an option. What latest version do you've? Have you downloaded the latest Beta version or the complete version???

Anyways try this and hope it will help you out...

Hello all,

My wifes lappy is acting up again. (Compaq Presario Celeron 2.3 ghz 256 ram winXP SP2)

Pop ups begin to appear wildly, then Yahoo Messenger and AIM stopped working (when you open the programs, they appear for a lil bit then disappear and never load)

Ran Ad-aware and Spybot ad cleaned somestuff off, checked firewall setings, all seem good and working good. Wireless internet connection is good. NAV up to date.

Checked the source code on some of the pop ups and they had Zeno all over them. Searched for instructions on removing Zeno, followed a couple of them and appears like Zeno is gone.

Still get a few pop ups here and there but Yahoo and AIM are still not working.
Any assistance is greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

For years, I used Outlook Express and Outlook. I preferred to use Outlook Express because as a mail program, it did everything I wanted with ease. The interface was intuitive. But, I was forced to change to Outlook because my AVG Internet Security (virus/spam) program would not work with Outlook Express. Outlook has far too many convoluted options and unnecessary 'mini programs' built into it that I have no use for. It's a mess.

So, I opted to use Yahoo Mail Classic, (NOT THE NEW PAID VERSION).

My problems with Yahoo Mail Classic are these:

1. It does not display attached images (.jpg, .bmp, etc.) within the body of messages that I receive from family and friends automatically. Instead, Yahoo forces me to click on "download images" links to download the images to my hard drive. I have to click several different links in order for me to simply 'Open' the image so that I can view it. That is a waste of time and totally rediculous. Neither Outlook Express nor Outlook required such a procedure. And, it's even worse (even rediculous) when I get an email that has 8 or 10 images attached! I have to go through that silly process for each image!

2. MAIN ISSUE: The silly "Compose" interface in (sending a new) Yahoo email.

Why did the programmers decide to make the "Compose" window the size of a postage stamp?? It's not even re-sizeable!! Are they crazy, or just sadistic. I can't even see what my messages will lo... Read more

I've been having a problem on my laptop in which I can not log into any of my accounts. I can go to yahoo but I can't sign in to check my email. Same for hotmail or facebook and many other things. When I enter my password it says cannot find website. I'm pretty sure I have some virus issues. Any suggestions?

A:Can't log into any webites: yahoo, msn, facebook...

You should just be able to go to the top of the page in Internet Explorer click the Tools menu and choose Internet Options at the bottom. It will could be one of two windows.

1. If you have TWO different buttons that say 'delete cookies' and 'delete files' then you click on 'delete cookies' then 'ok' in the little box, then click 'delete files', in the little box click the tiny white square that says 'delete all offline content', then click 'ok'. Wait for the hourglass to go away. Then go down to the next section and click 'clear history' and 'yes' on the warning. After all that, go to the top and click the tab that says 'security' and then the button 'default level', click tab that says 'privacy' and 'default' on that too.

2. If you have just one button that says 'delete', click it, check the box at the bottom and click ok. Go to the security tab and click 'reset all zones to default'.

Try to access any secure website, sign in to hotmail or yahoo. If it still doesn't work, restart the computer and try again.

Hope somebody can help me as I have spent about 6 hours on the phone with my ISP without any success and I'm ready to scream.

I am using Windows Vista ADSL connection

my email works fine
some websites like google and this one also work, however I cannot access the following:

www.hotmail.com
www.facebook.com
some such as

take approx 3 minutes to load and are only in text form.

I have tried disabling my Norton 360 and resetting the browsers cookies etc etc without any success. I have tried doing a trace route as suggested by my ISP but that didn't seem to reveal anything.

The system worked fine 48 hours ago, I have tried an iphone and an ipad via the same connection and they have the same issues yet work fine on an alternative connection.
