Q: How do I update the SSD firmware in Yoga 2 Pro?

Hi, Samsung tells me the SSD (a Samsung) firmware updates will come from Lenovo, but I didn't see them on the driver page. The model is MZMTE256HMHP-000L1 Any suggestions? Thanks,Bruce

Hello. Back story, our company has purchased and now rolled out our Lenovo X1 Yoga laptops (model 20FQ).  During the rollout, we installed all of the drivers from lenovo's site via the MDT driver package and then deployed the latest System Inteface Foundation so we could install teh Lenovo Settings app later down the road via the Windows 10 App store.   We have not installed the lenovo settings or lenovo companion apps from the store but are now receiving reports of users getting a message from "Lenovo Companion" that an update is available.  The update that is available is an Intel ME firmware update.  Is there a way to disable or prevent these updates from pushing to users via registry or configuration file? Does the System Interface Foundations app contain the Lenovo Companion app or the update features?   Screenshot of update message attached.  We do have the ADMX templates for Lenovo Companion and Settings in our AD/GPO; would disabling updates in the GPO for Companion prevent these from running even though we don't really have the actual Companion app installed?Thanks!Further details:Win10 x64 Enterprise Edition 1607 build w/all latest patches/updates.

A:X1 Yoga and Intel ME Firmware update being pushed but how?

Lenovo System Interface Foundation (LSIF) is doing this.  The only purpose of this app is to support Lenovo Settings and Lenovo Companion, so if you don't install these apps, there is no point to install LSIF.  One of the features of LSIF is to automatically install "critical" updates for Lenovo software and drivers, such as this recent Intel ME Firware update.

1.  Automatic Updates ? Lenovo System Interface Foundation updates itself automatically whenever a new version is posted to the Lenovo website. Some IT organizations will want to disable this.  The automatic update can be disabled by registry.  To do so, copy-and-paste the below text into a .reg file and then import it into your registry:

Hi all, Yesterday when I turned on the computer and logged in into windows, a warning-window poped-up asking for recomended "Firmware Update" by Lenovo. I ve proceeded with the update. After an intall-restart I wasn't able to log in with my fingerprint anymore. After a small investigation I've realized that are now three devices with problems (Code 31) in my device manager.The devices are:Biometric Devices - Synaptics WBDI - SGXSensors - HID Sensor Collection V2System Devices - System Interface Foundation V2 DeviceSo, besides the FingerPrint, I'm not able to use the Auto-Rotate (when turning the lid into tablet or tent mode) feature and the Lenovo Vantage Software since it asks me to update the System Interface Foundation Driver. What I have tried so far:Reinstall (since I can't rollback) the Firmware Driver: "Type C Firmware for Windows 10 (64-bit) - Yoga 920-13IKB, Yoga 920-13IKB Glass 1.3" (since there isn't a lower version to roll back)Reinstall all drivers from Lenovo web-page (FingerPrint, System Interface Foundation, Chipset, Display, Audio, etc)And finally, Reinstall the operating system Windows 10 64 using system restore I've not clue what to do next and I'm really avoiding opening an RMA. Please help me. Thank you.

This is a heads up message as I was able to recover my system by doing a grub2-install booting from a recovery USB. I must say I had used `fwupdmgr update` before to update my Thinkpad's firmware and it worked flawlessly. However, this last update left my boot pointing at the wiped out Windows boot in UEFI, which rendered my boot broken. If anyone from Lenovo is listening, please try to avoid breaking Linux user's systems . Hello everyone, Lenovo System Update keep asking me to install version 10.0.56.3002 of Intel Management Engine Firmware on my ThinkPad Yoga 12 (Type 20DK) running Windows 10 Pro x64. Once I install the update, a cmd window pops up for a fraction of a second, then my PC restarts. However, the installation seems to fail as System Update keeps asking me to install the update again after the reboot. I did some updates on my Yoga and now my touchscreen no longer works. I have gone to the device manager and updated and checked on it. No luck. My pen works, but the finger touch does not. Nothing else seems to have happened to my computer past the updates. It seems like others seem to have this problem since updating their computers. My computer is no longer under warranty, and since I bought this thing for its touchscreen, I am a little choked that it has gone kaput. Would it have been the update that caused it, or would it have been just a case of it went kaputsky at the same time and it is a mere coincidence? Either way, I am really upset that this machine is broken so soon. Any idea if there is going to be an update to fix this or if it is now just blown?

After performing the May 15, 2018 update, my touchscreen no longer works.  The Wavcom device in device manager is hidden and shows "Currently, this hardware device is not connected to the computer. (Code 45)"  I have done extensive searches in this site and in google and have not been able to find a solution.  It was working fine before the update.

After installing the latest firmware update (V.4.20/5.04/100.3) touch screen is dead. I looked at the device manager and no indication of error anywhere. Can't find device that would require an update - nothing like 'other device', nor under Human Interface Devices.  Noted that during the update it reported several times 'pen not found'.  How to enable touch screen again that worked perfectly fine until this update was installed?

Get a messagebox saying "battery not detected" and it's not charging from mains. So laptop has now turned into a desktop... as needs plugging in continually... making it almost useless for purpose. This happened exactly after firmware update a few weeks ago. By coincidence the management software also kindly informed me that it could manage the battery better and stop it wearing out by only charging up to 90% - fair enough, but don't treat me like a muppet and disable it without any way to get it back. Tons of Windows 10 updates today (after not being able to use it for a few weeks) but still no battery. I tried F1 BIOS but nothing there to enable the battery (only to disable it). This is frankly a joke - timing shows it's due to the firmware update because the battery was fine and lasted a couple of hours right before. In 25 years of countless laptops, have never had this problem - batteries weaken gradually but don't suddenly lock up and require a paid replacement suddenly. How do we run down our original battery properly before polluting the planet? Phil

The linux version of the latest BIOS/ECP firmware (1.44/1.18) for the X1 Carbon 4th gen (type 20FB and 20FC) and X1 Yoga 1st gen (types 20FQ, 20FR) was released Aug 2 (n1ful37w.zip) https://pcsupport.lenovo.com/de/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/thinkpad-x-series-laptops/thinkpad-... Direct link: https://download.lenovo.com/pccbbs/mobiles/n1ful37w.zip That .zip file contains two .cab files, N1FET70W.cab and N1FHT35W.cab, for the BIOS and ECP respectively. Updating the BIOS in linux for my X1 Carbon 20FB worked fine for me with fwupdmgr, but failed for the ECP. This was because the metadata for the ECP update has a typo. Inside the N1FHT35W.cab file is a firmware.metainfo.xml, with a GUID of: 4c2e5b5c-6467-43af-afeb7bc72d96b9c3 This is incorrect. It's missing a dash, and should read: 4c2e5b5c-6467-43af-afeb-7bc72d96b9c3 Modifying this file within the .cab (or extracting it and generating a new .cab) and then flashing that with fwupdmgr fixed the problem. I've attached the modified .cab file (nested in a .zip file for upload). You can check yourself that the only thing that's changed is the GUID line in the .xml file. This typo should be fixed in the source by Lenovo and reuploaded as perhaps a rev 2 for n1ful37w.zip . Hopefully this hasn't happened for any other firmware update files.

Lenovo automatically installed a BIOS (1.39) and firmware update in November.  Lenovo Vantage says these updates were completed successfully. The touchscreen and pen stopped worked after that.  Windows doesn't recognize the pen or touch input anymore.  Firmware tool says "device not found".   Latest BIOS update (1.40) and Windows update in December didn't help.

Hello, the Alpine Ridge update fails. Lenovo Vantage signals that an update is needed. My X1 Yoga touch screen stopped working after BIOS(V1.40), Touch firmware(V4.20) update. My Win 10 is still at ver 1803.I downgraded BIOS. But that doesn't help. Can't find a way to downgrade touch [email protected], any solution? Obviously, I am not the only victim. The title says it all. I'm very frustrated with this problem since I really need to connect my laptop to an external monitor for work. I've read and tried all relative topics in this and intel forums (e. g: https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Lenovo-Yoga-Series-Notebooks/Yoga-920-can-t-connect-to-any-external-mon...), have done all steps mentioned (including firmware, bios and windows update, windows reset, ...) but the problem still persists. Apparently, most users that had faced the same problem been able to get it worked after installing "Type C Firmware for Windows 10 (64-bit)" or the BIOS update provided by Lenovo. I installed them successfully but nothing changed. I am sure it is a software issue since there is no sign of any hardware one (all devices are fine as device manager shows and diagnostics app found no problem). It was just working fine until suddenly stopped working (probably after some recent windows update). I would greatly appreciate any help.

Will Lenovo release a fix for critical vulnerabilities in Intel Management Engine for my Lenovo Yoga 500-14ISK? I have not found it on the official Lenovo list, but Intel's tool says it's vulnerable. I have Intel ME firmware version 11.0.0.1197 and it's a Skylake version of this Yoga notebook. I can't charge my laptop. Luckely I am at 75%, so I have about 3-4 hours to fix this before I'm forced to take it to service. I tried this solution: https://www.gfisk.com/lenovo-yoga-pd-firmware-update-failure-ccg4-two-port-usb-c-controller/but it doesn't work for me. I'm getting desperate I'm supposed to press the power button for 8 seconds and the powering should be back on, but for me the lap top goes off after 3 seconds of holding the power button. I keep pressing the button of course to see what happens. But, when I turn back on, the battery still won't charge. And the firmware update keeps failing. I tried everything according to instructions, but with no avail. Please help! My laptop is off now, so I will wait for solutions here before I turn it back on.

My USB-C to HDMI connection doesn't really work - almost always it doesn't see the external display, so I am trying to install the PD Firmware (Type C Firmware) update, version 1.3.  It goes through the steps but then I get an error message: Update ProgressBootloader is active. Proceeding to update firmware image #1Reading Silicon ID..Silicon ID of file (1F0011AF) doesn't match the device(0). Stopping update there is a similar post here where it was suggested to run msconfig with Diagnostic Startup, reboot, anf then try to run the PD Firmware Update utility.  I tried that but got exactly the same error message. Any ideas would be very welcome! thanks.

In README, new firmware version is "W887904". But my SSD current firmware is "3887904"."W887904" and "3887904" are not same. But is it correct that "No new firmware found."? Or Levono utility program can't find firmware file? "No new firmware found." is too hard to understand. Hi, some of my keyboard keys have suddenly stopped working after ME Firmware update. Few day later I was notified for a new firmware update v11.6 through System Update 5. Unfortunately, it did not install giving an error of "Unsupported Device". Can any one help me how to install v11.6 firmware?Or does any one have an older version of firmware. Machine: Thinkpad Yoga 14 with 5th generation intel processor.

Howdy,I've got a t460p thinkpad, running win10.  It has the dock, and 2 monitors are usually attached to the dock.My lenovo system update wanted me to install the critical security [urgent] update to my intel management engine, the update is to version 11.8.55.3510.  I followed all the instructions, closing nearly everything and the update proceeded normally and quickly, until it froze. The system updater says "installing: Intel Management Engine 11.8 Firmware - 7 [32/64]/8.1/10 [64]"  and"Overall Progress:  91%"The cmd window that's showing the actual install says "FW Update:  [ 99% (-)] Do Not Interrupt"  but the little progress spinning thing has not spun in a long time. (40+ minutes)Every so often (every 5mins?), it the upper progress bar in the "system update" will backup a little bit...then it will move forward again a minute or so later. Umm...I need to use my computer.  It's been about 45 minutes that I've been looking at this screen with no change (other than the backup-forward cha-cha in the gui progress bar).(image to help) (the progress bar is in it's full position, this is what it looks like after the top progress bar moves forward again after backing up a wee bit, when it backs up, it just doubles that gray area at the end, it doesn't move back a whole lot).I am guessing I cannot restart at this point. Can I abort the install and try again?

 Hi there,  I would really appreciate help in relation to this ongoing error. I am prompted by Vantage on regular basis to update the SSD firmware from 6L7Q to 7L7Q. Using Lenovo Storage firmware update tool 1.103. Fails every time, has been like this for months so I am not expecting an auto update fix.  Tries to do it, gets to reboot, and then the error below appears.  "software condition is not ready to update due to some condition" I have also downloaded from Lenovo website manually, and have run the zipped version, with same result. I have looked up Samsung SSD drivers directly and there is no options for this drive. Has anyone had similar issue? Please let me know if you have a fix.  Many thanks.

Hi, since a couple of weeks, system update prompts me to update my NVMe disk firmware. It downloads and runs Lenovo Storage Device Firmware Update Utility, but it always fails with the same error: Update Failed: Firmware update FAILED! RC=0x1 Stopped by a device reason.  This happens to me with the last version of the firmware update toot (FWNV29), but also has happened to me with previous versions. Also, downloading FWNV29 and running it independently from system update leads to the same error. Can someone help? Thanks. The log from fwwinsd.exe (fwwinsd.log) shows the following:[2019/03/27 07:47:09]: CFWWinDlg::OnInitDialog - IN

Hello, I have Carbon X1 5th (20HR) running Windows 10 pro (updated).  Altought I followed the instructions here - https://pcsupport.lenovo.com/cy/en/downloads/ds120390 (This is the page for Lenovo users who wish to update TPM firmware) - and installed the "BIOS Update Utility for Windows 10" version 1.33, Windows still keeps telling me to update the TPM firmware driver.  In BIOS it shows that I have TPM ver 2.0, enabled. Since Windows kept telling me to update the TPM driver, thanks to Google I found out that there is a tool created by Lenovo called "TPM Firmware Update Utility -ThinkPad" (It is worth noting that this tool is not mentioned on the instruction page). I downloaded the tool, but can't understnad how to use it (assuming that I should use it at all, because this tool is not mentioned on the TPM instructions page). Could you please help me to solve the TPM issue described above? Is there a way to check what version do I have? Thanks in advance!

Lenovo Vantage updated the T480s BIOS on 8/9. I immediately started getting a Thunderbolt error when starting Windows 10 64, which says to update the Thunderbolt firmware. I downloaded the current firmware from Lenovo (n22th06w) but I get the following error when trying to update: 0x20D SDK_INVALID_OPERATION_IN_SAFE_MODE What's the solution, Lenovo? Thanks.
