July update rollup KB3172605 to replace June's KB3161608

Q: July update rollup KB3172605 to replace June's KB3161608

Download links were dead so check back later,

I have uploaded the 2 required updates to my OneDrive KB3020369 & KB3172605 both 32 and 64 bit for each

Win-7 32 bit,
Win-7 64 bit,

The July 2016 update rollup includes some new improvements and fixes including the improvements from June 2016 update roll up KB3161608 for the Windows 7 SP1 and 2008 R2 SP1 platform. We recommend that you apply this update rollup as part of your regular maintenance routines.

The catalog download works though
You do have to use Internet explorer to download from the catalog,
Microsoft Update Catalog

Preferred Solution: July update rollup KB3172605 to replace June's KB3161608

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

A: July update rollup KB3172605 to replace June's KB3161608

Looks like they added a Known issue to the link

Known issues in this update

Issue 1

After you install KB 3133977, the software for Intel Bluetooth devices may not be fully functional because of existing software issues in the Intel Bluetooth driver software. These issues may affect Bluetooth keyboards, mice, audio streaming devices, and voice headsets. You may also not be able to pair new Bluetooth devices. Intel is currently working on an update to address their software incompatibilities.

If you require Intel Bluetooth support on Windows 7 before the revised software is available, the only known workaround at this time is to uninstall this update temporarily and then reinstall it after Intel has updated their software.

for half a year Windows Update doesn't find any updates on my system, I had to install them manually. I set up the system new, same problem. I installed about 170 updates manually (silent batch installation). Automatic Windows Update still searches for a
day and more, doesn't find anything and the Windows Update Service is blocking the system with constant processor usage of 50%. Now there is a rollup that shall fix this problem but it cannot be installed. I tried to install it manually. Error 2149842967 "This
update is not compatible with your computer" (translated from German). It is the correct msu-file for my system Windows 7 SP1 Professional 64 bit.
What may be the problem and what can I do to resolve it?
Thank you in advance.

What is the verdict on MSKB3161608 - June 2016 update rollup for Windows 7 SP1 and Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1?

I see that MSKB3161608 includes quite a few patches, including MSKB3161647 - Windows Update Client for Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2: June 2016. In the past, I think some people mentioned MS possibly slipping in some Win10 crap with patches to the Windows Update Client.

For Windows 7 SP1 systems that will not be "upgraded" to Windows 10, does MSKB3161608 (or MSKB3161647) include any nasties, Win10 garbage, or MS-suprises?

For Windows 7 SP1 systems that will not be "upgraded" to Windows 10, is MSKB3161608 a recommended install?

A:What is the verdict on MSKB3161608 - June 2016 update rollup?

Hi SevenOfNine

(So, you are referring to Star Trek Voyager)

Actually, you still can upgraded to Windows 10 as this will end on July 2016, as announce.
I refuse to install, as i am used to Windows 7.

I think you can do it, because it keep showing when going to MSN website.
Try it, as it may works.

Sometimes i don't understand why people so like to do update this patch that so on....
When it is good and ready, Windows update will push to your pc, definitely.
You can go > Start --> Windows update, then it pop-up to remind to upgrade to Windows 10 (was downloaded into my pc.)

Good morning ladies and gentlemen,
Over the past couple of days I have been troubleshooting a problem were a web based HTTPS secured password manager hosted internally on a RedHat server would only work from some workstations. After some investigation I identified KB3172605 as a cause for
this problem. I am by no means a programmer or web expert - but after installing this update the website started working again. There is a Microsoft support article mentions something about TLS and SHA being effected. We will have to reinstall this update
at some point again, and I was hoping I could get some guidance on how to make this website work
with the update installed.
My first thought was to maybe exchange the self-signed certificate on the web service I am trying to reach, but in my organization that is quite a process - so before I start with this maybe you could give me some pointers?

Thank you for your help!
Best Regards!

Hello there everyone,
I encountered a serious issue after installing the latest Monthly Rollup from June 2019 on our Windows 7 clients.
Apparently, we can no longer add nor edit already existing scheduled tasks that have been created with AT commands. However, the already existing scheduled tasks appear to execute with no problem, so the functionality is still given.
I double- and even triple checked it through uninstalling the coresponding KB article. Thereafter, I still wasn't able to add new AT Scheduled Tasks through GUI, but it worked through our scripts and regular cmd-use without any problems. Plus, the pre-existing
AT-jobs continued to work on, regardless of the KB-Article KB-4503292 being installed or uninstalled on the systems. When trying to add a new AT-job into scheduled task, the Scheduled Task Manager GUI sends a message of an unexpected knot. The job does
not appear in the GUI, either. It's merely represented with the Error message. Deleting it through CMD is still possible, which clears the Scheduled Task Manager off of the Error Message.
Since I wasn't able to find anything conclusive online regarding this issue, I am seriously hoping someone here has any idea about this occurance. I am well aware AT is rather old and got sort of replaced through other means and commands (such as schtasks).
Since AT wasn't even an option anymore to select from the GUI for quite some time now, I can only assume at this point this is some... Read more

Our practice for a while due to network limitations has been to apply Security-only updates.  We've noticed some issues with NIC drivers in the April and May Updates that we've seen fixes in the Rollups addressing, but not necessarily the Security
Our intent was to apply the next rollup, but MS is saying that a rollup from March 2019 or earlier must be applied first.  The indication is that PCIClearCache is no longer included.
1) We notice that PCIClearCache is available from the MS Security downloads
2) When we download and attempt to apply the full Mach 2019 rollup, we get a failure that indicates a user is not logged on (we do this with a user logged on) and assume there's another source of that error related to a later update having been applied.
Is there a know issue preventing what we're trying?  Alternatively is there a problem with applying the PCIClearCache that can be downloaded on its own then applying the next Rollup?

A:Urgent - Windows 7 Update Service Update June 19 2012

I called Microsoft just now.
They established a remote session directly to my PC.
After verification that my OS is legit etc. they had a look at this.

They recommend that I reinstall Windows from one of their ISO images
and not from the HP recovery partition.

The guy said he wouldn't trust that update as there is the information link

I only can do what he says, downloading that 3 GB ISO and burn the DVD
and reinstall Windows.

So, if you get the SAME looking update, my advise is as his.
Don't install that update.

yesterday we we got an additional basic mini PC for use in the lounge tv via eBay. Started setting it up etc. I noted the Windows 10 version on it was so old that it actually updated to the TH1 10586 last night. After a few added cumulative updates etc it was done and said it was upto date. So it stopped short of offering the new anniversary / redstone update. Presume this is because 30 days haven't elapsed since the last major update ie. Yesterday? I'm happy to wait for Windows update to crank into gear after elapsed period but just wanted to check that was the case

These may or may not be associated, but after installing the NT update rollup package, my firewall starting asking permission for services.exe and spoolsv.exe to access the net, which I denied, after which I couldn't access my homepage or send/receive email. This computer is wireless to router and the other is wired to router and could access the net. Several reboots and tries later I allowed them and everything seemed fine.

Being suspicious of malware/spyware/trojans/virus I ran my AV, Ad-aware, M$ antispyware, M$ malicious software removal tool and nothing has shown up. Just for grins I checked running processes and I had two spooler.exe, six instances of either services.exe or SERVICES.EXE running. These are gone now, but I still have three svchost.exe running.

1. Why would services.exe and spoolsv.exe need to access the internet?
2. Why would I have more than one of the above programs running at the same time?

All apps are up-to-date and I have run several scans which come back negative.

Hi, I just got an pop-up from windows updater saying that I should download this roll-up for service pack 4. I have been running win2k for a long time now and have had very few problems....until downloading this rollup. After installing it, it stated that I needed to reboot... this is where the problem started. my comp will get past the bio stage and then the windows 2000 screen comes up and loads. Then it goes to (what looks like ) the begining of the login screen and boot up and be fine but then my HD just seems to shut Down and start all over again. I Have tried to start it in safe mode with no luck and i have also tried it from the last safe boot and still with no luck. I still have my win2k cd and i am able to get into c:\winnt but i dont know where to go from there. Is there anyway that i can just delete what this rollup package just installed on my comp? Or do i need to just re-install the OS and lose everything that is on my HD?

I am on my friends wireless labtop and i am able to have internet access right next to my comp..

Got a new PC with Win 7 Pro+ SP 1 already installed.
I believe some past Win 7 updates were done by the company I bought it from
But I think there were / are still a lot of updates to be added
Windows Update is hanging on 'Checking for updates'

I was thinking it might be best to just install the new July 2016 Rollup update, however...
Can I install the rollup update on top of whatever Win 7 updates have already been added to this PC?
Will the rollup update installer know which ones are already on the pc and ignore them?
Or will the previous updates interfere with the rollup update and screw up my pc?

Thanks for any advice and / or best steps to take for getting my new pc fully updated (sans Win 10 )

A:Can Win 7 rollup update be installed over past updates

Hi Metroid, it is okay to install the July rollup. This is MS new way of delivering recommended updates for that month. Instead of delivering them as separate updates they just all get bundled into one package now. It won't include security updates though, or updates that were released before MS switched to this method. So you still might have some to install after the rollup has been installed.

On one of the Windows 7 PC's that I'm administering, an error occurs since the monthly rollup update of March.

To be more specific: I have 2 problems:
1. (general) formerly, when an update didn't fit a machine, you could hide this one and go further with your update-life; now, because of the cumulative character, the problem is repeated in the monthly rollup since then, so I can't solve it with this strategy
(and I can't think of anything else to get around it, except disabling updates at all)
2. (specific) then rests the conflict itself and I searched the internet for somebody who had the same problem, no luck; it seems that my Intel RAID1 (recent driver) crashes just before the logonscreen, the PC reboots, undoing the update(s) and the (hardware)
RAID1 is recovering itself, taking 2-3 hours.
Standard procedures like clean boot, reset WU etc. didn't work out; and yes, I followed the Windows update troubleshooter, it concludes after all steps I need to go to Windows 10 - but Windows 7 is supported until 2020 and do I know the problem will stay
away, even when migrating? (rhetorical question)

Hey All, Yet another question.

I'm on Qosmio E10 with MCE 2004.
When I go to "Windows Update" i see an item called "Update Rollup 1 for eHome Infrared Receiver for Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005" ( KB888795 )
It is optional and I didn't install it yet because I'm unsure if i'm supposed to install it at all since i'm on MCE 2004.

I've read another thread on this board saying that this udpate completely screwed the infrared receiver on some configuration.

So, question: Does Toshiba recommend to install this MCE 2005 update on a MCE 2004 installation?

(i was surprised that it shows up in Windows Update despite my MCE being 2004..., maybe a bug from Microsoft?)

A:E10: Update Rollup 1 for eHome Infrared Receiver for Win XP MCE 2005

My opinion is: don?t touch a running system unless you are talking about a security update......but MS is recommending the update, so you can do the update but it is at your own risk......as far as I know, Toshiba only support the software they deliver with the unit.....not necessarily MS Update.
In this case you can try to run the update. If something going wrong you have a possibility to roll back the OS with the restore tool.

Kaspersky Labs noted this Sobig worm is new in it's use of zipped files:
Separating Sobig.e from its four predecessors is its use of the Zip file format, what it does after system infection is virtual identical to past Sobig variants. Sobig.e getting around as a Zip file is a significant twist because while company gateways often filter out potentially dangerous file formats such as .exe, .vbs and .scr files, the .zip format is rarely scrutinized by businesses. Indeed past Sobig variants would have usually never made it past company gateways.

Several months ago I was having bad problems with Windows Update. I finally got ahold of Microsoft's remote service. They had it fixed in an hour (LogMeIn is the service that some folks in India take over your system). Anyway they fixed it and ever since it has worked perfectly, until now. I've tried manual installs and read about and tried several fixes with no results. I have tried several days to get the July update. Could never get them found by windows update. Today I installed KV3172605. Then the update started, I didn't see the actual KB updates, until after the updates finished and rebooted.
Here is what was installed.
Net Framework-4.5
I have Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit Service Pack 1
This is such a problem every month now. I do have windows 10 on a desk top, but I don't like it. I didn't update my Sony Vaio, because because Sony said they were not updating the drivers, and windows 10 may cause problems on my laptop.
Thanks for all your help, I appreciate it.

Hi, I regularly update the bios and the firmware. The latest July update (Thunderbolt, Intel Management 1914.12.0.1255) caused a lot of problems:- BSOD caused by DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE (IRP timeout) which points to the "MEIx64" (Intel Management Interface driver) After rebooting:- The original Power Supply from Lenovo not being recognized- A USB3 docking statation not being recognized as a valid peripheral (no ethernet port could be used) And another reboot:- The ACPI driver being disabled- The Windows Hello face recognition driver being disabled Could you please push Intel for upgrading to a stable driver please? Going on stage with those problems is embarassing for me, Lenovo and Intel. Best Edit: I am talking about X1 Carbon 6th with Bios 1.38
