Lenovo Y530 - BSOD after unsleep

Q: Lenovo Y530 - BSOD after unsleep

Hi,I have a huge problem with my laptop Lenovo Y530 Legion: Y530 i7-8750H 15.6" / 16GB DDR4 / OS 256GB SSD M.2 PCIe + 1TB HDD / GTX1050 / Win10P.I cannot un-sleep my laptop. After un-sleeping I have always a BSOD with one of these errors: memory management, kernel in page error, `critical process died` and maybe more because BSOD disappears very quickly so I can never be sure if I've missed something. The laptop has up-to-date drivers. I updated it using driver booster 6 and Lenovo vantage. Windows 10 Professional is up-to-date too.I tried:* disabled/enabled intel virtualization on bios options* I updated my bios (I have up-to-date bios)* My drivers are up-to-date (nothing helps)* I used Lenovo diagnostic tools and each report finished with success* I used the memtest (test was OK)* I checked my hard drive (test OK; smart OK)* I tried sleep/un-sleep on battery mode and power mode - the same situation*enabled/disabled fast bootI'm also attaching a few minidumps and log events. Maybe these files can help. You can find them here: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/ddua7d7qahie81y/AACZn5-VJBdtQwcqyg-eIqOTa?dl=0I have this problem from the beginning. Could you help me? It is really annoying ;/

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Hi, I've recently bought brand new Lenovo Y530 with 512gb SSD and 512gb M2.SSD disks without the Operating system.I've prepared the USB with a windows image using Windows usb tool, disabled the fast boot, disabled secure boot, boot is set to the UEFI, I can see my USB in the EFI section of the BIOS and then once I start the laptop it goes directly to the BSOD (image included) I never get the chance to get into windows installation. Once again, the system is clean, there was no OS installed on it before. If I remove the USB and start the laptop then It waits on the black screen. Does anyone have any idea what might be wrong? I've also tried with different USB and it's the same result. Thanks!

hi Nightingale13,

Device Manager Error Code 43 indicates that the device has failed, either thru hardware or the software's driver. Have you tried to uninstall and delete the device's driver software and let windows take over in installing it automatically?

See Uninstall or Reinstall a Device for instructions.

Hello, On the lenovo website (in germany) there are several versions of the y530 to choose from. Of the last two one costs 1399 euro, while the other 1599. The only difference being that the latter has windows 10 installed, and the one for 1399 euro only has FreeDOS. Why a 200 euro difference only for windows 10? Is upgrading the y530 from FreeDOS to Windows 10 very difficult, or whats the issue here? Thanks in advance

I have gone into the power settings and changed the time the display turns off. Checked all the power settings. Can not figure out why the screen goes black after 3 min. Touching the mouse it wakes up right away. Is there a problem with this computer or is there some setting I am missing? Jeff

Hi,

Welcome to the forums.  Do you have Lenovo Vantage installed?  Under hardware settings is there something that looks like the below?  I have that option on my Thinkpad and I believe my nephew had it on his Ideapad too.

Last week i scanned my new lenovo y530 using lenovo vantage due to a slow start up and during the HDD scan  the SMART short self test wont complete and gets stuck at 10% even after leaving it overnight , how to fix this , should i be worried about it?

A:CANT COMPLETE HARDWARE SCAN ON MY LENOVO Y530

I don't think you should be worried that much about it. If your device is slowly booting try turning off some startup apps and clean up your disk since the more you store on it the more time is required for it to boot from the HDD. You can also test with Windows's Error checking on the drive if there are file system errors. And you can run Disk Defragment to speed up your device a bit. Check to see if you can hear any unusual clicking noises coming from the drive. Hope this helpsCheers

Hello everyone.I was wanting to play some game on my Lenovo when the screen froze. I manually shutdown my computer and ride to turn it back on. I got stuck on the automatic repair failed error message. So I searched for a lot of solutions which didn?t work so I decided to réinitialise windows because it has only been two weeks since I got it so it?s not a big deal. When it was done that?s when the problem started. When I press the power button, it displays the legion logo and i hear the fans and the keyboard LED?s light up but then it shutsdown and does the same loop ove and over again. I don?t know what to do.

Hi!I'm a pretty new gaming notebook owner, as i got a really screaming good deal on a y530 (8750h/1060-6gb/16gb/512ssd/144hz). Im currently trying out some recommendations from the internet like undervolting the CPU and having the power limit at 50W (CPU) and im currently getting 2678 points in cinebench r20, and the cpu is sitting comfortably at 70-72 degrees C at full load. (-0,150v undervolt) Is this good or is there something else i should change?

Hi,

I format my Lenovo y530 notebook today. But there is a problem. After installation, Windows7 doesn't see my videocard. I can't remember exactly but I have a G-force 9300M or 9500M. But in Computer Management, It shown as "Standart VGA Graphics Adapter". How can I find my video card again?

Please help. Thanks for your answers.

A:Win7 doesn't see my video card. Lenovo y530

Windows 7 has installed a generic driver for the card. You need to go the cards manufacturers site and download the correct driver for windows 7. Then unistall the card in Device Manager and then install the new driver.

So I have a Lenovi Legion Y530, I bought this very recently. Specs: i7 8750H, Gtx 1050Ti, 16 Gigs of Ram, 128Gb SSD, 1Tb HD. So I decided to overclock my gpu (with Msi Afterburner) I increased the GPU clock by 350mhz, and the memory clock by 150mhz. I also undervolted the cpu by -0.140 volts. (I'm pretty sure this is the gpu's problem). I tried running Time Spy in 3DMark. This worked before I overclocked. While the benchmark was loading, it froze on the loading screen. Everything else worked, but I couldn't exit. It was just stuck on the screen. I couldnt enter task manager, or go to the desktop. My only option was to force shutdown. When I turned it on the Legion logo popped up and had the loading icon. Then it disappeared and nothing's loads after it, it stays as a black screen. Keep in mind that I don't have the tools to access the internals of the laptop. So I need a way to fix it someway else. Thanks in advance.

Hello, I have had the following happen to 2 different Lenovo Legion Y530 laptops in the last week. For the first laptop it was accidentally allowed to run down to zero. For the second laptop it was intentially run down to zero to try to recreate this problem.  Unfortunately it succeeded. Here are the steps:Laptop runs down to zero and shuts off.  When plugged in, on power on, states laptop was not powered down normally and then brings up Recovery screen (blue screen).  Claims missing or errors in iaStorAC.sys.  The first laptop problem claimed HAL.dll was missing or corrupt. From the blue screen, most options lead back to this recovery screen.  Only the BIOS options goes elsewhere. From the novo button, I've tried:- System Recovery - appears to work but returns to Recovery screen.- Restore from Restore point (after booting from USB) - claims it works (after some hd repair) and then returns to Recovery screen.- From command line, repairing the boot config data (ran into permission errors on some commands) - no success. I called Lenovo support and after verifying that the harddrive was still recognized by the bios, had me attempt System Recovery from the novo menu.  When that failed, claimed it was a hardware issue and needed to be sent in for repair.  Seems unlikely it would be the same hardware problem on 2 separate laptops.  It seems related to the power down corrupting the boot files. From the recent reviews at Bestbuy... I've had my laptop for less than 2 months, but recently I got stuck in an auto-repair loop (possibly a virus), so I took my laptop to my university's tech center. Once there they wiped my laptop clean and installed a fresh install of Windows 10. A couple of my drivers got deleted like my mouse and wifi drivers, but they re-installed them there as well. Everything was fine just a little slow, I re-installed all my apps/games back. I never really checked for Windows 10 updates until a couple days ago because I randomly got this error when trying to play my games. It would say something like this: "ERROR: your video card does not support alpha blending with floating point render targets (D3DFMT_A16B16G16R16F)". I have a GTX 1050 ti, so I was really confused. I looked up how to fix it on other forums and even Reddit. Apparently, this happens when your laptop tries using the GPU built into the motherboard instead of the actual graphics card. Many suggested uninstalling the current GPU drivers and re-installing them. So that's exactly what I tried, but now whenever I try to express install the newest driver on Geforce Experience; it says "The Standard NVIDIA graphics driver is not compatible with this version of Windows. Please update your driver using...(website)". The website it gives is not even available, so I look up and manually try to download/install the driver myself, but it gives me the same message it did on Geforce Experience. So I finally decide to update Win... Read more

Hello - this is the second charger that seems to be having problems.  The last one I had overheated so badly (after having the laptop for two weeks) that I could smell burning plastic, and it would no longer charge the laptop.  I returned the laptop and got a new one of the same kind, with a new charger (same model), and now it's charging the laptop but is making a crackling noise...is this normal?  I'm considering getting another kind of laptop (not lenovo) since this has been a bad experience so far.

Hello everyone! Its been a while since I've been on here. I have a Lenovo yoga 2 11 that won't come out of sleep. What happened was that my girlfriend didn't shutdown her laptop but just merely closed the lid. Apparently, she does this pretty often. When she went to turn it on, it wouldn't come on. Anything I can do to make it come out of it? And the battery on these things are non detachable.

You are pressing the power button?

You may have to hold down the power button until the system totally powers off then restart it.

Hope it did not get over heated while in stand by mode.

I recently purchased a new Y530-15ICH from the Lenovo site and came up with the following Windows BSOD issue after installing an SSD upgrade:  Stop code: SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLEDWhat failed: iaStorAVC.sys Further details on the issue: this is caused by waking up the laptop after either putting the system to sleep and/or hibernate by closing it or by manually choosing the sleep/hibernate option from the Windows power menu.  Original HDD included: generic 1 TB 7200 rpm HDUpgraded SSD drives with the issue: Samsung Evo 860 500 GB and Kingston HyperX 240 GB (I have installed both and both are causing the same issue) I have downloaded and installed every updated and recommended drivers from the Lenovo/Samsung/Kingston official product sites and I have even updated the BIOS for the Y530 (also from the Lenovo official site). This issue happens every time I wake the computer up, no exception.  I can post additional information. I already spoke to the service contact phone with no luck - they are requesting me to send the computer to repairs but I wanted to try a different solution if available first. I have tried almost everything - Lenovo diagnostics, formatting both drives and reinstalling Windows, etc.  Has anyone had the same problem and solved it successfully? Is this hardware related? Or driver related? Does Optane memory included with the laptop influences this issue?  Please feel free t... Read more

I have an Acer laptop with a fingerprint reader and Windows 7 and don't like the way the Sleep/Switch User options work.

My family and I all use the laptop and usually several of us are logged in at once. When one of use wants to use the laptop, they fire it up, log in, surf the net for a bit (or whatever), then send it to sleep. The next person to use it, unsleeps, logs in with their account, uses it, then sleeps again. So now 2 accounts are logged in and available to continue work... etc. That way any work or websites we had open are available immeadiately from where we left off if we log in later on. Yes, this does mean that occasionally we lose our work if the laptop has to restart for an update or another user manually reboots, but we rarely sleep without saving work and usually it's just websites up, so staying logged in is more a convenience thing, rather than critical thing, so we're willing to live with that.

Anyway, I have a slight annoyance with how this works:

When we unsleep, Windows 7, goes to the log on screen for the last user - "helpfully" assuming the last person to sleep the computer is probably the person who is unsleeping it and allowing them to log on quickly. This is often not the case for us and in fact, since we all usually use the computer each day at some point, more often than not it's actually a different person waking it. If it's a different person using it this time, he/she has to click "Switch User" button t... Read more

A:Unsleep straight to switch user screen

Try the modern Hibernate function which is perfected in Win7 andd may solve the issue for you since it does everything sleep does but writes the desktop to the HD (instead of just RAM) and shuts down the PC. But it starts up twice as fast to the Log-In page.

If fingerprint reader bothers you, turn it off and use strong passwords.

I went to the service center and theyput two sided tape to stick it.  I came back home and the camera section was overheating and the gap appeared again. I don't know if they can fix it or not. I just got my Y530 delivered, and one of the first things I noticed is the weird backslash key and how it's in the same "key compartment" as the Enter key. It also has an extra long white underside. Maybe this is an extraordinarily stupid question, but what's the deal with this? Is it supposed to be like that?
