I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi,

I am running Windows Xp SP3, 3 gig of Ram and am having an issue with my Gigabyte Motherboard, model number 81945P-G-RH and my BIOS version is F4.

I have recently noticed an issue on my bios post screen, when my PC is started the PC does the memory test, where it should say

Memory Test: XXXXXXX (x = amount of RAM)

all i see on my screen is

Memory T

I can not see the test being undertaken, after about 2 and a half minutes the memory test will complete at which point i can see the full words Memory Test and how much memory was tested as well as my master and slave drives listed.

I CAN NOT skip the memory test by pressing space bar or esc, i can only enter the bios via the delete button and i only enter the bios once the memory test has completed.

I can still run windows normally but i do not like that i am having to do a memory test everytime i start my PC. I would like to point out while in XP, the same amount of RAM shown when the test completes is consistant with what is shown in the "My Computer" properties.

I have tried all versions of my bios but still it is doing the memory test. I would appreciate any help in getting this fixed. I have not been able to find away to disable the memory test in the BIOS.

I hope you get back to me at your earliest convenience, thanks.

A:RAM fails Windiag Memory test, crashes Memory 86+

Hello and welcome to Techspot.

Your problem is almost certainly caused by faulty ram.

The fact that memtest86+ is reporting ram errors, means your ram is bad.

One of your minidumps crashes with memory corruption.

Try one new stick of ram, and test your system.

The other three minidumps crash with Windows system file errors, but this can be attributed to faulty ram.

Also, one minidump crashes at SYMEvent.SYS=Symantec Event Library.

This is a known issue on some machines/configurations.

Turning off the live updates can sometimes solve this. Otherwise try using a different security product.

Regards Howard

I have narrowed it down to three possibilities. Game guard the hacking prevention system built into the game is not compatible, not having enough ram to process the game request at the time i try to run the game or There might be an issue with AMD catalyst control system being out of date and is interfering with my game. Is there anything I can do besides uninstalling and re-installing the game? I have done this 3 times and it is only a temporary fix since the error is back after 2 game plays.

(I hope it's the right category to post this).

Would it be right to assume that Windows Memory Diagnostic Tool tests all memory, not just RAM? During a test, it has reported problems on the 1st run, whereas MemTest 86+ hasn't done so after a day of testing.
I've been dealing with memory-related BSODs lately, and it seems now, after replacing the RAM, that the graphics card is at fault (which has further been proved by an 8E BSOD during a specific VRAM-test).
So, is Windows Memory Test meant to check VRAM as well?

Thank you!

First windows memory diagnostics isnt useful for diagnosing memory errors. It just doesnt stress the ram enough. You need to use memtestx86.

If you get errors the stick or the mobo slot is bad.
Download a copy of Memtest86 and burn the ISO to a CD using Iso Recorder or another ISO burning program. Boot from the CD, and leave it running for at least 5 or 6 passes.
Just remember, any time Memtest reports errors, it can be either bad RAM or a bad motherboard slot. Test the sticks individually, and if you find a good one, test it in all slots.

Now then it may or may not have been bad then (XP). Memory like anything else is fine until it goes bad

Let us know if you have specific questions and we would be happy to help

Hi,
I own Dell Inspiring 545s, customized with expandable upto 8gb RAM, 64x system. I just recently discovered the possibility to enhance my RAM to 8 GB using all 4 slots, so I bought teo extra 2 GB RAMs. I own Windows 10 Home 32 bit version, which I want to upgrade to 64bit.
I checked the system compatibility and figured out I can upgrade, and so I began.
I inserted the new RAMs first to unused slots, keeping old RAMs where they were. Then I ran my Pc for a test drive, and faced BSOD errors, not letting me boot into system at all. I thought the new RAMs might be causing the problem, so I tried testing RAMs and slots in following way.
1. Old RAMs in used slots = worked OK.
2. Old RAMs in unused slots = worked OK.
3. New RAMs in used slots = worked OK.
4. New RAMs in unused and Old RAMs in used slots = worked OK.
Afterwards, I began upgrading Windows 10 from 32 bit to 64 bit version. The upgrade finished, and I ran Windows updates. After 18 % progress of the Windows update, download stopped, forcing me to restart system.
Next, I rebooted, and faced BSoD error again, so I tried restarting, but system never loaded till boot screen. So I rebooted to DVD of Win10, which after initial load, turned a blank dark blue screen with no messages.
Afterwards, all my efforts to boot to system or to Windows 10 install DVD failed, resulting either in blank black screen with a cursor post the failed boot attempts, or the blank dark blue screen post the failed boot-from-DVD attempts.

Hi,

I have been suffering "memory could not be written" error messages for weeks now. It occurs when I close almost any of my applications, and when online games change maps. At first I thought it was primarily mozilla stuff (FF, TB, NS) so I removed them, but no change. I've ran current NAV, ad-aware, Ccleaner, defrag, and disk cleanup -- but no change . I ran the microsoft memtest thing, found no problems. It doesn't crash programs, just pops up when I am closing them anyway, except for the halting online game play. I can't find any ryme or reason to point to any specific program.

I have searched extensively online, but only similar issues I could find pointed to problems with programs I don't have or use. I have XP with all the usually updates, etc.

Any ideas anyone, please?

Thanks,

Vespid

A:I need help with low virtual memory error message

First thing to suspect is how full your hard drive is. If it's crammed full, particularly your C: partition, it doesn't give your swap file (Page file) much room to breathe. The page file (swap file) is where the stuff held in virtual memory is stored. Windoze uses that, when the physical memory is used up.

The next obvious thing to do, is go to Help and type "virtual memory". That'll tell you how to get to the settings of it.

In there, I would think that "Let Windows handle this stuff" would be your best bet.

Let us know how you get on, ay?

When I pressed F1 to configure the memory, the amount of memory shown is correct. When I F2 to boot, the OS started without a problem. When I removed the newly installed RAM from the system and rebooted, the error message went away.

Yes that's the culprit.

I had the same errors, I started the VM just after the update and so it was a lucky guess that KB 2995388 was at fault.

Fixing a memory leak was one of the main objectives of the update according to the MS literature.

Hi and Welcome to TSF

If you are using Msconfig's selective startup...please uncheck it as I need to see everything running.

Before attacking an adware/spyware problem with hijackthis make sure you have already run the following tools. Download and update the databases on each program before running. Ad-Aware? SE Personal Edition
*Note* For Ad-AwareSE also install the VX2 Addon Cleaner To run this tool once Adaware is updated click on Add-ons in the lefthand column. Select VX2 Cleaner V2.0 and click Run Tool. Click "OK" , then, if something is found, click "Clean" as in the directions given. Click "Close", and exit Ad-Aware.
Spybot Search & Destroy
CWShredder

Also make sure you are using the the latest version (1.99.1) of HijackThis and it's installed in it's own folder on the root drive. (C:\HJT)

Perform an online scan with Internet Explorer with Panda ActiveScan
** click on "Free use ActiveScan" located on the top right hand corner Click Scan your PC & a 'pop up' window shall appear. *ensure that your pop up blocker doesn't block it
Click Scan Now
Enter your e-mail address & click Scan Now ...begins downloading 8 MB Panda's ActiveX controls
Begin the scan by selecting My Computer If it finds any malware, it will offer you a report.
Click on see report. Then click Save report
Please post that log in your next reply.

Hello,

I was wondering if somebody can help me fix the following problem:

It looks like I've got a virus - everytime when I try to start any program (Windows Update, IE, etc) I would get the "The memory could not be read" error message. I was trying to use the "Windows Recovery Console" - restarted computer and selected "Recovery Console" but it crashed with the "blue screen of death".

Running Windows XP SP3.

Thank a lot,
Vitaliy

I posted this previously with very little response, so I am trying it again.

Whenever I close a program or Internet Explorer, I keep getting variations on this error message -

"The instruction at "0x0342f2c0" referenced memory at "0x00000ba0". The memory could not be read."

My XP is fully up to date and all the service packs are installed.

Can someone please tell me how to remedy this problem?

By the way, whenever I Google that error message, I am lead to a website that wants to sell me a program called ErrorSmart, or some other diagnostic type of software. I have no problem buying one of these if they really can correct this problem.

I would really appreciate any guidance on this from someone that has experienced this problem and knows how to correct it.

Thanks -

JK

Hello.
I have a HP 6835 PC, I've updated the unit by installing a larger hard drive, increasing the RAM memory to 512 and installed Windows XP Home. also drivers for a Canon printer and driver for a wireless network card. Everything works as expected, until I go through the shut down sequence for the PC. The system terminates normally but will not turn off the PC or the monitor, I get the following; "Hardware Malfunction" NMI: Parity check/ Memory Parity error. This is presented on a blue screen and I have to press the power button to turn off the PC. I have tried to remove the RAM chip on at a time and restart the PC with the same results, I have also tried different chips with the same end results.
Any ideas on how to correct this headache?
Thanks

Every now and then I get a message telling me my virtual memory is too low. This usually happens when I run an anti spy/ad programme. This happened once after I ran an AVG anti spy system scan and twice when I ran a panda scan. Is this a genuine message or a fake from a virus/spywear?

A:Error message - low virtual memory

Probably a genuine message .....what memory (Ram) do you have in the PC?

I am having problems when I try to forward emails from Outlook Express.
I can do three or four and then I get an error message saying "low memory".
I have a fairly new computer running windows xp home and have hardly any programs on it. Nothing that is eating up all this memory. I have increased the virtural memory and that didn't help.
When I get the error message I have to get out of Outlook and start it up again to even read the rest of my messages.
I have deleted all the cookies and history. Doesn't help.
Any one have any suggestions?
Thanks!!!

Hey Gang,

I've getting this error message twice in two days:

D:\Windows\system\rundll32.exe
Insufficient system resources to complete the requested operation.

This error just happened after the computer was in idle for a few minutes. I hadn't been playing games or working with graphics.

Mobo is Epox 8kmm3I-X. Athlon 2600 cpu, winXP SP2 OS.

RAM was gotten from Compucare several months ago. It is 512mb, PC 2700 DDR1.

Only things that are running are Norton AV 2005 and Sygate Personal Firewall Free Edition.

- Note: I originally post this in the Hardware forum thinking that something was wrong with my RAM. However after extensive checking we discovered that my RAM was okay.

Telegramsam suggested I get rid of Sygate and use Windows Firewall instead. He also had me run Spybot, Adaware and CC Cleaner. I wasn't able to update adaware but Spybot did remove several malware.

He also wanted me to run a Hijackthis. He suggested I post here because there are people here who are better able to help me. Here it is:

Download http://downloads.andymanchesta.com/RemovalTools/SDFix.exe and save it to your Desktop.

Double click SDFix.exe and it will extract the files to %systemdrive%
(Drive that contains the Windows Directory, typically C:\SDFix)

Please then reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following :
· Restart your computer
· After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, tap the F8 key continually;
· Instead of Windows loading as normal, the Advanced Options Menu should appear;
· Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode, then press Enter.
· Choose your usual account.
· Open the extracted SDFix folder and double click RunThis.bat to start the script.
· Type Y to begin the cleanup process.
· It will remove any Trojan Services and Registry Entries that it finds then prompt you to press any key to Reboot.
· Press any Key and it will restart the PC.
· When the PC restarts the Fixtool will run again and complete the removal process then display Finished, press any key to end the script and load your desktop icons.
· Once the desktop icons load the SDFix report will open on screen and also save into the SDFix folder as Report.txt
(Report.txt will also be copied to Clipboard ready for posting back on the forum).
· Finally paste the contents of the Report.txt back on the forum

I am having a memory and disk space problem. I get this message all the time now. I have a soyo motherboard, intel 650 cpu, 650 megs of ram, 20 gig hard drive, stv velocity 128 video card with 8 megs of memory, 2 cds, 2 floppies, one zip drive, one HP printer, and a Microtek scanner.

I installed tweak dun to speed up the modem,XTEQ X-SETUP to tweak up windows and Cacheman to manage the memory. In Cacheman I set it to power user, that didn't help so I then set it for video user and that didn't work. IF I open 2 or 3 programs, (netscape, email) I get after a few minutes the message not enough memory or disk space please close some programs. Resourses are at 69% and hold there steady. Could this be a video card problem and if so what is a good video card. I have tried about 3-4 different one and never has the video been right but it never has been like this either. Usually after sitting with no use the modem lights will change to a weird icon but that was about all it ever did until today.

Can anyone help please.

Thank you, Rick [email protected]
