Gotta love my monitor

Q: Gotta love my monitor

Hello fellow techno-peasants who came to this site for help,

I'll just cut to the chase:

There I am, enjoying a nice session of Mount and Blade Warband, when all of the sudden, BAM! My LG monitor goes to white screen. Completely at random. I initially thought it was just my computer acting up, but NOPE. It's the monitor.

I then thought that maybe it was just the HDMI cable, but when I unplugged that, the screen was STILL white, so it's not that either. It turns white whenever it's turned on, even if there's no cable connected to it but the power cable.

This monitor has never been dropped, has never been mishandled, and worked completely fine up until that moment. It's also less than a year old, and was purchased brand new at Best Buy last October. I opened it up, checked to see what was wrong? Nothing. All the wires look fine to me. It just flat out died.

If anyone could help me with this, I would appreciate it greatly. I attached pictures of the screen as well as the inside of the monitor in case people were interested.

This monitor is an LG 22MK430H-B type with a 19 V power engine.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

so.. the computer worked fine this morning.. then I ran to the store .. nobody else home.. nobody else having use of the computer.. no new downloads in weeks..

now the bars at top of the page have changed.. which is not the first time.. I have just learned to live with windows changing things up at any given time..

But the bad part is NOW when I am on a web site... Yahoo.... different forums including this one,,.. MSN is my home page and problems are there also..in fact all web pages... there is no task bar and no icons at bottom of the screen that have been there for months.. there is no start button... nothing..

the only way I can move from web site to web site is to close out of whatever site I am on.. then both on the start page and the desktop all the taskbar icons and the start button are available... once you go to a web site they are again not available..

again this is a change of working as well as 8.1 can work for months... going to store for about 1 hour or less... to now screwed up.. and again.. nobody else home or with access
anybody got the problem and a fix... I hope.. really not ready for another new computer.. first one lasted 15 years.. 2nd one lasted 5 years.. this one ..1 year???

A:Solved: gotta love it..

to add more info..

I do not know what it is called but always before you could get an information type thing (charms) to come out of the right side of the screen.. That also is gone and I have wore the mouse out trying..LOL..
very strange this 8.1 different every day ..
the clock is gone.. the things you used to be able to' hover' to bring to view are all not working.. ( charms.. there are no charms to the right.. and no 'other web pages to the left)
did a bing and google search but evidently I am the only one having problems with 8.1 since 2013

Okay so heres the deal. I have two different accounts set up with two different ISP's. Lately, the spam filtering on both of them has been great. HOWEVER- I am getting upwards of 200+ messages in my inbox that are bounce back messages from legitamite servers. for instance::: "Undeliverable Mail" or "Mailer-DAEMON" "Status: message has been rejected". Now, I have run multiple scans on my computer with AVG anti Virus, Norton, AVG Anti Spyware and Ad-Aware SE and also a Barracuda Networks system scan. No forms of any sorts of infections. I am guessing that somewhere along the lines ( probably in a forward!!! ) a spam server has got ahold of my email addresses, since it is happening to BOTH addresses, and are using them to spam out since their own email addresses have been blacklisted. Now, both ISP's I am currently with use open SMTP servers. Seeing as how I, one person, can not influence an entire company to switch to and SPA or even SSL SMTP - is there any other ways of preventing this- other than the obvious blacklisting, don't click pop-ups, don't fill out online surveys, reply to foreign emails, etc.
Thank you for any tips in advance

Save HJTInstall.exe to your desktop.
Doubleclick on the HJTInstall.exe icon on your desktop.
By default it will install to C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis .
Click on Install.
It will create a HijackThis icon on the desktop.
Once installed, it will launch Hijackthis.
Click on the Do a system scan and save a logfile button. It will scan and the log should open in notepad.
Click on "Edit > Select All" then click on "Edit > Copy" to copy the entire contents of the log.
Come back here to this thread and Paste the log in your next reply.
DO NOT have Hijackthis fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required.

I am trying to fix a HP Pavillion...

the orig h/d has been formatted and will not START XP Pro that was loaded on another rig... as well as from the original HP rig... Now that I have cleaned the h/d... I am stuck...

I used a WORKING h/d with OS loaded and the HP rig will NOT recognize... But BIOS sees the drive...!!!

I used a VIRGIN h/d... in the HP rig and tried to load and now the h/d gives me the Blue Genie...!!!

h/d will start OS in another rig...!!!

Have loaded OS on another rig and put in the HP but will not load...

Rule Out - H/D & S/W...............

WITHOUT HP RESTORE CD or diskettes...
how do I get a new/different h/d to work in the HP rig, let alone the ORIGINAL h/d...???

I figured putting in a different h/s or reloading the original h/d, that I would be able to upgrade the OS, as well as get rid of that nasty HP promo screen...

Used NEW cables... took out battery & replaced...

Used the Maxtor diagnostic s/w that I dl'd from the site, which is taking care of Quantum drives... and all that did was format but YET... I can NOT load OS...

What can I do...???

I KNOW HP will not help since the unit is a gift from a grand parent to my client's kid for Xmas and NO.... registration or original s/w bundle or restore cd or diskette...

I have a few questions that might be just plain dumb, but I just gotta know and this I believe is the place that I'll get the facts from people who know what they are talking about.

1. Some people have told me it is better to shut your computer down only at night and leave it on durring the day. That it's not good to turn it on then off multiple times per day. Others have disagreed. So what is the proper care of a computer, does it really matter?

2. When you put a computer into Hibernate or standby does it or does it not use less electricity than keeping the computer on?

3. the fan on my computer seems to run constantly and we just cleaned it out -- is that bad? how do I know if my computer is too hot?

A:Do's and Dont's --I just gotta know!

NO it really does not matter unless you have a bad/underpowered psu, it does use less then leaving it on,download speed fan from my sig and post your temps and voltages here

About a week ago, I got on my computer and was unable to play an online video game I have been playing for several months. The day before everything worked fine. At first I focused on the game....reinstalled it, changed settings, etc. But to no avail. I started researching online, and realized that many times, my computer was lagging heavily, programs (malwarebytes, ad-aware, avg free8.5) were becoming non-responsive when opening. This does not happen every time, but anything having to do with video or sound is really having problems. I was able to run the scans, and found a rogue.regtidy and a couple of trojans using malwarebytes and spybot search & destroy. I am lost. I am using Win98 IE5.01SP2 and OE 5.5. I use two email systems and yesterday I thought I would eliminate using OE and so I chose the other email system(Incredimail) for my default. Well, I removed the OE properties and did not save them via exporting them to a file for saving BUT I do know what the settings are. How do I "reinstall" those account settings in OE and go back to OE as my default mail service?? Each time I tried, I was presented with the other email service account name; etc. I want to keep the Incredimail as a second service, if possible. Hope this is making sense to you folks but frankly, I don't understand this myself!! ( Before I did what I have tried to explain above, any time that I would get an email I could open it in either email account. And the account names are NOT the same.)
For whatever it is worth, my former ISP was a dialup account with MSN and I now have DSL with Bellsouth.
I guess I could export the Incredimail account info I have, save it and then open a new email account WITH THE SAME OLD account information and once it is setup, then open a second email account with the Incredimail account info. Please, you tell me cause I don't know how to accomplish this---if it is possible. TIA

Hi,

I hope that somewhere here there is someone who can help me get a handle
on my problem which I finally had to solve by doing a fresh install with a fresh
XP CD. I had thought I fixed it with an "R" option but that was short-lived.
So I'm back again with the question: what was the problem?

The symptom was a yo-yo boot/shutdown loop only as far as the login screen
and "activation" errors. Here are the highlights:

1. XP Home PC
2. Boots normally to login and offers the PW field
4. Regardless of whether I enter a PW or not the PC shuts down and reboots
5. Sometimes at "4" after entering the PW there is an error message stating that "there was an error with verifying the activation" or something similar and then shutdown (at the lower right one reads a text message stating that login is not possible w/o activation.
6. Also at "4" there is a chance to see and get into a "authentication verification" GUI from Microsoft. This passes to the "do it now" or "later" option. "Later" of course shutsdown and reboots. I took the "now" path and get a telephone option, a very long string of numbers and the usual entry fields for the key. This is prefaced by a warning that the existing key "was used too often", etc.
7. I went through "6" with MS on the phone and they gave me a new key. This worked for several boots and then the problem came back. I went through 6 ... Read more

Dear Anyone.

This is actually pretty funny at the moment! I found an empty folder called Dd1203 so I deleted it.  Then I emptied Recycle Bin - and it said it couldn't delete it.  So I used Unlocker to delete it. Unlocker said it HAD deleted it, so I opened the Recycle Bin to make sure - and there was a file called Dd1204!!

So I selected it, pressed DELETE - and got a new file, Dd1205 AND still had Dd1204.  Selected them both, pressed DELETE and got 1205,1206,1207 and 1208.  Selected them all....

I now have a recycle bin bulging with Dd120-somethingorothers. If I try emptying the bin it says CANT DELETE FILE - CANT READ SOURCE FILES.  Now they're not DOING anything.  They all claim to be zero bytes.  But there's gotta be getting on for a thousand of the suckers, they're obviously SOMETHING dodgy or they wouldn't be behaving like this and I don't want them on my hard drive.  But I can 't get rid of them!

Windows XP Mini.  Yup - I run my computer on the Windows that comes free with Hirem's Boot Disk! Works like a charm - for me, anyway.  Small, just sits in the background and makest things work, just what an operating system SHOULD be like.  But now it's got a ton of worrying, empty folders there.

Any ideas?  By the way, I scanned the bin with Avast Free and it said they weren't viruses - but I don't know if I believe it.  Why would they be dodging deletion and replica... Read more

Just set up a sound system/entertainment center on my living room. My computer is in the bedroom and I like to listen to my Panda radio stations immensely. I want to wirelessly send the music playing on my computer to the receiver in the living room.
I tried a VGA pair of devices, but they didn't work. The Dell XPS computer I'm using doesn't have a plug-in place in back that works with the device I tried. I did buy an adapter that allowed me to plug in the red and white RCA cables to it and then it into the sound port, but, this was never intended for that purpose and didn't work.
Is there some device that will allow me to send the sound into the other room and receiver
Thanks (I hope) Shoshana

Hello peeps. I have a satellite L300D toshiba notebook which came with
vista loaded (excuse me while I use my sick bag). I've never known so
many problems with an operating system and so wiped off the hard drive
and installed XP pro sp3. This is where the nightmare began. XP just
wouldn't install, it kept giving me the blue wall of death before even
asking if I agree to the licence agreement. Being as daft as a brush I
went into the bios and changed the hard drive interface to be compatability mode and VOILA it installed XP. Phew that was a long story but now to the
ending.

It obviously uses a SATA Drive in this laptop and it just doesn't seem to be
offering data as quickly as Vista did. I can't remember the other bios option
which was on offer for the hard drive, ahci or something mental but this other
option worked in Vista. Am I losing any kind of performance using compatability mode? If so is there anything I can do about it because
Tosh don't seem to have anything on their download sites.

Many thanks for your time in reading my biography.

A:hey tosh gotta toshiba

You shouldn't be able to tell much if any difference between using AHCI and not using it.

Hello Bleeping Computer gurus!Again, much thanks to RichieUK for cleaning up my desktop; what an excellent job. Unfortunately, my laptop has some type of Trojan horse lurking in the background. I have run Spybot, Spysweeper & Symantec Antivirus and each program has located the Trojan at some point and supposedly quarantined it.. but now all scans are showing clean with no infections. I believe the name of the trojan was DNSChanger or something similar. A:Gotta Trojan-dnschanger Or Some Such

Hey bleeping computer gurus!Since my original post I've upgraded to latest versions of Spybot, Ad-Aware, and also ran a Panda on line scan. Spybot found two trojans: Zlob.DNSChanger and Zlob.DNSChanger.rkt. PandaActive-scan found a trojan, Virus:Trj/dmRandom.GL, but says it was disinfected; a subsequent Panda Active-scan did not find anything. When searching for something on the net, when I click on a link I'm getting re-directed to some type of finder site, even to an adult finder site. Yesterday I accidentally opened some Active X window or something that started a frenzy of warnings and error messages and popups on my PC. I've learned that all the "anti-spyware" and "protection" programs it keeps saying I need are indeed spyware, malware, trojans, virus-laden pests, etc., themselves. I've gotten through doing a HJT scan, and also a ComboFix, and am copying the resulting logs below. I have Windows XP, and also have Norton, SpyBot and AOL's Spyware Protection all on my computer as well. I hope I've put together the info and scans needed to ask for help; if not, please let me know what else I need to do to clarify. I've got it narrowed down to seven:

Half Life Platinum Pack

AvP 2 Gold Edition

Splinter Cell

Halo

And of course, these two there isn't any question as to whether or not I'm getting them!

KotOR

JK 3 Jedi Academy

Basically it's a question of which of the first five I'm not gonna get. I'm a huge Aliens and Predator movie fan, so I think I'm gonna get that one. I heard Splinter Cell is an excellent game, so I'm probably gonna get that one too. Basically it's a question of whether or not Halo is good enough to get, and whether or not Half Life is a worthy buy since HL 2 should be arriving soon.

ok so I downloaded the 64bit version of the RC and installed right away on the test machine, then after setup was complete I changed the desktop to my favorite image (a bullfighter).

Next I downloaded AVG (latest) from download.com, funny thing is that after it was downloaded (when I went to double-click to open), it didnt have an extension, the mouseover gave me a 7zip file, but it didnt have a 7z extension, and when I doubleclicked it asked for what program to open with, huh?

so I tried to change the extension to a zip, duh wrong, then after applying, changed it to .exe, which then gave it a .exe.zip, not good, so I went to change thru properties and removed the zip, and added exe with IE8 as the program to open with, I didnt do it, I tried to give it a different "other" (none) program but it gave it IE8.

So then I went to file and double-clicked to open, and W7 went berzerk, trying to open, then closing IE8 windows so fast you gotta see the video I took.

Here's the link:

What finally stopped this was to revert to old name, zip.

wierd

A:You gotta see this W7 Behavior, weird

usually you get an exe with the avg free download, so maybe you got some strange downloadlink?
and why would you open an exe with IE, IE can barely open webpages ...

A:gotta figure some things out..

There is no avoiding having the exact model unless you can disassemble it and pull out the screen so it can be ordered based on the markings on the screen, which is a better way to do it, anyway.  Find your full Model Number or Product No. http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c00033108

oh boy ... hopefully posting to the correct section

Anyway ... finally upgraded to XP Pro ... everything WAS running great.
Had just installed some software that needed the Anti-virus temporarily disabled.
OK ... everything was fine EXCEPT I forgot to re-enable the AV program.

Sure as luck would have it [and my stupidity], I was surfing the web, and click on a link
that took me where I didn't want to go. Harddrive was flashing, various alerts came up!
I tried to dis-engage ... but apparently too late.

I've scanned with all types of scanners to remove the crap ... but problems remain.

First ... when I boot-up, I now get an alert from my ATI Control Center saying ...

"You do not have permission to change your CATALYST Control Center settings. Please
contact your administrator for help"

Well, I am logged in AS the administrator solely. When I try to manually launch the CC
I get the same message.

I tried to do a 'System Restore' to an earlier date ... but it failed !

BTW ... I use Ashampoo UnInstaller. When I try to install, the program is running extremely
slow when checking disk & registry structure. There is definitely a problem!

I grabbed a copy of HiJackThis ... I hope something obvious shows up.

I'm going to try to download rkill, combofix and adwclear and see if I can find a solution.  If anyone knows of a better way, please HELP!!

Hey, does anyone know applications that can tell me how much power/ram/bandwitdth/fps/ and anything else that can be fathomed my computer is using. I need to find out as much as I can about how my computer runs when it's under a lot of stress. If you gotta know more good, cause maybe you can help the real problem. The real problem here is that my computer is shutting down when I play online games. This has never happened before so I know it's nothing like I shouldn't be playing music and playing games at the same time, or running aim, or something like that. And trust me but I know it's nothing wrong with my houses wiring, power, and stuff like that. It's all something physically, or digitally inside my computer. Anyway I need some sort of monitoring program so I can see if my computer truly can't take it, or if it can, but something is making it give up.

A:Gotta Find Out How Much Power My Pc Is Using

If you have always done this type of gameplaying and have never had a problem before, I would first recommend a routine cleaning of your PC to remove any dust buildup over time. This would include a careful examination and cleaning of all intake and exhaust vents plus a thorough cleaning of the inside components with a can of compressed air; especially in the area of the cpu and heatsink.

Bad image virus, C:\WINDOWS\system32\efcButur.dll is not a valid Windows image. Please check against something about the disket. Thats all I can remember. I'm getting popups and stuff and my computer is extremely slower than usual. And my kaspersky tried to delete it but it keeps comming back. I turned off system restore and it still comes back after kaspersky try to delete it.

A:I gotta virus efcButur.dll

Sry for double posting.
