Need a wireless ac dual band card with bluetooth

Q: Need a wireless ac dual band card with bluetooth

My school has now only got 5ghz wireless and now my laptop doesn't see the wireless network as a result. To fix this I need to upgrade my laptops wireless single band WirelessN card to a dual band AC card with bluetooth preferrably. I don't care if it is an original HP card so long as it fits properly and works. My laptop has an I7 quad core in it, 1 gig DDR5 graphics, 4gig RAM, 15.6" screen.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I just upgraded my laptop wireless adapter from "Broadcom BCM43142" to "Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 3160 802.11 ac" upon confirmed that the new card is supported from service manual.  Both latest Intel wireless and bluetooth drivers are installed (18.33.0.2 and 18.1.1611.3223 respectively). AC connection works perfectly fine; however, the bluetooth seems to be having issue here.  For pairing and maintain active connection between bluetooth device and laptop, I have to put them right next to each other literally.  Any distance more than 10cm apart, the bluetooth device will be inactive and unusable.  I don't have such problem with Broadcom which I can perform pairing and maintain active connection even a meter apart.  Does anybody face the same issue before with Intel AC 3160 bluetooth?  Or is this a hardware issue with the card itself?

Hi @cfc723, Welcome to the HP Forums! I understand from your posts that you are having an issue with your HP Pavilion 15-p041tx Notebook and the new Wireless card you installed. The only one that was compatible in the service manual for a Intel processor was the Realtek RTL8188EE 802.11 bgn 1x1 Wi-Fi adapter.  Here is a link to the service manual. Thanks.

No. Sorry. That model still has the HP BIOS whitelist which will prevent the laptop from booting if anything other than officially sanctioned wireless cards are installed. None of the approved devices is an ac type receiver. Some are combination wifi/bluetooth. Post back if you are interested in locating and installing one of them.

I got a new d-link wireless N router the other day which solved most of my slow internet problems. It is a dual band router and supports 5ghz but my current network card is only 2.4ghz. I'm in an apartment complex so I figure if I run it on the 5ghz band I will get much less interference from other people's wifi. Only problem is I cant really find a dual band pci card??? The only one i've found is a Linksys WMP600N. I was hoping there were some more options out there. Anyone have any suggestions?

I'm needing to update my wifi card to a dual band AC & have been unable to find a definitive answer on the compatibilty of Intel cards (specifically the AC-7260) with AMD. Will it work? If not, where can I find the best upgrade options? Is there any type of list of compatible upgrade options anywhere? I have the U-Verse 1G & a Netgear Nighthawk AC 1900 & currenlty max out at around 45mbs down via wireless. I can consistently get around 600-650mbs down via ethernet. I tried the Netgear A6210 usb wifi adapter (dual AC) & it worked for a while (400-450mbs) but now I'm having detection issues with it (apparently pretty common) & I'm tired of having to deal with the dongle anyway. Any help would be greatly appreciated

now i have had blue tooth dongles installed working while using 2.4 GHz band before with no issues, so i don't get the issue now.

Hello, I just got my E560 on 9/27/16. It has windows 7, 64 pro installed. I plugged in the battery and waited an hour or so before turning the system on. Everything booted ok and I entered my hidden router for my wifi. Unfortuanly, it would not connect. I finally dug out an old ethernet cable to hook up and test the system and download some software. I then unhid my router and still was not able to find it. Everyones router in the neigborhood showed up but mine. I call tech support but they claimed that it was my routers software. I have 4 other devices working just fine on the wifi and I even set my printer up for wifi while the router was hidden with no problem. I checked the Lenovo site for updates but the system said everything was up to date. I went to the Intel site and downloaded their current driver for this card. The laptop finally noticed the router while it was unhidden and I again hid the router and rebooted my Laptop. This cured the problem. However, I was displeased with Customer service they tried to tell me it was a problem with my router and not the system and all my drivers shipped from the factory were up to date. I hope this will help anyone who has a similar problem.

Hi all,

I looked online and I'm still a bit confused whether I should get dual or single band wifi for a laptop that I would like to purchase. Can someone explain to offer a suggestion as to which one is best?

Thank you in advance.

A:dual band wifi card vs single band wifi card

I should get dual or single band wifi for a laptop that I would like to purchaseClick to expand...

do you mean a router
or as part of the laptop spec ?

what router do you have and does it work in dual band simultaneously

the advantage of the 5ghz signal is if you are in a crowded 2.4ghz environment then 5ghz helps avoid interference - also the coverage is wider - although the 5ghz router i have linksys - does not seem to be

if your current router only works in 2.4ghz , then no advantage in the short term

some routers are advertised as dual band - but you have to choose between 2.4 or 5 ghz and so ALL devices will need to support 5ghz

This computer came with a single band wireless adapter. I need to upgrade to a Dual Band 5Ghz wireless adapter. So I carefully ordered that exact module, installed it, nothing, tried different drivers and software from Intel, nothing, checked the HP support assist for updates, nothing, put the old single band card back in, works as it did previously. Why doesn't this card work when both the manual and part surfer specify this card? Yes it is new enough not to have the whitelist so you can install any wireless card with the right form factor.  Here is the Service Manual: Manual See p. 45. HP offered this one which is the top of the line: Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 7260 802.11 ac 2x2 WiFi + Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 7260 BT 4.0 combo adapter 756753-001 Available on Amazon.com: https://www.amazon.com/710661-001-Intel-Wireless-ac-7260-Pci-express/dp/B00PDLCFL8/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1470826413&sr=8-1&keywords=756753-001 This is a drop-in plug and play replacement. You would want to get the driver files on the hard drive (like maybe the desktop) and have them available before you make the swap to be sure the card will work once you reboot Windows. Pick your OS from the drop-down menu here: http://h20564.www2.hp.com/hpsc/swd/public/readIndex?sp4ts.oid=6943827&swLangOid=8&swEnvOid=4059 You need the Intel wireless and Intel bluetooth drivers.  If you need more help post back.  If this is "the Answer" please click "Accept as Solution" to help others find it.

Hello and welcome,

As you probably know, to pass the BIOS whitelist check a card must be an approved model and have a Lenovo FRU number (firmware modified for Lenovo).

Hello,I have been having serious problems with my HP Pavilion 17 Notebook's WiFi driver. It first began with periodic disconnects when I was using Windows 8.1. When I would close the notebook it would disconnect from WiFi, and every few hours it would disconnect as well. (Connection to my router would display a yellow exclamation point, say limited, and all other networks would disappear from view).More recently, within the past week, the disconnects have become far more frequent. I'm talking every 10 minutes or so. Now it's at the point where the lap top is simply unusable. In the past I would just go into devices through the control panel, and disable then enable the Ac3160 driver and that would seem to do the trick to get me through the day. However, now that simply does not work. I am at my wit's end.Yesterday I updated to Windows 10 to see if that would alter the way the driver is behaving - nope.I have unchecked any boxes in power management settings that would disable network connection to save power.I have updated the driver.I could definitely use some help! Thank you.

I have just purchased a new HP Pavilion and  want to upgrade the wireless wlan card. This is a great PC and has a Intel Core 4 Gen i7 and so far works good when connected to my LAN via Cat6. I am having issues pulling large CAD files and in looking over the service manual the only option listed for a duel band card is a old N Intel 3160 (1X1) from 2013. I Contacted Intel and was informed that the card should work but that HP tends to Whitelist there BIOS in order to keep customers from upgraded there workstations. The issue I am having is the the Intel 7260 is not listed in my service manual BUT is currently available as a driver download on the support site listed as a Intel 7260/3160 driver. Does anyone know if this product is whitelisted on the BIOS? I have listed the part I am ordering below for reference.  INTEL DUAL BAND WIRELESS AC 7260 - (2X2 NETWORK ADAPTER PCI EXPRESS HALF MINI CARD -802.11B, 802.11A, 802.11G, 802.11N,802.11AC, BLUETOOTH 4.0 LEModel Number 7260.HMWWB.RTigerDirect Part Number: IE2-102594433List Price $29.99 As you can see the value in spending $29.99 and the return on investment this offers this is a no brainer compared to the "stock" Realtek  Wireless Card that comes standard on this computer. Also would like to point out that this computer was only $479.99 at Best Buy and came with and 4Gen i7 and was too good a deal to pass up.  No idea why HP would but such as inferio... Hi: From the several posts I have read on the forum you should have no problem installing any wireless card you want in your notebook, as it appears that HP has done away with the BIOS whitelisting of wireless cards. Below is the link to the service manual for your notebook. Memory upgrade info can be found in chapter 1. http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/manualCategory?cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&product=7582630& Now, I have some bad news for you... You will void the warranty if you install a wireless card or memory yourself. Unfortunately, you have to pretty much take the whole notebook apart to get to the hard drive, memory and wireless card.  You can refer to chapters 5 and 6 of the service manual for the removal and replacement procedures.

I just bought a refurbished Lenovo Y40 Laptop

It is running on windows 8.1 and has a Dual Band Wireless-AC 3160

The wifi speed is significantly slower than any other phone or laptop using the same connection. I used the Intel Driver Update Utility 2.0 software to download up to date drivers.

I have tested this laptop on two different internet connections (two different houses). The wifi connection receives about 7-9 mb/sec download with 2-3 mb/sec upload.

Using a ethernet cable, I receive about 30-50 mb/sec with 10/12 mb/sec upload.

It is impossible to play any online games because my computer constantly experiences high ping spikes (400-1000ms) every 30 seconds or so.
Is there any suggestions or software you guys know of that can help determine the problem? My 4 year old Asus laptop runs 3x better than this one.

Hi there,

What is your signed up bandwidth? Is the issue only happening to your own Wi-Fi network?
Is this speed coming from your own network directly plugged in to the router or modem?

If it is, you might want to fiddle with your router's wireless mode a/b/g.

Hi all - I have a DV7-7230us that I have upgraded massively since purchasing it at a great prices about three years ago - new display, maxed memory, 500GB SDD, Win10-Pro, etc. This laptop has all the capability and raw power that I need for a laptop, but one thing that bugs me is the original wireless mini-card in it - it is single-band, 2.4GHz a/b/g. I would like to replace it with the Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 7260 2x2 Networok/Bluetooth adapter (7260.HMWWB.R), but just want to ensure compatibility before I start down that path - has anyone had any success and/or advice I should consider on this? If not compatible, does someone know a compatible wireless AC dual-band card that will work? Thanks!

I'm having problems with my pavilion 17-G192DX.  when I have the wifi on, it works for about 10 minutes, then basically shuts down my home network - TV locks up, no other computers can access the internet.  As soon as I turn the wifi off, everything goes back to normal.  HP troubleshooting can find nothing...when the thing is working, that is.  I'd like to upgradethe wifi card with a dual band unit?  I'm thinking the Intel 7260 2x2.  Will that work in this computer?  Any other options?  P/N is V0Q01UA.

A:can I put a dual band wifi card in my pavilion 17-G192DX not...

Yes you can install any wireless card of the right form factor which for your laptop is an M.2 adapter. See the Manual here: http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c04655191 The 7260ac is a mini-pcie card and is not compatible but you could MAYBE install an Intel 8260ac card: https://www.amazon.com/Wireless-8260AC-8260NGW-Bluetooth-Wireless/dp/B01ERMBDCK/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&q... Start on p. 31 with removal of the back cover and read through p. 39. The hesitation is that, to install a dual band card you must have 2 antennae and on some HP models with lower-end wireless cards there is only one. So if you want to do this I recommend open it first and count antennae. If two, you can install the card linked above, which will perform as well as any wireless card you can buy.  Let us know if there are other questions.  If this is "the Answer" please click "Accept as SOlution" to help others find it.
