I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi, Got a ThinkCentre Edge72 that I am attempting to recover to factory settings. The partition drive with the Lenovo_Recovery is there, however pressing F11 on start up does nothing. I can access Windows System Recovery Options, when I try System Image Recovery, it is unable to find an image. Further inspection suggests that someone had installed a fresh copy of Windows by other means thus removing any Lenovo software/tools which I think might be what I'm missing to access the Lenovo recovery options correctly. Is there any tools avilable that may allow me to use F11 and use the Lenovo_Recovery Partition?  ThanksTom

Hello Walter,

Please update the BIOS which will resolve the issue.
http://download.lenovo.com/ibmdl/pub/pc/pccbbs/thinkcentre_bios/9qjy36usa.exe

You may also try the Windows registry setting. Kindly be careful while editing windows registry.
Have a look at the following registry location (note that you need to invoke regedit.exe with administrative privileges in order to make any changes in this location) and ensure that the value ClearPageFileAtShutdown is set to 0 (if it is set to 1, change the value to 0).

Hi. I have a thinkcentre edge 72, Intel Core i5-3330s 3.20 GHz - Intel H61 - 4GB DDR3 - 1TB HDD - DVD/RW - Windows 7 Pro 64Bit One day on startup (from power button) it just ran the fans for a 1 second, and then shut down, then the fans ran again after about 4 seconds for 1 second again and shut down, and repeats. I took the thing apart, fiddled with connections, removed the ram and put it back in, then did the paperclip test on the powersupply.  The powersupply was giving out the required voltages on yellow, orange and red etc.  Powersupply fan runs.  Seams the powersupply is ok. tried removing almost everything from the motherboard - DVD, harddisk, fans, power button (shorted the startup from the connection on the motherboard). Seems to me either the RAM is no good, or the motherboard has a problem.  I don't have any suitable extra ram, so can't test that. I guess before I go out and buy a new motherboard has ANYBODY ANYWHERE had this problem with a Lenovo ?    Can Lenovo experts indicated what they think this might be ? If Not, how can I get my hands on a replacement motherboard? I'd rather not change/upgrade as I don't want to have to reinstall windows 7 or risk data loss.   thanks! Guy

I see no other replies to this... I had somewhat similar problem, 3 days ago: I had Windows7 in "sleep"; when I pressed Power button, only got auxiliary fan full on until I pulled the power plug. Any subsequent reattachment of power resulted only in auxiliary fan full on.  An other forum entry's response led me to replace the CMOS battery. Problem fixed.

Hi All,  This is my first post on these forums and I have recently in the last couple of months purchased the above computer. I have made a couple of upgrades to it, in the form of an SSD hard drive and using the Crucial memory scanner I have upgraded the ram from 4gb to 16gb.  It now runs extremely fast indeed, but when I turn the computer on, when it posts it beeps twice, two short beeps, then continues to load windows 7 fine and works flawlessley.  I have been trying to diagnose the two short beeps upon startup for a few weeks now and am getting no where fast. I found the following article on these very forums but the suggestions dont seem to have made a difference to my situation.  https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Lenovo-E-H-K-M-Q-and-ErazerX/Lenovo-H330-2-short-beeps-at-power-up-but-... This issue can be intermittant, I would say it happens 6 to 7 times out of every 10 times the machine is turned on. Initially I wasnt getting any form of error on the screen at all, until I went into the BIOS, cleared the error log and rebooted the machine. Then I got the error as follows - Error 0162 : Setup data integrity check failure Now this error code does not seem to exist on the Lenovo website, I found the following links which were helpful in showing me all sorts of other codes and beep sequences, the first one lists the two short beeps and links to an error code list - https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/documents/migr-46... Hello guys, I've got this problem:I've bought a second-hand ThinkCentre Edge 72 SFF desktop and a Lenovo Radeon HD 7450 graphics to go with it. Since it was an OEM Lenovo-branded card and originally available for this very computer as a CTO option, I thought "what could go wrong?" Boy, a lot. I Plugged the card in, installed the OS (Windows 8.1 x64) and the went to fiddle with the BIOS for a bit. That's where I stumbled upon this problem: when the graphics was installed, you couldn't disable CSM and enable Secure Boot, because if you did, you'd lose video. It took me a few tries and a BIOS update to find out what was causing the black screens. So I did some googling and found out Lenovo knows about this and they offer an official solution, which is a VBIOS flash - see here: https://pcsupport.lenovo.com/dk/en/solutions/HT081709 Great, huh? So I followed the instructions TO THE LETTER and read everything twice before acting, ran the AtiWinFlash, but got a flash error after a few seconds. Clicked OK, closed the prompt and restarted the PC. To this point I still had video output, however after the reboot the screen was black like when the secure boot was enabled before. So I pulled out the card to see if it's gonna run on IGP and it did, so I loaded BIOS defaults and double checked that CSM is enabled and Secure Boot disabled. Put the card back in to no avail, still no change, which kinda made me sure that the card is bricked. Since then I ... Read more

Hi,

Yesterday I received my Lenovo ThinkCentre Edge E73 and the first thing I did was update my Windows 7 professional. However, after it had rebooted about 3 times it froze on the 'loading windows' screen.

After a reboot, the startup repair launched and was restoring to a previous state. The pc rebooted and tried to do a CHKDSK but it failed and loaded the welcomescreen but froze with the message that winload.exe was damaged. Knowing about the system recovery partition I booted it at start and selected the option to restore the whole pc to factory state. Unfortunately, this happened.

I tried using a retail windows 7 pro-disc to repair the computer since the recovery partition shortcut (f11) didn't work anymore. However, it didn't even recognize that the old windows was there, untill I looked at the partition manager.

It seems the recovery partition is still intact but I can't boot to it anymore. Will it work if i delete the old windows7_os partition or do I have to do anything else? The bios is setup to start from the harddisk.

Thanks in advance,
Joeri

Hi....... I am hoping that someone may be able to pint me in the right direction.   I have an old IBM Thinkcentre..... I am not sure which exact model it is.  Used to use it in my home office, but moved it out to the entertainment center ages ago and basically use it as a "jukebox" that I have stored all my music into and feed my audio system.  I run nothing else, and it worked fine doing this for years.  Anyway, with a recent update in iTunes, I now am experiencing issues playing back music, as I never have before.   I populated the main board with 4GB of RAM, but when I check in system information...... although it states 4GB installed, it only chows 2.25GB in "total physical memory". I have tried everything I could to increase performance of the resources I have..... disabled what was unnecessary and turned off everything that does not absolutely need to run in the background, but have only improved things a bit.  In doing some research, it was suggested that a  BIOS update "may" allow me to go beyond the RAM limitations of my system.  I figured I would try this out before bagging it and just investing in a new computer. Anyway, I have attached a snapshot of my system configuration.  Can anyone help me find a later version of BIOS?  I have tried searching for it myself, but everything points me back to the Lenovo site, were I cannot find anything.  When I plug in my serial number, it does not find a... My Lenovo ThinkCentre runs just fine on Vista Business and I received Win 7 Ultimate NFR for both 32 and 64 bit versions. I have no real need to upgrade the OS, but I'm a tech junky and having the latest is one of my passions. Seriously, if I go more than a week without wiping and reloading some version of an OS on my BlackBerry, I start going into withdrawal. Anyhow, I'd like to put Win7 on my system, but just not sure if it's worth any potential headaches. I could upgrade to the 32 bit relatively easily I assume, but I'm thinking of doing a clean install of the 64bit. I would probably leave the recovery partition intact and install Win7 over the running Vista OS partition.

Is there any great advantage to loading 64bit from scratch? I have 4GB installed, and of course can only see 3GB currently. All programs and hardware are compatible per Windows Upgrade Advisor. I haven't done a clean install on my pc in a few years, and I remember it being a huge pain to re-install all programs and settings. Should I just go with the 32bit version?

Thanks!

A:Should I upgrade my ThinkCentre to Win 7 64bit?

64 is the wave of the future..if you can get the drivers go for it....they are usually already on the dvd...but you may have to go get one or 2...most people dont have to go get any as the dvd has most and windows updates has the rest

I went for it on my dell..worked like a breeze...i did go to 32 later though due to a network all in 1 that wasnt happy with 64

Logic would dictate I need a better PSU than the standard 280 or 240 watt PSU that comes with the system. Were can I purchase a more powerful, small or low profile PSU for this system? Any help woud be appreciated. Not looking for gaming use, just more power in the PSU for possible dual monitor use, better display, and power/stability for a 1/2GB GPU card. Thank you, Peter Costa

Dear All, We have several E93 desktops with i5 4440 processors (Machine Type Model: 10AR003KCR).Because of incresed need for computation power (more threads with higher speed), we would upgrade them with processors such as Xeon E3-1271 or i7-4770 (same LGA 1150 socket). Will it work, does BIOS allows something like that? Any suggestions? Thx!

Hello ! A friend of mine brought me his computer to make a fresh format/reinstall and possibly upgrade it. I cleaned the computer, changed thermal pasta with arctic silver mx5 etc. Activated windows 7 premium family with the key on the side of the computer, so far so good. But the computer could really use an upgrade. So I checked on the internet and found this :  Socket is AM2, and Phenom ready (page4). Possible CPU upgrades are Athlon 2 6400+ (dual core 3.2 ghz) and Phenom x4 9550 (quad core 2.6 ghz). Also, there are 4 memory slots, DDR2 PC 6400 (800 mhz). Max memory supported is 8 gb theorically. My questions are :  - Which compatible CPU is the best ? Is Phenom x4 9550 really compatible ? - 4x 2gb ram is the best configuration ?  Thanks in advance for your help. Fabri8686

A:Lenovo ThinkCentre M81 PSU Upgrade?

Tower or Small form factor... actually posting your Machine Type Model (MTM) would help. If you have the tower, just about any ATX PSU like this one would work since I believe your motherboard as the standard 24 pin connector, but with that card you might want to wait to see if it even needs a 300w PSU, because it may work just fine with you current PSU unless you have a bunch of HDDs installed etc.. If you want a Lenovo PSU that shipped with the M81, you can get a 280 watt like this one  https://www.amazon.com/Genuine-Lenovo-41A9684-Desktop-PS-5281-7VR/dp/B00R3NPNN6, which should be more than capable of powering your GPU. Best of luck,

Hello, is it possible to install DD3 PC3-12800 into Thinkcentre Edge71 that usually accepts PC3-10600. Is there a way to check this somewhere in the system or BIOS. At the moment PC3-12800 is cheaper then PC3-10600 and I would like increase RAM from 8GB to 16GB. Thank you very much.

I have seen Crucial Memory use higher speed chips for their Lenovo 'System Specific' memory (the speed will drop to the lowest common denominator), but I believe the timings must be identical to the factory memory to work.

http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?sitestyle=lenovo&lndocid=MIGR-60466 I have this M52 8113-D5U computer. It is equipped with a 3 GHz socket 775 Pentium4 and has some kind of cheesy intel chipset. I want to upgrade the processor to a dual core but I cannot find any information suggesting which model CPU to purchase. The specs on the Lenovo website list the Pentium D as compatible. However the listing only mentions that it can support the "Prescott" and the "Smithfield" but its not specific enough to mention which exact models and what exact stepping would be supported. I seem to recall reading that this model only supported D stepping somewhere but I can't remember if that is right. Strangely, the prescott IS NOT dual core and the Smithfield cores do not even have D stepping. Now the Smithfield cores which are apparently supported seem to have A and B stepping. But I don't know which one to purchase. It doesn't say in the support article which exact Pentium D processor is supported. There are four Smithfield Pentium D models and each model is available in either A or B stepping. So that is 8 different Pentium D Smithfield Processors and the website article does not mention which one of them is compatible.  What dual core processor can I put in this machine? Here is a list of the low end Pentium Dual Cores:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Intel_Pentium_D_microprocessorshttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Intel_Pentium_Dual-... Read more
