Please Help... I've accidentally deleted important data from drive

Q: Please Help... I've accidentally deleted important data from drive

Hi.
I'm not sure this is the right forum to post this, if not let me know.

The Problem: I accidentally deleted some important data from a hard drive. I desperately want to rescue at least some of it. It is a folder containing a large number of digital photos.

This is what I've done:
1. accidentally deleted files
2. deleted the three partitions that were on the drive and made the drive into one partition
3. formatted the drive using Windows Disk Management tool in Administrative Tools (Windows XP). I used the "Quick Format" option rather than the "Full Format". The file system of the drive (also before formatting) is: NTFS
4. Currently there is new data on the drive. I'm using it as a backup drive now.

This all happened a few days ago. Only now I have realized the goof up.

Please, if there is any way you know of that I might best be able to salvage any of the lost data, I'd REALLY appreciate it.

Thanks!

I recommend downloading and running DRP. It's a recovery tool that has been proven to recover files that most other programs have no luck with. I've even recovered files from freshly formatted or partitioned drives.

You can download it direct from this link http://goo.gl/v51TwD. (This link will automatically start a download of DRP that you can save to your computer.)

I've signed up to this site just for this issue which I've had for over a year. Here are the details:

Samsung laptop RF511
While I was cleaning out all the extra programs the laptop came with, I accidentally deleted something that was crucial for my disk reader. Whenever I pop in any data disk or movie, the computer struggles for a few minutes then gives up, as if nothing has been inserted. Oddly enough... I don't believe this always happens with music CDs. The computer also hasn't be able to let me burn anything on a blank disk. I often receive the "Please insert a blank disk" message, when one is already inserted.

This is getting really frustrating since I have a lot of data to backup and absolutely need help! I'm not a programmer and would need thorough explanation and a walk-through for this please.

I went to the Samsung website and looked at what might be missing (had no idea what I was doing...) I downloaded something called the BIOS updater, which did nothing unfortunately.

Please let me know if something sounds familiar and how I might be able to replace this bloody program I foolishly deleted!
Thanks a million.

I don't think I was clear enough in my explanation.... I don't require a program to copy/read/burn. The problem is the laptop itself. It does not recognize any disk I inset. Nothing pops up on my E: drive....

Now this is just a guess that may save you a full re-install.
Install a CD/DVD burning program and it may correct the fault. Also Windows builtin burning is not the cleverest of tools.

Help! accidentally deleted important file. How can i get it back?

A:Help! accidentally deleted important file

DO NOT USE THE COMPUTER THE FILE WAS ON. Use another comp to follow this up if you can.

How did you delete it ; from Windows Explorer? Did you delete it, or just send it to the Recycle Bin? If you sent it to the Bin, it'll still be there, you can just restore it from there (assuming your system isn't set up to ignore the Bin). If you deleted it w/out sending it to the Bin, even that doesn't wipe it from your HD, it just marks it as "can be overwritten" so that as your comp "does stuff" over time, it'll start to go. If it's been marked for overwriting, you may need to take on (& pay for) a data recovery firm.

In my feeble attempt to remove the annoying wgatray.exe, I accidentally deleted an important file which prevents me from logging into Windows. The problem is, I don't know which file(s).

When I started Windows, the usual blue welcome screen didn't appear, instead a box to input my username and password popped up. After inputting, my background picture appeared, along with the usual Windows startup tune. However, after a few seconds, before even loading anything, Windows started to shut down, along with the familiar 'saving your settings' pop-up box.

I've just installed another Windows in order to create this post. I just need to know which file(s) are needed for me to start up my original Windows. Any help is appreciated.
Thank you.

Here's my situation after running a memory test my PC restarted and then went to Chkdsk. After scanning in Stage 1, It scanned the index files if I can remember and then it showed that "something"explorer.dll is unindexed. Chkdsk tried to find the host but it didn't find it and it was deleted. After that my PC restarted and then on log-on screen during "Welcome" a popup appeared saying "something"explorer.dll is missing and after "Welcome" its was all black. I tried to run taskmanager and then manually started explorer.exe but "something"explorer.dll is missing. I system restore my PC and it worked properly explorer.exe is working fine now. Its ok now that its works normally now but what will I do to prevent Chkdsk deleting that .dll file. I don't have a recovery disk. Also I wrote this thread during safe mode so I can make sure that everything is working fine for now.

After that I created new volume called Y out of the unallocated space. At this point I realized that I lost my D drive which has all my valuable data worth 30 GB.

Is there any way to recover the files and partition ? I tried easeus and it recovered the partition but with empty contents.

Please help me as my all work is stored on D drive and I am in wierd situation & totally scared about how do I explain this situation to my boss.

Hope someone will help me out...

A:Accidentally deleted "D: LENOVO" drive

If its not used for system files you may be ok. But you should always have an image backup of the entire HD. Its a given in this day and age.PS its no accident as its not that easy to do accidentally. System_drv is normally the boot.If you run diskmanager it will show all the partitions. you have and which is bootable.

I was reinstalling Windows Vista today (fresh install), and during the drive selection I inadvertently clicked "delete" while the secondary drive was selected instead of the primary. This is my only backup drive. It is, of course, now not recognized as a drive. I tried booting up Ubuntu and using Gparted to fix the problem, but the only option it gives me is creating a new partition. I then downloaded PC Inspector File Recovery and ran it overnight; it found 16000+ files, but all of them are named cluster1013651.* and so forth, and all of them appear to be corrupted. Windows seems to know what type of file each is, as their extensions are intact, but they will not open properly. Another weird issue is that the vast majority of files are .xls, but I don't use Excel.

Is there some utility that can repair the drive so that Windows detects it again? All the data is still there, the drive was never formatted or written to in any way.

I tried EASUS Data Recovery Wizard but that didn't do it. I thought maybe Paragon had something but I've not had any luck so far. Any help appreciated. Thanks

Hi, I accidentally deleted the volume on my 3rd hard drive and now my Windows Vista PC won't even recognize the drive. How can I fix this?

The problem started when I put my old Barracuda 160 gig drive in a usb external case and couldn't get it to work until I put the jumpers on 7-8. The problem was, it was asking me to format the drive which was full of files which I wanted to retrieve. Through a series of now obvious mistakes, I first shrunk the volume backwards, I meant to shrink only 50 MB but deleted all but 50 MB and then stupidly deleted the entire volume.

What I need now is to at least be able to have my PC recognize the drive again and to be able to restore the full volume but would ideally like to still be able to retrieve the data, if that's even possible at this point. Also, why does, or did my computer only recognize this drive in the 7-8 jumper configuration? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Tony

You can't. Recovery partitions are generally full and that is not a problem. It won't cause you any problems that you deleted it but you just won't be able to restore your computer back to factory state without ordering a set of recovery discs from HP.

Hi, can someone please help me to recover my important folder ?

This morning, I accidentally clicked on a malware email and got my computer contracted with some malware.

I tried ADWCleaner to clean out the files in Registry. But unknowingly, it removed completely one of a very important work file in my computer.

I tried to re-install ADWCleaner again and tried to Quanrantine but nothing happened.

Please help me to restore the work file. It is very important and I am freaking out right now.

How can I post the txt file so you can help me ?

Thanks.

A:ADWCleaner accidentally removed important folder

After confirming a file is legitimate, it can be safely restored from quarantine. The AdwCleaner folder contains sub-folders for Backup and Quarantine. Each of these folders contain sub-folders of the exact location (full path) an entry (file/folder) was removed from so they can be safely restored. If you already clicked the Clean button and then confirm a file is legitimate, it can be safely restored from quarantine and added to the exclusion or ignore list.If you removed (uninstalled) AdwCleaner, all sub-folders including those for Backup and Quarantine will have been deleted and there will be no way to retrieve anything that had been placed in those folders even if you reinstall AdwCleaner. You can attempt recovery by using a third-party data recovery tool but there is no guarantee doing that will be successful.

I need to know how to view what is on my hard drive. I want to recover deleted data and photos. Please send me steps to do this

A:retrieving deleted data from hard drive

There are a number of ways to recover old data, depending on how and when it was deleted. Could you give us more details?

How did you delete these files? Recycle bin?

How long ago did you delete them?

What version of Windows are you running?

I have read that the normal drive erase is not a good idea for SSD's. I have also read that most SSD manufacturers should have a utility that will allow you to force it to flush deleted data. Does anyone know if this is available thru Lenovo. The SSD controller is a Jmicron but I did not see any utilities on their website.

Hi,

So, I gave a friend a computer I stopped using when I got a new one. This was about four years ago. I downgraded my username to a "user" account and made a new account with my friends name (and made it administrative). Then I subsequently deleted my account.

However, now that I know more about computers I sort of worry about my stuff still being on the computer (programs, internet history/cache, pictures, etc.).

I told him about my worries and basically he said I can mess with it if I want (just don't delete anything important on his account).

So, basically, what should I do to ensure my stuff is off his computer at this point so that a hacker couldn't get it? Or if he gave it away and didn't delete the harddrive, that I would know my stuff isn't accessable to the most advance user/program?

And what ever happened to the index.dat files for my account? I know how to delete them on an avaliable account, but seeing my account is now gone, whatever happen to those index.dat files?

Thanks for any information.

A:Question about deleted xp user data on hard drive?

The only sure way is to completely reformat(reinstall windows and erase everything)

Just running diskcleanup and delete all your old files should be okay.
Ask your friend to delete anything that you may have missed should he come across it.

A client of mine lost all of her data on her external hard drive. It happened while she was away from the computer, and as far as I know, no one else touched her computer. I asked her if her computer were acting abnormally, like she had a virus or something, and she said, "No. It's acting fine."

She can access the drive, but it has nothing on it now.

Any ideas?

Hi,

My PC has been running a bit slow lately so I decided to try and delete some unnecessary files. A friend recommended and sent me a program called 'eraser' which supposedly deletes unneccessary files the hard drive otherwise can't reach. I also used speedisk to do a defrag and used disk cleanup to get rid of some of the built up junk.

After I used 'eraser', I noticed some problems with my PC :-

A) Now all websites I view are all in the same font, a font that previously wasn't used (Mozilla Firefox browser).

B) Every time I open a word application (Microsoft Word of Lotus Word Pro) I get an error message and the application has to shut down.

C) All over the place words are simply not showing up on the screen. I open Nero and the directories have invisible file names. I open ZoneAlarm's main menu and all I can see is the background but no words.

I've obviously deleted something important, just wondering if anyone had any ideas what to do and if anyone's seen this type of thing before?

Zonealarm menu now :-

Any help will be appreciated.

So while i was going through my Zune media player software, i was deleting music that i just dont listen to anymore.
i have an 80g zune, and i had to free up space to sync up my library. Quite a bit of music.
So in about the 3rd hour of deleting music...i get delirious, and just start clicking at things and deleting.

Somehow, I (while holding ctrl to select music) hit ctrl+A and hit delete. Yep I deleted my entire library. I'm awesome...
I deleted the music, not only from my library, but from the music folder on my computer.

The recycle bin only has room for so much and has only a fraction of the music I had originally.

Please...HELP ME RETRIEVE IT!

I have heard legend tell of a mysterious place known as MS-DOS...and by harnessing its powers, you are able to retrieve any old files that you accidentally deleted?...
Are there any wise wizards who can tell me about this legendary mysterious place? (sorry just had to)

Thank you in advance!

(I run Vista 32-bit)

A:I accidentally deleted something...

There is no DOS with XP or Vista. The important thing is to quit using the computer until you have decided on a plan to reclaim the files so you don't overwrite the files beyond recognition.I've heard positive things about PC Inspectorhttp://www.pcinspector.de/Sites/file_recov....htm?language=1
