I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I never had problems imaging Lenovo Laptops, so we got a X270 as a demo and i put Windows 10 Enterprise on there, enabled the chip in bios and it is using TPM 2.0 which is the only difference compared to T550, T450 and P50 i had image. Whenever i try to start bitlocking (encrypting the drive) i'll put in a pin number, recovery is stored in Active Directory but as soon as it restarts I get the following error: "The BitLocker Encryption key cannot be obtained. Verify that the Trusted Platform Module (TPM) is enabled and ownership has been taken. If this computer does not have a TPM, verify that the USB drive is inserted and available. C: was not encrypted" I can't think of anything else to fix this. Since this is a 30 day demo trial, we might as well send it back. We have NVME for HPS which I am able to put our image on and bitlock with no issues. I can't believe I don't see much online about this. I can't be the only one. Any suggestions much appreciate it.

Hey all! I picked up a refurb'd X270 from the Lenovo Outlet store for super cheap with a 180GB SATA SSD. I did lots of poking around on the forums to see if anyone had successfully done the upgrade to NVMe, and the concensus was mixed with no one really agreeing what parts were needed. I successfully pulled it off and wanted to share for future users! What you NEED:NVMe-capable M.2 SSDFRU 01HW969 - cable from motherboard to the M.2 adapterFRU 01HY565 - M.2 adapter and bracket I ordered my OEM parts through Encompass for around $40 shipped, not including the cheap 256GB Intel 600p SSD I already had laying around. The process took less than 10 minutes to complete. 1 - Assemble the M.2 adapter with your new NVMe SSD. NOTE: M.2 SATA SSDs are NOT compatible, ONLY NVMe.2 - Boot to BIOS, navigate to Power to disable the internal battery.3 - Remove the external battery and unscrew the screws from the bottom plate of the system, and gently remove the plate.4 - Remove the single screw holding in the existing SATA drive and gently remove from system.5 - Remove the SATA cable from the motherboard, being careful to lift the little metal latch before pulling horizontally out of the connector.6 - Attach the new cable to the motherboard. I had to bend mine a bit to make it fit, but I used the original cable to show me where to bend.7 - Attach the new cable to the M.2 adapter and install in place using the same screw.8 - Reattach the bottom plate, put in your battery, and ... Hello,

I did not see any Intel Rapid Storage Technology drivers for the ThinkPad X270 and Windows 7 on Lenovo's support site, but I did find this support article explaining how to make a Windows 7 ISO with USB 3.0 and NVME drivers:

https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/solutions/ht103541

Perhaps this will work for you?

Exactly as the tread title says. I already installed the two hotfixes in the Win7 image and re-captured it. We had to do this back with the first few NVMe drive T460's and x260s. I also put the OCZ drivers in the image. -  but still it gets a 0x0000007E boot loop after MDT applies the image. Any ideas? Is there a newer driver I should be using?

Hi, first time posting and I'd like to report a serious issue rendering the new X270 critically unstable. There's an issue with the SSD after it enters low power D3 state. After it happens, the drive (or controller) refuses to wake up. Entering D3 seems to be due to relative inactivity. Also, upgrading BIOS to 1.09 doesn't help. I can get this couple of times a day so it makes the X270 unreliable for work. This is triggering regardless of having power adapter plugged in or unplugged and it seems only related to the drive going to sleep. One time I got BSOD on Windows was when I was copying files between two external HDDs (so the internal drive wasn't busy). On Windows this results with BSOD saying it can't save core dump because of memory or drive error. Linux is little more informative about what happens and the system doesn't die straight away because it caches quite a lot of the data read from the drive (that excessive caching is also why the drive is likely to go to sleep more often). For last couple of days I was running with dmesg -wH in the background. The drive always fails the same way: [Mar21 01:31] nvme 0000:04:00.0: controller is down; will reset: CSTS=0xffffffff, PCI_STATUS=0xffff

I am looking for a new laptop. I currently have a X121e and recall it being extremely easy to configure on Lenovo's site. So I decided to look at the X270. However, having had great difficulty even starting to configure it (apparently, Lenovo does not favour Firefox any longer), I'm currently having trouble understanding the choices. The first is the choice between PCIe and SATA PointingDevice. Following some discussion, I gather this has nothing to do with any kind of pointing device, but affects my HDD/SSD choices. OK, so let's see what the PCIe choices give me. I get 5 'first hard drive' options. (Nothing I do gets me a 'second hard drive' option, so not sure about this. Or rather, I almost understand this now I've read the platform specification, the user manual, the hardware maintenance manual and various posts on Reddit. Lenovo do like to make buying a challenge!) Now, however, I've reached the end of my google-fu. Intel 256 GB Solid State Drive OPAL2.0 PCIe-NVMe256 GB Solid State Drive PCIe-NVMe OPAL2.0 - CapableIntel 512 GB Solid State Drive OPAL2.0 PCIe-NVMe512 GB Solid State Drive, PCIe-NVMe OPAL2.01 TB Solid State Drive OPAL2.0 PCIe-NVMeI understand the difference beween 1/2 and 3/4 and 5 is obviously size. Hi, bought a Yoga 720-15 with GeForce 1050 4GB, FHD display, 8GB RAM and 512 GB SSD.Realized that the SSD is OK-isch on read speeds but not as good as promised by Samsung and that write rates are actually very bad.In device manager the storage controller is listed as an Intel RAID controller with respective Intel driver, in BIOS it is selected as a RAID type.I tried to install the Samsung NVMe driver (V2.2 available in the internet), but not possible.Changed the controller in BIOS from RAID to AHCI. As expected windows ends in blue screen on boot. Same on 2nd boot. On 3rd boot windows starts in repair-/recovery mode. On that menu select the safe-boot. The safe-boot works and windows loads the Samsung NVMe driver automatically. Boot again in standard mode and the system again loads the Samsung NVMe driver. Crystallmark and AS-SSD show improved read values and even more improved write speeds. Speeds now according to Samsung specs and fast as light. Not sure why ever Lenovo delivered the system w/o proper driver selected and a single SSD in RAID mode in BIOS?!, but for me this now works

There are various levels of performance in NVMe drives - they are not all the same.  Your Toshiba drive is known for being one of the slower models out there -- you're never going to see barnstorming performance from it.

Hello,
I would like to know if it's possible to turn my Latitude 5470 PCIE lane to 4x rather than 2x by enabling OPI GT4 rather than  OPI GT2 ?
Reading, this article it seems to be possible => www.anandtech.com/.../choosing-the-right-ssd-for-a-skylakeu-system
Intel released a BIOS update to do this on his NUC, so why not DELL ?
Moreover, it seems that the power consumption is quite the same between 2x and 4x.
Thanks !
EDIT : Running HWINFO it is clearly specified that the Maximum Link Width is 4x, unfortunately the Current Link Width is set to 2x ....
Is there any explanation ?

My new purchased T470s laptop (Serial Number: PC0S7E53 Machine Type Model: 20HGS24J00) is equiped with a 256GB PCLe SSD. The SSD is neither Samsung nor Toshiba. It's called LENSE20256MSP34MEAT2A ?! I don't even know how to search the specs of such part, as there is totally no information for such ssd in Google! But the key point is the SSD obtained a relatively low write speed compared with other NVMe SSD. As shown in test record by crystaldiskmark, the write speed is only 160 MB/s. Is this normal? Is it possible to ask for a change of SSD? Because my purchase is still within 7 days. Also, the battery is not that long-lasting as it claimed to be (10.5 hours). I charged until 100% and use the laptop for document reading with some online search in Wikipedia. The battery performance has been set to "better battery" and I didn't play videos and music in the process. The battery runs into 17% in 4 to 5 hours. Although I didn't expect it will hit 10.5 hours, but it is too much beyond that???? Could everyone help me with this? Is it normal or is that any possible solutions? Thank you!

Microsoft has released NVMe Hotfixes 2990941 & 3087873 that add native NVMe drivers to Windows 7.
However if I am say installing Windows 7 SP1 on say Samsung NVme drive and Samsung has released suitable drivers in the form of INF, SYS and CAT files, do I really need to integrate these MS Hotfixes in Windows 7?
Can Windows 7 SP1 supplied with Samsung NVMe drivers (Either slip streamed or during install) be able to detect Samsung NVMe drive and install itself on to it?
As the title says are those MS Hotfixes a must (sort of pre-requsite) to get NVMe drive detected during installation, apart from any vendor provided drivers?
Thanks.

up until windows preview build 14986, the pcie driver "Mobile 6th Generation Intel(R) Processor Family I/O PCI Express Root Port #5 - 9D14" (v10.1.1.27) correctly detects the "Standard NVM Express Controller" storage controller and the Toshiba THNSN5512GPU7 NVMe disk attached to it. starting with windows preview build 15002 (and 15007), the included pcie driver has troubles detecting the storage controller - during bootup, it is detected 4 times, with each time on a different device id. subsequently, the drive is also added 4 times, resulting in boot controller errors & timeouts and failed sleep mode/shutdowns. the included chipset driver in these latest builds seem to have been bumped to v10.1.1.33. the problem can easily be replicated by using unmodified recovery boot usb sticks made from the official isos, and then checking in a recovery console. it is thus not related to anything installed in my system.

I need some advice about the displays for the x270 ? is the HD display on the x270 an IPS? I didn?t find this info here https://www3.lenovo.com/us/en/laptops/thinkpad/thinkpad-x/ThinkPad-X270/p/20HNCTO1WWENUS0/customize?...! My current x240 with has HD resolution (I can?t tell if it?s IPS or not) model 20ALCTO1WW ? I?m considering replacing it with the x270.I?ve heard good things about the FHD display but I?m concerned that with the FHD panel my font size will be too tiny for my 50+ year old eyes in its native resolution. I?ve heard that scaling the display results in suboptimal rendering/quality of text/fonts. Has anyone looked at both versions of the display? How do they compare? I?ll be using the system for mostly coding/writing and perhaps watching some videos. No Graphics or PS intensive work. Might hook it up to the tv from time to time (not that often) The display on the x240 isn?t the greatest (could be brighter for sure) but it works fine, so I could probably do fine with the same type for the x270 ? or is there something that I ought to consider? Thanks! PS: FWIW, I?m planning to get the i5-7300 model with 16 GB RAM and the 500 GB drive (that I plan to replace with a standard SSD 500 GB or 1TB drive ? hopefully not a problem).

I can't seem to find a power input rating for the X270 I currently have on order. Of course, I know you can use a 65w with one, but it won't improve charge times if the amp input is limited. The store pages don't list the AC adapters output ratings by adapter and the C.S. chat reply was, "I don't have that information available." I know the output on the 45w is [email protected] simply because I already have one for my X240. Anyone with a 65w willing to post the output for me would be greatly appreciated. More appreciated would be anyone that happens to know what the X270's input ratings are so I can determine if charge times could be cut with a 65w. TIA

I   replaced the keyboard of my X270, not realising how much more difficult this process was than on an X230. I got everything working, and it powered up fine.  But my X270 wont power on. It recognises the AC adapter. Pushing the emergency powerup pinhole next to the battery doesn't work either.  I suspect that the power button is not working. I opened up the laptop to investigate, and found that a connector around the area of the power button is damaged (pictured).  The wire seems to have detached from the smaller connector.  My questions:Is this connector related to the power button?  Can I find a replacement, or repair with soldering?  Where can I find a map of the motherboard so I can confirm what this part is myself

A:Veriton X270 - Windows 10

Hi Scutu The X270 is an older model PC, but as you're running Windows 8 successfully, it SHOULD upgrade to Windows 10. You can: 1. Image your hard drive, so if Windows 10 causes problems you can return exactly as it was, many weeks after upgrading   or 2. Upgrade to Windows 10. you can revert back to Windows 8 by going to Settings>Update & Security>Recovery. Follow the on screen instructions. There is a 30 day limit to do this.
