Lenovo E480 BIOS update issue

Q: Lenovo E480 BIOS update issue

Hi All, I have received my Lenovo E480 yesterday and been having two issues : 1) I can't update the BIOS to ver 1.15. The laptop reboots after running the setup but BIOS upgrade doesn't happen and I get the Windows login screen. 2) Whenever I shutdown the laptop, it restarts. Only way to shut it down is by long pressing the power button. Can you guys please help on this. Thanks

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hello, Lenovo team Can you please, add to your next BIOS update for Lenovo Y50-70 a fix, that my laptop won't lose CPU speed after i return my laptop from sleep mode. Right now i'm using BIOS version (3.03) There is no other way to fix this issue, only you can do it with a BIOS update for that model of laptop. Thank you.

Hello everyone! I ama new user and i am coming up with this post as I couldn`t find any kind of solution for my problem.Recently I decided to do a reinstallation of my operating system, which also previously was Windows 7 Ultimate (x64). The installation went as usual, and after finishing it I went on to install all the latest drivers from the Lenovo site, for my product. When getting close to installing almost all the drivers i`ve needed, i stumbled upon a new version of the BIOS amnd the drivers and sfotware recommended for my laptop, by the producer. So i proceeded to install the upgrade, restarted the computer when it prompted me to do so, but after the so-called restart the laptop did not boot up as usual. At first it was telling me to not do anything as the BIOS is being flashed and then it was telling me something about some sort of image processing, things that i did not understand at the time (i have never encountered anything like that). After that my screen turned black. I have not done anything for a few couple of minutes as i thought it was supposed to be like that, but then i just force shut it down and unplugged the AC adapter. When trying to boot it all up again, the only thing i got was a black screen and nothing else. After doing a little bit of research it appears that, somehowm i`ve managed to corrupt the bios on my laptop or something, and nothing else would work at this point. I tried to remove the BIOS battery and the ram and then put them all back, trye... Read more

I?m currently updating the BIOS of some Lenovo ThinkCentre M83 PCs and I came across a problem. The Flash UEFI BIOS update (provide by Lenovo) worked almost perfectly on the first PCs, despite it didn?t automatically open the console and started the flashing process.Anyways I did go on with my work. Almost all other PCs had the problem that when the second phase (yellow font)/ afudos.exe imagefb.rom /defans /capsule /b /n /r /sp started the afuwin.exe stopped working (it crashed). It seemed like the Update wouldn?t get done this way so I decided to try it with the USB Flash method, also provided by Lenovo, but it also didn?t work. It says in the second phase ?15 - Error: Secure Flash function is not supported on this platform? Last but not least I tried to update the BIOS with the CD-ISO but when updating with this method it says that the BIOS-Version is too old. Some information about the system: ThinkCenter M83Type: 10BE0003GEOS: Windows 7 SP1 64bitBIOS-Revision: FBKT73AUSBIOS last Updated: 01.April.2014 Furthermore Information what I found out:BIOS-Revision seems to not matter (same version but some worked some not)Doesn?t matter if BIOS is set to UEFI only or Legacy onlySecure Boot also seems like it doesn?t matter if its on or notWhen the afuwin.exe crashes it only writes a return codeI use the update provided by this Page from Lenovo (Update: fbjycpusa)https://pcsupport.lenovo.com/de/de/downloads/ds035753 Thanks... Hi. I have a Lenovo B50-30 mode 80ES. It was set to require a password on startup starting with a capital "A". While experiencing charging problems, amongst other things, I updated the BIOS to 9CCN35WW, downloaded from the Lenovo support site. Since updating, the laptop no longer asks for a password on startup (No big deal, I applied a windows password), however, when pressing F2 to access the BIOS (which I need to do, the F keys are the wrong way round), it asks for a password, When pressing to strike a capital A, the laptop beeps and doesnt enter it. It wont accept capital letters anymore, therefore it wont accept the pre BIOS update password. I have referred the laptop to Lenovo service, including returning the laptop, and they have been nothing short of useless. They said they couldnt repair it under warranty because of "Marks, cracks, inappropriate treatment" and it would cost 255 for a replacement system board. I really couldnt see why I should pay for an issue created by their support system, so I asked them to return it unrepaired. Upon arrival, the laptop was immaculate, so I dont know what damage they were referring to. Is it possible to downgrade the BIOS to a pre update revision, to change the password and then reset it to one the new BIOS approves of? Thankyou in advance.

Right now it is stuck on Legacy Boot and with Legacy as priority but when I try to insert a Linux boot drive it will not allow me to boot from it as it does not even recognize that there is a USB inserted into the USB port. I have tested this will all 3 of the USB ports. When I boot into Windows all 3 ports are fully functional and work with no issues.
I do not know what has happened and I have tried everything that I can possibly think of including desoldering the BIOS battery and resoldering it. (I have not replaced the battery but I didn't think that was a viable solution considering the age of the laptop.

bought this recently, and must say that i am pretty pissed. i did installation of windows 7 on it and it worked fine for some 10 days till it got BSOD cause of bad system info and couldnt even load into windows. only solution was to reinstall. i did fresh install and i got BSOD with fresh install after only few days. checked internet for solution and saw that you could select windows 7 os in bios for optimized settings that should prevent BSOD. but no option for windows 7 in bios. only for win 8 and other OS. i thought ok, i will just download latest bios and flash it. but what happened when i downloaded bios (a2cn38ww) from support page?i got this message "your machine does not match with this bios". so does anyone know where i can actually  download correct bios, or how to contact lenovo support so they can tell me where to download bios?

On an other machine I updated the firmware (BIOS) and that really sped up the start-up time.I want to do the same ting with this one, but it is not possible to get in contact with Lenovo. After typing in my product, all I get is that this machine no longer has warranty. There is no option to go from there, so it all ends in a loop. If I click Drivers and Downloads, I am taken through the same loop. If I click Contact Us, the same loop again. Is it not possible to get drivers and stuff even though the warranty has expired???PLEASE HELP

hi mahdhir2005,

Im sorry to hear that.

I would suggest you call the Lenovo Technical Team regarding the Issue. If it is the BIOS that's causing the issue then there maybe no source or option to have it fixed without they're help or service.

If the BIOS software you downloaded was from a legit Lenovo Site and correct model, then I think It will be ok to Just report them what happened and ask for possible option.

Hope this helped
Thanks!

hello, I got the following issue: After install memory upgrade (from 4gb single module to 8gb two modules) ive got the idea to higher the useable memory for integrated graphic-core of i3 cpu. So I went into bios to those configurations where I highered the memory size to maximum. It where two kinds of. I highered first option from 256mb to 1024mb and second option from 64mb to 512mb. I also changed some other options for experimentation just in this section like background light from pwm to gmbus and a few other options. Dear Members,I am in trouble with my  Idea Pad Z570: I bought it couple of years ago running Windows 7. During the years of usage I had no trouble at all. With Windows 10 beeing released, I upgraded and it starts to make a lot of troubles: Bluescreen directly after boot or sign in, no WiFi, ... all the known stuff. So I decided last week to downgrade to Windows 7. But now, I am even in a bigger trouble:I tried to boot the Windows 7 from DVD and it crashed into Bluescreen saying: Windows Error 0xc0000225Restarting is not helping. So, i tried to go into BIOS to boot from another device, but I do not even get to BIOS or UEFI. So, thats a kind of Deadlock: I cannot boot from Harddisk because Windows Error 0xc0000225 appears and I cannot get into BIOS & UEFI because the Windows error 0xc0000225 comes before getting to BIOS. Hope this description of my current situation is understandable and you guys have a lot of ideas how to fix it. Thanks!TheGooner
