Problem with Type C Firmware Yoga 920-13IKB AND VMWare 14.1.1

Q: Problem with Type C Firmware Yoga 920-13IKB AND VMWare 14.1.1

While the firmware has fixed HDMI output, it seems to have broken my Type-C Ethernet adapter within a VMWare virtual machine. I am trying to use a Plugable Model USBC-E1000 INSIDE my Windows 10 Virtual Machine; NOT via bridging. This has worked in the past. USB 3.0 Ethernet adapters are working. Anyone else having this problem? Lenovo?

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

After updating brand new Yoga 910 with WIndows updates, AND firmware 1.39.00.00 Windows asks to restart this one every time. Even it installed several other times the same update, it keeps on telling me it has to restart to finish. Then once it restarts, says during the boot below the Lenovo image - system updating, but it never updates it. And then again in Windows asks for restart, ,... just a vicious loop! How can I remove this firmware update for good?

I bought the Yoga 720 13IKB Type 81C3 - Model 81C3005LPG - last week to use it for photo edit and I noticied that the screen have strong yellowish tint.I tried to find a calibrated ICM (or ICC) color profile on the vga_drivers folder but could not find it.Also tried to use the windows 10 color calibration tool with no satisaftory results. I'm really disapointed and before start to tell the world on photo forums that this laptop is not suited to photo edit because of this super strong yellowish tint screen I decided to ask here if any members of the comunity or the Lenovo support team have any ICM color profile file that minimizes it.Note that this model have the BOE06FA panel and not the LG (like some USA models I believe). Thanks in advanceHugo Veríssimo

Hi guys. I recently bought new laptop (yoga 910) and don't properly understand its RAM specs. All oficial docs said that laptop have 16 Gb ddr4 2133 MHz, but tests (Speccy and CPU-z) shows that RAM have only 664MHz for one channel (16.0GB Dual-Channel Unknown @ 664MHz (10-10-10-28)). I heard that using XMP settings in BIOS I can change memory speed, but I can't find it. So, the questions are: does Lenovo downgraded RAM in all laptops and other users have the same specs, if yes, then how to change it (1200 MHz is less then DDR3 speed), else, what should I do next, is it something wrong with my laptop?

Hi All, I've got a Yoga 910-13IKB with a 4k and have also bought a 27 inch 2560 x 1440 pixels monitor to use as my second screen, I'm using an usb-c addapter to connect it. My question is about playing a low requirements game like hearthstone on the laptop screen while having a browser with a few tabs on the extenson, is it supposed to move so slow? Is it because it is heating up? *temperature reaches between 70-80 C. Performance wise it dose not look to be overloaded, but now even typing on the second screen is laggy. I don't mind the sound of the fan, but the temperature and the slow performance is concerning. Thank you! Kind regards,Robert

I bought my wife a Lenovo Yoga 720-13IKB about a year ago and it has always had trouble connecting to the internet. We are now living overseas (in the Khalij) and her computer barely ever detects the WiFi network at all! This happened occasionally in the US but we could connect it via Ethernet so it wasn't really a problem. But it's pretty much unusable here because of the crap WiFi card, frequency, or whatever in the machine. I've seen some posts asking for help with SLOW internet but her computer almost NEVER gets signal or, if it does see the network, it cannot connect. PLEASE, can anyone help?!?!? Joshua

Will appreciate help - I am alarmed that most of my document files have suddenly disappeared from the desktop and, seemingly, the hard disk.  This laptop is eight months old and I initially suspected a "cloak of invisibility" problem while awaiting a software update.  Random individual files and folders appeared in the recycle bin, but most have disappeared completely.  Virus scan and hardware scan have not identified any problems or out of date software.  I did receive a completely blank email today before this happened (no visible sender, no subject line) - not opened - which is suspicious.  Researching this online, I see several related queries about icons disappearing from the desktop, but am doubtful that my issue is the same.   Still unsure if this is a Lenovo update issue or a virus disaster.   Any suggestions?    Many thanks!

For those looking for ICC profiles for their UHD Yoga 910. I found one on a review site which could be installed through Windows 10 Color Management App. The colors with this profile are way more vibrant and makes the black more, well, black. I love it! Not a graphic designer or any expert like that so my opinions could be worthless. You can find the ICC Profile file on the "Display" part of the review linked below. Hello everyone,  I recently purchased a Lenovo Yoga 720 13IKB. I've only have the unit for about three (3) weeks and the batter is no longer able to charge when connected to the power supply that came with the unit. I checked the AC adapter to make sure that it was properly connected to PC and it was. I plugged it to different outlets and it didn't help. I bought a replacement powersupply from my local MicroCenter and still nothing. I checked the Control Panel, open up the Power Options to see if there were any settings in there but nothing to show why it wasn't chraging. Then Opened the Device Manager. Under "Batteries" I saw two items, one for the battery and another listed as "Microsoft ACPI Compliant Control Method Battery". I Opened each item, which will brought up the Properties window. Under the "Driver" tab looked for "Update Driver." I went through the two options and did the same process of updating drivers. I went through the driver update process for all options. Once the drivers are all up to date, I rebooted the laptop and plug it in again. Then i unninstalled "Microsoft ACPI Compliant Control Method Battery" completely and reboot. Still the problem persists.  I even updated all the windows Updates. Then I opened Lenovo's Companion app. I updated all the drivers that need updating and nothing changed. I still have my PC connected to AC power and the battery isn't charging. I opened the lenovo setting app and checked under battery section... Read more

A:Lenovo Yoga 720 13IKB No longer charging

Is it not charging at all, or just stuck at around 60%.    I ask because there i an option in Energy Management to select Maximum Battery Life, or Optimized Battery Health, and if set the latter (which I believe is the default), it will only charge to about 60 percent of capacity in an attempt to prolong the life of the battery.    Setting it to Maximum battery life will allow the batter to charge to 100% and you will get a longer run time, but you may have to replace the battery sooner.     If you leave the laptop usually plugged in, then optimized batter health is the better option. Cheers,

I am going to detail my experience connecting my brand new Lenovo Yoga 920-13IKB-80Y70063US to my also brand new LG 43UD79-B 43" Class 4K UHD IPS LED Monitor which has a USB-C port in addition to its 2xHMDI/DP/2xUSB3.0 ports. First of all , it works! I get both power delivery and am able to extend the screen onto the monitor in 4K resolution using one USB-C cable. I am writing here to help others, but also because there is a power cycling order in which it does not work, which I would like to know if someone knows what it is. If I play with it enough, I get back to making it work again, but have not figured out the order of rebooting, connecting and disconnecting cables where it consistently works. Power delivery is always working through the cable, the monitor extension is what I have to play to get it working. OK, so here are the steps I need to get these to to work together: 1 - After unboxing Yoga 920, run windows update and reboot several times until it says there is nothing else to update. (windows 10) 2 - Used Google Chrome as Web browser 3 - Go onto LG website to update Drivers/Software:http://www.lg.com/us/support-product/lg-43UD79-B#manuals43UD79 Win10 R3 Driver LG_ULTRA_HD.zip 36K[Windows] OnScreen Control - version 2.82 Win_OSC_2.82.zip 111138K 4 - Purchase USB-C to USB-C CableThis one worked for me :https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01L0F6IK4[USB-IF Certified] Cable Matters USB 3.1 Type-C (10 Gbps) Gen 2 Cable with 4K Video & Po... I picked up a 13 inch FHD Lenovo Yoga 720 (720-13IKB) and love absolutely everything about it except some extremely bad ghosting / screen tearing. I first noticed it when I loaded up Spelunky, where it is incredibly obvious because of how fast the character can run left and right. I've tried everything to figure this out - adjusted Intel graphics settings, researched vsync settings, updated drivers, turned off Windows effects, played with executable compatibility settings, and so on and so forth. Nothing seems to help. I noted in the other "display issues" thread that the panel ended up being the culprit, a BOE panel. This panel is also a BOE - BOE06FA. I found one mention of this on notebookcheck regarding screen brightness. They note a "panel lottery" going on with this model, where some get LG panels and some are getting BOE panels. Everything else seems fine (no line). I would really love it if there were some fix I've overlooked, but I thought I would ask here if anyone else is experiencing this on this model, and if they've gotten it fixed if so. Is it possilbe to send it in for repair and request or get a different panel? Really, really don't want to have to return it, but also can't have a machine that will give me a headache playing Spelunky!

Hello, Recently my CEO had bought a Lenovo Yoga 910-13IKB. It came with win10 preinstalled. I had worked on it for about 10 minutes and than the problem showed up: our local WiFi network dissapeared. I immediatelly took my laptop and searched for WiFi networks but no there was no my SSID at all. Then I had restarted WiFi router and network showed Up, but as soon Yoga connected, same again no network. I googled for solution and I did uninstall EMC and Lenovo Utility but that did not resolved the problem. Then I had tried to uninstall all drivers and than download and install them again but still the problem is there. Wherever Yoga connects WiFi dies. I found that some routers recognize something like DDos attack and so I dissabled that option on routers but again problem is there. Please can u give me solution to this problem because my CEO thinks that I am not capable of doing my Job (IT technician/Network administrator). Best wishes Adis

I am wondering what the best choice is to squeeze the best performace out of this NVMe SSD. Some say chance the bios setting to ACHI and some say use Intel RST Premium.  I read this post from reddit:The issue is that Lenovo was making use of a disgustingly ugly hack to make it appear that a NVMe device was attached through an ACHI controller. Intel apparently added this functionality to recent chipsets as a shortcut to adding NVMe support to their fake RAID system. This feature is mostly undocumented and completely unwanted by anyone running Linux or using OS-provided software RAID under Windows instead of Intel's software RAID. So far, Intel has not convinced the relevant Linux kernel developers to add the necessary hacks to the Linux NVMe and AHCI drivers. In any normal situation, a motherboard firmware setting for AHCI vs RAID vs IDE modes has nothing to do with PCIe SSDs, because they do not connect through SATA ports. There are no PCIe SSDs on the market that the user can toggle between NVMe and AHCI, though there are still some AHCI PCIe SSDs that are based on the same hardware as their NVMe equivalents and are simply configured in the factory (permanently) as AHCI devices instead of NVMe. If a machine purports to offer a firmware option to change between AHCI and NVMe modes, it is lying to you about what that option means. If the choice is between AHCI and RAID modes but it affects PCIe SSDs, then selecting ACHI mode probably means the system will operate in a... Read more

The adapter cannot keep a 2.4 GHZ connection and has trouble with wired and wireless at the same time and is missing all advanced settings allowing you to turn off 2.4, etc... I will return my laptop unless this is fixed. This is a fundemental issue with the chipset and design.1. The adapter has no advanced settings. It has been stripped of all the standard configurations.2. I have watched this driver from a monitoring computer standpoint and on 2.4 networks it loses connections all the time and sometimes will get into a connection loop when there is hard wire and wireless are on at the same time.3. When both adapters are enabled it does not work well at all.4. Signal strength / antenna performance is terrible. Side by side comparison with other devices shows bad performance. -50 vs -90 etc... a big swing in signal strength. There needs a new driver with ALL ADVANCED SETTINGS - for example prefer 5GHZ networks.no settings

That's saying a lot coming from a previous Mac user... Anyway, I was looking around today while trying to get the fan issue resolved and I noticed that the Full Charge Capacity (FCC) of the battery is only 75410mwh, while the actual Designed Capacity is meant to be 78000mwh. It is about a 4% performance decrease basically right out of the box, is that normal? I only ask because I originally bought the FHD/i7/8gb/256ssd version, before exchanging it for the upgraded unit due to liking it so much, and noticed that the FCC on the original one was actually 80102mwh, quite a bit higher than the designed capacity. Not sure if there is a setting preventing the PC to charge to the full amount or what? Maybe I just got a battery with lower ratings? Any help would be MUCH apppreciated!
