Preferred Solution: Moniter Resolution isssues.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

There should be some buttons on the front of your monitor. Play around with those until you get your screen where you want.

Sorry if I'm not that specific here. I can get more details if need be. My dad has an HP computer (the kind with the built in video card and such). He dropped something behind his desk that rattled his case, and now whenever he starts his comp, his moniter (a 15 inch LCD) says that he should/must change his resolution to 1024x768 with 60hz refresh rate. But, of course, he can't do that because he cant get to his windows (even in safe mode). I think that his video card came undone or something, but I'm not sure. Please help!

A:Moniter firmly demands resolution change!

Something seems odd here. That might be the native resolution for the monitor (where it will give the best picture). It still should run at other resolutions. Check the monitor cable. You may have to hook up another monitor to see what things are set at and if needed set things to [email protected]

Hi
Lately at a start up it takes my computer long time to establish network connection .The skype icon takes a long time to get green and the network icon is probing for a long time , what is most unusuall that i have a data streaming program that is connected immediately to the internet and the data streaming is working perfectly while the rest of the computer is still searching for it , while probing i cannot open Explorer/FireFox.
It is like i have 2 kinds of connections in 1 computer. the computer itself is connected to a router and another computer that is working on the same router does not suffer the same issues, i guess in one of the updates something has changed but i cannot put my finger on the cause.
Thank you

A:Lan isssues

Hi please try a system restore to a point before the issue first occurred.

If issue still persists is this a wired or wireless connection.

Turn off the data streaming program and see if things improve.

What is the data streaming program you are using?

I currently run my computer on Vista Ultimate 64 and today something went wrong with my sound.
I noticed it when I tried to play music in Winamp and I got this message that no sound card was installed, same thing goes for Spotify. I've checked my device manager but it says that my sound card is working with no issues. If I go to the control panel under the sound part it says no device installed. I've tried to uninstall the drivers and update with new ones but the problem persist.
I have no clue on how to fix this, any help would be appreciated.

we need you to fill in your system specs (lower left corner in your posts) so we know what hardware you have.

you may want to try un-installing the sound driver then letting windows find ot for you.

I used the windows explorer burn facility on windows 7

I removed all the waiting to be burnt temp files

clicked on photos and clicked on Burn to burn all to DVD - it burnt the files - but then when the burnt and finalised disk was placed back in the machine - it showed only 1 file burned and all the others marked as waiting to be burnt

I placed the disk into a different machine and it showed all the files and folder on the disk burnt

any idea what's going on here - making it difficult for my friend who is not computer literate and new to this type of thing - struggle with burning disks and i thought using windows explorer in windows 7 would be easiest - but not if it shows burnt disks ad waiting to be burnt

never had this issue on windows 7 pcs before when helping others burn ???

Yesterday i re-installed XP Home SP2 from the disk and now i have Windows XP with missing drivers

The missing drivers are:

- Ethernet controller
- PCI communications thingy

And on computer startup i have no programs except the defaults, and a very old version of windows media player, on startup i also have a weird screen that is titled as 'OEM reset' with an option to shutdown, do an audit boot and build an RIS deployment image.. why have i got that?

I need to get the Ethernet controller asap and i cannot connect to the internet through my PC.

The PC is an old eMachines e4024, 2.9ghz intel pentium 4 with 512mb ram.

eMachines support is rubbish, they hardly give anything, that's why im posting here..
My ethernet controller is a Intel pro 10/100, thats as far as i have got to finding out what the controller is, everest did not tell me anything about an ethernet controller.. but i know it is manufactered by Intel, on intel's website they have a list of driver downloads for many ethernet controllers but im posting here cause i cant find my model.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Hi .<<Yesterday i re-installed XP Home SP2 from the disk and now i have Windows XP with missing drivers>>What disk might that be? Is it a MS XP install CD?Is it a CD provided by eMachines for restoring your system?Did you have a drivers CD for your system? Hi. I'm new here and this is my first post. I looked around a little and found one other thread with a similar question, but the question wasn't really answered. I can't find anything on the net that doesn't confuse me so bad it makes my head hurt, so I thought I'd try asking here. Thanks in advance for any answers I get.

I will try and be as thorough as possible, although the resulting question will be simple. I'll start out with why I am asking the question to begin with.

So I am trying to play a game I used to play nearly ten years ago. It's a free online game called Continuum/Subspace and there are user created "zones" or variations of the game within the game (if that makes sense). I play in a zone called Trench Wars. It's a top down game, meaning you are looking down at your ship as if from above and the screen scrolls as you move to reveal more of the area (map) you are playing in. You are in a spaceship of your choice with varying weapons for each ship. The game requires aiming at your enemies before firing at them and anticipating their moves.

Well I noticed that playing at a higher resolution allows you to see more of your immediate area and expands your view of the map. It works just like your desktop in essence. The higher the resolution, the smaller the icons, but the more space you have. In the game, the higher the resolution, the smaller the ships are, but you can see more space around you. Obviously, this would give an advantage to anyone playing ... Read more

A:Forcing Screen Resolution Higher Than Native Resolution

Simple answer is: you can not go over the native resolution of LCD panel because its physical thing for each pixel lcd panel has a cell you can not have more pixels than there is physical pixels in that panel.

smaller than native resolutions achieved by grouping more than one cell to form pixel thats why non native resolution on lcd sometimes gets blurry or edgy

Ok - First off Im using a 32" Dynex TV as a monitor, hooked in through a VGA port on the TV. When I start my computer the screen jumps around and it says 'detecting signal', settles on 640x480 during boot When windows 7 starts to open it jumps again for a moment and goes to 1366x768 (the right setting for it) I was playing Metro 2033 and its too slow in 1366 so I reduced it to 1024x768 which apparently the TV cant do, it just went black, so it reset to 1366. I was trying various resolutions, some were too wide too skinny etc and accidentally clicked on 1024 again, screen went black and this time didnt revert. I restarted my computer and now after the 640 phase in boot it doesnt go to 1366 like it should but at the opening to windows 7 where you put in your password it switches to 1024, after it jumps to adjust a few times it goes black like in the game.. it tells me detecting signal (normal) then no signal detected (which is what it tells me if I have it on say component 1 with my xbox 360 turned off, or video 1 with my dvd player off, or even VGA with the computer off for that matter)

What Ive tried:
I tried turning the monitor off and on to see if I could adjust the settings back while it was adjusting before going black, but it just stays black...

I started up in safe mode, which was 800x600 and it was ugly but worked, I tried resetting the resolution but it only gave the base options (640, 800, 1024, 1280) and that was only for safe mode, it didnt hold when I ... Read more

A:monitor resolution issue - can I change my resolution from outside windows??

Also, tap F8 on startup, but instead of safe mode chose "enable VGA mode" which should cause windows to boot normally, but in 800x600 (or something of the like, that just about all monitors and TV's support)

I have a Sceptre 32-Inch LCD TV (X322BV) and I use an ASUS GeForce 440 video card. I am connected to the TV using a top of the line HDMI cable that has ethernet built in. I was using this cable to connect my computer to the TV and it displayed fine at 1360x768. This was great for my games and all other programs I was using. I attempted to install a new game called Metro 2033 and when I launched the game, it must have detected that my system is really good and set to display the resolution in 1080p. Now my TV does not support this display and now won't show anything except in safe mode, where the resolution is set to 1024x768. I am just not sure of how to get the computer to now NOT display in 1080p when I boot up windows normally. I have tried using the F8 menu to reset the resolution and everything. I am a competent computer tech who has much knowledge. However, I am just not sure how to change a resolution when you can't even see the screen and you can't see the screen because you can't change the resolution. It's a catch-22. I will never understand engineers or programmers in the least. PLEASE HELP! I have even hooked it up to a 1080p TV and turned the resolution down but when I hook it back up to the 720p TV the settings are still set at 1080p for some reason. It's like whatever display it's connected to, that's what settings it's going to use automatically. I am just out of options except for a re-format. PLEASE HELP!

A:Resolution stuck at 1080p; Resolution changed by game

Before I re-install the OS I would try this:
Boot up in Safe Mode and log in with an Admin account.
Uninstall the Device and Driver for the Video Card (see link below).
Re-boot in Normal mode, and Windows should detect and re-install the device.
Go from there to update the driver as needed.
Uninstall Device and Device Driver - Vista Forums

If that one game is the problem, I'd uninstall it or search for answers how to configure it to not cause the problem.

I also suggest learning System Backup Imaging, so going forward you can easily recover from problems without re-installing the OS and all programs.

Native Resolution for my monitor is 1366 x 768. It's a 32 inch computer monitor. The reason for buying bigger screen for the computer is so that I can have more desktop display area so that I don't have to scroll horizontally to have a clear helicopter view of my subject.

Only then I was made to understand that I am actually restricted by the monitor resolution and hence though my graphic card can support higher resolution, it won't work. So my problem right now is setting the graphic card with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 is giving me blurry images and text. The desktop display area is wide enough to satisfy my need but the blurring object is not acceptable.

My general question would be:
If the graphic card higher resolution doesn't help because it does not match the monitor, is there any smart software that can give me more desktop area with clarity given that resolution constraint? What other alternatives do I have without getting rid of my new monitor?

A:Graphic Card Resolution > Monitor Resolution

What graphics card do you have? Sounds like it is not powerful enough to fill the resolution you are looking for.

Is there any way to create a custom resolution on my laptop or monitor of 1280 x 1024? Our monitors don't have this resolution listed in the display settings, or is this a driver issue?

Cheers,

The resolution availability can be affected due to the graphics card installed. I will have a think about any other factors which may affect the resolution.

things ive checked so far:
nvidia settings ressolution tab: converted it to 1920 x 1080, 1080p
windows resolution settings: 1920 x 1080 (Recommended)

so again, there are no differences between the two when i hooked them up, can anybody tell me any steps to make my display HD?

Is it running at 1920 x 1080 ?

Why do you think you would see a difference ? VGA is analog and DVI is digital, that`s it, as far as I know.

LCD displays aren't the best at playing graphic intensive games the refresh rate just isn't fast enough, try lowering your resolution and set it to 16 bit color other then that you may want to get a cheap CRT monitor even the cheapest CRT will refresh 2 times faster then the best LCD.

I need a new moniter and it needs to be 19" crt flatsquare but I dont really know
which ones are "bad" or good....

those two above are cheap but are they good, one is more expensive then the
other, I wonder why....

If you know where to find some good moniters please tell me.
price range should be in between 140 to 170 euros.

thanks anyway.

A:New moniter, which one?

The Samtron supports a higher resolution, 1920x1440, so you could fit more on the screen with that resolution. I've never heard of Samtron, and only vaguely heard of Iiyama, so I don't know if either are of good quality. I took a chance on my monitor and got a off brand that was half price on sale, it's been pretty good, although not as good as some name brands, but for the price it's excellent, but manufacturers vary.

It's also kind of hard(for me) to tell much else about the monitors, since the pages aren't in English. (what language is that, pardon my ignorance, I can decipher some of it though ).
Edit: I guess it's Dutch.

If it's the cable take it to your local dealer and see if it can be replaced with a compatible one.

hi, im using a 32 inch tv screen as my computer moniter (its hooked up to my graphics card), but before i used a 21 inch computer screen as my moniter (it was hooked up to my MOBO) so before i got my graphics card i used my old moniter, then i got my graphics card and still used my moniter, but now after getting my tv screen connected to my graphics card it does not read my old moniter anymore, i removed the graphics card and my old moniter worked but then i put it back in and it doesn't work

overall: i only want to use my old moniter that hooks up to my MOBO but i don't want to have to get rid of my graphics card, what should i do????

Hey all,

I just bought a new Olympic digital moniter but Windows is still calling my moniter a 'Plug and Play Moniter' and the setting is set on Analogue Output and the Digital option is greyed out.

I have searched but I can't find Olympic's web site so could someone please tell me what it is or tell me how I can install my moniter under WinXP Pro so I can set output to digital.

Thanks

A:New Moniter

well that web site has me stumped, I can't find it either hmmm

May be a fool question but does your video card support digital output and do you have the monitor connected to the dvi connector.

A:Moniter HELP!!!!

Boot your computer into a different mode by tapping F8 while your computer boots and choosing either Safe Mode, or VGA mode. These will load the computer with minimum drivers, which should allow you to change the resolution back to something your monitor can read.

im having trouble with my computer well my other one. its vista 64 bit and all of a sudden when i try to turn it on the moniter says no signal. now my computer powers up and i have double checked all the connections. i have even taken it all appart and dusted everything carefully. i talked to my mob supplier and they even sent me a bran new mother board i put every thing back together and same thing still. i though that if it was my gpu an alarm or sumthin would sound. also i though it would be my power supply but i still get power to all the fans and everything els. does anyone have any info that might help me it would be greatly apprieciated.

here are the stats
bfg nforce 680i lt sli
bfg 8800 gtx 768mb gpu
4 gigs ddr2 6400 ram (2 sticks)
intel q6700 c2 xtream 2.66
bfg 1000w pws
2 10000 rpm 150 gig raptors

A:help no signal to my moniter

I am also having an issue with the same video card so you may want to try this. Whenever I restart or power up my computer I can see the bios check, and the initial XP splash screen, but then lose the video signal as Windows XP is loading. But if I physically unplug the monitor from the video card prior to restarting or powering up, then plug the monitor cord back in after Windows has completely loaded, the monitor signal is there and everything works fine.

Just to quickly reiterate, with the power off, unplug the monitor from you video card, power up the computer, once Windows is done loading, plug the monitor back into your video card and see if you have a signal. I know this is a temporary fix but if it works as mine does at least then you have access to the web for additional troubleshooting on the machine that you are trying to fix.

Happy 4th to everybody.

I've got a Dell Inspiron 1100 that I have messed up. I did a system restore that left off some drivers for the video and audio controllers. While I was looking around in the system data I mistakenly disabled the moniter. Now the screen is off and only will work when I press the F2 or F12 keys. Is there any way to turn the moniter back on?
I tried to hookup an external moniter but it will not come on.
