Saving to an off site back up drive

Q: Saving to an off site back up drive

I have a Mac Pro. I am trying to figure out how to create a back up solution, for a large digital movie collection; all of which is stored in iTunes. I'm currently using time machine to an external hard drive. I also have an online back up with CrashPlan. I'm looking to add an off site back up solution. I have a growing 5TB movie collection. So I was thinking of using a 16tb drive mirrored for 8 useable TB. I do not always have a computer at the off site location so I would like the back up to happen a different way. I was told a WD my cloud would do it but I'm not sure how. I was also told an external hard drive plugged into an airport time capsule would also work, but again I don't know how to make it happen. I'm open to better ideas or just info on how to pull off the ways I was already told. Thanks

I recommend trying the free service from Zip Cloud. It's currently our users' favorite backup and storage solution and will save you headaches down the line.

You can get it direct from this link http://goo.gl/rFYDxc. (This link will open the Zip Cloud homepage.)

How to force IE 11 to ask for saving credentials again for just one web site, after having accidentally sellect not to remember password for that particular site. Please, take into account that:

- I'm totally aware that storing credentials is not a good security practice, but in my particular case this is what I need to do.

- I know that reseting IE or similar approachs will do the job, but doing that I'll lost more tan 70 web sites credentials. I need a solution not involving loose all the web credentials stored.
- I also know that there is way to do the trick "lying" to IE using a modified but similar username, but this only works in some web sites, depending on the kind of login mechanism used. In my particulare case this trick also does not work.
- I also know that there was a registry hack for this particular problem, but this does not work with IE last versions.

Any help would be very apreciated.

HELP!! Simple problem, but I don't know where to look anymore. The person who uses the site works from a laptop that she connect to the LAN when she needs to work. She connects to the site, pulls information from the DB for editing and when she wants to save it, it says it did, but it just throws it away.

It works on ALL the other computers we test. She is working with the administrator passwod now and I'm stumped! Could it be the mobile unit on the network or the version of IE? She uses 5.0.

Guys, if you have ANY hints please help!

A:Trouble saving from site!

Welcome to TSG!

If she is saving something like the HTML code the file will be so buried by default I don't think she'll ever find it!
Make sure she is saving it where she can find it and let us know (if possible) what she is saving.

Hi guys,

I am maintaining a web site where the clients have difficulties in saving changes. For example, they go to a screen where they make all the changes such as tick a few checkboxes and/or a few radio buttons. They then click on the 'Save Changes' button. Instead of being directed to another page, the user stays on the same page and all their changes are reverted back to their original values before the Save Changes button has been clicked. This issue occurs intermittently. It happens for some users and not for others. Sometimes, a user has this issue, and at other times, the same user does not have any issue.

DNS issue? Network issue? Corrupt executable? Web Server issue? Source Code issue?

Appreciate your help on this matter!

A:Intermitten Saving Changes issue on a web site

Web server or code issue. You'll need to have a look at the POST action in web page code. And check the web server logs to see if you are receiving the POST requests. Work or fail, if the POST request was received by the web server, it will be in the logs.

Is this possible ?. How could it be done ?. How could the favourites be transferred back to where they're supposed to go ?.

I'd also like to save my E-Mail Drafts, but can't do this for some reason. An issue with 'Settings' perhaps ??.
I like to write Messages, store them for later adjustments and then send.

Hoping someone can help me and please be detailed.

Hey all,

I know how to save Mpgs and the such easy enough without a download button. Right click the vid, properties, copy the link, paste, whammo. But this one is weird.

http://www.khanhdom.com/

That's the site. If you click on New York Giants at the top, it takes you to the video section. I'm trying to download some football videos, and there's no option to download, and the properties data only gets me stuff like this:

http://www.khanhdom.com/cms/htmlos/0.../.object_class

There's no file extension. How can I download a file like this to my pc???

Thanks,

Helmut

A:Saving embedded video at this site..

I had a quick look at the site, but it was taking too long to load so I didn't get to watch any videos. It looks like they are streaming javascript videos. You can't save them the usual way, you need to download a stream recorder.

So, getting bored with my current theme, I wanted to change it up. Changed my log in screen, desktop wallpaper, and taskbar color. First problem came in when I went restarted my computer to save some other changes to the system, but upon logging back in, the wallpaper went from being set on "Fill" to "Stretch". This change is undone as shown in the first screenshot. Second thing to really bother me is when I try to change my Windows account icon to a picture I have saved; I try to click on "Browse for more pictures...", but the link doesn't respond at all. I've restarted several times, but to no avail. Anyone have any idea/have any fixes for these issues?

Thanks in advance.

A:Need help with changes not saving after logging back in

My own personal experience with this has shown the best thing to do is usually to just wipe all the temp and window settings from the machine (along with thumbnails) and start from scratch.
This can be done pretty easily using something like ccleaner's basic clean mode (I don't suggest using the included registry scanner though)

You can also go into folder options, and system settings and try resetting all those to defaults to see if the changes begin saving after that.

A:saving from a back up disc from Best Buy

You mean they recovered your data to a CD or DVD?

If so you should go back to the store and ask if they can burn it to a different brand media. Either the media brand is incompatible, or worse they burned your data to a bad disc. Usually your CD/DVD drive will come with a manual that lists recommended brands. (yes, you'd think CD/DVD compatibility will be all ironed-out after all those years, but no it's not).

P.S: you may get some read errors if my hypothesis is correct. Go to event viewer and look under the system log for any error messages. (event viewer is in control panel (classic view), administrative tools).

P.S. #2: if they finally give you a CD that reads OK, make a backup copy of it and store it in a jewel case away from light and heat. See this article

I've noticed this bug out of the corner of my eye for years, but only last week did I actually completely see it in action. When I save a file in Notepad by pressing "Save", my cursor will jump backwards a couple characters (including to the previous line where applicable). It only happens with the first save for a session, not with further saves and will only happen again if I exit Notepad, click on the file again, start typing or just put the cursor somewhere and press "Save" again. I've noticed a few mentions of this in Google, but never an answer if its a known bug with Windows XP or something else.

Hi,

I have a PC with one HDD and 2 Operating systems on it ? there is one additional Partition for Data.
I now I want to save the whole system in a storage economical way by skipping the Data Partion,
So I think the Partions of the ?Operating Systems?, the ?MBR (for boot)? and the Partition Table (for creating the same size of all partions) should be saved.

I would like to have a Live CD that can save in this way (just skipping a selective partion ? the user data partition) at once (one ?image?) without much manual interaction to an external HDD.
It should be free for personal use 

What I?ve found now is only ALL or one partion at once ? not comfortable not secure.
Is there any tool that could really help me?

A:Whole PC Backup saving space by selecting partitions to back up for

You would have to have a truck full of C/D's to do backups.

I would suggest getting a extra hard drive (internal or better yet a external) to install backups.

I use Macrium Reflect.

I subscribe to WebMD, so get e-mails from them almost daily. Most of the e-mails let you go to a slideshow about some medical subject, often a quiz where you try to answer questions to see how much you know about diseases or health. But about a month ago, I noticed that after flipping forward on one of the slideshows, exactly 15 sec. later I was automatically (I didn't touch anything!) switched back to the beginning of the slides. Made no difference whether I had already flipped forward 1, 2, 3. . . any number of slides; it took me back to slide #1. It only does this once. If you flip forward again after being moved back to the first slide, it doesn't flip you back there again.

My default browser is Chrome. I first wanted to eliminate Chrome as the culprit, so set Firefox as my default browser, went to one of the WebMD e-mails, clicked on and started the slideshow, flipped forward a couple of slides, then started counting seconds. Bingo! Exactly 15 sec. after moving to the 3rd slide, I was unceremoniously moved back to slide 1. So it's NOT the browser.

I suspect the site. Has anyone else encountered this problem and if so, have you concluded that it's the site, not your computer, and do you know what the site is doing that causes this?

Hi,I slipped up recently and downloaded a programme that I suspected as a virus as soon as I opened it. Shortly afterwards I found that I was running "b.exe" and "msa.exe" - both common virus programmes. I ran spybot, Ad-Aware and AVG, as well as RegCure. Spybot found the msa.exe (and I believe the b.exe was part of the same problem), and got rid of them. However, I clearly still have some adware on my computer, as my internet browser (firefox) is running slowly, and when I click on search links, I am directed elsewhere than I intended, and have to click back to go where I wanted.I have attached my hijackthis log file.Any help would be very gratefully received Cheers,Davey Boy.EDIT:Apologies, since writing this post, I ran Malware Bytes (suggestion I found from a google search). Now I know there is a tutorial - well I think there is - where you can send excess data to a large drive to save space on the C: drive as mine is rapidly filling (256GB SSD) and I don't want to end up with a recent situation with my old laptop where the dive became full and I couldn't do a thing with it.

I do have a lot of music on the C: drive which if I could I would store on the large drive and be able to play with WMP when I want. The same goes if I could store programs liken Macrium on the large drive and use on the occasions I want to. I am planning to fir 500gb SSD but funds are a bit stretched right now.

A:Getting data back form back up internal drive

Just make a MUSIC folder on the other drive and move all your music files there. Then right click on that MUSIC folder and INCLUDE it into the music library. Call the folder "Music 2" or something to differentiate it from the other music folders. And the Music folder on the SSD you just leave empty.

There is another method moving the folder via the location tab in Properties. I do not recommend that method. It can lead to problems. The above method is safer.

And leave the programs on the SSD. Those are small.

Mine on the other drive is called Whs Music

Well, at the least, you're going to have to do a Repair installation of Windows XP. You can't just take a hard drive from one computer and put it in another because of the drivers.

Then there's the problem of the license issue. If it's a retail version of Windows XP, then you should be fine, but not if it's OEM.

Do you plan on dual booting your computer so that you have both Windows XP and Windows Vista on your new computer, or do you plan on formatting your Windows XP drive after moving your files?

Since there's no DRM involved, all you need to do is use something like UltraISO to create an ISO image from the DVD. Of course, you can also simply copy the DVD with almost any commercial DVD burning application.

I know with M Soft word you can choose that path of my documents, is this the case wioth most programmes, so anything they create will be automatically saved on the shared drive?

Thanks in advance for the info. I'm not too savvy tech-wise, so if you can give me specific info on how to do it, I sure would appreciate it.

Thanks again,

Respectfully,

Malibu7

some programs give you a choice to finalize the cd, as long as you don't you can add to it.

After installing a few of my programmes, I caught sight of the OS (C) drive and saw it was red. Everything had been installed there with nothing going to the 1.8TB Data drive so it was full. I uninstalled all of them but this didn't get it out of the red so I've done a fresh install of Windows and removed the Windows.old files too via disk cleanup. The OS drive is blue again now but with only 25.1 GB free, I'm wondering how it will cope with updates. There's a big one coming for W10 so how do I make sure there's enough space for it?
Meanwhile, I need to find a way to stop this default routing of installs. I'm sure there must be something but I wouldn't say no to any expertise anyone might be able to offer. I'm using my creaky old Dell at the moment, pre-transfer to the new one, which could collapse any time!

I'm running Win8.1 on a high-end PC.

I have 3 hard drives on my computer. I'm saving a document now. When the save window comes up, it says, "This PC>Downloads." Win 8 and 8.1 have problems. I understand that. But I'd at least like to know what hard drive I'm on right now. What hard drive am I saving to? How do I get "This PC>Downloads" to say something like "This PC>D:\>Downloads?

Any help with this will be very much appreciated.

Hi,
how can i force domain users to save files to mapped network drive?

A:Saving to Network Drive.

Black Posse, welcome to the windows 7 forum.

I suggest that you use domain user profiles to set the documents to a network drive directory.
this way, when they save it should go into the profile directory for that profile.

Hi, I am adding a second hard drive to my PC as a slave to the primary, and I just wondered what the position is regarding power saving settings.

At the moment I have power saving set to switch off the hard drive if not used for 10 minutes. When I add a second drive will the system be clever enough to switch that off after 10 minutes too?

Without getting into the argument about whether or not it's a good idea to shut down drives, the power settings will apply to all the hard drives.
