I am using a Ideapad 100s (the 11" 200$ windows laptop)The laptop is over a month old and I have had so many issues espesially on the build qualityAt first there was a whinning sound on the screen after the bightness gets bellow 95% and the mouse pointer was moving by itself randomlySo I would send it back to Lenovo after the hollydays were oven (because I needed a computer to study as I was away from home).On this month I got sooo many issues:-The "U" key broke off as I was typing(The U and P keys height is lower than the rest of the key's)-The spacebar key is only registered if I tap it with some force on the center -The left click on the touchpad was not placed at the same height (I didint notice at first) so it's not as taptile as the right click -Screen sometimes will remain black on boot untill I forceshutdown-And the blue paint on the back gets off!!(I've notice this after the edges turned from blue to white,So I started rubing a piece of paper on the back of the screen.Anddd Guess What the paint transefed to the paper).So will warranty cover any of theese problems?I Also heard that the service center on Greece has bad reputation and that makes me a litle worried ... :/

I have an ideapad 100s (Win 10). There is very little on the small 32gb harddrive but I continuously get low storage messages. I have less than 200mb available and am struggling to do anything, (downloads, recycle bin, temp files etc have all been cleared).  When I look at Storage, it shows 28.5gb out od 29.1gb used. 19.5gb is 'system & reserved'6.2gb is 'aps & games' Looking in apps & games, the total shown  adds to to about 1.5gb - why does the overall show 6.2gb. What makes up the missing 4.5gb? Anyone have a solution to freeing up a bit of space - this is ridiculous and makes the ideapad barely usable.

Today I face the same issue with poor quality hinges which got broken. I will request  all to say no to DELL laptop.

After 6 -7 month of use your hinges gone. Dell India support say, this does not cover on warranty.here was no drop, spill or accidental damage done to the laptop.
Dell India support  say it is due to usage. Please note laptop is meant to be use and not to keep on showcase. If your hinges broken with in 6 month, do you think next time the same user will ever look for a Dell laptop.
Either improve your quality in India or replaced your poor quality spare. Or else simple go away from India.
Our PM Mr Modi will not tolerate such poor quality service to Indian. I am going to take this matter to highest level. Please inform your India service to replace my hinges asap.

Good evening, Recently I bought a lenovo ideapad 100s 11-IBY, at the first start everything was ok it worked smoothly, after 1 day I opened it again and tried to connect to a wireless network. The wireless adaptor stoppedworking. even though my phone was conected to the wifi my laptop couldn't find any. I've tried everything updating driver resseting in cmd even reinstalling the os didn't worked. Please help me.

Hi! I had many computers before, but this is something new. My Lenovo IdeaPad 100S-11IBY [Z3735F 2GB 32GB] W10 [Version 10.0.14393] is draining its battery when I don't use it. For example: I have 79% battery left. I've finished my work for today. I'm shutting down Windows 10 (no sleep mode, just turn off). Next day I open my computer and I see 10% battery.  I check Windows event viewer and my laptop didn't turn off properly, it just went to sleep. And 10% battery was left becasue I set power options (if battery = 10% go to hibernation). When I want to finish work I always use Start Menu / Power / Turn Off. I wait until screen goes blank and power led goes blank as well. Than I close the lid. Had anyone the same problem? What should I do to prevent this from happening again?

My Ideapad (100s-14IBR), that I have had for three years, is having an issue with charging. The battery light is flashing oranage, but not the steadt flash that I am used to. It is an erratic flashing. When I plug my laptop in, the battery symbol in the corner of the screen, when moused over, tells me that the laptop is plugged in but not charging. sir service engineer told me that your ram socket burns due to heat or power fluctuation  and so we have to change your motherboard for that and this is not covered in your warranty. i have adp warranty .So can i arugu with them in these conditions  ?Is warranty doesnot cover issue due to power fluctuation , which cover accidental protection, too ?

So I received my 720s yesterday. i7-8550U, UHD display, 512 SSD. No good. Backlight bleed on the top and bottom left corners (not horrific, but definitely too much for what is sold as the premium display) and the touchpad is clunky. You press in on either side and it clicks, but then goes in further and makes another click sound and tactile response. Has anyone else had similar problems with this model or a similar 720s? I called Lenovo and explained the problems (and they asked me to email them a picture, which I used lightbleedtest.com to display the issue). They told me that they're gonna send me a new machine, and then once I verify that the issue isn't existent on the new one, I'll send the old one back on a prepaid label. At the very least, I'm happy with the customer service and how they run the return process, but I really expected more with the quality control. Curious to see if there's similar issues that are known -- would rather not have to do a full return.

@Amy_Lenovo, @Mark_Lenovo: My Yoga 260 has developed a number of build quality issues after less than 1 year of ownership (see below). I had purchased an on-site NBD upgrade with ADP, but support tells me company policy is that if a service tech needs to repair more than one part, the device has to go into the depot. Seems a little nuts that we?d be penalized for Lenovo?s poor QC in that way. I can?t be without this unit for a week. Has anyone a) heard of this one-part policy for on-site service before, or b) had any luck getting Lenovo to service multiple parts on-site? I got a 2nd hand Lenovo Ideapad 100S. It came with Win10 installed but had someone elses profile and data. 
(I am not sure if it originally had Win8.1 when it was shipped, there is no rollback option anymore)
 
My preference is to wipe the current installation completely by downloading Win10 and installing a clean copy off USB. 
 
I also usually prefer to delete all partitions, including recovery because future reinstallations can be done from scratch via USB. (I don't need the option of reinstalling from recovery partitions , the extra space is more important)
 
I see a warning in the user guide however .....
"Do not delete or modify the Recovery Partition on a WIMBoot-enabled computer. If the Recovery Partition is deleted or modified, you may not be able to restore Windows to the factory status. For computer models on which WIMBoot is enabled, deleting the Recovery Partition may cause Windows to fail to start. How can I determine whether the Windows running on my computer is WIMBoot enabled? WIMBoot technology is normally enabled on copies of Windows 10 Update running on SSD (or eMMC) -only computer models."
 
What is the best way to do this?

Install a clean copy and remove the partition by booting off a USB, or should I not do this?
Via Settings: settings > Recovery > Reset this PC > Remove everything, or
settings > Recovery > advanced startup > Reinstall from USB

Welcome to the Community Forums. 
 
It's a good thing you posted first before proceeding with any clean installation. 
Not sure what the Machine Number is to verify the details and specifications of your system.
 
But if you have a pc with a Windows Image Boot (or WIMBoot) you may not want to choose a clean installation. 
This new deployment of installation is compressing part of a big OS file so that you can have an operating system that can only take small spaces intended for small storages (SSD).
 
Best option to wipe out previous owners profile is a have a fresh out of the box image is using the Puch button Factory reset (Novo key similar to Item 7 page 1). Simply shutdown the system and use the button to turn on, System Recovery option would provide One key recovery from initial backup to do it. 
 
WIM boot are usually created thru OEM depot authorized by Microsoft . DIY for WIMboot maybe a bit complicated.

   HP Notebook 15-BA077S A purchased Oct 16 A fault has occured over the past 8 weeks when 'Copy/Pasting'. Cntrl C to copy a link leads the Laptop to freeze. Ability to close Internet explorer leads to inability to reopen. Laptop needs to be shut down and re started. The problem then could re occur at any time and has even quickly after restart. Purchased through PC World, they have only offered 'replacement of keypad buttons', which doesn't solve the problem. Any solutions welcomed, but I have lost confidence in this product/my current machine so would preferably like to replace or gain refund through Manufacturers warrenty. Is this covered and likely?? Thanks

Hi,     My new System cam with Windows 10 Pre-installed. So there was no Installation Disk along with the package. I dont have any OS backup. So if  anyhing happens to my Hard Disk while the System is in Warranty, do they replace only the hard drive or they will install the windows 10 OS again for me ? Also there is no Product key came along with my System. It is something came with digital key , which i am not sure. But the Windows is activated. Hi, From my understanding no warranty for software BUT users normally get 3 months support (again for software). In your case: (a) There is a Recovery partition and instructions how to create Recovery media (DVD's, USB).(b) From Windows 8, Microsoft put product key for Windows in BIOS therefore you can reinstall or use recovery media to rebuild your machine. No need to activate again.(c) Upgrading RAM, HDD won't effect Windows, buy changing motherboard will normally require re-activate Windows. Regards.

I have issue with my Lenovo 100s, it doesn't charge or turn on. I tried all of "hold power button for 15 seconds" suggestions and decided to call local Lenovo service provider. And since I bought notebook in Malaysia, they were not sure if this is covered by Lenovo warranty and suggested to contact global Lenovo. And here I am, I chacked warranty status online, it's kinda valid, but I cannot use live chat, because it doesn't work in my country, I cannot order call, because I cannot change Malaysian country code to my country code in phone number input field, so I'm writing here.
 
Any suggestions?

I own a Dell Inspiron 5547. I have purchased a Dell notebook for my wife as well and my choice for the company notebook was also Dell. This was because I have trusted the quality and the 3 year warranty.Parts Only warranty 11/4/14 - 11/4/15Carry-in Service/Return to Depot warranty 11/4/14 - 11/4/17
A long time ago, a screw fell out from the notebook and there was no way to put it back, it always came out. Please note that I have never ever tried to do any modifications/repairs on the notebook. As I could not afford to put it into the service for 2 weeks, I've tried to open and close it always with maximum care. Still, it broke eventually and I needed to go to the local Hungarian warranty partner, where I was told that Dell won't cover the issue and I got an offer over USD 150 for repair.
I admit that with turning in the notebook, the damages would have been smaller, but still, the place for the screw would have needed a change and also the plastic and other parts were not as strong as required. I've googled Dell hinge issues and it seems to be a common issue.
In order to keep my trust in Dell, I would like at least a partial guarantee. Else, due to the lack of trust I will need to look for another brand when I will need to replace laptops. This is something I would not like.

After 4.5 months of new Lenovo laptop usage the motherboard is dead. The laptop is under the warranty, but Lenovo cannot repair it, the ticket status is frozen for 20 days - "We are working diligently to obtain replenishment stock and will repair your machine as soon as the part becomes available". Maybe I am wrong, but the world "warranty" means something different. I escalated the ticket to level 2, they suggested to replace my machine having Core i7-6500U by Intel® Pentium® 4405U. And no ETA for the parts needed for repair. I do not want the money back, I want the machine and the service for which I have paid, because it was a present for my kid. But I pretty sure it was my last time buying something from Lenovo.

Hi, I just got out of an online chat with an HP technician who informed me, after helping me through troubleshooting for what was a faulty battery, that the Extended Warranty Care Pack taken out for the laptop did not cover the battery.  Their reasoning was that "The unit is covered under warranty but the warranty for the batteri is expired." If this is true then when I look up the laptop's current warranty status on HP's website, what it tells me is a bit misleading: "Active: Covered under Extended warranty,  42  months remaining" (for reference HP Support Assistant tells me the warranty for the laptop is a HP Care Pack and lasts until 2020). When I hover over the question mark icon on HP's website next to the warranty status, the icon brings up a box which states: "Warranty Status Types ?Manufacturer?s warranty? refers to the warranty included with the product upon first purchase. ?Extended warranty? refers to any extra warranty coverage or product protection plan,  purchased for an additional cost, that extends or supplements the manufacturer?s warranty." So then I'm curious about a few things. 1. How can I see what exactly this Extended Warranty covers?  In HP Support Assistant it justs lists HP Care Pack and the date it is set to expire. 2. I bought a Lenov Ideapad 510 15IKB on 14th April 2017. Now I'm facing 2 issues with the warranty registration and warranty upgrade: Issue#1On April 16th I registered the base warranty of my product as it should start from the purchase date of my product. After few email conversations for purchase proof, finally on 3rd May, I received email confirming the base warranty registration of my product. It was starting from 14th April 2017 and ending on 13th April 2018. I checked the same on lenovo website. But few days back when I again checked the warranty status, it was restored to factory warranty (15 Oct 2016 - 13 nov 2017). I don't know why this happened and how this happened. I have been using my current motherboard for about 4 years. The warranty period of 3 years is over. I don't know when will this motherboard die out. In my place certain brands of motherboard are available for the current processor I am using. They are: GIGABYTE,MSI, ASUS, ASRock, Biostar, Foxconn etc. All the motherboards have 1 - 3 years of warranty period depending on distributor or seller.

In the event that the current motherboard dies out which brand of motherboard should I buy? I read in a few sites that ASUS gives trouble in warranty claims for their faulty or nonfunctional motherboards, if the motherboard crashes before the warranty period.I want to avoid such trouble. I also read that, in recent times, ASUS motherboard quality is only prevailing by age old "ASUS" name, while other manufacturers are producing high quality motherboards and some are sincere about warranty claims from customer. Which motherboard manufacturer is sincere about warranty claims and produce "truly" high quality motherboards and not just depending on previous fame from 10-20 years back?

All mfg [or almost all] make both high end and low end boards. Just because you purchase an asus or a gigabyte board does not in and of itself mean it is a high quality board.
I use and recommend Asus, Gigabyte, and Asrock boards. Go with a high end board and you should be fine. As for warranty claims, never had to do a warranty on a board. Quality boards just work.

I've been given a Lenovo Ideapad 100S-11IBY.It doesn't boot and the drive is empty, completey blank.I've tried making Windows 7 and Windows 10 USB boot disks but they dont show in the boot manager, and I've disabled/enabled secure boot in the bios to rule that out too. There must be a way to boot from a Windows disk to reinstall the OS

After Windows 10 aniversary update, cant turn off IdeaPad 100s. Windows Icon, press turn off. Screen goes off after while, but the white LED is still on. Next day battery is empty. Charge battery Turn on and off. Same story. Have to press on/off button for few seconds so the LED goes off. How is it possible that I cant turn off this laptop after Windows 10 Aniversary update. Should I restore it or what should I do. Because I dont want to turn off everytime by pressing on/off button for few seconds. As I can see, Im not the only person with this issue. And please dont teal me to take out the battery ?

Unlike other laptops I've had which were able to run without the battery even in the laptop, i.e. Only plugged in, my laptop requires some level of charging before even turning on when plugged in.  is this normal or is there a setting to allow the device to turn on when plugged in. Quite a pain having to wait for it to re charge, isn't that the point of corded use? Also it seems to die pretty quickly and even when put to sleep when closed fizzles out quickly. Again is this normal?

I have a 100s 11.6 and, of course, the memory is full.  Almost instantly.  I bought a 64gb card for it but when I go into disk management and try to delete the D partition, all 3 choices are greyed out.  Do the same with C partition and the only choice is Shrink Volume.  Is there a work-around ?? Also, reading online, all I've read says the memory is soldered in on my model.  When I pulled the back off it, I see that the boards are plugged in.  I'd be real pleased if I could buy a larger capacity board to install.  Is that possible ??  Barring any of the above, I can manually copy and paste individual files from C drive to D drive to make a bit more room on C, but not sure which ones are safe to do so or how to go about it without messing up my OS.  Yah, I'm a newbie at this stuff and need hand-hold assistance. Thanks in advance.

I loved the size and price point of the Lenovo Ideapad 100S. However, of course because it only came with 30GB of hard drive space, Windows 10 basically maxed it out immediately. So, tonight I just tried to do something about it. I purchased a Samsung M.2 SSD 256 GB. I have a screenshot and I really think I installed it right. I just can't figure out how to get the bios to recognize it. Disk management doesn't show it at all. I rebooted into bios and reset defaults and restarted to no avail. What did I do wrong here? Is it just that the Ideapad can't recognize this particular M.2 SSD? Please see the screenshot I have attached. Any suggestions on how to get the bios to recognize this? I am facing issues with my new ideapad 100s spacebar key.Pressing the sides of the long spacebar key does not trigger a "space". I have to press hard in the center of the spacebar to get a "space". Is this a design issue or my spacebar techincal issue?Do you face the same problem? It makes my typing very difficult.

My idea pad went off and not turning on, when I kept power plug and I hear small beep sound continuesly with 1 sec interval along with little zzzzz noise, if I keep close to ear. When I switch on power I don't see any lights on and screen alway off. thanks for any help!!

i bought second hand ideapad 100s now i waz trying to reinstall os which was windows 10 now a deleted partition now if says no bootable media it doesnt even detect the memory stick with os also it doesnt even give me the option to set the bios to legasy

Could you please be specific on the issue.Does time lagging refers to what? Slow booting or time delayed to execute commands or time taken to open any folder.. etc ?

When I plug in the charger to the computer it show plugged in, charging but the percentage didn't increase at all. It work normally if I pluging in. The battary is now only 9%.
