I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Relying on the information on the Lenovo website listing "Ubuntu" and "Redhat certified" under "Operating Systems", I chose a Lenovo P52. The device arrived, and I opened BIOS settings to prepare for the Linux installation I had planned. After changing some settings, I chose "change settings and reboot", and the device entered a nonresponsive state: Screen black with the exception of a single white pixel in the left upper edge of the screen. After about 30 minutes, I tried a re-boot; again, the screen stayed black. No Lenovo logo appeared, clicking F1 (or any other function key) did not lead into the BIOS settings. Customer support told me this was a technical defect, and I sent the device back to the dealer. A week later, the new Lenovo P52 arrived.  This time, trying to set up the BIOS for Linux installation, I always changed but a single setting and chose the "Save and Reboot" option. Things went fine until I chose to "Enable" the "BIOS support for Thunderbolt", a setting suggested by the BIOS help appearing on the right quarter of the BIOS setttings screen for installation of Windows 10 before a certain patch level and for installation of Linux. An Info Box popped op, saying the resetting with take "up to 15 seconds" with this option enabled.  The "Save and Reboot" led to a bricked device, again: Black screen, nothing happened for 45 minutes. A reboot again failed to have the Lenovo logo appear, no reaction on keys F1 to F12, no way to enter BIOS setup, let... Read more

Hi, attempted to upgrade my Yoga 920's BIOS using this BIOS version (link to README):https://us.download.lenovo.com/consumer/mobiles/5ncn41ww.txt After running the executable, Windows 10 restarted but never came back and the Laptop will not boot. The keyboard and power button flash for about 1 second and then it turns off again. The screen remains off and the same thing happens over and over again until I press and hold the power button for about 8 seconds to completely turn off the system. I tried pressing the "recovery" pin-hole button next to the power button with a papaer clip but the same behavior occurs. I guess it's bricked so I'm wondering if anyone knows of a way to force the Yoga 920 to flash a recovery BIOS or something from a USB stick. Thanks.

Hi everyone, I have a Yoga 720 model 80X6002JUS. I recently downloaded the new BIOS that was posted yesterday (April 3, 2018) 1YCN30WW(V1.07).  When I ran it, it said it was older than the version I was running. I was on version 2.05 or 2.06. I figured it was just labeled incorrectly, so I went to my BIOS and allowed older versions to be installed. I ran it, and now my computer is "bricked". The power button light turns on, I can turn the keyboard backlight on and off with fn+space, but nothing shows up on the screen. I can't get to the BIOS or picking a boot method to re-install Windows.  Is there any master way to reflash a BIOS? I can send the laptop in for repair, but would prefer to try and reflash it myself.  Worst case, does anyone know the best way for me to plug the SSD into a different computer to take off my personal stuff before I send it in? I have Intel® SSD 600p Series which has a PCIe NVMe 3.0 x4 interface. I checked Amazon and I don't see any USB enclosures that will fit that. Note to Lenovo: I would consider taking the new (or old?) BIOS offline if this happened to anyone else.  Thank you for any help you guys can provide

Hi, I ran the Lenovo system update software and it found a BIOS update version 1.33.117.  I choose to install it and it restarted my computer, the fans ramped up to max, and it appeared to flash the BIOS.  When it restarted it never came back up.  The power light on the side and the Thinkpad light on the top of the case is on, but the screen is black.  Holding the power button does nothing. The computer was received with UEFI BIOS Version 1.32/N1GET53W.The embedded controller version is 1.15/N1GHT38W. Is this computer bricked?  Should I just wait for the battery to drain and then try to boot up? The computer is running Windows 7 64bit.

There is an emergency reset hole where you can push a button using something like a sewing needle.  Turn the computer over and it is on the left.  There are 2 holes on that side - a drain hole and the reset hole.  The one you want is closer to the hinge

I tried this BIOS and it bricked my computer. I have tried  everything, pressing the power button for 45 seconds and then pressing it again to power on the pc, removing the battery and I also tried the novo button but nothing works. The only thing that happens when I power on the pc is that the backlight on the keyboard lights up for two seconds and then nothing. The power led stays on and so does the charging led when the charger is connected. I called Lenovo support and they told me to send them the computer for repair. It's only a month old. It's the 16Gb, 1 Tb glass lid model. This happened yesterday, 2017/03/24 The morning after this happened, 2017/03/25, I now have control over the keyboard backlight and if I put in a usb stick the little led on the usb stick flashes, I'm hopeful that it might indicate that the motherboard is not tried. Any help with this issue is greatly appreciated.

I?ve been nearly 2 months without my laptop and have absolutely no idea what to do. Mid-July, I sent in my $3000 Yoga 920 for a repair on some minor hardware issues (speakers garbled, fingerprint scanner not working). Since this is my work PC, I asked for a turn around time from support and they quoted me 9 days. What a sick joke ? I finally received the laptop 35 days later from support, and it was missing the AC adapter I sent in with it. After finding a spare to charge the machine, I turned the computer on to find that the hard drive had been completely wiped and there was no boot device available! After spending hours on the phone with incompetent customer service reps, I was told the case had been escalated to a Customer Care Manager (case no. 03774804, Rep was Jason). They emailed me on Aug 16th saying that they were going to process a complete replacement of the unit once I provided some additional information. Flash forward a month, and I?ve sent 4 emails and called the rep directly twice and have heard ABSOLUTELY NOTHING BACK. Calls into the only customer service line I can find so absolutely nothing, as the reps (not based in the US, obviously), simply tell me that the case has been escalated to the highest level and that my rep will be in touch (they have obviously not). I have literally no idea what to do now, and am hoping someone from Lenovo with a brain will read this and offer some assistance. At this point, I want my m... Read more

It seems during the BIOS updating process it when well but after 2nd reboot there's some message on the screen that the BIOS failed to update factory setting and it freeze on the message for quiet sometimes. After a long wait I decided to long press Start button for hard reboot. Then the scary part comes in where it seems the laptop can't longer shows the Lenovo logo & cannot even boot to Windows, just black screen. Hope anyone can help me on this and give some advice on what I'm going to do. I would like to tried myself first before ending up with warranty claim since I'm worried I've brick the warranty due to wrong BIOS update procedure....

A:Lenovo G40-70 Bricked by BIOS Update

hi mahdhir2005,

Im sorry to hear that.

I would suggest you call the Lenovo Technical Team regarding the Issue. If it is the BIOS that's causing the issue then there maybe no source or option to have it fixed without they're help or service.

If the BIOS software you downloaded was from a legit Lenovo Site and correct model, then I think It will be ok to Just report them what happened and ask for possible option.

Hope this helped
Thanks!

Hello Lenovo community.I own a s205 and have been quite happy with it, that is until yesterday when I encountered a problem I can't seem to fix.I wanted to switch from windows 10 to kubuntu. My s205 would be on it's eight OS, but I?ve bricked it somehow - and i think it's the BIOS.What happens now when i boot it is; there is a black non-lit screen for about 10 secs, then it blinks "Lenovo Misto Ontario" (http://puu.sh/ppPdp/e95611ddf1.jpg) extremely quickly, I think it's the beginning of a boot message. - and then it's just a lit black screen from there on out. i've had it on for upward of 20 mins and nothing happens.I suspect it's a BIOS corruption of some sorts but I?m actually not sure. I've tried reinstalling the BIOS, via the Pheonix Crisis Recovery which several threads here has explained. But I don't know if it is the BIOS because I get the same boot sequence each time. fn+b, fn+r, fn+esc, win+b, win+r, win+esc, or the right arrow key (like one suggested) seems to make no difference to this, niether dose holding the power button for any length of time, after a few secs of pressing the power button the laptop just switches off again, like a hard reset.Threads I?ve looked at and tried;https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Lenovo-U-and-S-Series-Notebooks/S205-Issues-with-Bios-Recovery/m-p/5231...https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Lenovo-U-and-S-Series-Notebooks/LENOVO-BIOS-RECOVERY/m-p/332989#M11737http://askubuntu.com/questions/549193/black-screen-restarts-after-upgrade-to-14-10I... Hi, i?ve update the laptop to te latest BIOS version due to the latest Intel amt bug. After the restart it showed the progress and finished it.An auto-restart was initiated and the screen stayed black. The system would not boot anymore in the normal way. After reading on the internet keeping the [Fn]-B pressed during boot and cycling power again (keeping the keys pressed) it boots windows normaly. The fault is in the startup of the computer during the 'boot-loader' I think. After that its possible just to boot and enter the BIOS-menu. Is there a way to restore the boot to normal functionality ? Some things I als tried;- Used wincrisis restore process with BIOS.WPHhttps://www.bios-mods.com/bios-recovery/phoenix-bios-recovery/I?ve managed to downloaded the BIOS but it?s a multi file bios, think that the wincrisis-fix won?t work because of that.- Reflashed the bios, initiating from windows. Regards, Arno

Hey all ... OK,  this P70 seems to have bricked on 01DEC17 during a Win 10 update reboot (FYI - there was no battery present in the system at the time, so, it should not  have processed any Lenovo Companion download-sourced BIOS update(s), even though I know a BIOS update has been available for some time now) ... I get the initial Lenovo boot logo (white letters in a red banner on a black background) with the text advice: 'To interrupt normal startup, press Enter' and then the system hangs at that point before completing POST. Pressing either of the Enter keys, or, F1, F10 or F12 have no effect, no matter whether done singly or repeatedly, slowly or quickly ... at any point of startup, such as it is. I have tried starting from 'BIOS Update (Bootable CD) for Windows 10 (64-bit), 8.1 (64-bit), 7 (64-bit) - ThinkPad P70' downloaded from https://download.lenovo.com/pccbbs/mobiles/n1dur30w.iso at: https://support.lenovo.com/ca/en/downloads/ds106086 ... this latter is Version 2.20, Release Date 07/12/2017 (presumably 07DEC17 ... I hate all-digital dates!) Because the P70 will not complete POST, I do not believe any boot medium (USB, CD, ect.) will work. I Advanced Search'ed (in the 'With one or more of the words' field) the terms 'P70' and 'bricked' here, and, the closest I come to any sort of solution is DSperber's thread 'P70 (950 Pro NVMe0 boot) BIOS update to 1.21: can no longer boot, and ENTER/F12 both fail to work' and the apparent solution:... Hello Lenovo Experts! Brand new L380 Yoga requested BIOS update after the first reboot. It seems it did not complete the procedure properly, possibly because it happened in midst of W10 update cycle. After seeing BIOS flashing messages during boot it turned off and that was the last of it. Now, when i power it up it only makes funky short beeps, that can be repeated with the Fn key. Lenovo diagnostics app is unable to decode them properly. Screen does not turn on. Only FnLock  and keyboard illumination seems to function. Besides that the laptop is reduced to a sad instrument capable of playing one not so catchy tune... I'll add a capture of it to the message for your enjoyment. I would like to know if this model has a failsafe to reimage bios or is my only option to have the system board replaced through the warranty service.

Hi. I would like to install Linux on my Y50. There is no bootable recovery media or utilities capable of working even if the entire drive gets nuked and all partitions are erased. So I want to be careful about this and make sure that no recovery partitions or the EFI partition can be erased on my main drive, therefore I would like to install Ubuntu and the Grub EFI bootloader to a USB powered external hard drive. I definitely don't want to format or overwrite my internal Windows EFI partition. To anyone who's done this I'm  asking if what I intend is the correct way to do this and won't screw up the internal drive of my laptop. I assume I willI'm assuming that the Ubuntu LiveCD will give my internal drive the path of /dev/sda and the external drive will be /dev/sdb. I will use Gparted and create a 100MB FAT32 partition with the volume label EFI and set the boot flag on it. I will then create another partition for installing the root file system to. When installing on an MBR system I would simply select my external drive sdb2 as the device for bootloader installation at the bottom of the partitioning /dev/sdb2 and it would install the bootloader to the MBR of my external drive sdb2, however with EFI it appears I will need to set the installer to use the EFI system partition on /dev/sdb1 (or whatever partition number it gives it.) I will need to set it by choosing the mount point /boot/efi from the list otherwise the installer will default to writing to... Read more

I have a Lenovo Yoga 720 laptop with Windows 10 installed. I was attempting to install Ubuntu 18.04 as a dual boot option. I was able to install Ubuntu, but encountered some difficulties in that during the boot up process, I was not seeing an option to choose between the two OSs. I had to press F12 manually and select from one of the choices to boot into either Windows 10 or Ubuntu 18.04. I think this was because I had installed Ubuntu in legacy mode, but later found out that I should have installed it in UEFI mode instead. To start over, I removed the Ubuntu partitions using the Disk Management application in Windows. Now when I boot, I either get an error and go into GRUB rescue (I tried Boot-Repair by loading Ubuntu using a live USB to no effect) or have to press F12 again, after which I go to the screen shown below. From there, I have to choose the second option to load Windows 10. How I can remove the first option from the Boot Manager, so that Windows loads automatically without choosing the 2nd option from the Boot Option Menu whenever I start my laptop?

Hello! I'm having a rotatation problem - the screen doesn't rotate itself automaticly on Win10 - I actually have to turn on and off the auto-rotate button to do the rotation - but it's not the cause right now.  After that I decided to update the BIOS in order to eliminate that problem (at least I hoped for that) - so I downloaded a file from Lenovo site (bacna0ww). It updated itself but it didn't actually turned off the computer (the closing screen turned on for a second and got back to my desktop), so I had to turn it off by myself. After that it got updated (shortly saying) and then the "boot menu" appeard with a boot device to choose - which is my SSD (nothing else). I can choose the device by clicking enter but nothing happens. Screen flickers for a moment and got back immiedietly to the same boot menu with a SSD to choose as a boot device.  I was able to boot it by setting "legacy boot" and turning off UEFI by it - but why it actually happend? Can I turn it back as it was before? I tried installing the older BIOS version (it installed with an automatic restart without a problem) but it didn't help. The "boot menu" on UEFI still appears and still holds me back, so I can't boot by simply choosing my SSD and clicking enter on it. Will you be able to help me? Moreover - the auto rotation still doesn't work.

iI searched first on install problems with Netflix on Windows 10, but all the threads were old and I was told (suggested) to open a new thread.

I purchased a Lenovo Yoga 900 recently and have been enjoying it. Still getting to get over the hump learning Windows 10.
I have two Windows 7 machines which I am comfortable with, but still honestly, being a programmer, I still LOVED Windows XP.

When I try to install the Netflix APP ( got the latest from Windows App site ) , the first popup asks me for my Windows email account (I do not have one, I use Outlook2007,gmail,yahoo) But even so, there are no options on that pop up except to close. Then the Netflix app install windows says working ...... .... .... ... That goes on and on. I have left it like that over night and it still never does the install.

Is there any trick to installing the Netflix app on Windows 10? Right now the only way I can use Netflix is to bring up my browser and starting it that way

How about install Netflix online ?

Open your browser, search for Netflix > enter your email address and password etc etc.

That was what I did..... install Netflix on line instead of Windows Store.

And I was trying to install windows 10 Pro 64 bit from my bootable USB drive. even if I install the OS from scratch, it is loading windows 10 Home single language and stay activated. Guide me to install pro on my laptop and remove Home version. Thanks in AdvanceSunal

My computer is currently updating to the newest BIOS on my Yoga 730. Does anyone know what is different about this BIOS?

A:What’s New In Lenovo Yoga 730 BIOS update?

You were not very specific on which model Yoga 730 you have.  Below is the readme file for Yoga 730-13IKB.  If its a different model go to your models download page and you can see the BIOS download page with readme files.

Hi! I'm referring to the owners of this actual laptop and those who are using Windows 10. What kind of settings work for you best? I mean that if you were able to get automatic rotation working all the time somehow and what did you do to achive it? What version of BIOS do you use or what kind of drivers from Lenovo's site you installed. I've tried myself a few BIOS versions or different drivers - none of these work for me, especially that auto-rotation can't be achived. Can you help me?

I have a password in a bios in my Lenovo YOGA 920-13IKB Glass. After last BIOS update (from 5NCN29WW to 5NCN38WW) I can't enter the bios because I can't enter UPPERCASE chars neither with shift nor with capslock, it is literally do not enter anything when shift key is pressed. Now I have completely locked up bios, because my previous password doesn't work anymore.
