Preferred Solution: So uhh...my discord won't install

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi, I just bought a laptop and I was trying to install Discord and I got a error. When I opened up the setup logs this is what it says:
WRN: Assembly binding logging is turned OFF.
To enable assembly bind failure logging, set the registry value [HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Fusion!EnableLog] (DWORD) to 1.
Note: There is some performance penalty associated with assembly bind failure logging.
To turn this feature off, remove the registry value [HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Fusion!EnableLog].
Does anyone know how to fix it?

Over the past few months I've periodically been hounded to try either Kik or Discord as a secondary means of communication between my online friends. However no offense to them intended, but I just don't trust anyone enough to use anything I thought was similar to Skype or social media. After finally researching them though I actually can't find anything wrong with. Apparently Discord is DDOS proof & Kik doesn't expose any personally identifiable information either, claiming to be a very secure messaging app. Although I know malicious attachments embedded within pics, videos or links could possibly be sent with either, here are my questions about that & more.

1: Is Discord or Kik really DDOS proof & how exactly do they go about hiding your IP when Skype still doesn't?

2: Is there a setting within Discord or Kik to automatically block images, videos, links or any other specified attachment yet still use the text & voice chat?

3: Are there any other security & privacy vulnerabilities with either app that I should be aware of before using?

A:Kik VS Discord Or Neither?

Discord has pretty poor stability and its application is literally a Chromium frame of the web client with a few extra features. Plus it isn't 100% end-to-end encrypted - servers are also just centralised, not actual servers that you install to your computer, which brings confusion. I really dislike Discord as a platform, it will disappear in some years just like every other proprietary trendy IM/VoIP service has done so. I have to use it because everyone I know is way too stubborn to try IRC or XMPP. Cannot say anything for Kik.

Here is my issue: I use the desktop app for Discord primarily. (Yes, I have Win 10, which was not a download but came pre-installed on my laptop.) I haven't had any issues with this until the 28th of April. My comp restarted &, upon trying to load Discord, it said it was installing update 1 of 1. Then it spits out the following error (error is posted below). I tried restarting my comp, but it didn't work. So I uninstalled Discord. But when I went to re-install it, it only got to a certain point & then spit out the same error. So I tried to look online for a solution. I found a video which I followed to delete the localapp folder & stop all the Discords through task manager. I did everything the video said to do except restart Discord because I couldn't. I couldn't even reinstall it. One site told me to pause my antivirus, which is keeping it from updating it said, but I don't know how to do that. So a friend of mine got on TeamViewer with me & tried to fix it. He ended up having to ask his tech support friend & they went through a series of steps to wipe Discord out completely & reinstall it. It worked great!... Until today. My comp decided to restart sometime today. When I loaded up Discord it said it was installing update 1 of 1. I thought 'Oh, no, not again,' but it went through & then said it was installing more updates (9 in total this time, not counting the 1). That went through but then said installing upda... Read more

Heyyo!

So i have recently been having a load of problems with audio in my discord. I am using a behringer soundcard, that i am both using for audio in and audio out.

So the wierd thing with this is that when i have restarted my PC, i go in to discord (and my audio settings) and see audio input from the "Line in" from the behringer soundcard. So, now discord is using the audio device and also blocks all the other sound out. I can't for say listen to music on soundcloud or watch youtube. It has basically taken control over the soundcard completely, and it is first until i go into the task manager and kill discord completely and restart say youtube, that i get audio output from my computer.

And the same with the opposite. When i start up without discord automatically starting, audio is coming out from my pc, but when i then start discord and try to check if audio is coming in from my mic and such, nothing is there. Now discord does not have access to the device.

Honestly, there is many repeating occasions in this so i apologize if i have put it any wrong, but i hope you people understand me here!

Worth notating is that i produce music with Fruity Loops 20, in which i have selected "BEHRINGER USB AUDIO" as my main audio device. I can then in the software use the two audio inputs it offers to record say a guitar or a microphone. Same as how i have used my mic to record, i use it in discord.

The main reason for that soundcard being bought was for the ... Read more

My problem is as follows.

I want to play Tabletop audio which is a soundboard like website.
The issue is that it needs to be real-time action when the I press the button it needs to respond.
The audio should be fed to Discord which is an application like skype.
Also, I don't want feedback when I speak because, with some virtual cables and CheVolume, I managed to feed the audio from the browser to Discord, but when I speak there is an echo.
I used two accounts, one for me as a speaker and one as a bot sort of thing to play the tabletop audio sounds.

We are playing DnD so its important for it to be real-time and tabletop audio is really great for the soundboard.

Hello,

Today my computer blue screened 6 times today. I've had no blue screens since I built my PC more than a year ago (not a single one). But recently its been causing major issues.

Some of the blue screens occurred whilst i had the League of Legends Client, Discord and Chrome open. Some occurred whilst the only thing i had open were Discord and Google Chrome (only tab was Twitch.tv).

All of my drivers are updated: Sound Drivers, Network Drivers, Graphics Drivers, System Drivers, Mouse and Keyboard. (Checked in Device Manager)

I ran a registry check and cleaned all registry errors.
I ran an anti-virus scan. (computer is completely clean.)
I ran an anti-malware scan. (computer is completely clean.)
I then uninstalled malware-bytes.
I ran a memory test (No Errors)
I ran a "sfc /scannow" in cmd.exe. (No integrity violations)

After all of those, it still blue screened.

I have a Blue Yeti Microphone, and it's quality only shows through within recording programs such as Audacity. How come my microphone quality is not the same standard when I talk on Skype, Discord and TeamSpeak? I have the settings modified for these programs so that it is at optimal settings, but the general quality of the microphone isn't heard. Although there is a difference between the quality of the Blue Yeti and my previous microphones, it sounds completely different from recording programs AND how it should sound as a high end microphone.

A:Sound Quality On Skype/Discord (Voice chat systems)

Quality relies on the amount of data throughput. Most chat programs place a priority on speed (ie: low latency) as opposed to quality, so the amount of data used for the audio stream are reduced.

As you noted, the quality of the mic is noticeable over your previous mic. So the mic quality isn't wasted.

A:Solved: XP Install-loops back to install from CD-during setup/install

If you're doing a clean reinstall Windows XP and booting from the disc, the setup/install process will involve 2 restarts.

If you press a key when the
Press any key to boot from CD
command appears during each restart, the setup/install process will start all over again.

Keep your hands off the keyboard during each restart.

Do NOT remove the disc until Windows completely loads after the second restart.

A friend, who is new to computers, came by with an old Compaq Presario Notebook (running Vista) to have me take a look at it and maybe install some software. We decided it might be fun to load up with Ubuntu. I have successfully loaded Ubuntu on other machines before.

So we decided to do a full install- getting rid of Vista completely. Unfortunately the system wouldn't let me load it - it simply hangs 90% through the Ubuntu install. I tried it multiple times using different install CDs- and it hung in same place each time. Of course in the process, Vista was wiped off the machine.

Unable to load Ubuntu, I decided to switch gears and install Window XP (I have an old MS Student version that has never been "activated"). It seemed as if the install is going along fine, until it too finally hangs- saying I don't have a hard drive, or the system can't find the hard drive. I was able to run the system diagnostics on the machine and of course it shows there is NO issues with the hard drive whatsoever.

Now my friend really needs his computer running, and i feel terrible that I screwed it up. If anyone out there knows what the heck might be going on, I can avoid digging up money out of my own pocket to bring it in to a shop to diagnose.

I've been extremely frustrated with both the screen flickering and crashing during sleep issues.  I figured before I buy a laptop from another company that I would at least try a reformat. I was expecting devices to not be fully installed after the reformat but Device Manager does not show any issues.  PC is also running fine besides the fact that the trackpad doesn't right click properly and the resolution is off which probably can be addressed by installing the proper drivers.  What else should I install, though?

A:Yoga 2 Pro - fresh install of Windows 10 - what should we install from Lenovo's download page?

Download/install Lenovo System Interface Foundation for Windows 10 (32-bit, 64-bit)...IdeaPad.... That should install, among other things, Lenovo Vantage (ex-Companion.) Use its System Update function to find drivers/updates, download and install them on your system. You don't have to install everything but if you have "screen flickering and crashing during sleep issues" then I'd make sure to at least get the latest chipset, display, video, power management, etc. drivers.

P.S. If you suspect that particular driver(s) may be causing issues, then install them one at a time to identify which one(s) are bad.

Hi
I have looked through solutions for this issue, but the suggestions don't seem to fix my issue...

I am running Windows 7 SP1 Pro 64-bit on a Dell Optiplex 760, and try to do a clean install of Windows 10, using the ISO file which I downloaded from Microsoft & burnt on to a DVD, and instructions from the tutorial on here, which are very good. I downloaded the correct 64-bit version.

I boot from the DVD, enter my region (UK), and choose custom install, and then my hard drive does not show up on the list of where you would like to install. I have all my USB's unplugged (except keyboard/mouse).

I tried deleting my partions using MiniTool Partition Wizard (bootable DVD), so that the entire disk is unallocated. That didn't fix it. I also tried creating a new partition (NTFS) of the entire drive (to get one Primary NTFS partition). That didn't work. I also tried setting that partition as 'active'. The same.

Before formatting etc, I tried a boot from the Windows 7 install DVD, and the hard drive does show up, unlike the Windows 10 DVD.

Do you think it's an issue with the Windows 10 installer?

I downloaded another version of Win10 from the MS Tech Bench page, but same issue.

After formatting etc, during the Windows 10 boot, I tried another suggestion to open up Command Prompt (Shift + F10), and ran 'diskpart' - and no drives are found. I checked the Bios, and it was there.

So presumably that is the issue. If i ran 'diskpart' with my prior Windows 7 install, diskpart sh... Read more

A:Windows 10 clean install - hard drive doesn't show up before install

Welcome toTenforums, Simon.

I am a little concerned that the Windows 10 setup program on DVD does not have drivers to properly see and interrogate the system on your PC so that the hard drive is visible. It's the second similar case on this forum that I've seen recently. You also seem to be trying to clean install on an empty PC - is this correct, because if you do so It will not activate.

After much to-ing and fro-ing, it was finally possible to *copy the Sources folder from the setup ISO file onto a partition on the hard drive, and run the setup from there, where it wasn't possible to boot from the DVD, even though it worked elsewhere.

If you still have Windows 7 installed (and you should do for Windows 10 activation purposes - if just to obtain a genuine ticket for digital entitlement), and you have the ISO download available, the solution is fairly simple. If you haven't you will need the Windows 7 key to activate the install.

You seem pretty PC savvy so, I'd ask you to follow the bolded instructions from the * in the 5th para above.

Hi

My laptop has two particitions, C and D. C seems to have quite some bad sectors. Ran chkdsk yesterday for whole day and it marked out some bad sectors.

Now when I do fresh install to drive C, installation cannot complete. Once copying from DVD is over, I can pass the "starting windows" screen but then it loads the blue desktop and an error pop up saying windows was not installed successfully and try to restart. But this just keeps going in circles and never finishes.

I also tried to install OS on D, without formatting D, but ended up with the same situation.

What I am trying now is to back up everything on D and redo the disk partitioning and try again.

But because 1) i do not have an OS now and 2) i cannot install windows on C, the only option I have for backing up is using the command line window during the installation to copy files from D to an external usb disk.

I am using "xcopy /S" and that is extremely slow, driver D has 180G of data...

All the other threads about using robocopy etc tools does not apply here because i do not even have an OS.

So my question is if there is any way I can do the copying/backup faster?

Thanks

A:Win7 install - fast copy/backup during install (harddisk failure)

Get Macrium reflect free on the pc your typing this from and have it make a usb recovery disk when it asks you too then boot to it on the laptop with your external drive also plugged in and then have it make an image of the d partition to your external. You can then erase both partitions in the windows installer and make a fresh one. When it is done you can install Reflect on the laptop and then you can mount that image with it for file transfer back. But if your install is failing it might be your disk is just to far gone at this point in which case you should image your data so you have it anyways.

A:Vista SP2 will not Install(error 0x80070002),In Place Upgrade Repair Install

Hello Steven, and welcome to Vista Forums.

With the problems that you are having, I would recommend that you backup anything that you do not want to lose and do a clean install instead. This way you will not have to worry about remnants of your previos installation messing with your new installation. After installing Vista with SP1, I would recommend installing the SP2 also. It may be best to only install a few updates at a time, or one a time for the ones that require a restart, to avoid them possible conflicting with each other during the restart.

Hope this helps,
Shawn

I had a run-in with MS Office 2007 that ended up (my bad I'm sure) necessitating a repair install of Windows 7 (64 bit) after a complete uninstall of Office. The Windows repair went well with the exception of a couple of drivers; easily adjusted.

Then I did a clean install of Office 2007. It sort of went well. Except that every time I try to do something with it (like accessing Visual Basic to put my macros back in), it's telling me - incessantly - that files don't have sufficient permission blah, blah. Well, I'm setting the permissions but it's over and over and feels like every file in "Program Files (x86)/Common Files/Microsoft Shared/..." needs permission attention.

Is there ANY way to avoid doing this over and over and over and...? And could I have avoided this by setting something different in one of the installs?

Sigh.

Thanks as always for the help.

Originally I set it to install and walked away came back hours later so I wasn't at the pc watching things. Anyways I managed to damage some files or something and for whatever reasons i could not figure out how to repair them. The microsoft forum was a bust no even one person tried to help me so I got sick of waiting and deleted the partition on the drive and made a new one and formatted it within the installer loaded from boot of the vista CD. That part went fine and quick. However when arriving at the step where its expanding files it took almost an hour before it spun up the CD and began increasing beyond 0%. From there up to 5% at best increases (avg 3%) then the CD spins down and idles for at least several minutes and then spins up gets a little farther and repeat. Basically the amount of time its just sitting there is probably 20 times or more longer than the time its actually progressing. Why is this? Is it supposed to do that? It seems odd to me that it wouldn't just keep spinning the CD and continuously progressing. Especially on a system with a dual core 3.2 ghz and 2GB of ram installs should zip through no time at all. I'm sure the install will be done before anyone replies but i thought I would check here in case its something I should be concerned about as a possible problem with my system.

HI, I just installed windows 2000 professional onto my computer. Everything works fine except that the resolution is really grainy. On some web sites I cannot even make out what the words are. I found out that when I go into my monitor settings in display properties I am unable to install the drivers for my monitor. Does anybody know a way in which I can get around this.

A:monitor drivers unable to install on fresh windows 2000 install

Are you really referring to the monitor drivers or the Dispay Adapter drivers? The symptoms you describe sound like the latter issue.

Monitor drivers are no big deal to install, and even if you don't, Windows should use compatible plug and play drivers. Still it's a good idea to install them -- but you get them from the Monitor vendor site. You get the Display Adapter drivers from the Display Adaptor vendor's site.

What Display Adapter model do you have? And are they properly installed?

To install a Monitor driver, you download and unzip the .inf file from the Vendor. Then you select "update driver" and browse to the location of the file you unzipped. Once installed your Monitor should be recognized by model number.

Got a used HP printer so tried to install Photosmart software from the internet. When used either the downloaded version or directly from HP web site, on execute/run the program shows message "Extracting" then brings up window to install ATI parental controls software. Tried installing the same software on different computer also running Windows XP SP3 and on a machine running Vista and install accomplished correctly. Have tried scanning with Norton both desktop version and Norton Power Eraser run from the internet that is supposed to scan more completely and neither found any malware or rootkit problems. There is an ATI video card on the computer but we have never installed any parental controls software for it and have no children in the house who need parental controls! When the Norton internet scan ran, it identified 4 files associated with the .NET framework as files that it couldn't identify as either good or bad. Could that make the install program work incorrectly? There don't seem to be any other problems with the computer.

A:HP Photosmart print software install calls ATI parental controls install

Try a CUSTOM install. It should allow you to untick the controls.

Hello guys,

I need help for my new build.

from a fresh install of windows 10 i try to install the drver for my IGPU Intel HD 530. each time i do that i get a BSOD with this message:

VIDEO_TDR_FAILURE igdkmd64.sys
Or sometimes it's
SYSTEM_THREAD_EXEPTION_NOT_HANDELED igdkmd64.sys

i've tried drivers from motherboard manufacturer CD, website and intel and some autodetect driver software .
i always get the same behavior:

the screen start blinking several time ( black screen) before showing the BSOD then reboot and repeat it self.
even the driver downloaded by windows update have the same impact.
i've managed to install it in safe mode but when i restart in normal mode i get the same behavior.
i've tried 2 different monitors, VGA and HDMI , tried with UEFI on/off => same result.
i've tweaked onece the tdr delay to 8 second, but didnt work.

i really need some help here, i'm desperate!

A:Unable to install Intel HD graphics driver on a fresh install of WIN10

The most likely suspect is a bad video chip.

Now it could be a power related problem too, or heat, but if you have used good parts and a cool case and have tried multiple versions of the driver then it starts looking like hardware failure is likely.

Who makes your 550W power supply?

Double check all of your connections.
And you could go into the UEFI/BIOS and reset all defaults - don't do any tweaking until this problem is resolved.
Is that board running the most recent version of the BIOS?

Hello,I'm facing some little problems that a clean install would definately solve them, but I'm afraid that if I install onekey recovery afterwords, it won't be or can't be 100% integrated with the system. There's this novo key on the side that it brings onekey recovery if i shut my laptop and then press it, would it work later after a clean install of windows OS and reinstalling onekey recovery? Is there anything that is really useful by Lenovo that I'm going to miss out on, if i do a clean install? Is there any risks at all?Thank U guys

Hi,

I recently did a clean install of Vista Home Premium x32 and upon completion am unable to connect to the internet. I received the following error: "windows unable to install ethernet controller." Upon accessing Device Manager, I noticed yellow exclamation marks associated with my network controller. I have an Acer Aspire 5536-5224 notebook. Windows could not locate the drivers on the machine and I cannot connect to locate. As a matter of fact, I'm not sure where to begin searching for the driver! Any help you can provide will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

I have a Latitude E6420 running Windows 7. I installed a larger hard drive today and put the original (working) drive in an external USB enclosure. I wanted a clean install of Windows 7 on the new drive so rather than use a drive migration utility I used the Dell Operating System Reinstallation DVD. When it was done I discovered that it didn't install any drivers. The network drivers aren't installed, so I can't download the drivers from the internet, and I don't have the Dell Driver Reinstallation CD.
1) Is there a way to use the Recovery Partition on the old drive (now in the external enclosure) to do a factory fresh install on the new drive?
or (maybe even better)
2) Is there somewhere I can download an .iso file for the second E6420 recovery disk (containing Drivers/Factory-installed Apps?)
or (least desirable)
3) What drivers would I need to download (on another computer) and manually transfer/install to the E6420 via an external USB drive so I can connect over Wifi to download the rest of the drivers directly onto the E6420?
Thanks for your help!

A:Latitude E6420 easiest driver install method after fresh Win 7 install on new hard drive?

Dear jedijunk, Recovery option works only when old hdd it is in laptop. You do not have readily available .iso file with factory installed drivers. Drivers for Latitude E6420 available in dell support site, download them in another computer, then copy to new hdd, then perform installation.
But the easiest & simple method is to fix the old hdd in laptop, use Hiren Boot CD or any other Disk Image Utility, copy the C:\ drive (of old hdd) disk image in another partition of old hdd, then remove old hdd & fix new hdd in laptop, use restore the disk image to new hdd. Hope this info helps you.

A rather nasty virus which was not recognized as such by anything but ASO's Startup/Autorun Manager necessitated a hd format and complete system re-install. I am quite pleased that, on the whole, everything is back up to snuff. All updates have been processed. When I attempt to re-install Windows Media Player 11, however, I repeatedly become frustrated by a "general access denied" error. There is only one user profile on my system and I cannot find/remember how to check and/or set access permissions. If anyone has any suggestions as to how I can manage to get WMP 11 to re-install, I would be extremely grateful. I use this computer in my work as a Sound Technician for a church and at a community theatre. I need to be able to use the features available in WMP 11 which are not found in WMP 10. Thanks in advance!

I would like to install Vista Home Premium 64-bit on my home computer. I currently have Media Center Edition 2005 installed, but want to start from scratch (i.e., NOT upgrade) and install the 64-bit version of Vista Home Premium. I have two questions:

(1) If I buy the retail boxed version of Vista Home Premium, will it contain the 64-bit version in addition to the 32-bit version?

(2) When I pop the DVD into my computer and reboot, what (if anything) do I have to do to get it to install the 64-bit version? Will I be prompted to choose?

Any guidance or experiences would be greatly appreciated!

A:Vista Home Premium Clean install - what do I need to install 64 bit version?

Oh great. I can answer this question (I think lol). I could not find a retail 64 bit version of Vista Home Premium. I had to buy the Vista Ultimate. I originally bought an OEM version of the 64 bit Home premium for $119, (I had all kinds of problems that turned out NOT to be from Vista, but that is another story). I exchanged it for the Ultimate retail version which came with Microsoft support. I have recieved better "support' from this website than the official MS support BTW. Anyways........

The Ultimate version of Vista came with 2 installation discs, one the 32 bit version and one the 64 bit version. I popped the 64 bit version disc in and it installed 64 bit Vista on my computer with no additional prompts. While I was unable to find the 64 bit RETAIL version of Home Premium, I'm sure that if you do, it will only contain the 64 bit version on the disc. While I was kind of hacked off to pay much more for the Ultimate than I was anticipating, I like the additional features. Hope this helps.

I need to install my sound driver. I've been getting help from someone, and this was the last instruction he gave me in order to get my audio working again. To sum it up I had a virus which completely disabled my system, so I had to reinstall Wins XP, this was a custom built computer so a friend had to open it to find model numbers for motherboard. Was able to get computer working again, but no sound now. I ran all the Wins updates too. I downloaded the ASUS P4P8XSE audio driver at driverstock.com. I extracted the files, and then clicked on the install.exe and nothing happens.

I have a Sony RS-220 desktop w/ XP home w/ SP2 & all updates since that's unable to auto install generic device drivers. I discovered this when I tried plugging in a couple different USB flash drives & it would just stop at the found new hardware wizard. Running the wizard w/ "install the software automatically" & also enabling "also search windows updates" returns unable to find device driver. The USB flash drive was the only bang in device manager. Suspecting the behavior extended to more then just USBs/the chipset I uninstalled some unneeded devices (56k modem & 1394) & they also wouldn't auto reinstall. I went to the sony website & strangely Sony doesn't list the chipset available for download w/ the other drivers I downloaded the chipset direct from intel & installed it but that didn't work either. I've tried a new admin user profile, cCleaner registry cleanup, resetting registry permissions w/ subinACL, setting related windows services to automatic, checkdisk /r. Another thing I thought about doing was uninstalling the PCI controller, but I think I recall that can get ugly. Hey,

I bought a copy of XIII, a budget-box type thing, distributed by a company called 'MAD.' The game's on DVD Rom. When I install it, it gets about a half-way through, but then goes quiet and a message pops up:

'Delete all configuration and saved game files? Answering YES will delete the XIII install folder and all its contents)'

That looks sort-of like an uninstall message t'me. And whether I click yes or no, the embryonic game files in their Ubisoft folder all dissapear. I'd be grateful for any help in remedying this!

(I stuck this emssage here as well as the gaming forum 'cos I wasn't sure if it was the game, or maybe some winXP thing. Thanks again!)

Shearwater,

Did you install XIII in its own new folder? Or in a folder containing other games?

If it installs in a new folder of its own name, it should complete the installation, unless, like many Windows programs it requires you to shutdown all Windows applications - if it does, then shut them down before you install.

The catch22 with running other Windows applications is that there might be a conflict with what the new program is trying to install in terms of libraries - i.e. dll files which are loaded in memory and in use.

Thank you in advance for any help, here is the situation, so bear with me. I have two computers, one I use for gaming, the other for school. Both computers had 60gb Maxtor (school with lots of room, gaming with about 10 gb free). My school HD took a powder (the evil clicky noise of doom), but I was able to back up my files prior to that. Me being a quick thinker, I decide to upgrade my gamer puter to a 120gb (don't wanna go too nutso, as I am considering building a much superior computer), and put the good 60 gb in my old Athlon 700. Problem? I cannot get Windows XP Home to complete install on my gamer computer. (Athlon 700 installed just fine with 'good' 60gb).
Gamer Computer: Athlon 1800+, 512MB DDR Ram 2100, KR7A Raid MOBO, GeForce3 Ti 200 (128MB DDR RAM), SB Audigy 2(AGP).

It is a RAID mobo, but i do not use the raid functionality, I did not have a problem before(I have my HD and my 2 roms on ide now). I go through the install steps, and I get to the very very end, where it states you are about to start Windows XP, and then it hangs, and thats it.

I have tried to ensure there are no conflicts, I pulled out my sound card as well as my network card, and 're-seated' my video card and RAM. I have tried looking at using a winxp bootup floppy, booted into safe mode (the only error it detects is the missing RAID, no conflicts detected there). Heck, I even swapped out mouse and keyboard. I tried putting back the good 60gb back in the pc, and reformattin... Read more

I have been trying to do a clean install of windows 7 and I am now getting this message. I have probably done a clean install using the exact same disk 5 times before. I've tried formatting the hard drive and re partitioning. This is a custom build.

The thing that is interesting to me is that I then tried to do a clean install using a vista disk that I have, and I get a similar message.

However I am able to install Xp pro just fine. I've also tried switching out memory as well.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

A couple threads mention adjusting RAID settings in the BIOS but I see nothing regarding RAID in my bios.

Hi all

Half way through the Windows 7 Repair install the monitor drivers seem to have corrupted. The screen works fine up to the Windows logo on a black background, then the screen goes dead.

Everything is still working underneath, key presses seem to affect the hard disk, caps lock works, I can even hibernate with the sleep key, but I can't get Windows running so I can install the monitor drivers (or do anything else).

Repair Install did ask me to uninstall the ATI Catalyst drivers, but the screen worked fine after.

I have tried:Restarting
Typing my Win 7 license key and pressing return
Connecting to an external monitor via HDMI
Booting from a USB and DVD Win7 installer disk and trying the Startup Repair, Restore, installing drivers (I think they only go into memory), etc.
As above but using the DOS prompt, copying fresh copies of the monitor driver files inf/monitor.pnf inf/monitor.inf and sys32/drivers/monitor.sys then rebooting
Trying every option in the BIOS (although nothing was promising - was hoping to turn off PnP but there was no option)
Trying a new repair install by booting from the Win7 disk - it boots, loads fine, but at the compatibility check demands I start Windows then run the installer from within Windows
Is there any way to avoid a fresh Windows install? All I need to do, I think, is install a different video driver, and I have full access to the file system.
