Ideapad 700 Elantech Touchpad Right Click / Popup ...

Q: Ideapad 700 Elantech Touchpad Right Click / Popup ...

I just bought an Ideapad 700 and I love everything about it until I noticed I couldn't bring up a context menu (right click, popup menu, whatever you call it where you are). I tried for nearly 3 hours and the best I came up with was making the 3 finger double tap into the right click menu. Uninstalling the elantech driver and using the Microsoft Windows 10 driver didn't work. I installed the Asus driver and that actually did work for the 2 finger double tap right click, but I hate that too. I just want normal touchpad behavior where you hit the right button area for the context menu. Is there any way to do that behavior, or just have 2 finger single tap? I didn't expect to pay this much for a laptop and spend hours on something this stupid. It's almost becoming a deal-breaker for me.

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

The 100s has no way to disable tap to click on the touchpad. This 'feature' makes it nearly impossible for me to use the touchpad, and I bought this laptop for it to be entirely self contained. The the touchpad uses the microsoft HiD Driver. There is no option to disable tap to click in Windows Settings or the HiD driver in the device manager. Is there any 32bit driver or other solution to disable tap to click?

Thanks

On my HP laptop, updating its Synaptics touchpad driver fixed that exact problem. Elantech may have a similar update. Check laptop mfg's site first, Elantech's site second.

(Note: it is possible that there is a driver update which addresses the issue but makes no mention of the fix in the description. Be sure to create a Restore Point before applying [any] update!)

Hello! A while ago, i had installed win10 on my laptop and was satisfied enough with it. It had some issues with sound latency and touchpad stopped working after about a month without reboot, but in general it worked fine for me. Also touchpad had some cool gestures, such as "continuous dragging" - if i'm dragging a window and my finger get close to the border of touchpad, i could put second finger on touchpad and continue dragging. I was using it quite frequent because it is useful with multiple displays. And it was worked good. Until yesterday.
Windows has decided that it's time for update and in the morning when i turn on my laptop it started updating and after that all began falling apart. I couldn't find this gesture anymore, now when i dragging a window, if second finger touches touchpad, it stop dragging and think i'm trying to scroll, in device manager touchpad displayed as HID mouse, and after 6 hours keyboard stopped work. >.< That's why i "love" microsoft update policy.
I've made a clean install today, tried some touchpad drivers and still missing this gesture. In windows settings all touchpad settings turned on.

Does anyone know how to turn it on?
Thank you and sorry for my bad English.

I noticed that, after installing the touchpad driver (learned that I have the ELANtech touchpad, not the Synaptics one) and rebooted, there were no additional settings for the touchpad anywhere in the Mouse Properties panel. Later that day, I shut down the laptop and it installed some Windows 10 updates, and when I rebooted, I noticed the ELAN tab had suddenly appeared, however my touchpad does not show in the list of devices:Does anyone know how to address this? I would very much like to tweak a few of the settings for the touchpad, but as you can see, even after installing the driver and letting Windows Update partially fix the tab not even appearing, the device is still not listed for whatever reason. I should add this is still a very fresh machine, only used it for maybe a couple hours max, no external devices plugged in (including mice).

Greetings,

I have an Acer Aspire E 17 - ES1-711-P1UV

When I updated my OS from Windows 8 to Windows 10 I noticed that the touchpad stopped working. I connected a USB mouse to the Laptop and that allowed me to have mouse functionality.

I went to Acer's website and entered my serial number and downloaded the drivers that were under Windows 10 - 64-bit.

specifically downloaded

TouchPad ELANTECH Touchpad Driver 13.6.3.1 7.3 MB 2015/07/27

After I downloaded this I double clicked on setup and installed the software. I did not see any errors. I restarted the computer and my touchpad did not work.

I went into the system settings and viewed the Device Manager and noticed there is an Unknown Device. I installed the Unknown Device and scanned to detect new hardware/software and the Unknown Device reappeared.

My TouchPad still did not work.

I contacted Acer and their live support had me do several things and nothing happened. They escalated me to their "Supervisors" and they responded "Contact Microsoft as it sounds like it's an issue with them." and they disconnected. They have GREAT customer service *sarcasm*.

Now I'm stuck without the ability to use the touchpad on my keyboard and also the FN + F7 does not do anything either.

A:Upgraded from Windows 8 - elantech touchpad not even in Device Manager

I don't know about Acer but my Samsung netbook also sports an ELANTECH touchpad and Windows update found a driver for ELANTECH, and installed OK and seems to be fine, did you tried that?
Anyway, this touchpad was detected like a regular PS2 mouse and worked out of the box, except advanced feats like swiping, scrolling etc that worked after said update, strange yours not, maybe chipset drivers?

Hi guys, I hope someone can help me with this:

So I recently upgraded from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10 and I noticed a few issues with the touchpad on my laptop.

1: two finger scrolling no longer works. Now I have to drag one finger on the right edge of the touchpad up and down in order to scroll vertically.

2: I've also noticed the blue loading circle beside the pointer keeps flashing roughly once per second whenever i leave it alone, even if I am not running any programs. I can leave it on the desktop and the blue circle still keeps flashing.

It appears Win 10 installed a new driver called ELAN Input Device. That's what it says when I go to the device manager.

However, when I go to the settings menu>devices>mouse and touchpad>additional mouse options to the mouse properties, there is no way to configure the gestures.

I found out that I have to go to the Elantech folder in program files and run the ETDAniConf application and that brings up the gesture customization menu. However, when I run the program the option for two finger scrolling, pinch zoom, etc. are checked on, as is the default. There is no option for one finger right side scrolling like I mentioned earlier. And, as I said, the blue circle keeps flashing when idle.

My laptop is a MSI GT60 running Windows 10 upgraded from 8.1 which was updated from 8.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. To sum up, ELAN is messing up my touchpad and the pointer loading circle keeps flashing when idle... Read more

Hi
Running Win10 on an Acer E5-511-C46Y.
I have an Elantech touchpad which every so often (maybe weekly) decides it's no longer going to do tap to click (my preferred setting) and is going to behave as though I am clicking and dragging the whole time. So I have to click instead of tap. It's mighty annoying.
I have done all the obvious things - driver up to date, BIOS version is the latest, settings are fine and disabling/enabling has no impact. The only cure seems to be turning the computer off and on again (who knew?!)
Acer say reset, but suspect that's the recommendation for every unsolved issue.
Is there a way to restart touchpad and reload all the drivers (essentially, to do what the laptop would do when rebooting) but without restarting?
Many thanks in advance...

Hi,

We would suggest you to first uninstall the touch pad driver and then restart the system install the latest drivers from the Dell site .
Use the link for the latest drivers :www.dell.com/.../diagnose
Once the drivers are update check if works fine.
Kindly private message the service tag and email address.

Firstly: I've read the sticky and know that you have to run the hijack analyser.
I've downloaded this, but haven't run yet - just being paranoid.
I'm hoping my problem can be solved without having to run the program.
I'd rather not run, unless I have to!

IE: when I clcik (even on a non link) it launches a popup.
This popup comes 5% of the time.
Each time it's a popup leading to the SAME damn website.

I am very very very careful with my PC.
I've got a virus checker and a firewall.
I never run anything I don't know.
And any files I do have to run, I run through Virus Total first.

So: I'm a bit confused how I would have got this spyware/spamware installed on my PC?

I've tried clearing the cache, but this doesn't do anything.
I've run the virus and spamware checker and it doesn't find anything.
(I suppose I should mention: I have Nortons.)

What can I do?
If the only option is to run the hijack analyser, then I'll do this after getting a reply.

Thanks.

Basic story is that I bought my lenovo laptop about a year ago. I was excited when I received it, however, I quickly realized that the right mouse click button did not work correctly. You have to press it very hard and it regularly fails to work. As far as I can tell from reading around, the synaptics version of the pad had issues that were resolved by a driver update. Has there been any sort of fix for the ELAN version? I've tried both uninstalling and reinstalling the latest drivers available (as far as I can tell) to no benefit. Would really love to get this fixed so that I can use this laptop as intended.

I've received a shiny new ThinkPad T470 today, a much needed upgrade from my T410. Should the bottom left & right corners of the touchpad actually physically "click" when pressed, or is it purely a tap-sensitive device? The touchpad seems to be lower by 1-2mm at the bottom end than at the top end, it doesn't sit flush at the bottom whereas it's level with the main chassis at the top.

Should the bottom left & right corners of the touchpad actually physically "click" when pressed, or is it purely a tap-sensitive device? Yes, or at least mine does, and it works. The touchpad seems to be lower by 1-2mm at the bottom end than at the top end, it doesn't sit flush at the bottom whereas it's level with the main chassis at the top. Mine is slightly below the main chassis on all 4 sides, and the same depth on all 4 sides.

Is there a way to enable a key or something to right click using the touchpad, sorta like a mac? It could be a keyboard key, 2 fingers idc.

A:Right Click with Synapsis touchpad?

There are probably programs out there that can substitute a key such as Alt to perform right click functions, but I've never heard of them.

As far as the multi-touch functionality goes, unless your touchpad has multi-touch, there's no way to enable it. It's not entirely a software function, it also relies on hardware. This is why you can use multi-touch with some touchpads and not with others. It's also why a Macbook Pro's touchpad has more multi-touch features on the OS X side than on the Windows 7 side.

I bought a brand new Windows 10 ACER Aspire E5 series laptop computer back in February. I have not had any issues at all with it. But today I have this very annoying issue. When I lightly tap my touchpad on links instead of opening the link like it had been doing previously all it does is highlight the link and drag it all over the screen. The same issue happens when I try to switch tabs. It locks onto the tab and I have to click again for it to release. This is very annoying when all I'm wanting to do is switch tabs.

My touchpad is one of those multigester ones and I have turned off the following options

I don't know why it started doing this today. I also have clicklock turned off under additional mouse options.

A:Touchpad not working on ideapad 300. How do I fix ...

Hi there, Tom ?

Thank you for writing in to the Lenovo Forum - happy to have you here today.

Just found the same problem with my Ideapad 500. Touch pad completely non responsive.
Under start menu, settings, devices, mouse & touchpad, additional mouse options, elan tab. The elan touchpad settings were completely grayed out and unavailable.

So from there I went to the window search in the task bar and typed in "computer management? and opened the computer management desktop app. Under device manager selected mice and other pointing devices and then elan input device. In the elan properties window that opened I selected uninstall to uninstall the driver and in the next box that opened warning that the driver was about to be uninstalled l checked the delete driver and then OK.
Then restarted windows. In the process of restarting windows detected the elan touchpad as a new device and installed the driver in time for the login screen. So my elan touch pad is now working again.

I am assuming that the driver had been corrupted in the upgrade from Windows 8.1 to 10

Touchpad driver for windows 10
Touchpad driver for windows 8.1

Update us how it goes.

Hello, I purchased a Lenovo IdeaPad 310-151SK (non-touchscreen).  Other than an extremely awkward placement of the up arrow key and Shift key, I like it.  But there are two reoccuring problems which I can't solve, which may or may not be related. 1) Periodocally, the pointer gets a mind of its own...  it moves erratically, opens and closes windows (as if the buttons left/right buttons are being clicked), jumps around, barely (if at all) responses to motions on the touchpad.  But if I wait 15 to 60 seconds, everything returns to normal.  It's strange.  Waiting for a bit is the only solution.  This happens about once every two hours of usage, not enough to cause real problems, but enough to be annoying.  No apparent  correlation with system utilization, time since boot, etc. 2) Also periodically, the computer hangs.  I can move the mouse cursor, but that's it.  Clicking doesn't get a menu, even on the desktop. In fact, everything with the computer, except the cursor, 'pauses'/freezes for 20-30 seconds. Then it returns to normal.  No correlation with the event above either. I have tried updating drivers.  I have watched for some event that proceeds the two events.  Frustratingly, the latest driver, from Lenovo website, for the ELAN touchpad causes Win10 to bluescreen, so I have rolled back to previous driver (related/separate issue? why is that driver even posted on the Lenovo official webs... Greetings. I have a brand new Ideapad 320-15IAP laptop - actually two of them! One is just fine the other has a problem with the touchpad. Both have had Windows deleted and Ubuntu 16.04 LTS installed. One of the laptops has normal touchpad function except when trying to drag (pressing the left click and moving the cursor with the touchpad). Once the left click is pressed, the touchpad will not move the cursor. A USB mouse works normally on the malfunctioning laptop. Since the other identical laptop works fine and both were upgraded to Ubuntu in the same hour, and USB mouse works OK; it is clearly neither a driver issue nor an OS issue. But here are my questions: 1) how do I request service to repair this touchpad?2) preliminary checks suggest I would have to ship it to the USA, but can that be correct? Does Lenovo provide a shipping authorization?3) Since Lenovo support seems to be software-focused, how will the presence of Ubuntu OS affect my prognosis? I did not see any information with the laptop when I purchased it requiring that I retain Windows as my OS to retain warranty coverage - did I miss some small print somewhere? Thank you for your kind assistance!
