Blue Screen of Death after a few days of running great!!

Q: Blue Screen of Death after a few days of running great!!

I've been experiencing STOP errors that are leaving my PC and a blue screen and forcing me to reboot. They are widely varied.

The latest was the following:

STOP: 0x0000008E (0xC0000005, 0xF43B3128, 0xB9D07CDC, 0x00000000)

Address F43B3128 base at F439B000, DateStamp 4a73694c

A previous one only had:

STOP: 0x000000C5 (0x00000004, 0x00000002, 0x00000001, 0x8054BBB4)

The PC runs fine otherwise...

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks so much!

Preferred Solution: Blue Screen of Death after a few days of running great!!

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Ever since the little patch they did after the release of Patch 4.1, my computer has been constantly giving me BSOD's when I load or play World of Warcraft.

The error is always the same: Bad_Pool_Caller
I wiped my entire computer, reupdated all my drivers and reinstalled windows 7 and wow to try to fix the problem, but no luck. I though the problem was my memory at first, so I did several memory diagnosis tests and tried different sticks of RAM (current using 8g) and they all passed and no errors came up on the windows memory diagnosis tests.

I then thought it was an update / driver issue so I went to the alienware website and re-downloaded all the drivers for my M17 model, and I updated windows about 50 times. I was so confused. But then I realized when trying to redownload wow, that it was only crashing when I loaded the game. I haven't fully finished reinstalling the game yet, I'm about 1.8g away, but every time I bring up the wow launcher about 5 minutes in I get a blue screen with that error. I left my computer running all day today without running WoW and it didn't blue screen, so I've come to the conclusion that the error is with some new settings in WoW that conflict with my computer.

I will provide my system specs and my minidump files below for you techy's to take a look:

Hello all.
First let me apologize for anything I leave out that is a need to know. I am fairly ignorant when it comes to this stuff and any help will be greatly appreciated. About a two months ago I built my first PC, but just here
the past few days I have been getting blue screen crashes that only seem to happen when I exit out of the game "Rust". It is not reproducible as in it only happens every once in a while when I close or alt tab out of rust. I will attach my dump files.
I am not listing all components because I feel rather confident that this is a software issue somewhere. The blue screen reads Reference_by_pointer when it occurs and then windows problem solver lists it as failed due to bug check. How would you like me to
upload my dump files? and how can I resolve this blue screen crash?
Thanks everyone for you help.

I have a Alienware M11X R2 with Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit, and this is the only Operating system this computer has ever run besides Ubuntu which is on a separate partition. I have not modified the hardware aside having Dell/Alienware install an extra 4 gigs of DDR3 ram and a 500GB hard drive and i have the I3 CPU. I had no problems with anything until early last week, up until then everything i threw at the system ran fine.

The OS was recently reset to factory settings via Alienrespawn, basically my hard drive was formatted and everything was restored and returned to the state it was in when it arrived at my home via a drive image, and i am still having the problem. I am running the most recent driver from Nvidia, and my computer is roughly two months old and i have not abused or treated it poorly.

I am out of ideas on how to fix this, i figured formatting my hard drive and re-installing a bare bones OS state and re-installing the newest drivers after cleaning out all the traces of them with Drive Sweeper would fix the problem but a few random games such as Need For speed World and SD Gundam Capsule Fighter Beta Blue screen anywhere from 5 minutes in to a hour or more in game. What baffles me is i can play Borderlands or GTA4, or even Crisis all day, for more then 8 hours and never see a single blue screen or very very rarely but as soon as i run one of the above games it blue screens very quickly in most cases.

Any help would be appreciated, the files requested are ... Read more

This is rather urgent, and if someone is going to provide me support it needs to be soon since i need this computer for college work which is due this week, and unless someone helps me figure this out soon ill just take things into my own hands again and see if i can make anything change, if that does not work ill just end up calling Dell customer support and see what they can do, i would really rather not do that since, as stated i need this computer for College since i do a lot of Media work in multiple programs and this is the only PC i currently have to do that.

Every night before I go to bed I run a scan on my computer with Windows Defender and Spybot- Search & Destroy. Usually it goes through but the past few weeks I've been getting a blue screen of death while running these and my system restarts. I've tried running these in safe mode and I've tried using other tutorials on this site but nothing has worked. The only things that spybot are coming up with are 7 Vundomonde infections that come up every time I run the scan and then it gets the BSOD before I can fix them. Occasionally it goes through and I'm able to "fix selected problems" but they still come up the next time. I tried installing Malwarebytes - Anti-Malware but it's not working at all, even when I reinstalled it. It installed but doesn't run when I click the icon on my desktop or go to the programs folder. When I run my computer it is sooo slow, even the mouse moves slow, takes forever to load a program, and I get a ton of popups that claim that I can make loads of money on google or that I should download a webffiti toolbar. I've tried tweaking with my IE settings and my Firefox settings (I use firefox as my main browser) to not allow popups and my security level is on high but it doesn't seem to help. The only time my computer works faster is when I turn off my wireless and disconnect from the internet. I have no idea what to do and am at my wits end. I am writing because my ASUS K95VJ laptop (running Windows 8 x64) has recently started blue-screening on a whim. I consider myself to be a very competent PC user, but I confess that this is somewhat outside my area of expertise.
I can't honestly remember what I was doing when the first BSOD occurred five days ago, but I do know for certain that it was the very first BSOD this machine had ever encountered. In need of serious help.*
To begin, I am stupid and haven't backed up any of my files so for now a windows reinstall is out of the question. (unless it's completely necessary) okay, so the problem: I was using my computer as normal. Then while on Google Chrome, it started getting slow and said "not responding" this happens all the time, to everyone so I waited and then the dreaded Blue screen of death appeared. Didn't get a look at what it said because it shut down almost immediately. After that it loaded as normal? Which is weird, I think. But got stuck after startup on the black screen of death. All I have is a cursor. Can't do ctrl+alt+del, can't load any of the safe modes. When I go on startup repair, it says "no restore points" on system restore and "could not detect a problem" on system repair or whatever it's called. There must be something to fix this?! :/ I live in hope that the whole system doesn't need to be wiped clean because as I said, I stupidly haven"t backed up my files.*

Can anyone help?? Please?

this sounds like it should be a BSOD thread, post a seperate thread in the BSOD section following the posting instructions for BSODs, make sure you include the dump files, if you don't know how to do that, it should tell you in the BSOD posting instructions.

Hello everyone.

I have a Toshiba Satellite L450D-13X computer for the kids, and for the price it's a good laptop. Have had no issues with it until two weeks ago when the screen froze for the boys whilst playing a game and downloading a program from the net. Had to do a force shutdown and since then we have a BSoD on every boot-up. This is what we have tried:

On 'Starting Windows' we are given an option of either 'Launch Startup Repair' which ends up as BSoD or 'Start Windows Normally' which reverts back to the 'Starting Windows' option list.
Any attempt to enter 'Safe Mode' results in BSoD.
Attempting to boot an ISO of the Windows Recovery Disk on a USB key (we did highlight it and promote it to the top) results in BSoD. Borrowing a proper Window 7 installation DVD and highlighting this as an option results in BSoD.

In fact, the only option we used that threw up something different was using advanced boot options. On one of these options we got the Blue Screen of Death with the following information:

Disable Bios Memory Options such as caching/shadowing

I don't mind erasing the hard drive and starting again, there's nothing on it that's critical. I'd very, very much appreciate a steer on this. Checked the web for stuff and nothing seems to assist in any other options. I am not particularly tech literate but can follow instructions.

Okay, so two days ago, I installed EA's Origin, then bought and downloaded Mass Effect, Dead Space, and Battlefield 3 because I was about to get the last cable for my video card. I downloaded and installed these games. Then, when I went to restart my computer I get to my bios post screen, then windows starts up, then a quick blue screen, and then a system recovery option finally came about (after the bios stuff again) and after it automatically fixed whatever problems there were. I didn't make a copy of that error report, but I went onto Origin again, and reinstalled Mass Effect, Dead Space, and BF3 as they got uninstalled in the "fix". Then, I restarted my computer again, and got the blue screen again. Then, I had to go to the system recovery after windows couldnt auto fix the problem. And again, my games got uninstalled and everything else I installed after them. So I said forget it. Now, yesterday, my new power cable for my video card in the mail, and while my computer was off, I simply connected the cable (after removing the side panel, of course) and replaced the panel. And booted up. It booted up perfectly fine. Then, I go to the AMD website and get the driver for my video card. Then, it again, restarts due to needing to for the video card, and everything boots FINE. So.. I install the games again... And play them, then this morning (so I know everything is getting proper power otherwise I wouldn't have been playing all day yesterday), I restart... Read more

About 30 seconds after starting chkdsk my screen went blank with no cursor. Appears the monitor is not getting a signal at all because the power light is blinking. Is there anyway at all to get monitor re-activated without powering cpu off? I have no idea of the progress of CHKDSK. I do know it is running because the drive light is blinking intermittently. For the first four hours it was almost solid, but since then it just blinks as I stated above. I would love to just power off the computer and restart, but from everything I've read that would be the last thing I should do. Any help welcome...

With only two days use, I would certainly return it right away rather than try to fix it. It may develop more issues later...after warranty is gone.

I have been having a problem lately where Yahoo Messenger, Internet Explorer, and SVCHost balloon in memory usage and become laggy (but usually not unfunctional) such that, for instance, Yahoo Messenger messages entered with the enter button take about 5 seconds to appear. I think this might be associated with this problem, as my Yahoo was acting mondo slow and the only reason I wasn't attending to that is that I was primarily searching the internet and trying to get a list of things done for my work.

What is this indicative of? I did an internet search and I found some people speaking of video drivers and others speaking of corrupted .exe files. I thought I'd check with you guys first.

None of my anti-malware software is showing any sort of virus activity, also.

Enough **** kissing, and onto the meat:
AMD 3400 64
ASUS K8N mobo (hp garbage)
100 G HD
5 cooling fans
Raidmax 420W PSU (brand-new came with the case)

I swapped a HP a530n over to a raidmax case. I have been using the PC playing BF2/WoW since Saturday without any problems. However, yesterday, something bad happened.

The symptoms: The computer operates normally for sometime (prob 10-30 mins) after it is turned on. Then it the HD will rev up..I mean REV up, and click. This happens a few times, and it reverts to a blue screen. The blue screen states, "Windows has been turned off in order to prevent corruption."

Now I smelled the PSU, and I think I detected a burned electrical smell. I am wondering if it is the el cheapo PSU that came w/ the case, the HD? or maybe a gremlin?

A:RaidMax Case Upgrade/ PC Ran Great for days; now it's going nuts!

Rest assured, that Raidmax is ONE piece of CRAP. The rest should be fine.
Never EVER trust a built-in PSU (except in Antec cases).
Go get a proper PSU from the likes of Enermax, Fortron or Antec. 400W upwards should do fine.

Just today, I turned on my computer and got the blue screen of death, so I restarted my PC. Then a black screen came up saying "Windows could not start beacuse the following file is missing or corrupt : \windows\system32\config\system."

You can attempt to repair this file by putting the winxp cd in etc...

Now when i turn on my computer there is just a black screen showing, with nothing at all on it.

Any ideas anyone?

Thanks very much for your help.

It's a nasty error that requires some persistance and resourcefullness to overcome without a clean install.

If you have a Windows CD or have the recovery console installed, you might want to have a go at these directions.

Hi, thanks for checking my question. I haven't found an answer to my particular situation:

Dell xps m1430 laptop w/vista (32).

It all started with a blue screen w/scrolling text after the fated restart. The blue screen text said "if this is the first time you've seen this message..." and then comp restarted, again showing the blue screen, then restarted into windows repair mode, after repair mode tried to fix the problem comp restarted, then the screen went black / blank right after the little windows loading animation (where the bar keeps moving from left to right and there's a small windows logo).
It all happened fast, so there may have been steps I forgot, but that's the jist of it.

Now screen always goes black / blank during startup after the windows loading animation, so I can't start windows in normal mode.
I can start in safe mode if I manually force shutdown by holding the power button, so I'm not imploding with fear... ok I am.

Possible causes:
1. This occured right after installing 11 vista updates (that restart was when I saw the blue screen)

2. Also occured the restart after running a patch called "Vista TCP/IP and UAC AutoPatch 6.0" I downloaded it from softpedia, the developer was listed as defcon, and their website listed was securevista.net, but the site is down(I found this out after the problem occured). The patch had lots of positive reviews, and lots of people on other sites also suggest using it to re... Read more

Today I booted my computer up to be promoted with a black screen, I gave it a good half an hour before forcing it to shutdown, to which when I booted it back up. Was then promoted with a blue screen about the video card not being able to lead, that happened twice.

I then booted it into safe mode, fiddled around with the drivers to see what was going on, after restarting it again, I got the same black screen, this kept on happening. I then concluded my best solution was to install XP, this worked the video card runs. So the card is not dead, but there are multiple blue lines going down the screen in 4 columns. After going into the device manager I saw that it claimed it was not installed, then I went to Google and downloaded the driver, after installing the computers goes to the same black screen that I got on windows 7.

I have no clue what the problem is, so any help would be most appreciated. Also I tried installing Linux, but after getting though then loading screen of the installer, it goes to the black screen. At the moment in am on my tablet so sorry if there are so many mistakes. I'll try and get some photos of how it looks.

A:Geforce 7300 LE - Blue screen of death - Multiple lines down screen.

Hi Sean,

I don't like to say it, but it sounds like the graphics card is dead. I had the same issue on an old 8800gts, it would work until I installed the drivers, then I would get very bad artifacts/lines down the screen.
I tried it on 2 different PC's with the same end result once the drivers were installed.

I have a Dell Latitude 5175 (Core m5-6Y57, 8GB ram, 256GB SSD) which bluescreens during full screen video playback such as Netflix or Windows media player with a Driver_power_state_failure, it doesn't happen straight away but usually after around 10-15 minutes usage.

I checked the minidump file which suggested the Intel graphics card driver was to blame, I updated that to the latest one from Dell which made no difference, updated the chipset driver, bios and then installed the latest graphics card driver from Intel again with no difference, if anything it's worse now.  The issue also occurs when the tablet is docked or when it's not docked although in normal day to day usage, it seems fine.

I've found references to this problem on some other machines, noticeably the Surface Pro 4's but not really any solution.  The next step is to try a clean build but thought I'd see if there's anything else I can try first.  The machine is out of warranty and while it's always occurred I've just lived with it as I incorrectly through the PC had a three year warranty.

All these types of crashes can happen independently of what I'm doing, It has happened while burning dvds with Nero, scanning with anti-virus, browsing the net, or even while I'm asleep and only the bittorrent client is up. Though, there is one peculiarity I think should be important, there's one program, the VirtualDubMod (build 2540/release), which is used for various kinds of video manipulating jobs, that every time I'm enconding a video with it, there is a crash, and I'm convinced it's not only coincidence, cause I have tried a... I have a computer running Windows 7. Last night the computer was running fine. This morning when I turn it on, i get a black screen. To fix the problem I conducted a system restore. After it finished restoring, the computer restarts and everything worked fine. To make sure if everything was in working order, I restart it again. After the "Starting Windows" screens comes up, I get the Blue Screen of Death. I can't even read what the error says because the computer just restarts itself. I did not connect anything new to the computer. I performed a hardware diagnostics to see if it was a hardware failure but no error was found. I can't even get into safe mode. The SFC.exe will be my next step.

Then check HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run for any funky alphanumeric filenames (I'm pretty sure it's just a random string anyway so posting the string probably won't help you much). ok yesterday my other computer got that dreaded Blue Screen of Death!! So I went ahead and did the Recovery on it. i got it up and running and it seemed to be working fine...But this morning when I checked, it was running slow, something came up saying i didn't have enough memory and i had to reboot and that's when the blue screen came up for like a second ...dont know what's happening.. I went to Safe Mode and am running Norton rightnow just to see if I have any viruses... I just need some help in figuring what the heck is wrong and why the blue screen would come back up. Any assistance will be greatly appreciated.

How much ram/hard drive space does the computer have?

Chances are you were running out of memory and the system crashed, or someone disabled the page file and your system ran out of ram.

The other day my boyfriend was on my computer, shut it down, and now every time I boot it up, it shoots to a blue screen. A friend suggested I hit F8 on boot, hit repair my computer and then type in chkdsk/r in the command prompt. When I do this, it says "chkdsk cannot run b/c the volume is in use by another process. Would you like to schedule this volume to be checked the next time the system restarts?"

No clue where to go from here.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you.
