I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi all,Would a keyboard made for an X270 (FRU: 01EP062) be backwards-compatible with an X240? When I do a parts lookup, it just says that it is a keyboard, and doesn't list compatibility. I've noticed that many off-brand keyboards are being sold on Amazon with cross-device compatibility. Thanks!

Hello Lenovo experts - Does anyone have issues with screen resolution when connecting X270 /Windows 10 to an external monitor. Seems like with some Windows 10 updates (for e.g. when updating to OS build 16299.1029 / version 1709), there is a change in screen resolution (for the worse). I am unable to set some external monitors at maximum screen resolution. On one of my external monitors, although the screen is set to the highest resolution, the display is not very sharp. Also, I read on some discussion threads that MS Outlook had an option to change 'display settings' - I had this in an earlier Win 10 update but with the new Win 10 and Outlook update, this option has disappeared. I am wondering if this has anything to do with the poor screen resolutions.  Thanks for any pointers!

Hello, I have a Thinkpad x270 laptop running Windows 10.Laptop is connected to external DELL P2719H monitor through HDMI cable. Resolution is Full HD. I am using wireless keyboard and mouse.I have updated all the drivers in 2 steps - first, I did "Windows Updates", and then, second, I went through all devices in "Device Manager" in order to update all the remaining drivers.  Problem is the following -  my display has flickering issues. Generally it happens when I move the mouse. You can see this on the video below. Flickering on the video bellow happens when I go over the small video built-in into the website. This happens couple of times per day. I thought that it might be caused by wireless mouse or HDMI cable or Display, but my testing showed thata) similar flickering issues sometimes happen with mouse turned OFF and disconnected from the laptop andb) I don't experience such issues with the same HDMI cable, same DELL P2719H display, but with different laptop running Windows 7. So I think it might be caused by x270 or Windows 10 problems. What are your thoughts? What troubleshooting steps could be made?

I will be buying a HD monitor may be 1920x1200 or 1920x1080 resolution. I finalized Samsung P2350, if it is not available then I shall go for 2233SW 22". I wanted to buy a Dell one, but the customer care center of Dell told that only 19" monitor is in stock :!: So opted for Samsung.
I have a old system of intel P4 1.7 GHZ with 384MB DDR RAM. Mobo: 845GLAD. No exernal graphics card, only inbuilt one.(I shall be upgrading my system shortly). So I want to know that if the monitor will compatible with my old system, will it run at full resolution (can not run any high end game with the system so no question of playing though. Will not watch any HD movies until full upgradation of system.) Just simply run it at native resolution of the monitor. Will inbuilt graphics card be able to handle the resolution??
Please answer it..thanx in advance.....

I'm not the sharpest tool in the shed. Having said that... I was given a teal-colored Power Mac G3 circa 1998, original specs: 400MHZ, 1MB cache, 128 MB SDRAM, 6GB HD, DVD, ZIP drive. A relative's IT person at a major university supposedly upgraded this CPU to a current Mac operating system (a recent version of OSX). I then purchased an Apple 17 in. Studio Display monitor (circa 2000) from eBay. The male Apple display connector has a different configuration than the female monitor port on the CPU. I believe that the port on the CPU, which is labelled with the number "one", is a VGA port, with three horizontal rows of 5 holes for a total of 15 holes (please bear with me!). The male end on the ADC is much more oblong, has 30 pins, and on one side of the pins it features a horizontal protrubing piece of metal which has two pins above and below it (this is my best description). I have seen ADC to VGA adaptors on the market, and I'd like to know if one of these would solve my problem of connectivity? Any help would be terrific (aside from being told to go jump in a lake). Thank you in advance!

A:Monitor & CPU compatibility... help (please)!

ok, so i'm guessing one looks like this:
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/d/d5/DVI_Connector.jpg

and the other looks like this:
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/9/92/SVGA_port.jpg/800px-SVGA_port.jpg

right?

if that's the case, a simple converter *should* fix that. they're not too expensive.

the "weird" looking plug is called a DVI port. the other 15 pin one shoudl be a standard VGA port. you should be shopping for something like this:
http://www.cablestogo.com/product.asp?cat_id=110&sku=26957

along with that you can get a standard female-male vga cord so it goes DVI port, adapter, VGA cord, VGA port.

hope that helps

The monitor on my HP Pavilion a1720n has gone bad. I was shopping for a low-end replacement and found one that looked good for my low-tech purposes: an HP S2031. It depends on the exact video system. But generally UHD or 4K 3840 x 2160 can only be driven from a displayport and not HDMI. But HDMI 2.0 can do 4k resolution. So in order to answer we need a specific model number to see if it has DP or HDMI 2.0 and which video card it has installed to be sure it is capable of 4K output.

Hi,
I have two Apple monitors and I do not know if they work. The plug on the cables is 15 pin but it is the large type plug and won't work on my computer. I asked the guy that sold me my computer about it and told him that there was a connector/adaptor that goes from the large 15 pin to the small 15 pin, but he says it still will not work because of "frequencies". Is this true?
Is my only answer to buy an adaptor and try it?

I have multiple offices that i work from. My ideal setup is to work from a desk with a large monitor, keyboard, speakers and printer but carry my laptop from location to location. I chose the P27h monitor because it has USB-C connectivity. My understanding when I purchased this monitor and computer setup was that I could place my closed computer in a vertical stand, connected to power and usb-c to the monitor, and use the monitor as a hub to run a few other peripherals. At most, this is a wireless mouse and keyboard (logi), a set of powered desktop speakers, and in some cases a printer. Essentially, I thought I had a dock and monitor all in one.  I seem to have issues at start up, and intermittent freezing/latency issues during usage. At startup, if the monitor has been left on it has issues connecting the video. In other words, my peripherals will work, but even with the laptop open sometimes I can't extend my monitor. I have the proper power settings (i believe) to close my laptop and continue to run. This works on one of my monitors but not on the other. Depending on which monitor I'm plugging into, I get different results as to whether the video works and how i get it to work. Once working, it functions well but there are freezing issues that I don't think are a function of the computer.  Am I asking too much of the P27H monitor? Hi all,

We have a Dell Vostro 3700 laptop and we would like to replace the screen. It was originally fitted with a 1600x900 screen, but we would like to replace it with a 1920x1080 screen. Would this be possible?

Ser vi ce Ta g: 4GHR5N1

Some links to those screens: 1920x1080 screens and 1600x900 screens.

You also might be interested in how we ended up with a broken monitor:
a few months ago my father did the most stupid thing since he started carrying computers with him to work. It was a monday morning of course, 6:00. By accident he put the laptop (in it's bag) against the weel of his car and then rode of, with the rear wheel straight over his computer.
The computer was curved, the monitor assembly dented and the right side (with the disk reader) had a serious Z-curve, aside from also being quite a bit flatter.
Luckily the motherboard wasn't damaged. I downloaded the service manual, threw the computer open, bended the parts back in shape with some force and gave them some volume again. I removed the monitor and connected the pc to an external screen and now it's running fine again, with all the electronics working (including the DVD player), except the screen, which I didn't even test as the fluid flows freely around inside.
Long story short: Dell computers are well made!

It's working fine now but we would like to use it again as a laptop, so that's why we were looking for a replacement screen.

Hello,

I recently had issues with my PSU and rather than play guesswork on whether its still functional, I rather just replace it.

My motherboard is a m3n78-pro. Its a bit dated but I'd like for this pc to last another 6 months before I build an entirely new rig. If I read the manual correctly, it requires ATX 12V V2.0.

The PSU I'd like to change to (since it just has to last another 6 months) this 900 w PSU. Would the m3n78-pro be compatible with this PSU? One concern I had was that the m3n78-pro requires a 4 pin ATX +12v connector. If I read the PSU's specifications correctly it has one 12V 8-pin (4 + 4) CPU power connector. Is that 8-pin two separate power connector, ie do I just use 1 of the connectors to fit into the 4 pin ATX +12v connector?

Please excuse my noobishness but what exactly does the v2.92 Motherboard specification entail? I tried to google it, but got less useful information and product results from newegg.

Also I read the wiki on the ATX 12V V2.X standard, but it didn't answer my question - is ATX12V v2.3 backwards compatible with the ATX12V v2.0 standard?
Thank you very much for any help you can give.

I need some advice about the displays for the x270 ? is the HD display on the x270 an IPS? I didn?t find this info here https://www3.lenovo.com/us/en/laptops/thinkpad/thinkpad-x/ThinkPad-X270/p/20HNCTO1WWENUS0/customize?...! My current x240 with has HD resolution (I can?t tell if it?s IPS or not) model 20ALCTO1WW ? I?m considering replacing it with the x270.I?ve heard good things about the FHD display but I?m concerned that with the FHD panel my font size will be too tiny for my 50+ year old eyes in its native resolution. I?ve heard that scaling the display results in suboptimal rendering/quality of text/fonts. Has anyone looked at both versions of the display? How do they compare? I?ll be using the system for mostly coding/writing and perhaps watching some videos. No Graphics or PS intensive work. Might hook it up to the tv from time to time (not that often) The display on the x240 isn?t the greatest (could be brighter for sure) but it works fine, so I could probably do fine with the same type for the x270 ? or is there something that I ought to consider? Thanks! PS: FWIW, I?m planning to get the i5-7300 model with 16 GB RAM and the 500 GB drive (that I plan to replace with a standard SSD 500 GB or 1TB drive ? hopefully not a problem).

Hi, I am thinking to buy a thinkpad x270 with 3 yrs IWS because I am traveling a lot to China and Hong Kong.I am wondering how do I get the IWS when I place my order on line and if the IWS will be accepted in China and Hong Kong. Thanks.

Hi, I bought the think pad notebook in August 2017 . There have been problems with the notebook and I need to bring it the service centre twice. The first time is about the hardisk and this time I just don't know why I cannot turn it on. I have to leave it for two days at the service centre again. I am totally disappointed with Lenovo product as it has brought me much trouble and waste my time! I would try to share my bad experience as many people as possible!

Hello, I just got an x270 and want to upgrade the HDD to a large spinning disc. The specifications sheet says the computer takes 7mm thick 2.5" drives. https://psref.lenovo.com/syspool/Sys/PDF/ThinkPad/ThinkPad%20X270/ThinkPad_X270_Platform_Specificati... I opened the computer and put a 9.5mm drive in the plastic drive holder and it fits perfectly.  Is there any reason I can't use a 9.5mm drive in this computer?
