Lenovo L440 - Turn on slow

Q: Lenovo L440 - Turn on slow

Hi, I have a Lenovo L440 and when I turn on my laptop, its take more less 5/6 secs to turn on the screen and show me Thinkpad screen. I compared my laptop whith a same model in my work and I saw that the laptop in my work turn on faster than my laptop (2 secs). Can you tell me if 5/6 it is normal or how I can improve this? I have the last version of the BIOS and I buy a SSD and it is frustrating that the laptop take much time in turn on the screen when windows start very fast. Thanks!,Mati

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi L440problem! Welcome to our forums community. When was the last time it worked properly? Have you made any changes or any updates before the issue arise? Kindly check if the Airplane mode is turned off:--> click Settings --> Network & Internet --> Airplane mode. If the issue is the same, check the wireless driver under the device manager if there is an error or is it grayed out. If not, uninstall and restart the computer. Update us on how it goes.

Hello everyone, about a month ago my lenovo laptop charger died so I ordered one straight away, it took a month to arrive and in the period I used the laptop a couple of times. The battery died so much it got to a critical battery splash screen and wouldnt boot to windows. So for two weeks I left the laptop in my cupboard, when the charger finally arrived I plugged in the laptop AND nothing... There was no light on top of the "i" and the laptop doesn't turn on, I've done the "30 second trick" already and other stuff bun none of them work. Please leave a suggestion and thanks.

Hi Ms,

Welcome to Lenovo Community!

We understand that your display is not working in your L440 laptop.

Issue might be with the LCD cable. Since the external display is working fine there is no issue with the motherboard.

Note: As per the Lenovo policy, the warranty will be void if the laptop is dismantled by yourself.

We would like you to visit the nearest authorised Lenovo service centre to purchase the power supply.

Service Center link - https://support.lenovo.com/in/en/contactus/findaprovider

Hope this helps. Do post back if issue persists!

Best Regards,

Hello. I have Lenovo L440 laptop. As I remember BIOS is Phoenix. When I turn on my laptop, it makes 1-3-3-1 (1 signal, pause, 3 signals, pause, 3 signals, pause, 1 signal). I could find in Internet what those signals mean. I could find only 1-3-3. Tell me please, what is wrong with my laptop? Thank you.

A:Lenovo L440 makes 8 signals (1-3-3-1)

Hello and welcome,

From the (English) Hardware Maintenance Manual - ThinkPad L440, L540

One short beep, pause, three short beeps, pause, threemore short beeps, pause, and one short beep

Shut down the computer immediately. Ensure thatmemory modules are installed correctly. If they are, andyou still hear the beeps, have the computer serviced.

That would seem to indicate memory issues.

Hi,I have replaced CD-ROM by HDD Caddy with SSD (Samsung 850 EVO 250GB) in my Lenovo ThinkPad L440 (20ASS3GT0) as a second storage device (not one with the OS). When I'm trying to start the system, I'm getting a message "Configuration changes - restart the system." and the system reboots again and again. What is more, I can't access the BIOS any more - pressing F1 does not work. Updating to the newest version of BIOS (1.85) does not help. After removing HDD Caddy everything works fine. I have tried some of the configurations below: Removed the battery, pressed the power button for 10-15 sec. and rebooted with AC Adapter connected - still got message "Configuration changes - restart the system."Removed HDD from standard SATA port and connected it using HDD Caddy - cannot boot into the system. There is no message "Configuration changes...", HDD is detected but it is not on the list with bootable devices (there is only one option to boot over the LAN).HDD Caddy connected with no storage device - boot into the system with no problem. The problem is, that I need two storage devices - one for the OS and second one (using HDD caddy) for another data. Could anyone help me to solve that issue?

Hi, I started having weird after-wake up BSODs (bugcheck: 0x00000133) last week. I don't recall installing or udpating any software (other than Windows update) nor changing hardware configuration.
The BSODs are not regular and don't happen after every wake up, just circa every second third. It seems that they're slightly more likely to happen more times in a row but other than that there doesn't seem to be any way to predict them. Once a BSOD happened during normal use and not immediately after wake up (was about 2 mins after wake up).
The exact way they occur is following: Laptop gets waken up, is normally responsive for about 1-4 seconds, freezes, and after variying amount of time (sometimes seconds, sometimes minutes) fall into BSOD.
Event viewer (system logs) doesn't show anything with the exception of some printer-related problems that have - however -timespamp indicating that they-re after-crash problems. There're no System logs with timestamp in between wake up and crash and the after-reboot ones doesn't provide any useful information.
The laptop runs Windows 8.1 x64 with Ubuntu in dualboot which seems to be unaffected (can't say for sure, don't use it as much).

Hi there! I am having problems with my Lenovo s10-3t. I was still able to use it before it didn't turn on. I used it at school and when it notified me that I only have 10% battery left, I turned it off till I reached home and charged it from 11:00pm-1:00am (which I usually do). When I turned it on that morning around 9:30am, it won't turn on anymore. With battery on, the battery indicator will just blink once and will not continue booting. Not even the power indicator nor the hdd indicator will lit. The screen is not displaying anything, no logo, nothing.. Please help me. I did all the suggestions I've searched here in the internet but nothing happens... Thanks!

This laptop won't turn on screen does not even flicker. The power light does come on and the battery does charge. I know this because the light blicks orange if it is charging and eventually goes back to white when complete. I have replaced the mother board and the lcd with absolutely no change. I have removed battery power over night and no change. I've removed both battery and cmos battery overnight and no change. The only reaction other than the power indicator light and charging lights is that the pc will beep when the power adapter plug is inserted or removed. Also, I cannot turn the power off. If i deprees the power button for about six seconds it wil turn off and turn right back on again anfter i release it.

My lenovo z50-70 have run in to a bit of a problem and i think it is either due to the motherboard or the power socket cable. When the battery is plugged in aswell as the power chord the little orange battery light is lit but turns of briefly every few seconds. I can't start the pc though. When the battery is not plugged in but the power chord is i still cant turn on the pc. When i try turning it on it seems to start the fan and do the normal routine but for less than a second. Then it turns off and tries to start again a few seconds later with the same result. So it just keeps looping in a state where it is never powered for more than half a second or something like that. I guess it is either the power socket cable that needs to be changed or the motherboard is broken, but is there any way to find out?  Thanks EDIT:Btw, i tried the static electricity thing by holding down the power botton for 30 seconds while there is no battery or cable attached but it didn't help

I have a Lenovo Yoga 3 bought in Oct 2015 that will not turn on. I have tried pressing the power button for 30 seconds and also for one minute and then trying topower up and it doesn't work. I took it to a repair shop and they removed the battery and reinserted it and nothing happened.  This is the second major problem I have had with this machine since I bought it. The first issue was a faulty touch screen that required it being sent in for repair. Now 6 months later this power problem shows up. This is extremely disappointing as I felt I did good research before I decided to buy this machine. Any suggestions before I go out and buy something other than a Lenovo product? Thanks!

I have a Lenovo Y70-70 Laptop. Yesterday, the built in screen randomly stopped working. I am able to use it by plugging in a HDTV via the HDMI port. What can I do to diagnose and fix the built in screen? I also noticed that one of the USB ports on the left side is damaged. Neither of the 2 USB ports on the left side work. I am not sure if the damaged USB port has anything to do with the monitor not working.  I ran a full hardware diagnostic using the Lenovo service center. No issues were detected. What can I do to try to diagnose and fix the monitor issue? **Also I would like to add that the laptop warranty has expired and I can't extend it because it has been 30 days past the expiration date. So about 1 month ago, my sister was coming from the kithcen upstairs down with her lenovo laptop in sleep mode, she sent me to bring her charger and so i did. We then plugged thecharger in and tried to turn on the laptop. All that happened was the key board lit up and the cpu fan turns on for about 3 seconds, and the laptop does this in a loop until the battery dies. But it does not do this if you disconect the battery and just use the plug, i have tried so many thing, i have tried disconecting power and battery and holding power for 30 seconds, and then pluging it back in. There was only one issue prior to this and it is that the usb 3.0 port that is mounted on the mother board is broken.Note That the charging light does not turn on. My theory's1. The battery is broken, i did test the battery and on the volt measure it said open loop.(likely)2. The usb 3.0 somehow fried part of the mother board, but not all of it since the cpu fan, power light, and the keyboard still work.(unlikely since a fried mother board nothing works)3. The charger port is broken.(unlikely since the battery does charge, but the laptop does not turn on without a bettery).

Hello. I have a lenovo G50-45 which I wiped clean and installed Win 8.1 x64 on it yesterday. However I have run into a big issue which is I cannot find any way  to turn on wireless. No drivers for wifi work either. I am stumped, please help me, this is a friend's laptop.Thank you!!

A:Lenovo G50-45 - there is no way to turn on wireles...

hi anabella1234,

Welcome to the Forums.

If you're already installed the driver below then it's likely that you have a different type of wireless card installed

WLAN Driver (Atheros, Broadcom) for Windows 8.1 (64-bit)

This may also explain why you still have Network Controller entry in the device manager --which is your wireless adapter.

In this case, can you follow this guide on how to find the hardware ID of the adapter or send me a PM regarding your machine serial number so I could check the brand and type of the wireless card.

Let me know your findings.

Regards

Hi there, I have an x260 laptop which I bought two years ago, refurbished. It was running without problems til a few days ago. Two weeks ago, I upgraded the RAM, from 8 to 16gb, and switched to a larger SSD. It was running fine as well until a couple days ago. It started with blue screen of death. After resetting, I would get either bsod or simply a freeze, screen would flicker sometimes. Now, it won't boot at all. While the light will turn on, and the fan will spin, I don't even get to the lenovo splash screen. I was able to mount the hard drive elsewhere and my personal files are fine. I tried a variety of things, such as reseating memory and hard drive, removing the cmos battery and putting it back (I also replaced it with a new one), running on AC only, battery only, the trick where you hold the power button off for 30 seconds (or many intervals of 5-6 seconds, there are a few versions of this online) but still won't work. At some point early I also tried booting using my previous configuration (old hard drive and memory), that didn't make a difference either. Is there anything else to do, or is some part of the motherboard simply fried? In which case would it be worth replacing? Thank you for your help, and apologies for the long post.

Hello,I've got an annoying problem with my Lenovo Yoga 700 laptop.Today plugged in the charger and started working on my laptop (I'm sure I plugged it in correctly) but I kept gettings messages about low battery level. I checked my charger but I can't really remember if the battery was charging (I suppose not if I was getting those messages). Then my laptop turned off due to low battery power.  When I tried to turn it on (with plugged in charger) I only saw the low battery indicator flash 3 times and nothing. And I thought that my charger was damaged. But It is not! It is because after some reading I decided to open the laptop and unplug the battery. Once I've done that I plugged in the charger and the laptop (without battery) normally turned on! I turned it off and plugged in the battery and it did not turn on now! Even though the charger was working fine (because a minute before I turned the laptop on without any battery plugged in). 2nd try:The laptop works completely fine without the battery. Then I've tried turning on the laptop and while it was running I plugged in the battery. Immediatelly after plugged in the battery the white power light turned off and the orange light was blinking even indicating low battery level, even though my charger was plugged in.Windows was showing that I had 1% battery level and it was not charging. Then my laptop after half a minute went dead as though I didn't have my charger plugged in and my battery went dead. 3r... Read more

Remove the battery and AC adapter
Remove the hard drive and wlan/wwcan cards

Re attach the AC adapter and boot
If you don't hear a series of loud beeps it probably means a hardware issue.

A:PLZ HELP lenovo m58 computer does not turn on at all

Even though your computer will not turn on, the data on your hard drive (HDD) should still be fine.      Your computer should use an external "laptop style"power supply that looks similar to this one.    First make sure that the power cord going to the outlet is not damaged and is plugged in completely to the outlet and the adapter.   If that is not the problem, then you can test the power supply output using a multimeter to see if it is putting out 20 Volts DC, and if it is not, you will need to replace the power adapter. Note:   Your adapter may not have a center sensor pin (#2).    Best of luck,

A:Lenovo Y50-70 wont turn on at all

Hello there, I just got the same problem this morning with my Y50-70. It suddenly turned off while I was working with Win7, just a black screen, power off. So I tried to power it on again and it failed, simply no reaction at all. The only thing working is the battery LED when the AC connector is plugged in. My Y50-70 is only 5 weeks old and worked without any problems until today ;-( I called the support at Lenovo and they told me to "hard reset" by pulling the power cable and pressing the power button for 20 seconds....no success at all. Finally after several tries I decided to send my Y50-70 back to Lenovo. It seems to be a hardware problem. Lenovo offer 2 years of warranty for the Y50-70, because of that I decided not to open it. Letīs see how long ist takes until I have my - hopefully working- Y50-70 back.Perhaps you have more luck than I.Greetings from Germany!
