Dr.Web Anti-virus service users can now enjoy the most cutting-edge technologies of Dr.Web 11

Q: Dr.Web Anti-virus service users can now enjoy the most cutting-edge technologies of Dr.Web 11

Russian anti-virus company Doctor Web has updated Dr.Web Agent for Windows in the service Dr.Web Anti-virus. Now users can benefit from all the innovations incorporated into Dr.Web series 11 products for Windows, including technologies that provide enhanced protection against attacks that exploit zero-day vulnerabilities. The anti-virus also boasts a significant performance boost.

Innovations in Dr.Web Agent for Windows version 11

Anti-exploit protection prevents malware from using software vulnerabilities when trying to take over an operating system. Fine-tune the Preventive Protection to control access to objects for trusted applications and thus avoid system conflicts. In addition, the Preventive Protection settings now include the option to create profiles.
Dr.Web Scanning Engine routines have been optimised to ensure that possible threats are detected faster.
Dr.Web Scanner SE?s graphical user interface (GUI) has been completely redesigned?settings for the scanner are now included in with the general anti-virus settings, making it easier to manage.
Statistics on the activities undertaken by the anti-virus are now gathered and stored. Filters provide easy, instant access to events involving specific components or to the list of Parental Control-blocked sites that users have attempted to access.
New Parental Control features include:

The new option Interval time limit lets parents specify the amount of time that their children can spend on the computer. At night (the time period involved can be defined manually) computer access is blocked automatically.
You can now either block access to files and folders completely or grant read-only access.
Profiles can now be used to adjust Time-limit settings.
Settings can be imported between user accounts.
The Parental Control can be disabled for a specific account.
To enable access to files and folders, there is no longer any need to clear the list of blocked objects or disable the Parental Control.
A new website category called Online games has been introduced; access to it can be blocked.

New Quarantine Manager administrative features ensure that quarantined objects are rescanned and backups are displayed, allowing users to restore deleted or cured files, if necessary.
The new Dr.Web HyperVisor component, which runs on the lowest system level, greatly enhances threat detection and neutralisation and guarantees that all malware attempts (including malware that has yet to be discovered) to infiltrate the protected system or disrupt Dr.Web's operation will be thwarted.
Managing whitelists of blocked devices is easier than ever: you can configure permissions for specific users or groups. Two access modes are now available for devices with a file system: ?Allow all? and ?Read-only?.
Updating the Dr.Web Control Service and the SpIDer Agent for Windows component no longer requires a restart.
A separate pop-up notification about the need to restart the system after threats have been neutralised has been added; it is only displayed after the neutralisation of complex threats that can?t be removed unless the system is rebooted. A blocked device notification has been added to the settings for the option to block the use of specific devices.
Anti-spam settings are now available alongside SpIDer Mail settings.
A new option has been added to protect against BadUSB (for devices that emulate keyboards).
Virus database updating can be run manually in the mobile mode.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Thanks for sharing. Will do some tests on my Virtual Machine
e.g.

what's about the compatibility on using Dr.Web's ShellGuard with HitmanPro.Alert - if it should work together, that should be the new anti-exploit monster
how shellguard protects without the signaturebased antivirus-engine (if it can be deactivated separately)
what's about the performance (copying, archiving, unarchiving and downloading big files)

Hi

Ive searched around for this problem and not been able to find a solution. All of a sudden my computer (running Win7) started to get stuck after the login screen and wouldn't load a desktop. I have now managed to load a desktop but only by disabling the "Windows Activation Technologies Service" in MS Config. I have tried running a windows repair but to no avail. Any advice would be gratefully appreciated.

I have been happily running Media Centre on a media centre PC.

Recently, Media Centre has started to subtly stretch the image, cutting the right and left edge off the image.

At first I thought it was my television, but all the menu items are all within the display. it is only the DVD image itself that is stretching.

The problem has become quite annoying so I now play my DVDs through WMP or PowerDVD but I cannot use my Media Centre remote for those programs.

Any idea of a fix?

I cannot find any relevant display controls in settings.

A:Display cutting edge off image

Have just taken 2photos to confirm the issue. Don't know how to upload them to the Thad but it confirms Media Centre is displaying a very different picture to WMP. I went through the display setup again, changed nothing as it was all in order. Only affects DVD playback.

Very weird.

I just got Kaspersky pro installed on my Windows XP Pro machine and right away it found the Lovescan worm. I knew i had a worm because the other night i turned off my firewall for just a few minutes and i got this RPC failure popup that shut down my machine after 60 seconds. I had to do a Ctrl Alt Delete and shut down the file in processes before Kaspkersky was able to delete it.

Anyways my main question here really has nothing to do with that. Kaspersky is reported corrupted files. I just did a scan a few minutes ago and it found 4. One of them was the new AIM Messenger install file that was located on my desktop. I believe i remember reading a while back that Kaspersky finds several corrupted files but they aren't really corrupted or something. So are these files really corrupted or is Kaspersky just confused? What do i need to worry about Kaspersky finding, just Virus's and ignore the rest?

A:Kaspersky Anti-Virus Users

It had 6 listed earlier but i just ran virus scan and it shows 4. These are the files that are showing up as "corrupted" in kasperky.

C:\Documents and Settings\burningrave101\Desktop\AIM Messenger 5.5.3583.exe
C:\Documents and Settings\burningrave101\Desktop\AIM Messenger 5.5.3583.exe
C:\Documents and Settings\burningrave101\Local Settings\Temp\GLB29.tmp
C:\Program Files\Gigabyte\ITE Raid Driver Setup\WIN2K_XP\iteraid.sys

I renamed the AIM messenger file from Install_AIM.exe to that back before i ever even run Kaspersky. I dont guess that has anything to do with it though.

And i found this information on Kaspersky "corrupted" files.

Kaspersky Anti-Virus has found a corrupted file, what does this mean?

A corrupted file is a file which contains different information than Kaspersky Anti-Virus is expecting. A corrupted file does not point to a viruscontamination.Click to expand...

I have a Dell 1710n printer in a school environment. We have Windows XP. When we try to print reports from a web based program this printer cuts off the right side about an 1/8". If I print to a Dell 5200n printer it doesn't cut it off. I have tried printing these reports to this printer from 2 other pc's and it does the same thing so I know it isn't the computer. I have looked on Dells Support site for a firmware update of some kind and there isn't one for this. I am really at a loss as to what I should do. They said they used this printer last year to print these reports with no problem. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

P.S. The program actually puts the report in a pdf format if that helps.

Russian anti-virus vendor Doctor Web is pleased to announce the release of the eighth version of Dr.Web for Windows and Dr.Web Security Space. The new installer, enhanced anti-rootkit, advanced preventive protection, instant web link checks, upgraded parental control, and new control center are available to all users starting today.

New installer. Dr.Web 8.0?s new installer does not use the Microsoft Windows Installer; no additional services are required to install the product. It not only protects the anti-virus from the moment when installation begins, but also reduces deployment time, since scanning is no longer performed during setup.

New anti-rootkit. Now the search for and neutralization of complex threats (rootkits, bootkits, etc.) is carried out in background mode. The resident background scan routines search for active threats among critical system objects and in the BIOS. An intelligent assessment of hardware capabilities ensures that scanning does not interfere with the user experience. The integration of the installation package (installer) with the updated anti-rootkit makes it possible to repel active threats and cure a PC during installation, even if the computer is infected with sophisticated malware.

Preventive protection sub-system. Now Dr.Web can block automatic modifications of critical Windows objects, thus ensuring preventive protection from infection. For various applications and services, a user can grant or deny access to certain Windows objects ... Read more

Hi there.
Just wondering if there are any SKY GO users here --I love it for UK football (Premier league on Sky sports).

However because it still uses Silverlite security one is forced to continue to use IE11 (although I believe there are some unofficial workarounds to get this stuff to work on Google Chrome).
The Android app works fine but you can't cast to an external screen (Mirroring gets disabled) so you are forced to use a browser on a PC for relly nice HD pics.

SKY don't even seem to realize that W10 even EXISTS - and that's using UK call centres - once you get transferred to an Indian call centre - then it's another whole Ball game : "What's SKY GO -- We don't have any information on that Service " !!!.

Can't understand the logic here -- a service people will legally sign up and PAY for puts so many obstacles in the way of legitimate users accessing the service compared with some "Pirate streams" which work instantly without any mega problem that I often use these "Alternative streams" even though I am quite happy paying for the legal service.

Cheers

Hello everyone.

I have tried my best to remove this virus on my laptop, but no success yet.

Here are all of the things the virus does:

-Prevents access to websites like spybot, instead of letting me see the site, it simply says "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage", and there is a button to click that says "Diagnose Connection Problem" (no connection problem of course)

-When I click links from a google search, they most of the time take me to the wrong webpage and I am forced to copy/paste the original link into the web bar.

-Programs like Combofix, Spybot, and HJT do not work and a box comes up after starting them saying "Combofix has stopped working".

-I tried running the programs in Safe Mode, but no luck there.

If anyone knows a fix please reply.

Thanks,

Sean

I am looking for a way to set a default homepage in Edge, that is set initially to a custom homepage when users first launch Edge, but that is not enforced and allows them to change it, and then it is not changed back. For IE11 we use a group policy preference
that is set to run one time only and that works perfectly for this in IE11.
I am aware of the Administrative template GPO setting Microsoft Edge>Configure home pages, which does work to set the homepage in a enforced manner, but this does not allow users to change it.
I see many technet and other threads from 2015 with people trying to accomplish this, but none where someone actualaly found a way to do it, there seems be a set of protected registry keys don't don't allow you to change them and have it work. It seems very
odd that Edge is the latest and greatest Microsoft browser but that it lacks so many basic management features for customization.
Now that is is 2017 is anyone aware of a way to configure this in Edge using group policy preferences, registry keys, scripts etc? Anything that can be automated for a large number of Windows 10 systems?

Firstly, my home page is set up to open in Duckduckgo but it opens in Bing nevertheless. Microsoft Edge sets automatically its default search engine to Microsoft edge and does not allow to reset it to DUckduckgo. Secondly, even if I use Duckduckgo, Microsoft
Edge tracks my loggings. I keep deleting the logging but is there a way to remedy it? Is there enough users to file class action suit for violating users rights ( select engine and privacy issues). Some engines allow to clear all search history upon closing
the browser. Microsoft Edge does not provide this option. Although, Microsoft implies we are using Ducduckgo, they blatantly track us. Where the data go? To NSA?

I have a nasty if not multiple nasty virus's and have not been successful removing them. It started with the XP Anti-Virus 2011 Removal fake anti-virus popping up with all real anti-virus programs disabled and anytime I try to go to an antivirus website I'm redirected to a random site. This happens in all browsers not just Internet Explorer. I also had many of my files changed to hidden file folders and also the start/all programs button does not show any of my programs. I mananged to get both Malwarebytes and Superantispyware on my computer and was able to get rid of much of the problems by running these programs. Now it seems the XP Anti-Virus 2011 has been removed but I still have the issue with my webpages being redirected depending on which page I try to access. I also have many processes that should not be running in the task manager and when i close them out they just start back up again. This worm seems to be accessing my iexplorer because there are multiple iexplorer.exe open at all times and sometimes the CPU Usage gets very high which is not normal for my computer. The final symptom is that at random times I get a webpage pop up or if not a webpage an error that reads like the following example:

An error has occured in the script on this page.

Camera Wizard not poping up after removing Total Security/Antivirus Pro_2010 I have a PC with Windows XP SP3 with Avast, SuperAnti-Spyware and MBAM while browsing I got a yellow virus warning (something win32 I believe) from Avast pop up near the bottom tray and within seconds the Total Security pop-ups started. My PC slowed to a stop so I rebooted and saw that Antivirus Pro_2010 had installed itself on my PC. All my Anti Virus programs would not start (ie MBAM) so I ended up following forums to end some processes, delete some .dll files that were known to be malicious and rename the .exe's to get Anti Virus programs to run. I installed and used AVG which found a couple things. Then I used ComboFix, and finally I got MBAM to run which found a good 40+ trojans etc. I believe I got the virus off but I tried to restore to before I got the virus but was unable to. I have since run scans with MBAM and SuperAnti-Spyware which have found nothing. Avast also finds nothing but it has a list of 44 files (mostly in WINDOWS\ folder with the last path part of file doubled) that it is unable to scan: because "The system cannot find the specified path". When I look on my C: drive and follow the file path, the second to last part is always missing (ie. WINDOWS\addins\addins) addins is not there. When I plug in my camera, the camera wizard does not pop up anymore as it use to before I had and removed the virus. I also saw on the unscanable list that there was a WINDOWS\Connecti... Read more

And second of all, please be patience i'm a noob looking for answers So whats all about? Well i'm meeting new terms here and i have no idea what they mean and what they do. And as anyone else i wanna be safe in this era of cyber-crime. So basically i know whats a anti-virus and a anti-spyware and that they can run together. Also i heard that 2 anti-virus don't do good but 2 anti-spyware do. So what i'm asking is, what is a anti-malware? Can a anti-malware, anti-virus, and anti-spyware run together? Could you suggest some good+free of those 3? Sorry for my bad English and being such a noob

A:Anti-malware, Anti-virus, Anti-spyware

Florin, you might take interest in this thread, though it may be quite a bit of reading: What's the Best Anti-virus?

It is there that they discuss all kinds of different antiviruses and coupled security software. I personally only use Microsoft Security Essentials, but I have used it along with Malwarebytes for added security in the past.

Basically, you could have your system completely locked down with lots of extra security, but in some cases it becomes a hassle because of how much your computer becomes protected and overly secured. If you prefer a speedy computer over security, generally you use less security software, but if it is the other way around, you will want beefier security software which may slow things down slightly. That link I've provided will have most everything you will need.

I have Windows 10 and for probably over a year it's likely that I've had a virus on my computer. Something occasionally pops up with something called 'binkiland' which I have deleted a few times and ran avast anti virus scans and deleted but it's never properly gone. Recently, my computer's sound functions have completely stopped working after about 10 minutes into steaming something/playing previously downloaded music/Skype calling - either the sound playing cuts out and the film/music etc freezes shortly afterwards, or with the case of Skype, the microphone stopped working though I could still hear the other person. I don't know whether the sound issues are related to the virus but both need to be fixed either way. Hi,

I just downloaded a "keygen" from bittorrent, and when I opened the exe file, nothing happened, then the exe file disappeared/deleted itself. I am pretty convinced that this was a virus, because my computer has slowed down significantly.

Now this part is unbelievable - I went online to download an antivirus program or the online Trend Micro scan, AND MY BROWSER (Firefox and IE) WON'T LET ME ACCESS ANY ANTI-VIRUS WEBPAGES!!! I managed to download Hijackthis and Spybot by downloading them through download.com, but it wouldn't let me go directly to the official sites! How strange is that?

Attached are links to the original file that I downloaded, if someone can scan it for me and deduce how to fix the problem, and also my Hijackthis log. (I hosted them on senduit.com for one week so you can access them.)

Thanks so, so much.
