I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Tell us the exact Motherboard in the PC then we can look for Network drivers for it.
Is it a wired Ethernet connection to the modem/router or wireless ?
I assume it's 64 bit Windows 10.

Hi,

HELP!

I?ve been having a strange problem I cannot seem to solve.

My computer all of a sudden last week stopped displaying any webpages/connecting to the internet. It says it is connected (signal strenght/connection= excellent) but it won?t actually connect. Not to IE (7), but not to anything else either. The problem is both for the wireless as well as through the cabel connection.

I?m sure the problem must be the computer and not the internet though, because on my friend?s computer it works fine. I have tried to put all the settings the same as on his (gateway, dns, network mask).

I have already tried to reboot the computer.

I have tried to renew/reset the IP-address numerous times, but am not sure this is working right. I have manually tried to set it (same as the computer that does connect, except for the last two digits).
But when I do it through Run it will let me release the IP-address, however when i try to renew it tells me

?An error occurred while renewing interface Local Area Connection: An operation was attempted on something that is not a socket.?

I have also tried to reset WinSock.

It will not ping either, I tried yahoo.com and 66.218.71.198 - it tells me Destination host is unreachable.

The last windows diagnostics I have are as followed;

Hello,
I put the hard disk of my old Laptop into my new one and now I am unable to connect my WIFI to my Laptop since it?s a very old version of Windows and I don?t know my way around anymore. (Windows 7 Home Premium)
kind regards,

A:Can’t connect to WIFI (Windows 7)

That will not work, one needs to have the different drivers for the new machine within the OS that is on the old drive.
Did you remove the new drive that was in the new laptop?
If not, what steps did you take to add the old drive to the new laptop?

I’m using Vista 64 and in the Network explorer I see the computer names (2 XP computers A and B) come up.
For XP computer A I can see the shared folders.
But for XP computer B, it just shows the computer but I can’t open it.
It says: “Windows cannot access \\B. Check the spelling of the name. Otherwise, there might be a problem with your network. To try to identify and resolve network problems, click Diagnose.”
And of course that button does not help.

But I know the network is working because using B, I can access other network folders on A and the Vista machine. But not the other way around.

I just installed a D-Link wireless router (DI-524). The network shows up with a strong signal when I do a site survey from my laptop (Dell Latitude D400), but it wont connect to it. Ive tried connecting using both the PCs built-in wireless card and also the USB wireless adapter (DWL-G122) that came with the D-Link kit, with no luck. Other relevant facts:

--I have no trouble connecting to other networks with the built-in wireless card
--Tried changing my network's channel; didn't help
--Im sure I typed the WEP encryption key correctly
--Laptop is only 3 ft. from the router, no barriers or interfering devices present (2.4Mhz phone, monitor, etc.)
--Router has the latest firmware upgrade
--Tried several network mgt. utilities (Dells, D-Links AirPlus, Network Magic), including their repair network features

Im stumped. Can anyone suggest anything else I might try?

Get closer.....

or at least more within LOS [line-of-sight]. If he has the ability, higher-gain antennae [+7dBi should suffice] could give a boost.

I have a Hotspot that I use on my tablet or iPad when on the road. Curious if I can connect to my desktop pc when I have and outage on my cable internet. I would assume a wireless dongle would be needed and disconnect the pc from the local router. Does that sound workable?

Thanks

A:Want to connect a Win 8 pc to a Hotspot

If it's a wifi hotspot then just adding a wireless dongle would work , you would just need to connect to the wifi network and you will have internet access , as soon as your cable comes back , disconnect from the wifi source and the cable internet would then take over again.

Welcome!

Judging from what you have wrote, you are not able to go to the internet on a laptop/notebook? These machines are usually wireless so to confirm:

You have a wireless network in your home/work?
If so are you able to see it in the wireless network list (typically on the bottom right, in the signal bar icon)
If you are able to see the network, what happens when you select it to connect?

Hi,

I've been using a hotspot wifi with my Windows 7 computer for several months now. The hotspot requires login, the redirect is automatic. This morning I tried to connect and it says This site can?t be reached www.hotspots.de took too long to respond. I tried connecting with my phone, everything is working fine. I've tried connecting my computer to another (slower and weaker signal) hotspot which does not require login in, works fine.

I've done a troubleshoot on the network, it came out with the following message:

resource (www.hotspots.de) is online but isn't responding to connection attempts. The remote computer isn't responding to connections on port 433, possibly due to firewall or security policy settings, or because it might be temporarily unavailable.
Windows couldn't find any problems with the firewall on your computer.

I'm using avast. I tried switching off all the shields, made no difference.
Also, if it is the antivirus that is blocking my connection, why is it only blocking this particular hotspot, while I can still connect to other much more inferior one and browse the web?
I work at home using the internet so it's imperative for me to have a good connection. I might be using a lot of data, and it's a public hotspot, so it made me suspect that they might have blocked me from that particular hotspot? Is it even a technical possibility?

Please help!

Hey guys hope you can help me out, yes its that "limited or not connectivity" time again.

Here's the deal, I've fresh installed my laptop (an Advent 7660M) with a new copy of windows XP pro SP2, installed all the new drivers for the "PRISM 802.11g wireless adapter" and turned on the WLAN switch to connect to our campus's new hotspots.

Now when i try to connect I get a "limited or no connectivity" bubble and I am unable to surf to any sites (including the one we need to logon to to get online)

I've run ipconfig /renew and it says "unable to contact your DHCP
server. Request has timed out." and ipconfig /all tells me that i have a IP address and a subnet mask but nothing else.

My internet options -> connections -> lan settings is set to automatically detect settings

when i specify my IP address then it says that it is connected however i am still unable to browse anything, the machine is reciving packets but it doesn't send any.

Anyone know whats going on with this thing? I've tried all the fixes and stuff you guys have said

A:Can't connect to my campus hotspot!

Which vendor & model wireless? Check to see if the campus is
802.11{a,b,g} Your card must be able to match that deployed on campus,
as they all use different frequencies as well as protocols.

Well, after trying everything I can think of, I figured I'd give this a try. Hopefully, someone can show me what I'm missing. I'm using a Toshiba u205-5002 with WinXP 2 Pro. I've tried various software firewalls including Mcafee, Zonealarm, Sunbelt KPF, and Comodo. Presently, all are unistalled.
The problem is that I can't connect to what seems a certain router IP - 192.168.112.x . At first I thought it was just one hotspot I was having trouble with, but I've noticed it on another public router with the same IP. The computer shows me being connected, however, I can't surf. I can connect to the hotspots with my Pocket PC and surf, but nothing with the laptop. I've tried installing the exact same IP, gateway and even DNSs manually, but still nothing. I've tried pinging the router IP, but still nothing - 100% loss. If I go to Network Connections>right-click my wirless connection>Status>Support tab, I show I'm connected with an IP in the 192.168.112.x range. What am I missing?

Hi guys,
I have an issue I would like to resolve. I will try to be as clear and precised as possible.
I'm only allowed to one device to an internet. My laptop connects directly to internet WiFi. So the laptop (Windows 10) serves as a hotspot. But I have two other devices I want to connect. A PC (Windows 7) via Ethernet and a smartphone via WiFi.
Right now, I can either share the WiFi in laptop to the PC by bridging, or to smartphone via hospot, but NOT both at the same time. I want to connect both like this;

What should I do?

Thanks

Hello, I have recently moved into a new house. This house does not get any cable internet, and I would rather not use DSL as this house is a bit far from the town where the DSL line starts. Satellite internet is not an option either as it does not meet my needs. I do however, get good LTE connection here (<40ms latency) and thought that getting a hotspot from Verizon wouldn't be such a bad idea. I am aware of the somewhat high price of the data. I don't need to much data though. I usually don't watch any Netflix or HD videos at all. So I am set on getting one of those Verizon hotspot devices.
