I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

The subject pretty much explains it. I'm running Windows Education 10, Fall Creators Update, on the Yoga 720, 15" w/ the Nvidia GPU. "Tool for Lenovo System Update" is always there in the task manager, and the fan runs frequently. Any idea how I can make it stop taking so many resources and generating excess heat / killing battery?

In the past, I have been able to receive the latest updates via Lenovo Companion > System Update (while occasionally accessing the actual System Update program). But lately when I access both System Update - the actual program - as well as the System Update option via Lenovo Companion, I am greeted with the following error message after loading at around 15% (or after not loading at all): "The System Update Server is currently unavailable. Please try again later." Is there a solution for this issue? I would appreciate assistance on this problem. I am currently a Windows 10 Home (Build Version 1703) user with a Lenovo Companion at Version 3.73.1.0. The last time I have checked my ThinkPad T450s for updates was yesterday at 10:40am HKT (Hong Kong Time) and the last time I made any updates to my computer was on May 31st at 10:37am HKT.

Hello, In our organization we have a VPN client that is sensative to driver versions.  We have noticed Lenovo System Update is only updating the Lenovo T470 Wireless-AC 8265 drivers to a certain point and has stopped.  That we could tell there did seem to be a problem as previously there was a rapid succession of updates for our T470's and the wireless NICs to a certain point.T470 - 20HES09L00 Would it be possible to have this driver updated? 2018/09/03 - v20.70.3.3 - Lenovo2019/03/06 - v20.120.1.1 - Intel  Thank you,Tony H.

I noticed this apparent divergence on my T480, so I manually installed thev20.120.1.1 driver direct from the  Intel site. When it got done installing, Device manager (Windows 10 Pro 64-bit) reported that I STILL was using the same version as offered by Lenovo:  v20.70.3.3 - Lenovo

I'm keen to always keep up-to-date on all drivers/firmware on all of my machines.  I just picked up this notebook on cyber monday and let all the automatic updates go on and noticed that bios is currently 1.2.0 while 1.2.4 is available.  When I try to install it, I get a "Running on an unsupported system" message.  I went and downloaded each of the other bios(1.2.1 etc) to see if it required the previous one to upgrade from, but even 1.2.1 gives me the same error.
The service tag is correct for the download page(at least looking at system configuration everything is what I purchased).  What can I do to get current?  Considering "system stability" is the primary listing for the bios updates, I kind of want them.
Apparently, there will be a new update on 1/2/2018, but I'm going to have to assume it'll have the same issue since all of the updates give the same error.

Oh, and of course, I did run the "40 min" diagnostic test with zero problems.

I have had my Dell 8700 for little over a year and have had problems from the beginning.  I am 72 years old, and I am at my wits end!!!

A hard drive was replaced in the summer of 2015, but I have still had problems with the computer shutting down and my having to refresh it to factory setting.

I thought updating to Windows 10 would solve some problems, and I did this in October, 2015.  Everything was fine until a couple of months ago.  The end result was when I tried to refresh the computer to factory defaults, it went back to 8.0 or 8.1, and I evidently lost something in the process.
Now, I cannot update to Windows 10 and when I tried to resinstall the Dell Operating System, I get for both:  "WE COULDN'T UPDATE THE SYSTEM RESERVED PARTITION."
I DO HAVE A SYSTEM BACKUP ON 20 CDS (MADE WHEN I HAD WINDOWS 10).  Could I reinstall the system with these backupdisks?  How do I do that?  I also have a Dell 2 Boot USP stick, I have a recovery stick, too, but it semed that when I used this, I received a message that not all files were recovered
What should I do at this point?

A:Error message when trying to update to Windows 10 or to reinstall operating system 8.1: We couldn't update the system reserved partition."

On MBR disk, Windows 10 requires a 500MB system reserved partition, while 100MB in Windows 7, so you can try to extend system reserved partition.
In disk management, you can only extend partition using the unallocated space next to its right side. so even if you shrink D: drive, the option to extend the efi partition is still grayed out. My suggestion is to use a third party software, AOMEI Partition Assistant, both the standard (free) or the Professional(paid) version can extend partition as long as there is unallocated space on that hard drive. to see more information read:

It went through fine, and after the sucess information i was prompted to restart the OS.After 30 minutes, the server was still in System State = running in uefi mode. When i checked back to the server management -> Server firmware rab, it said UEFI Primary, Status pending, Version 2.31.Then i "powered off" the server, and restarted it 5 minutes later. All status boxes are green, but system status is still in "system running in UEFI " Mode, it wont start with the OS (VMware) Does anyone have an idea how to fix the problem. The Server also has a secondary bank with the old bios version  1.01 , how can i switch back to this backup BIOS? Many thanks in advance, i am getting a bit desperate here. This is not a question, but really a suggestion to all of you who are about to update your BIOS. Lenovo released a new BIOS version for Lenovo Yoga 720 15 inches (BIOS Update - 10 [64] - V.4MCN24WW. This update brought back fan noise and frequently operation like it was before the BIOS update (BIOS Update - 10 [64] - V.4CN23W).  So the 24th version of the update is running fans as loud as the 22nd version. No good. If you know how to fix this problem then please let me know. Please do not update your BIOS because it brings back loud fan noise. I am hoping the fan issue thing will be fixed. The reason I did not want to purchase Lenovo Yoga model because they have been notoriously known for fan noise. The problem that was fixed with the 23 version of the BIOS update seems to be back with the 24 version.

I upgraded to Windows 10 on my ThinkPad Twist. After that, I ran Lenovo's System Update and downloaded and installed all the recommended updates. Now when I reboot I get a message saying that C:\Program Files (X86)\Thinkpad\Utilities\PWMTR64V.dll is missing. Searching the Lenovo support site for this DLL file name shows that it is related to Windows 7 Power Management. However, one of the updates from Lenovo was Power Management for Windows 10. I am hesitant to install the Power Management update for Windows 7 (which I'm guessing will solve my missing DLL problem, but maybe not) after installing such an update specific to Windows 10. But I don't want to have to have that popup message about a missing DLL every time I boot. Anyone know how I can resolved this?

A:Missing DLL after Lenovo System Update

I have a T540p (x64) and am also getting the PWMTR64V.dll that started fairly recently. It's also been updated to Windows 10 (last year), and like you, given the fix apparently relates to a Windows 7 process, I'm reluctant to update/install it. I went to the pages suggested by the original solution, but both throw 404s. Not real sure where to go with this either, and on the assumption it's a bogus error for this OS/machine, I'd just as soon like to have it stop prompting if possible. elaine

Hello! I'm a bit new to GPOs and working on the server so please forgive misleading terms if I mention something that's not quite correct, but I'm trying to configure Lenovo System Update to run automatically in the background, with very little user input. We want the laptops to just grab updates directly from Lenovo so they get the latest and greatest. So when I move the ADM to the directory, this error pops up. I've been doing some research online before posting this query, but I haven't found anything that I understand that points me at a possible solution. If any of you out there in Lenovo Forum land know what I might do to fix this, I'd appreciate it! Thanks!

Lenovo Security Advisory: LEN-2015-011
Potential Impact: Execution of arbitrary code
Severity: Medium

Summary:
Multiple vulnerabilities have been identified within Lenovo System Update (previously known as ThinkVantage System Update). Lenovo has released a new version of the Lenovo System Update software that addresses these vulnerabilities.

Description:
Lenovo System Update validates all system update files as they are downloaded from the Lenovo servers. However, if the local system contains malware, it is possible that the downloaded updates could be altered before installation creating a race condition. The latest Lenovo System Update release eliminates this possibility. Lenovo System Update uses a service called SUService.exe to run system updates. As part of the authentication and validation process the service only accepts commands if a valid security token is passed along with the command. Vulnerabilities were discovered on how the security tokens were generated allowing an attacker to run commands. The latest Lenovo System Update release fixes the token authentication flaws.
Other security issues were also addressed in this update.
Mitigation Strategy for Customers (what you should do to protect yourself):
Starting from April 1, 2015, run Lenovo System Update and install the latest version of the application, version 5.06.0034 or later. You can determine the currently installed version by opening Lenovo System Update, clicking on the green question mark in the ... Read more

Lenovo Vantage has a selecton for system update and I have been using that. Today, out of the blue, a stand-alone application called "Lenovo System Update" was installed. Why? What does it get me that I don't already have as part of Lenovo Vantage? What happens if I uninstall it?There is one update that it says can't be installed: Intel Graphics Driver. I am offerd the option of installing it manually. I am reluctant to do that: If Lenovo Update can't install it, how can I do better? The Lenovo Vantage update process also will not install it but does not give me the manual option.ASSIDE: The interface is confusing. Selecting "Next" does not do an install. I have to first select "download." If that's the next step, why doesn't "next" get me there? ASSIDE #2: The above has a numbered list but after I post that formatting is gone. When re-editing it shows as a numbered list (good) but after posting it does not (bad).

Since you have to hunt around different Lenovo sites (and other sites) to find out about these softwares, I decided to make a post to get feedback from actual Yoga owners on how these programs interact, what they do, which ones are prerequisite, and which ones are unnecessary. Please don't take this as a blanket answer. This is just what I have found. It might be right - it might be wrong. I'm looking for others to post their experiences as well. Lenovo System Interface Foundation Driver - Necessary prerequisite (missing driver in device manager without it). It allows the Lenovo Utility and Lenovo Companion to work. Lenovo Yoga Mode Control - Necessary if you want to use your yoga to seemlessly change between all the different modes (laptop, tablet, tent, stand). This software is responsible for autorotating and putting Windows into tablet mode. Lenovo Utility - Recommended(?) This one I'm not too sure on. I remember that I was missing some function that I wanted but I can't remember what it was now. Maybe battery cycle count and health? Lenovo Companion - I don't have this one installed and don't think it's necessary but would like someone else to shed some light here.

I have been running WindowsXP/Microsoft Office 2002 for nearly twenty months without problem.

Today, when opening individual files in Word/Excel format, the following dialogue boxes are displayed: "Preparing to install" is first displayed, followed by "Please wait whilst Windows configures Microsoft Office XP Professional" with an incremental loading bar L to R followed by "The feature you are trying to use is on a CD-Rom which is not available. Install the Microsoft Office XP Professional Disc and click OK". The latter box offers OK/Cancel/Browse. When I click Cancel (because the subject programs are already loaded onto my computer and have been running successfully for twenty months)
I get "Error 1706. Set-up cannot find the required files. Check your connection to the nextwork or CD-Rom Drive. Is there any solution to constant system failure to a level where the blue screen turns up and laptop can't be even turned on, after every system update?

I've checked the drivers and everything, but since the big update pack somewhere in March every update ends up in system failure. And the restore points before the updates are useless, because system doesn't recognize them.

After the second time this has happened and I've lost all the files that has not been backed up on hard drive I really start to think is there something wrong to Lenovo and Windows 7 combination?

I almost start to regret that I have legal version with update option.

Please attach the DMP files to your next post not to post one.

If you are overclocking STOP

You may be able to get the DMP files without crashing by booting into safe mode (F8) with networking.
