I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

I believe that I need to update the BIOS on this 13-a110dx HP Pavillion x360 notebook (purchased June 2015) - of course out of warranty. On HP Support page, this is what shows for the model number/product number/serial number of my computer Operating Sys:  Windows 10 (64 bit)Version:F.35 Rev.A, May 08, 2016, sp77025.exe, 17.6 MB HOWEVER,down in the details, I see another version F.34 Rev.A 17.6 MB Jun 20, 2016 WHICH ONE DO I CHOOSE? This all started with an erroneous SYSTEM 90b error message"System fan/cooling error"Fan has been cleaned, serviced, and checked and it's running fine. Still get error periodically and have to do a hard reset or just hit enter to get through the message.  I noticed on support forum that I may need BIOS update so I checked and my BIOS is from 2014.?! Hoping that the BIOS update will fix this erroneous error.

Hello. I need help with my laptop. I did fresh install of Win10, downloaded WIN updates, downloaded and installed all drivers form HP site, but my touchpad is not working. When the instalation was fresh with no new drivers, touchpad worked, but after install of microsoft or HP drivers it stops working. I can see it in device manager, everything says that is working correctly, but there is no response to my touch. I tried uninstalling Synaptics driver from applications and also from device manager, after restart Touchpad is working, but than after instalation of any driver (HP, generic Microsoft or  newest Synaptics) and restart it stops working.  Any idea of how to fix it? I tried even to replace touchpad with but it does the same.  Thank you in advance. My laptop is not under warranty.

hi,i recently bought HP Spectre x360 with highest specs an. d i'm facing some real serious issues with the touchpad / clickpad. as many others in this forum and reviewers pointed out, the clicks are not being recognized. In my case, I'd say it is around 50% of the clicks don't get registered and I have to click again to make it work. That is really frustrating and enough to make me come here and post this question. I really like the laptop and this is exactly what I've been looking for but this clickpad is a real deal breaker. I followed some suggestions on this forum and also tried some troubleshooting myself (since i myself is a support engineer) but to no avail. I changed the synaptics settings to try and remove too much intelligence from the touchpad and at least get the basic functionality right, but i continue to miss the clicks. I also tried replacing the driver with synaptic one but the problem continues, which tells me that it is something related to the hardware piece than the software / driver. can someone here please help me with this? if i hadn't liked the laptop, i wouldn't bother posting here to try and find a solution, i'd simply get rid of it and go with lenovo yoga 3 pro or something else. but this laptop has really high build quality and classy looks, but probably killed by this $25 buggy piece of hardware.

Purchased this laptop this summer. Upgraded RAM, solid state HD, etc.  Most expensive laptop i've yet purchased. And the touchpad will not work. Well, sometimes, for a day or so, it will be OK. But the factory-installed driver never did work--cursor jumped around all on its own. impossible to use. Missed clicks about 20-30% of the time. Uninstalled driver. Have tried uninstalling and re-installing drivers every other day or so since i purchased this. Yes, it is THAT BAD. Went from factory-installed to Synaptics driver to PS-2. Finally disabled windows 10 auto downloads (well, apparently that can't really be done bec MS controls my computer, not me--but i did change it to a metered connection, because every Windows download created new driver issues). From what i've read, it's clear that touchpad and audio drivers for my model laptop with Windows 10 are a systemic problem that neither HP nor MS nor Synaptics has any interest in addressing. Never buying an HP product again. Just went through the uninstall-re-install gig again tonight--now using the Synaptics generic driver--and still the cursor jumps around. will stay in one place for several seconds, but then it's gone. Laptop is basically unusable. Never, ever, in owning 7 different laptops over the last 30 years, have i ever had this problem before. I've encountered a problem with the touchpad. After using a the "regular scrolling" option on a chromebook, having to break the habit by scrolling down by swiping up is no small annoyance. I also use a regular mouse often too, so simply reversing all scrolling would be hard to get used to.  I've looked online and found that other notebooks have a feature called "precision touchpad" that allows them to reverse scrolling. Naturally I decided to test the method myself by going to Mouse and Touchpad under PC Settings. Sadly there was nothing there to change scrolling.         Obviously that wouldn't do, so I kept up the search. I then stumbled upon another way to change scrolling direction through Mouse Properties. Going to the ClickPad Settings and enabling the scrolling option yielded no results.      Normally I'd love to fix things by myself, but this time I need some help. If anyone has any solutions, that would be amazing.

Just bought this laptop for my son's birthday. One of the things he'll want to do with it is play Minecraft. In Minecraft, you move by pressing a letter from the W-A-S-X diamond, and using the mouse or touchpad to alter direction, i.o.w. to steer. That doesn't work on this laptop. When one of the letters is held down to initiate motion, the touchpad is prevented from steering. If I let the letter go, steering returns immediately...but of course it is useless, because I'm not moving. The touchpad control panel has an option that ought to fix this, but doesn't. Under ClickPad Settings | SmartSense | Settings, there is a slider labeled "Pointing disabled time after keystroke". Sounds promising, right? I move it all the way to the left - the minimal setting - but doing so doesn't affect anything in the game. I still can't steer while moving. I tried turning SmartSense off entirely, and that didn't do anything either. I updated the touchpad control software. This driver is just a couple of weeks old. If I don't get this fixed I have to return the laptop, much to my son's disappointment, and try another model. I'd rather not have to do that. Any ideas will be MUCH appreciated. Thanks for reading.

This computer is an absolute lemon!  Windows confims that I have the latest touchpad drivers.  However, the touchpad is demonically-possessed.  It sends constant mouseclicks so that the cursor jumps all over the place, windows open spontaneously, and it is impossible to use the mouse in anything that begins to resemble a normal manner.  If I add an external mouse, it tamps down the ghost in the touchpad somewhat, but unless I figure out how to disable the touchpad entirely, the demon is always lurking. Advice on this forum from HP reps is useless for my computer.  The Synaptics icon does not take me to any settings that might allow me to dial down the sensitivity of the touchpad.  Even if such settings existed, a touchpad should not go crazy using factory settings.  Unfortunately, all of these symptoms showed up right after the Best Buy return policy ended.  Telephone support from HP is characteristically useless. Any available help would be greatly appreciated.  Otherwise I will spray paint it yellow and mail it to HP's CEO.

I am having a problem with my Spectre x360. I noticed the casing around the bottom of the nearest edge (during normal usage) of the laptop, the area under the touchpad, was loose. I used some pressure to snap the casing back into position, but after doing so the touchpad has lost the ability to "click" down. The part of the touchpad that would normally click still has give to it when pressed down upon, but does not click down the way it used to, nor does it register a left click event when pressed down upon. It still registers taps, swipes, and multi-finger motion with no problem, so the computer remains funcional, but over the year I have had this computer I have grown used to clicking down on the touchpad instead of tapping it. If anybody has any insights into precise causes of this issue or any possible fixes, please let me know. Thank you. More information: possibly at the same time this problem began, I began to have the issue with a yellow spot forming around the upper left corner of the screen. I know this is a very common issue, but could it be related at all to my touchpad issue? If anybody has information related to fixing either of these issures, I would love to hear it. My laptop's warranty expired last week, and since then it seems the rate of problems I've been having has gone up exponentially.

Just unboxed my new x360.  Any time I lift my finger off the touchpad I hear a click sound.  This isn't necessarily a "rattle" nor does it feel like anything is loose.  It sounds like an electronically generated sound on a mouse event. Oddly this doesn't come through my headphones when they are plugged into the audio jack.  Another reason I think it is electronically generated is the fact that the sound doesn't change with varying pressure on the touchpad.  Even the most gentle touch, creates the "click"  when lifting my finger. Please help me get rid of this sound.  My previous generation x360 did not make this sound.

Hi I purchased this laptop around 4 months ago and really enjoy using it. the touchpad has always been a little unresponsive, particularly on the two finger scroll but I have been patient with it. today the cursor froze completely.  when turn on the laptop or restart the cursor appears on the screen. when I try to move the cursor using the touch pad it does not respond. when i touch the screen, the cursor disappears and never returns no matter what I do. I can navigate using the touch screen but my natural instinct is to use the touchpad so I waste lots of time instinctively going to the touchpad and then having to redo the action on the touch screen.  I updated the Synaptics touchpad driver (tip from a related string on the forum) ... sp71089.exe ... but it made no difference. Please helpThanksFrankkk

I'm really enjoying my new Spectre - a great combination of features and price... ...EXCEPT for the touchpad.  The Synaptics pad has lots of options but is unreliable with multi-finger gestures and is missing basic features like two-finger scrolling not working in VMWare sessions (a long-time Synaptics-specific problem that they refuse to fix).  Do we know why HP decided to go this route rather than with the far superior Microsoft Precision Touchpad that most other premium laptops use?  I had a Samsung Notebook 9 Pro with the MS Precision pad and it worked flawlessly.  Is the hardware capable of using Precision drivers?  I've spent way too much time fooling with settings and even installing a third-party app to make this pad work like it should. A

Hello, I just bought a new Spectre x360 (13-4101dx, pre-loaded with Windows 10) and I'm having issues with the Synaptics touchpad. After a Windows update, the driver was updated to version 19.0.12.95.  I have reverse scrolling disabled but for some applications, the two finger scrolling is still reversed. Applications like Google Chrome and Device Manager work fine, the reverse scrolling is disabled. However, for applications like Windows settings, Microsoft Edge, and pretty much everything Windows-related, it seems to be permanently reversed. Also, every time I restart my laptop, all of the settings are reverted back to default. Now, on my HP Envy 15-j000, I have the same driver (19.0.12.95) and I don't face the same issues with reverse scrolling being "permanent" on Windows-related applications. However, the settings do still reset itself after every reboot. How can I fix this? Will Synaptics be releasing a fixed driver for this or am I just missing something? I absolutely hate reverse scrolling and only a small handful of my applications actually run with it disabled...

A:Spectre x360 (13-4101dx) Synaptics Touchpad Issue

I have this same issue with my HP OMEN using driver 19.0.12.95, windows update says this is the latest driver. Scrolling remains inverted in some apps/settings.  I fixed this issue by reverting to an older driver (18.1.30.2), scrolling is now uniform. Kinda annoying that I had to fix it this way, but I had to go the HP Omen driver/support page and download the driver for the synaptics touchpad (even though HP's website insists you use Windows update for Windows 10). I then had to install the old driver, go into device manager and roll back the driver to 18.1.30.2 - you have to do this otherwise Win 10 will just use the latest driver. After that you can change the setting in the synaptics clickpad settings and it will be uniform. This was what worked for me.

Got my Envy x360 running on Windows 10. I noticed that there's a sensor somewhere that detects the orientation of the laptop and somehow attempts to put it in tablet mode. I went ahead and disabled the auto-switch function, so my laptop actually stays in desktop mode when rotated. However, independent of whether the laptop is in tablet mode, it still disables both the touchpad and keyboard functions when rotated, since you would only use the touchscreen when the laptop is in tablet mode. I sometimes use the laptop lying sideways (rotated 90 degrees) and that does not necessarily mean I want to use it as a tablet, and I would not want my input devices to be automatically switched off against my will. I looked up a solution that involves disabling Synaptics SMBus Driver, which presumably disables the software connecting touchpad functionality to laptop orientation. This allows touchpad to work when rotated. However, I can't find the way to accomplish the same for the keyboard. I noticed that the keyboard and the sensors are connected via HID drivers but I don't understand what they are. TL;DR: rotating laptop disables touchpad and keyboard even when it's not in tablet mode. Disabling Synaptics SMBus Driver solves the touchpad portion. Don't know what to do for the keyboard portion. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you in advance.

I recently received the HP Pavilion x360 laptop as a gift. By the second use it was evident that something was wrong with the touchscreen. It will occasionally go berserk and self-activate, in which a poltergeist is seemingly tapping my screen incessantly and opening programs, windows, and files. The touch screen animation of little taps across the screen clicks up and down the left side of my entire screen, causing the most disturbance when it clicks within the Windows 10 start menu, where it clicks open programs, etc. While this is happening, I cannot even control the mousepad, as the cursor is incessantly being dragged back to where the touchscreen is being activated. In the end I always have to force shut-down, and generally I can reuse it for a while (maybe like four hours or so?) before I have to go through the whole cycle again. I have not noticed a pattern yet regarding when it occurs. Sometimes it's write when I start the laptop; sometimes it's after I've been using it for an hour or so. Tactics I have tried:Uninstalling and reinstalling touchscreen driverChecking for updatesRe-Calibrating the touchscreen Eventually just going into Device Manager and disabling the touchscreen altogether. Here's a video of my HP Touchscreen ghost in action:https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B1R-obFJQJotNG52YzZkcFpKRjQ/view?usp=sharing

Hi, guys!
I bought HP Paviion 130 x360 from Future Shop a month ago. At that time, I didn't get any pen or pen drive software. So I'm just wondering if it's their mistake or I should buy one.
If possible, I'd like to use one of these pens: Lapazz tablet ??8060 pen, stylus pen, and a pen for HP tc4400 tablet pc.
Also, I want to use pen pressure for photoshop.

If I have to buy the pen:
1. What pen will fit for my laptop?
2. What pen drive do I need to install?
3. Do I have to buy both of them?  can I download a free software from HP website ?

I really need the pen pressure system.

If I don't need to buy:
1. Can I get a digital pen from Futureshop/Best Buy? (I don't know much about Tablet PC and It was first time to buy a laptop by myself)
2. Unless, Does one of pens on top work on my laptop and to use pen pressure?  I tried to touch the screen with them. Only stylus worked.
3. Can I use Lapazz tablet pen as a digital pen/ a stylus?

Unless I'm missing something, this is a touch screen which you use your finger to navigate rather than a mouse.  If you are more comfortable using a mouse you can use a usb type with the laptop.  I personally don't know anyone who uses a stylus on a laptop touch screen.

Just out of curiosity, where did you read that you needed to use a "pressure pen"?

Product: HP Spectre x360Product #: L0Q59UA#ABL Hi, I'm having a problem with the touchpad's sensitivity and responsiveness. My father bought me this laptop a week or two ago and it's been great. By far the best laptop I've had thus far, but now it is having a major issue with the touchpad. I've scoured and googled this problem and these forums and found similar things but all the solutions offered were ineffective and I'm also having some problems I didn't see reported about. The touchpad was fine at first, and whenever I restart the laptop, it's fine and works as intended. However, a few minutes into use, if that, it starts to act up. By this, I mean the following: The cursor does not go where I intend itIt's laggyLeft click results in that omni-directional scrolling icon and trying to move the mouse means scrolling/moving the page.Right click moves off to the side and is generally weird and cannot click accurately.I can no longer soft tap to click/select something. The mouse moves on its own. As I was typing this, it tried to select/move/edit stuff. It's very erratic and makes typing or clicking or selecting very difficult. The page scrolls down on its own.I'm starting to think my laptop is haunted. There's more I can't think of right now, so I might edit the original post/comment with more info or make a subsequent post in this thread. I've tried to clean the touchpad with a lightly wetted towel (to get rid of any oil finger stains or whatever), and follow... Hi, I recently purchase a HP ENVY x360 - 15-u493cl laptop which came with Windows 10 preinstalled. I need to have it running Windows 7 for work related purposes. Taking help from other  members here I was able to successfully do a clean install of WIndows 7 on the laptop and have gotten most of the drivers. Currently I am having a problem with the laptop keyboard and touchpad. They work but act wierd. Whenver I type, a lot of the times, the cursor moves elswhere on the line or to a different line. Words/lines get selected in random. Wanted to know if anyone has seen this behavior before and have a resolution for it. I tried using a external keyboard and that works fine, so I know its got to be driver releated. Any help is greatly appreciated.

So I just got this laptop, and I noticed that it would make a soft but noticeable clicking sound sometimes when I tap it lightly or when I'm scrolling with two fingers. Is this normal or should I exchange it? Thanks!

Can the HP pavilion x360 13-s120 use an SSD for Windows 10? I have cloned my hard drive to SSD and when I install it says please install an operating system. I have also tried a fresh install of Windows to the SSD and it (and I) cannot find the required drivers. Is there a new BIOS that needs to be installed?  Or is this scenario impossible? I will welcome any suggestions at this point. Thanks
