New Device turns PCs & Laptops Dual-Screened

Q: New Device turns PCs & Laptops Dual-Screened

The revolutionary new Matrox DualHead2Go external multi-display upgrade is not a graphics card. Rather it is a palm-sized box that sits outside of your system. DualHead2Go takes the existing single monitor display output (i.e. external VGA output) from your system and expands it into dual display outputs, allowing you to run your Windows desktop at up to 2560 x 1024 resolution stretched across two displays. Using DualHead2Go in conjunction with the built-in display of your laptop, you actually benefit from 3 displays at a time.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Okay this is driving me nutso - I have checked the RD client on the PC side and there is nothing to turn this off anywhere...

I have a desktop which I always have Num Lock on as it has its own dedicated keypad. The problem is when I Remote Desktop into my laptop my laptop does not have the dedicated keypad the numbers on the keypad portion are actually 1/3rd of the letters on the keyboard (I.E I,O,P would be 7,8,9) when numlock is on. It's fine until I disconnect and I go home...

When I get home I start typing as I normally would but half the letters look like numbers because the Num Lock is still on from when I used Remote Desktop to connect in.

I know the obvoius solution is to turn off Numlock on my PC before I disconnect Remote Desktop from the Laptop but I really just want the Laptop to revert back to its original keyboard state once I disconnect...

Anyone know of a solution? Be kind please.

A:Remote Desktop turns on Laptops Num Lock - Driving me buggy

Have you checked and tried to manipulate your options under the remote desktop connection / local resources?

There is also a registry key that can be set on the laptop to make sure it doesnt turn your numlock on:

HKEY_USERS\DEFAULT\Control Panel\Keyboard\InitialKeyboardIndicators

Hello,

I have an HDTV and a laptop and my laptop has a DVI output (thats it) and the TV has an HDMI input therefore I bought an DVI to HDMI cable hooked up the HDMI to the tv and hooked up the DVI to the laptop

Specifics:
HDTV LG 20" Model 20LS7D
ATI Mobility Radeon X1400

So I plugged in both and the TV will not let me select HDMI input, basically theres no signal, I already activated the second monitor via the xp settings and set it to a display that the tv can support tried to turn the tv on and off and nothing worked. My Omega drivers are recognizing a second Panel, an "FPD" and the display however it wont work, I even tried to force connect to a tv and that wont work.

I was given an alienware 5500, the f4 function key only allows the switching between LCD-only, CRT only and LCD and CRT. F5 and 6 are audio options (because I know some laptops function keys allows dual monitors).

Any suggestions? Should I not be using Omega drivers? Was this free alienware laptop worse off then I thought, etc?

Hi, I typically work with dual monitors by using an external monitor with my laptop. I run windows 7 on the laptop. Typically I need dual monitors to run applications such as statistical software, GIS (ESRI), and archival research software e.g. Atlas.ti etc. I also need to keep interview transcripts (ussually word docs) and excel spreadsheets with raw data on one screen while I write using a word doc on the other screen. Here's my problem. I will be working overseas for the next three months and need to use dual monitors but don't want to lug an external monitor on a flight. So I was wondering if there is a way to use one of my two laptops as an external monitor. Both run Windows 7. I've thought about taking an Ethernet cable and trying to build a network between the two laptops, but don't know if this would work.

At this point I am too addicted to using dual monitors that I can't go back to one monitor. Any advice?

I have two working laptop pcs, and I'm curious about the possibility of combining them into one unit and running both screens as a dual monitor system.

My question is 1) Is this even possible with notebooks, and 2) How do I go about doing this?

I've found a lot of helpful tutorials on the topic in relation to desktop computers... but I'm pretty sure it will be completely different if trying it with laptops. And as I said, I'm not even sure it's possible... but I feel like it should be.

Any tips or links that might help point me in the right direction?

A:Combining 2 Laptops to Run as Dual Monitors?

I agree it should be possible, but it's not

Now, in saying that there are ways
One way is to have Remote Desktop setup so one computer can see the other Computer through sharing Remotely
Since one computer can see the full Desktop, you could split the screen to see yours and the other.
But I don't think this is what you want

Asking this here because there isn't a general category. Which range of Lenovo laptops would support dual-monitors with least hassle? I think I'm asking which models have displayport outputs as that seems the preferred route. The product selection system on the website doesn't allow this granularity of filtering so one would have to look through the entire range! Thanks, Rob.

Hi all,

A:USB device turns off when Windows boots

Hi there,

On some machines, with certain motherboards, the USB ports are sent power immediately when the computer turns on (which yours does), but then Windows will shut that power off when it boots up so that it can load the drivers for all your devices, and then turn back on again. When Windows cuts power to the USB, your scanner shuts down.

Unfortunately there is no way to fix this that is documented. I would recommend trying going into the BIOS menu and enabling "Legacy USB Support" and seeing if that works. (That keeps the power alive to the USB all the time, as long as the PC is plugged in.) If that doesn't work, then there is no solution except for what you are already doing.

Hope this helps.

I just got this laptop a month ago and yesterday I was trying to play my favorite game when it kept crashing. It said that my whole system crashed and it said that it would restart after it found out what the problem was. So I let it restart and when it restarted it ever got pass the Acer logo and it kept making some clicking sound from the hard drive. I have never dropped this laptop and I?ve always treated it with care. Today when I start it. It can get pass the Acer logo but then it says No Bootable device and it shows a picture of the hard drive. At this point the clicking stops and it doesn?t do anything. (I?ve tried alt f10) didn?t work. Also I think that the problem could be software related because my laptop was very laggy before it crashed

Hi everyone! I'm having a problem with my dual monitor setup, one DVI and one with HDMI, all connected on my NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560 GPU. The thing is, my cpu boots up. But after the Windows Logo shows up, instead of bringing me to the log on screen, the computer shuts down.

I have the latest drivers of NVIDIA (314.22). I tried to reinstall the driver in Safe Mode but it didn't work. The problem persists. While on Safe Mode, I uninstalled the NVIDIA Driver and restarted my computer. After that, my computer brought me to the logon screen but the resolution was very low and as I logged in my password and proceeded to my desktop, the resolution is also low and my 2nd monitor is on idle.

Take note that my primary monitor is the one with the DVI.

Thanks in advance!

A:Dual Monitor Problem - Computer turns off after Windows Logo shows up

Ok, after a few tinkering, I figured out that it was a hardware problem. What I did was I disconnected the DVI and the HDMI from the graphic card, then detached the graphic card from the motherboard. After a few seconds, I placed back the graphic card and connected the DVI and HDMI and ta da!, everything worked out fine.

I've uploaded a video of the problem.

I haven't noticed ANY correlation between what I'm doing and this problem happening.
Sometimes it doesn't happen for a week, sometimes it happens 3 times in a day.
I've had it happen while browsing on the internet, or using a word file,
or completely on its own while idle.
All connections have been checked, no plugs are lose.
Problem started a few months ago.
I have NO idea what this might be.

This problem has occurred while I was still using Windows 8.1, and has continued since my installation of Windows 10.

At the moment we have no idea what we are working with. Can you provide exact make and model of the PC assuming its a prebuilt system like a HP, Dell etc?

If it is a self / custom build then please provide make and model for the motherboard, CPU, RAM, harddrives, graphics card, power supply etc. The more information you can provide the better and people can make more informed responses.

I get crazy with this problem. I think since I installed the Windows 10 Creators Update, my Bluetooth connection to my Microsoft Surface Keyboard (Bluetooth) gets lost. After that the Bluetooth is shown in the hardware manager as an "unknown usb device" (Error-Code 43). What helps: Deinstallation of this device, shut down of the laptop and than turning it on again. After that Bluetooth is installed again...until it randomly breaks down like described above. Sometimes it loses Wifi-Connection too when the Bluetooth breaks down. It just happend when I work with the above mentioned Keyboard. When I work remotely with an MS Sculpt Bluetooth mouse, I never have this problem. Not driver re-installation helped. Wifi/Bluetooth card replacement also didn't help. Do I really need to reinstall Windows 10 or throw the Keyboard into the trash? Hope someone can help me here.

After getting a couple blue screens I am having the following issue:

When I turn my computer on, the fans and drives all start up. After approx. 2 seconds the computer shuts itself off. After another 2 seconds the computer turns itself back on again. This time it stays on but i have no monitor output. I don't hear a beep which tells me it is probably not posting.

I have read a few other threads that have a similar issue but not the same. I am thinking it is either the mobo, GPU, or PSU.

I would like any guidance and assistance that you guys can give me on this specifically what i should look at first and how to diagnose. Thanks. system specs below:

ASUS P5Q Pro ATX Intel Motherboard
Intel Core 2 Duo E8500 3.16GHz LGA 775 65W Dual-Core Processor
EVGA GeForce GTX 260 Core 216 896-P3-1265-AR Video Card
Antec EA650 650W Power Supply
OCZ 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 1066 (PC2 8500) Dual Channel Kit Memory

A:Computer turns on, turns off then turns back on but has no video output

I have helped somebody who had a similar issue and it was the motherboard being shorted out by the case. We took the motherboard out of the case and it booted up just fine. Something you might want to try before purchasing new components.

It also might be a cable issue. Inspect that cable or try a new one and or another USB port. If you have it on the front of the case try it on a rear USB port. I've seen machines where the front ports carried less power than the rear ones.

Hi,

I'm new to this but I figured I'd give this a try. This is a repost of my earlier post I did last week. no replies .

I have an Acer Aspire 5110 laptop and recently I've been getting the bluescreen when starting the laptop. Sometimes it pops up after I login, sometimes on the password screen. The bluescreen usually has HSFHWAZL.SYS (i think). After this, windows usually does a disk check. Sometimes it finds nothing, other times it truncates like 15-20 files.

Currently I'm running WindowsXP Media Center Edition.

I downloaded HijackThis and here's the log file.

Hi, some reasons for Blue Screens
New hardware - software installed.
Device driver - Video driver - corrupted - faulty.
Faulty Ram - Overheating - Dying hard drive etc.
======
Let us have some Pc specifications.
Check and post
TSG System Information Utility - found here.
http://static.techguy.org/download/SysInfo.exe
======
Post the Minidump files
Create a new folder on the desktop and call it dumpfiles [or something similar]

Look in c:\windows\minidump
Copy the last 4 minidump files to that folder.
Close the folder and right click on it and select Send To Compressed [zipped] Folder.
Windows will compress the file and then save the new zipped file in the same location.

Use the 'Manage attachments' in the 'Go Advanced' reply window below to upload that zip file here as an attachment.

Hello.
In June 2016 our company bought Inspiron 5759. I used it at office, we have air conditioning, nothing that could cause overheating or other problems. In the end of July 17 laptop just turned off and didnt react on any actions. I brought to service center and they told it's the hub located on the same board with CPU. The only way to fix it is to replace the whole board which costs around 600 USD because there's CPU Core i7 in it. I was given another laptop Inspiron 5558 which was not used since winter of 2017 because it had problems with WiFi. I tried to connect it with LAN cable and discovered that LAN is not working, in fact there's no LAN adapter in device manager. Service center said today that's the same problem - but this time hub is not completely broken, it's just doesnt see LAN adapter and periodically shuts down WiFi. The technician told that this is a frequent problem with Inspirons and Dell knows about it but doesnt recall laptops or extend warranty on this spare part. I asked when second laptop got the wifi issues - it started at the beginning of 2017 and warranty ended in December 2016. Again just 1-2 months.

So, it looks very strange that Dell laptops break right after ending of warranty with same problem, and we can't just change the hub, we need to buy a new board which includes CPU for 600 USD.

Here's a thought. I've been searching high and low for an affordable laptop which has

Awesome Graphics card (not sure what - but something that could handle Crysis at high)
15-16" screen with 1920 x 1080 res
4gb or more ddr3 1333mhz ram
core i7-720qm or higher processor
backlit keyboard
HDMI, long battery life, etc etc

So basically everything but at under $2500. I even bought a dell studio xps 1645 with the above specs and the price was real good ($1730 with student discount) but it had lots of problems so i had to return it.

Now that the problem is solved (? maybe?).. dell dont offer that laptop in that configuration, making the laptop around $2400 just due to an increase in RAM (6gb instead of 4gb).

And since I am unsure of the quality with dell or any other brand for that matter, I was wondering if there is any laptop out there that gives alienware m15x performance for a smaller pricetag? (a discount coupon for the above would do! hehe)

If not, what about "overhauling" or "Pimp My Laptop" sorta stuff if you catch my drift... You know customizing the laptop or even building it up from scratch.

I've done some basic upgrades in the past (RAM HDD, bluetooth card etc.) but does anyone have any experience in upgrading graphics cards, screens and CPU's?

Any experience or information about this is very welcome, as finding the right laptop in the right price is sorta like the Holy Grail of laptops, especially in NZ s... Read more

About 2 months ago I bought a Hp G70-460US Laptop that I've been running Vista Home Premium on and it was working perfectly until earlier today when I started to get random blue screens of death. At first I thought it was just a random crash from running too many programs, but it started to blue screen ever more frequently. Earlier I restored it back to 2 weeks prior but I was unable to run programs efficiently and it still blue screened, so I backed-up all that was important onto an Ipod and did a complete system restore to the factory settings, which took about an hour, and at which point it blue screened at startup before even getting to the administrator log-in screen. I've now attempted to boot it into safe mode, however it no longer even recognized that windows is even installed and asks for it to be, and when booted regularly, it just shows a black screen. I'm fairly certain it may be a driver issue, however seeing as I can no longer boot the computer to get the blue screen, it's difficult to check what the problem actually is now. I've never had this problem before and I'm not much of a computer wiz, so I'm not sure what I should be doing to fix it. Does anyone have prior knowledge or possibly some insight on how to fix this problem? It would be greatly appreciated. Hello Werty789,
Welcome to Vista Forums!

I think that there was a little glitch that turned big (sounds weird i know).
But since you backed up all of your files thats super. I would suggest you do a clean installation of your version of vista. This way, you can have a fresh start and hopefully your BSOD will be gone. Also, make sure you allow windows to update itself after installation so it downloads and installs all the proper updates.

Let us know how it goes,

It almost always comes when I am surfing the internet, especially--but not particularly--when I'm accessing video sites such as Hulu or MSN Video, although I don't even need to be playing something in such sites--if the window's even up, it will likely give a blue screen somewhere in the next hour. Lately, though, just running a browser can cause it to blues creen.

My blue screen says at the top something to the effect of: driver-not-less-or-equal; I've never been fast enough to catch the specific numbers, but I can try if they're needed.

I've tested this in the latest versions of: IE, FF, Opera, Flock, and Safari and all equally cause a blue screen crash.

I have an Acer E380 8 month old system with:
Vista SP1
AM2 Socket MB (I believe, and don't know the exact model)
Athlon 64 X2 4400+ @ 2.31 GHz
NVIDIA GeForce 6150SE nForce 430 (I now just installed a NVIDIA GeForce 8600 GT and it did not remedy anything)
Realtek High Definition audio
2GB DDR2 RAM
320 GB Western Digital HD
Came with 250W PSU (I put in a 750W PSU to try some upgrades with the new graphics card, but somehow that combination gave more blue screens so I took both of them out)
I have about 6 USBs hooked up drawing various amounts of power and I use a Wacom tablet as my main mouse/input, but the problem started way before that...so don't know if that means anything.

Hi dgal. . .

Welcome... to your first thread in the TSF Vista Support Forum.

I see that you have been a member since last November, but this is your first thread and post. Sorry it had to be under a BSOD watch. Let's see if we can locate the cause.

I need some items and I have a few things for you as well. There is a zip file attached to this post containing a batch file named minidump-msinfo32.bat. Please download it and extract it to your desktop. Right-click on the desktop batch file icon and select Run as Administrator. The black "DOS" command screen will appear and scroll followed by the smaller Vista screen while msinfo32 runs. Give it a few minutes, then go to your documents folder where there should be a new folder named TSF_08-21-08 containing the dump files (with names similar to Mini082008-01.dmp), a text file and the msinfo32 NFO file. Zip the entire folder up and attach to your next post.

In the interim, please check WERCON - Windows Problem Reports and Solutions as it usually does contain information on the system crashes that may prove to be helpful.
START | type wercon.exe into the start search box | right-click on wercon.exe under programs above | run as admin | view Problems to Check & Problem History.

Also check the Device Manager for any red/yellow flags.
START | type dev man into the start search box | right-click on Device Manager up top under programs | run as admin

New Member here and more than happy to donate if I can consult when these issue arise and actually able to resolve.
My issue currently is my Gateway- Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit Intelcore, ATI Radeon HD5570 6GB DDR3 Computer is black screened. It has done this on occasion before now but has typically resolved itself after shut down and reboot. This time it has not and remains black screened. I have tried everything...shutting down manually over and over....switching monitors....disconnecting all power and cords/internet. I moved the unit to where my back up unit was located and after hooking it all back up with the other monitor etc...the PC booted back up and went to safe mode screen however I accidentally started it in normal mode rather than safe mode which I intended to and always do and since then it has been black screened and fan buzzing. When I say Black Screened I mean totally...no cursor top left and it has not been there upon any reboot. Please advise. Thank You.

A:my pc black screened randomly

Define black screen? Any errors or it was more like the monitor blacked out? If the monitor, shine a flashlight into the screen, stick your nose right up and look to see if you can see a very faint image of your Windows desktop. If you can, your monitor's backlighting is failing.

Try another monitor.

Hello,

As pointed out in the title my second monitor connected via VGA to my laptop doesn't work. Earlier it was working.

Second monitor (HP W2071d) is recognized by the laptop (lenovo idea y510p. Here's a link to my laptop (http://shop.lenovo.com/us/en/laptops/lenovo/y-series/y510p/#tab-tech_specs)
1. VGA cable and monitor works fine (tried it with another laptop). So it's probably something to do with my computer.

VGA is firmly attached.

2. Drivers are all updated

3. Duplicating screens only shows black on second monitor.

4. Extending screens shows that I can move mouse out of primary monitor into other screen.

5. When I was playing Dragon Age, once in a while fuzzy pictures would show up on my second monitor (back when I had it on duplicate. Now its on extend).

Also, I just took a screenshot of something interesting. http://i.imgur.com/oFIfO7E.png
Originally the picture was just to show that the second monitor is detected. Notice that my second monitor is picked up in the picture. Unfortunately, the black screen is still there for me but at least my primary monitor recognizes the second monitor.

Please and thank you for any help given.

Please help! I am new to this forum. I tried to follow a tread on this but it got so confussing. Does someone have a step by step reply? Issue is Blue screen "A driver has overrun a stack-based buffer". Its on my teen son's PC (need I say more). System has been down for months got tierd of working on it till now. The begining:
1) System starts and said it had two spywares running at same time. After 4 mins the system would freeze, not giveing much time to do anything
2) I started in safe mode and removed my Nortons since I could not this "other" spyware. After a reboot windows said it removed a few malice files. Forgot the the files for this "other" spyware" but it had a tool bar on IE and ended with (4.1?)
3) System worked fine. However as I tried to install a new antivirus I found that neither of my CD/ DVD drives would work (device manger, would not let me update driver). I even moved the drives to the other IDE controller but got the same thing. After two days I found someone who gave me step by step insrtuctions to remove two reg files. Got the drives to work.
4) Now I have this blue screen message. I have removed one by one each hardware item and I still get the problem.

Please help me! John

Laptop is a nearly new Fujitsu 1510D, running XP Pro, SP2. It has been doing service as a desktop replacement (traveling for months), and thus is on most of the day, I close the lid only at night, this puts it into hibernation.

I wasn't doing anything in particular - was just composing an email in Thunderbird - when the screen went completely, utterly white from top to bottom. No keystrokes changed this, but on reboot it seems to be working fine.

I did some research but none of the problems were definitely the cause of this. The laptop has shown absolutely no indications of either overheating (the fan is on though) or some other display problem. It's been running for some hours since the lid was opened this morning. Therefore, I'm not sure if this is a hardware or software problem.

Anybody experienced this before? From my research, it seems that white-screening is specifically a laptop issue...

Oh, and I do have AV software and spyware protection - running a full AVG test, so far nothing (not that I expect this is a virus but it's always good to check).

Thanks for any help!

Hi,

I was just using my PC when it disconnected from the internet. Other devices were still connected so I figured the issue must be with my PC, closed my programs and then tried to restart my PC.

This is when it blue screened with a DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE error. Once the blue screen reached 100% it hung for a good five minutes before I decided to try a hard reset and now it's stuck on the loading wheel and won't boot up. I'm scared to try another restart but I'm not sure where to go from here.

Any help is much appreciated

You'll have to try another restart as there is nothing that we can help you with without the memory dump + system files.

This morning when I turned my computer on the desktop was running and I could hear the fans running, but my screen wasn't showing anything. I turned it off did a quick dust and it worked. I just got home and the same thing happened, but this time I did a full dust clean and it did not work. I've tried using different monitors that I know work and it doesn't work. The ports show no damage and I've also reset the cmos any it hasn't seemed to work. Currently I can still boot it up and see that the monitors turn on and then go to power saving mode (new cords didn't fix it either) my mouse doesn't light up on the bottom. If anyone could help me out I'd greatly appreciate it

Hey guys I need some help, I just brought my computer to the college dorms, set it up, and was working fine for around 4 hours. Then I got a blue screen while chatting and it said something about checking my hardware. When I restarted, it says "error loading OS".

I restarted once more pressing "delete" and checked the "Standard CMOS Features" and it doesn't show my primary hard drive, "primary ide master : none" but it shows my 2nd slave drive.

Anyone know what happen to my computer?
Is there anyway to fix this problem? No computer at college =

No it will not mess up your Pro version . . the repair will not run.

Unmountable boot volume will usually indicate a hard drive failure . . Does BIOS redognize the drive?

Yesterday my machine blue screened and would not boot back up.  I ended up having to remove the harddrive and doing a chkdsk /f /r.  It does boot up, but very slow.  I ran malwarebyte and it found Trojan.Agent.Gen.  It only aloud me to quarantine.  I want to make sure There isn't anything else causing damage.

Hi there,my name is Marius and I will assist you with your malware related problems. Before we move on, please read the following points carefully. First, read my instructions completely.
