ThinkPad T570 first experiences

Q: ThinkPad T570 first experiences

I bought ThinkPad T570 (Intel Core i7-7500U Kaby Lake / 16GB RAM / 512GB SSD / 15,6" UHD IPS / Intel HD Graphics 620) with ThinkPad Pro Dock 90W 14 days back. In first I updated system to the last Win 10 Pro Creators Update - version 1703 (build 15063.250) which is declared to be fully supported.I expected that it will solve my need for next years, but I'm a little disappointed now, I have the following problems:Annoing background sound somewhere from motherboard, neverending random sound like tss, tsss, ... it looks like something connected with integrated video card, sometime it changes during scroll of web browser windowFrom begin lower half of display sometimes had some flicker issues and content was for short time replaced by some pattern. I updated all drivers to the last versions and now it appears occasionally.I am unable to use 3840x2160 / 60Hz display resolution on external monitor (27" BenQ BL2711U UHD 4K) via DisplayPort cable connected to dock. Monitor is detected, but no video is provided. But if I change resolution to 1920x1080 / 60Hz it is working. If I connect monitor to HDMI on notebook, then it is working on 3840x2160 but only with 30Hz. Other connections like VGA and DVI are also working but they are not able to provide 4k video.I am unable to use my S/N on support pages, it is unknown.

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Does the Thinkpad P51s support the Thinkpad Thunderbolt 3 Dock? I have the Thinkpad P51s with stock Windows 10 Pro and updated to latest drivers and Windows version and installed the latest Thinkpad Thunderbolt 3 Dock drivers. Attaching the Thunderbolt 3 Dock to the P51s as described in documentation, it charges the notebook, however, noting attached to the dock is recognized. I've tested with attaching USB flash drives, headphones, Ethernet, HDMI, and DP, but nothing is recognized nor are any warnings/errors displayed in Windows. While the Thinkpad Thunderbolt 3 Dock is listed as being compatible with the P51s and T570, the notebook order page does not list the Thunderbolt 3 Dock in any of the accessories lists. Lenovo Sales also confirmed that the Thunderbolt 3 Dock is fully compatible with the P51s.  However, I needed to purchase the Thunderbolt 3 Dock separately from the notebook order. What's going on? Has anybody successfully used the P51s or the T570 with the Thinkpad Thunderbolt 3 Dock? Or is this something I need to wait for full support via a future BIOS/driver update? Or perhaps my Thunderbolt 3 Dock is defective? Thanks,Boris

Hi, thanks in advance for your help.I have a Thinkpad T570 with a UK keyboard, I would like to swap it with a french one.I did it for many Thinkpad, but I cannot find any french keyboard for this model ... is there any way to find this keyboard? or is there a model of Thinkpad compatible with the T570 keyboard ? Best regards,

A:Thinkpad T570 - keyboard change

There are two vendors and four french keyboards available for your T570:- FRU: 01EN939, Tachi NBL KBD,FR,CHY.- FRU: 01ER552, Tachi BL KBD,FR,CHY.- FRU: 01ER511, Tachi NBL KBD,FR,LTN.- FRU: 01ER593, Tachi BL KBD,FR,LTN. CHY means Chicony and LTN - LiteON.NBL stands for non backlit and BL - backlit. If you ask me, which one vendor will be better, then in the past LiteON made pretty good keyboards and Chicony one of worst in comparison to other. I have seen, that LiteON's keyboards are available on eBay.  Keyboards for T570 are allowed to be replaced by customer, so you'll not lose warranty after replacing keyboard (obliviously, if you don't damage something in the process).

Hi, I just got a BSOD after clicking on a YouTube link on my fully patched T570, complaining about APC_INDEX_MISMATCH (win32kfull.sys). From what I can tell, this is likely related to a Realtek audio driver, even though I have the latest version already installed. Here's a similar thread for L560 and X260 BSODs: https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-L-R-and-SL-series/APC-INDEX-MISMATCH-on-L560-and-X260/td-p/338.... And another for T460p: https://www.reddit.com/r/thinkpad/comments/4q9nbl/t460p_bsod_in_windows_7_x64_anyone_running_into/. However, the solution there was to update to 6.0.1.7855. My T570 is running 6.0.1.8142, so presumably, whatever the fix was is already in this version. And yet: BluescreenView doesn't even have a snapshot of the dump because it was stuck at 0% like that until I restarted it, so I can't show full details. Has anyone run into this issue on a fully patched T570? Is Lenovo aware?

A:APC_INDEX_MISMATCH BSOD (win32kfull.sys) on ThinkPad T570

I have not had that problem, but if the BSOD was not simply a quirk and continues to occur, there is a later driver available directly from Realtek (6.0.1.8186) that can be found under Quick LInks >> HD Audio Codec Driver at the link below. Realtek High Definition Audio Codecs [and driver]http://www.realtek.com.tw/Downloads/downloadsView.aspx?Langid=1&PNid=14&PFid=24&Level=4&Conn=3 Note:  I am currently running 6.0.1.8186 (vs the 6.0.1.7910 available from Lenovo) on my H50-50 desktop without any problems, but do bear in mind that Lenovo has not yet completed its testing of this version on your system either. Cheers,

Maybe if the base structure is the same, there is a slot waiting for that GC ?

Hi,I recently bought a ThinkPad T570. However if I connect it to a second external screen with HDMI to HDMI I experienced a serious flickering. The screen goes black for 3-4 seconds and then ON for 15-20 seconds and so on. What I experienced is that if I start a game the problem is solved. I believe that is related to the fact that the Intel HD640 is beging deactived and the GeForce start to work. Magically, when I return to Windows the flickering restart. I also use the laptop in the office with the docking station but I did not experienced this issue, even if when I use Windows. I already tried to unistall and reinstall the latest driver, change the HDMI cable, tried the monitor with another laptop (the monitor is working perfectly) but nothing has changed.I am very disappointed because I can't use my second screen to work. Any solutions? Thanks in advance.

I've tried Windows 10 version 1607, 1703, and now have installed 1511 directly out of box from the cd. I've installed the drivers off of Lenovo's website and it still does not work. I have Windows Hello working for the finger print, but when I try to do a face scan it instantly fails saying "Sorry, something went wrong" "Couldn't turn on the camera. Make sure it's working properly". Does anyone know how to get the IR Camera to work on the Lenovo ThinkPad T570 for Windows Hello? I know that it was working originally and is not a hardware issue because when I received the device from Lenovo it was working. I since then applied an image of 1607, upgraded to 1703, and now have wiped everything and reinstalled 1511 from Microsoft's eOpen with no modifications other than installing drivers after the fact and it still doesn't work.

When I first ordered my T570, I ordered it with the cheapest SATA hard drive, so that I could replace it with a SATA SSD that I've had for a while.  A few weeks ago ago, the machine started intermittently halting at the boot splash screen.  I managed to nuke my linux installation and reinstall the operating system, and all seemed fine, until a few days ago, where, mid-lecture, my computer starts throwing kernel panics like crazy---all errors relating to ext4.  It was my assumption that the SSD had finally kicked the bucket.  Thinking that, I ordered a new SATA ssd that arrived today, and I installed it. The problem is that after I installed the new SSD, I couldn't find the drive enumerated in an lsblk run from a arch linux live environment running on a USB drive.  Prior to installing the SSD, I had not used the laptop since the catastrophic failure. I placed the old SSD into the laptop, and same problem: drive isn't enumerated by lsblk nor is it listed in the BIOS. I've harvested an lspci and lsusb output in the hope that I could figure out what is going on.  Here they are lsusb:Bus 002 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0003 Linux Foundation 3.0 root hubBus 001 Device 004: ID 04f2:b5ab Chicony Electronics Co., LtdBus 001 Device 003: ID 13fe:1e23 Kingston Technology Company Inc.Bus 001 Device 002: ID 0781:556b SanDisk Corp. Hello Community, I hope you could provide me with a soluton for a problem below: Recently I received the Lenovo ThinkPad570 and this device is amazing. Intel Core i5-7200U, 8GB RAM, 256GB NVMe, WAN and much more. As I connected it to my home Wifi powered by powerfull and user friendly FritzBox 7430 I am having issues with my Wifi speed connectivity. After running some tests it shows me 4,5 Mbit/s download and 0.8Mbit/s upload. My PS4 runs on wifi aswel, if run a test there it goes up to 46Mbit/s download and 9Mbit/s upload. Connected phones and the tablet are working perfectly as well. I tried to install/uninstall drivers, but nothing seems to help. I just tried to connect it via LAN cable and does not even identify the network, however the FritzBox shows that the Notebook is connected, has full power bandwith etc. I tried the driver install/uninstall as well but nothing helped, still no LAN connection. So basically that is my problem and I am looking forward to receive some suggestions. If you need any additional information on chipset, actual drivers etc. just tell me what you need. Please advise. Regards,

Hi guys, I bought the T570 with their cheapest SATA HDD so that I can clone it and upgrade myself, but once I popped open the back, I found that there's not an M.2 slot available for the upgrade drive (Samsung 960 Pro). According to the manual, https://www.manualslib.com/manual/1240407/Lenovo-Thinkpad-T570.html?page=139#manual, I need a converter of some sort, which I presume replaces the SATA cable and the mount for the much smaller form factor drive. I found this http://www3.lenovo.com/us/en/accessories/memory-and-storage/storage/HDD-BO-ThinkPad-M-2-SSD-Tray/p/4..., but it has 0 information on whether it's compatible with the T570, and whether this is what I need in the first place. Can someone help? Has anyone done this already? Can I pick it up somewhere so that I don't have to wait 5-7 days for it to arrive? I also have a 3-year NBD support contract, but after calling support, I am told they can't just come bring the part. Thank you in advance.

Hi everyone, just joined.

Have been experimenting, in odd moments, with the released version of Win 7 - oem 64 bit.

Working out where it stores all the configs is a nightmare, bits all over the place and some very odd behaviour. Have not got around to dissecting the registry yet, I just pray they have not messed with that too much.

A few observations:

If you edit the name of a desktop shortcut, it disappears. You can get it back with ctrlZ but you have to edit it in Users and ProgramData to change things. Same issue and solution when you Pin something.

Sometimes, when you cold boot you get a blank screen, this is a problem that is in XP and Vista, although I have never personally experienced it, others have reported it to me. Use ctrl alt del to get at Task Manager, then use run to start explorer. Everything then ok.

USB disk drive will not eject - "safely remove" says disk is not removable. Disk manager is correctly configured and nothing seems to be holding the disk open. Have installed "USB Safely Remove" shareware product which does the job. But that is having trouble starting as a service sometimes, I think it is trying to start too soon, must investigate.

Had a look at a couple of tools. "Tweak-7" still needs a lot of work as it does not display properly and some bits just don't work. "Windows 7 Manager" works ok and sorts a few issues. It also contains a crap cleaner that will run on start-up - VG.

The installation, on a ... Read more

I've seen this with a box at work and a particular USB hard drive. Other Flash drives and such don't exhibit this behavior. At home, I've never had this happen...all drives have always safely ejected just fine.

Hey everyone, new here so please be patient!

Just quickly wanted to ask whether anyone has had any problems or issues with Windows 7 on a computer similar to these specs?

Asus P5P41D motherboard, latest BIOS
Core 2 Duo Q8300 45nm
4gb Corsair XMS2 DDR2 800
1gb XFX 4870
160gb sata seagate HD

Looking to complete a new build for myself, and am nervously apprehensive of the windows 7 install, as I've already tried it on an Athlon II based system with DDR3 with ABSOLUTELY NO success whatsoever. Freezing on install which, after a lot of research, seems to be happening randomly to people. It's a windows 7 64 bit home premium OEM disk and I have no reason to believe it's faulty. I've also heard DDR3 isn't particularly great in terms of compatibility with windows 7 and some of AMDs chips.

Thanks in advance!

A:Hardware experiences?

Having never used that hardware, I cannot give a definite answer. I have yet to see a case in which Windows 7 could not be installed after going through the solutions. Read through this post for installation problems' solutions.

Now that ATI's lowered its price and from what i've seen on hardware forums, improved the performance with the latest catalysts, I've been wondering about this card for a while; actually i'd decided to go nVidia with the upcoming major upgrade of my system but ATI is looking tempting with its features (compared to nVidia's midrange 6-series cards).

It's hard to make a decision though, as nv offerings seem to offer much better performance; anyone got experience with the ATI card that could shed light on the performance of the card especially?

Wireless: I have never been able to have a *reliable* wireless connection setup at home.

I've had Netgear and Belkin routers: both I would not recommend.

OK for most of the time.
Other times: wont work, will require a reboot or something.

What I want: something you can leave on and forget about!

Am I doing something wrong?
Should I go for a different make?
If so what?
(I do want things like VOIP facilities _ being able to do things for P2P like port forwarding.)

Thanks!
OM

A:Wireless: why have I had bad experiences!?

There can be many reasons for wireless issues, environmental issues, equipment issues, configuration issues, old firmware, buggy network drivers, phase of the moon, etc. You need to be WAY more specific.

VoIP over wireless is generally a very poor idea, I don't recommend even considering that.

Hi, ive got another thread open open my BSOD, but i wanted to ask specificly about this program called SystemRescueCd to see if anybody here has used it and could help me out. Could i use this to retrieve the data off of my hard drive? and then just reinstall vista?

thanks

A:SystemRescueCd, any experiences?

Please excuse drive-by posting, here.

SystemRescueCD is one of several Linux "Live CD" or DVD "distributions" that you can use for that, if your data files are intact - or maybe if the file system requires repair. SystemRescueCD may be rather complicated to use compared to, say, Ubuntu; things don't work automatically so much.

Currently I have doubts about SystemRescueCD itself, versions 1.3.3 and 1.3.4 - oh, and 1.3.2 - because:

(1) since trying out the virus scanner included on these disks, my Windows system's behaviour has changed - I had disabled AutoPlay for USB devices, and now it is re-enabled. However, I did some other things to the computer as well, right before I noticed the AutoPlay behaviour, notably creating, removing, and re-lettering hard disk partitions, so maybe Windows is just confused. Still, I am unhappy.

(2) I'm typing this on someone else's computer and it has security software installed called Malwarebytes, and Malwarebytes is refusing to let me go to SystemRescueCD's web site (as named in Wikipedia). This could reflect SystemRescueCD having been compromised and interfered with, although up to now the only thing you could say against the software is that the guy running it is French :-) This affects the tone of online support... which is free, however, and his use of English language is very good.

Well, there was one other thing. Oh, and Malwarebytes also won't let me log onto my online e-mail at www.excite.com ... Read more

A:PDAs & your experiences

compaq makes a decent pocket pc. i dont use them much as i prefer to write stuff down with a pen and paper rather than spend $500, but others who use them say a lot of good things.

Hi all
Any decent links to SSD's also any experiences - good and bad.

I really want to beef up the I/O on a laptop so replacing the HDD with an SSD might be a good idea --although does SSD have a standard SATA interface.

Also performance on desktops -- it would seem to me a great place to store system paging / scratch or work areas for Photoshop etc.

The OS doesn't need to be on an SSD as once its loaded very little actually needs to be read from the system disk except when loading a new application.

Photoshop with scratch disk area on an SSD should FLY.
Paging area on an SSD would also make the OS fly as well - especially if you had more than one SSD.

I think having two SSD's would pay MORE benefit in running most applications than getting the fastest CPU since most applications are generally highly I/O bound. It's not a shortage of CPU power that generally causes sluggish performance unless you are heavily into Video editing or complex mathematical functions. - You will still need adequate RAM of course - but most machines come with 3 or 4GB anyway now - even laptops.

The OS will get most of its data via prefetch from the system paging device which needs to be FAST for the best performance. Having the OS on the SSD is just wasting the advantages of the SSD -- if you rarely re-boot the system then you don't need the faster boot that the SSD would give you.

If you run any Database apps (MySQL for example) having the index areas on the SSD should also make the qu... Read more

Hi. Just wondered if anyone had tried upgrading to Windows 10 via the icon. I did it the other day and rolled back to Windows 7. I think Windows 7 is the better OS. I didn't like not being able to have control over which updates to install, didn't need half of it, didn't find it any faster, and some functions didn't work at all (Cortana and Windows App Store). I think a clean install is necessary - but decided to go back to Windows 7. Oh yes and there's no Chess Titans! Aargh - can't live without that!

Maybe I'm a fuddy duddy but I like the simplicity of Windows 7 - it does everything I want, nice to look at and I don't need apps because I have my own shortcuts set up on the bookmarks bar (weather, email and so on).

I also have to have Chess Titans.

I'm building mini-ITX builds for a couple of people, just wondering if people have had any experience with mini-ITX motherboards and which manufacturer to go for?

It will be a Haswell build and there's not exactly a lot of choice out there (looking at H87):
- Gigabyte GA-H87N
- ASRock H87M-ITX
- ASUS H87I-PLUS
Anything I should be aware of? I'm leaning towards the ASRock, the Fast Boot (1.5 secs to Windows 8 logon screen) sounds very interesting,

I had couple of weird experiences with IE10, nothing major, just things that don't make much sense.

Generally speaking, file downloads are initiated by the browsers and scanned by AV software prior to the end user accessing the file. Emphasis being on generally...

Initiated the download of the junkware removal tool, jre.exe here:

Junkware Removal Tool Download

When the download finished, IE10 gives the option of opening the folder, and doing so results in this error message:

Disabling MSE real-time protection doesn't help, it is still the same error message. Download the same file via Firefox, run the executable with MSE real-time protection enabled, and presto, the program runs just fine. Neither Windows 7, nor MSE blocked executing this program.

At times, IE10 might be detected as IE6, which I don't even remember when I used last. For example, opening this page at Palo Alto website:

https://live.paloaltonetworks.com

Gives me this error:

While this could be on Palo Alto's server side detection engine and/or IE10's settings, nonetheless, it's weird.

Again, this is more of "weird" issue than problem from my perspective and can easily be remediated by using the other three browsers installed on my Windows 7 PC.

Maybe we should have a weird experiences with IE10 thread...

A:Weird experiences with IE10...

The red shield icon to the left of JRT in your first screenshot is probably IE's SmartScreen Filter.

I don't see the verbiage that you are seeing. I see what is shown in the two screenshots below when using IE9 or IE 10 (with and without MSE installed):

Please update your specs to tell us the flavor of W7 that you are running.

Members often enough discuss or mention Revo Uninstaller. Does anyone have comments about their experiences with some alternatives, specifically Uninstall Manager (Ss-Tools, Inc.), and Free Uninstaller v1.1 (CBS Interactive)? These two are supposed to work in Windows XP and 98.

A:any experiences about alternative uninstallers

Hi, CafeJose, I found that Glary Soft Absolute Uninstaller, in my opinion is the best there is.
Better than Revo Uninstaller, Absolute Uninstaller, is exactly what it say, according the website:

Completely Uninstall

The Standard Add/Remove Program often can't uninstall applications completely .It often leave files on the hard drive ,associated desktop icons, Start menu entries and keys in the registry. Big registry and large number of unnecessary files make the system slower and slower. Uninstall Manager can clear them in seconds!

With Revo Uninstaller, it doesn't remove everything, therefore one has to go to the registry editor and manually remove anything related to that program.

I am currently using Microsoft Security Essentials (MSE) and MalwareBytes AntiMalware (MBAM) Premium and MalwareBytes AntiExploit (MBAE) on my Win 7 Pro 74-bit PC (Intel i5), without any issues. All three programs operate full-time; they are not "on-demand" scanners. They all uses heuristic analysis.

After reading several AV tests, it appears that I can "up my game" with respect to detection rates if I use something other than MSE. I've recently tried MBAM and MBAE with Avast! and AVG, with mixed results. I have reverted back to MSE -- for the time being.

I would like to try another highly-regarded AV program -- EMSISOFT. I have had several recent email exchanges with their tech department and am very impressed with their professionalism. However, EMSISOFT states unequivocally that their AV should NOT be used with any other AV or AM program. I am hesitant to ditch MBAM Premium (paid for) which I've found to be excellent. On the MalwareBytes forum, one user has had success using MBAM and MBAE with EMSISOFT.

I'd appreciate any comments from users of EMSISOFT on Win 7 PCs.

Thanks,

Louis

A:EMSISOFT AV with Windows 7 Pro 64-bit PC -- Experiences?

Well...based on the tremendous response to my initial RFI, I installed Emsisoft Antimalware (EAM). I think it's OUTSTANDING. It is currently running happily (and concurrently) with Malwarebytes Antimalware Premium and Malwarebytes AntiExploit.

IMHO, EAM is superior to MSE, AVG, Avast!, and Bitdefender -- which I have recently tried. I'd used MSE for years, but it's now long of tooth and ... retired.

I did turn off Win 7 Pro x64 "Windows Defender" so that would not conflict with my other real-time heuristic protection.

First tried out IE10 by selecting the IE tile. Did not like the resulting screen. Didn't really see any options anywhere.

Migrated IE9 settings from Win7, imported them into IE10 (on the desktop), launched IE10 from the desktop -- able to see the favorites, cookies, etc.

Relaunched IE10 using the Tile -- no favorites, just recent links.

So, does this mean that Favorites will no longer function in IE 10 when you launch it via the Tile?

A:The new IE10, favorites, and two different experiences

Yes.
They both work differently.

Hey everyone, I'm looking into buying a projector for my dorm next year and I wanted input as to what's good and what's not good. My budget is about $800. I'm going to be watching TV, movies, and playing my PS3 on it. It needs at least one HDMI port, and I would like it if it had a coaxial cable input too. I don't know if they make projectors like that though.

If anyone has one that they like or knows of some good ones, let me know. Thanks!
