Q: Systems diagnostics was removed

Help.....I have a HP pavilion & pc Dosctor was removed, can I D/L that off the web or would it be on my recovery disks??

Preferred Solution: Systems diagnostics was removed

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A: Systems diagnostics was removed

Is this what you wanted? You need to download the one according to your computer build date. What is the model of the HP? I don't recall HP having a Diagnostic called PC-Doctor  That was a Kingsoft Utility and I believe is no longer supported. I would not recommend using it. HP has it's own diagnostic utility. It can be reached either tapping Esc at boot on some laptops or by tapping F9 if shown on the boot screen. Later models with UEFI use the F2 key to reach diagnostics.

Hi, this might not be the right section but i'll post here anyway because I can't find a better one.

I had this Hard Drive Diagnostic programme pop up last night telling me there were 11 critical errors on my computer. Being an idiot I thought this was a real Microsoft programme and so I ran the scan and told it to fix the errors. When it started trying to charge me to remove the last 5 errors that's when I finally caught on that it was a virus.

I then used this guide on your website to remove it (thanks): http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:vdv79KBR604J:www.bleepingcomputer.com/virus-removal/remove-hard-drive-diagnostic+how+remove+Hard+Drive+Diagnostic&cd=1&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=uk&source=www.google.co.uk

I think it has now gone but when it ran the scan the first time it deleted about half of my desktop icons (not sure about the actual programmes) and all of my documents and pictures have gone. Is there anyway to recover these lost items? It's not a massive loss if they are lost though because I backed up my important files when the errors started popping up.

A:Hard Drive Diagnostics programme removed but

Hello Diddymow, As you can see the Hard Drive Diagnostic wasn't from Microsoft and I'm happy to hear that you were able to remove it by using the Removal guide here at BC.You are asking about some desktop icons that were removed. If you can post the contents of your Malwarebytes log, it may be possible to see if they were removed as part of the cleaning process with Malwarebytes. To do this, open Malwarebytes and click on the Logs tab. The bottom most log should be the log from your cleaning efforts. What I would like to ask is if you have more than one ( One before the cleaning and one afterwards ) please post both of these in your reply. With both of these logs, we can be certain that your computer has been cleaned of Hard Drive Diagnostic. We may also be able to determine if any of the desktop icons were removed as part of your cleaning efforts. Thanks,

A friend helped me remove the following from my computer
ZeroAccess Rootkit
My router may have also been infected because 2 unknown user accounts were created on my machine, and there were times when multiple users were logged on to the computer.  (I'm the only person who uses this computer.)
My friend believes we managed to remove the worst of it, but advised me to get a more expert opinion regarding any residual artifacts.
Specific things I'm concerned with are:
1.  Removal of the newly created directories the infections caused:  (LocalLow, Roaming, and OICE_15_974FA576_32C1D314_3324) in my AppData directory, and relocation of the folders from my AppData\Local folder that were moved into them.
2.  Verification that all traces of the rogue user accounts have been removed from the registry.
3.  Verification that the Microsoft Security Essentials software and firewall are functioning correctly.
4.  Correction of my user permissions
I have admin rights, but I'm having problems with security settings and being able to run apps and save files outside of my user directory.
Thanks, E.

(Please pardon my redundancy - I have posted this to the Customer Care Board and Client Service forums - just hoping to correct what I hope was an accidental change in support policy.)
This is not a technical comment but it is a comment about Dell's Technology Support. Recently the support site for laptops, and I presume other areas though I have not checked, was revised to change its structure. In the process many items were removed notably having to do with drivers for older systems. Even if a system is past warranty that does not remove the responsibility for Dell to continue to provide the most recent (even if old) drivers especially since the cost of doing so is trivial. This is especially the case when Dell is the only source for specific drivers. A specific example is a Dell Vostro 3700 laptop which uses the embedded GPU in the CPU as well as outboard nVidia GPU; the hybrid video architecture is such that NVidia provides no driver and re-directs users to Dell's site. In the case of this specific model, most of the drivers that were present a month ago are now gone.
Dell laptops have two things going for them - good products at a good price and a great support site. This has prompted me to continue focusing upon Dell - e.g. two new 5759's in 2017, and to recommend Dell to colleagues and friends. I have had recent occasion to review some very old systems on HP's support site - all relevant drivers continue to be available. I strongly recommend that Dell c... Read more

KB3088195 and KB3102939 were removed after installing 2018-05 Security Monthly Quality Rollup for Windows Server 2012 for x64 based Systems (KB4103730). These two removed patches are not listed in WSUS as being superseded, nor in the list of superseded patches
by KB4103730. Was removal of these two patches a fluke or where they left out of the documentation?

Lately, I've heard some people say that the Unix code is more secure than the Windows code and that the Windows code has many holes and bugs in it. Before, I always thought Unix systems (for example, Mac) were less likely to get infected by viruses only because they had a lower market share. However, I'm starting to wonder if the Unix code is really more secure than the Windows code. Is this true? Also, does the Windows code really have that many bugs and holes in it?

A:Are Unix systems more secure than Windows systems?

It is rather debatable, its harder to compare two completely different codes and say one is flawed and one is not.

Though Unix/Linux does appear to be a bit more secure, which is why Apple's OS X (their baby), is based on a unix-code.

I have a home network consisting of a DSL modem hooked to a 4 port router/hub (Linksys BEFSR41). Life has been good with all forms of PCs and OSs including the addition of a wireless data port and a laptop running XP Home. I added a 16 port workgroup hub (Linksys EFAH16Wv2) as the home network grew to 5 systems; 4 running XP Home and 1 running XP Professional.

Recently, I built 10 identical PCs (ASUS P4GE-V mainboards with built in NICs, 1.8 P4s, and 256M ram). I installed XP Home on each machine and all the pertinent XP updates as well as all ASUS driver updates.

All 10 PCs found the internet and are able to surf the web.

My problem is that 3 out of 4 of these new PCSs do not see any of the other systems on the hub or the router/hub. I used 'Home' as my designated workgroup.

I have run and rerun the wizard but these machines cannot see the other machines on the local network. I have tried reinstalling XP but it doesn't seem to help.

I can ping individual machines from the command prompt and they can send a receive packets which leads me to believe that is OS related and not hardware related.

One interesting observation I made is that the new PCs that are able to see the other local machines also have a 'My Network Places' icon displayed in the Start menu while the PCs that cannot see the other local PCs do not have this icon displayed in the Start menu.

I am doing another search of the existing threads although my initial search didn't ... Read more

Got the Anti-virus soft virus more then a couple of weeks ago and was pretty sure I got it all. One of the things it did was attack my Hotmail account and send emails out to everyone in my contact list and my girlfriend got the (something) essentials 2010. I will post about that later on if I have problems. I was going to use the Hirens 10.2 boot disk and see if I could finish it off. I received an email from her with a couple of pictures of the kids. I opened one but not the other. The problem is she didn?t send me the email. Hi guys

Im looking for any computer based diagnostic software or "hardware and software" (similar to vehicle diagnotics)

I have used some software that scans every sensor and any software and data stored on any drive.

but would like something a lot more thorough

such as, software that scans everything such as the voltages on any sensor and any possible piece of hardware,What is being stored and can be "rescued" from any device connected to the said computer/s

and so on.. does anyone know of anything like this?

With all the different Hardware and Software manufacturers out there, and all the make and models of components within all the different computers, you won't find any 1 program capable of reading everything. JA8231 Hello;Allow me to welcome you to the HP forums!Wish I had good news for you, but I don't ... The UEFI diagnostics you refer to are linked to the Win8.1 page for your PC, but NOT to the Win10 page: http://h20565.www2.hp.com/hpsc/swd/public/readIndex?sp4ts.oid=5229456&swLangOid=8&swEnvOid=4158 This could be a simple oversight by HP, in which you could then download and install the diagnostics from the Win8.1 page.  Or, it could more likely be that those do not work in Win10 -- in which you're then out of luck. My suggestion is to try downloading and install them anyway, they might just work.Good Luck

My puter has been giving me error messages that I didn't have enough RAM to open some pages on the internet, so I did what any self respecting gameaholic would do, I went and bought more. I installed 768 SDRAM. And low and behold, I now have lots and lots of memory and no longer get those pesky little messages. However, when I check settings to see the performance of my new memory, it says that I only have 62% of the RAM available. This is with no windows open, I'm not on the internet, nothing. How could this be?..Is there a diagnostics program I can run that will tell me what hog is in my RAM? (no pun intended)...my system is a Windows 98 with a Pentium II. I read extensively on my mb to get the correct memory, so I don't think that is the problem...what the heck could it be?

any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

At Build this year, we gave a sneak preview of a set of new APIs designed to provide diagnostic information about running apps. You can see the videos here and here ? but note that these were based on a pre-release implementation. So, while the Build videos are still correct on broad functionality, the final API names are almost all slightly different. Plus, we added a couple of extra features after Build.

The final versions for the upcoming release are available in the Insider builds from Build 16226, along with the corresponding SDK.

At a high level, these APIs allow an app to:
Enumerate a list of running apps, including UWP apps, Win32 apps, system services and so on.
For each app, get process-specific metrics on:
Memory usage (private commit and working set).
CPU usage.
Disk reads and writes.

For each UWP app, get additional metrics on:
Memory usage (including shared commit) equivalent to the Windows.System.MemoryManager report previously available to an app for its own usage.
State info: running, suspending, suspended, not running.
Energy quota info: under or over.
Enumerate a list of any background tasks that are active for the app, including name, trigger type and entry point.
Enumerate all the processes for the app (using an enhancement to the existing Windows.System.Diagnostics.ProcessDiagnosticInfo class that was previously restricted to an app for its own usage).
The API has a simple hierarchical structure:
The AppDiagnosticInfo type represents a single ... Read more

Hello,   I have an Envy 15t laptop, and the original battery seems to not be functioning properly (the initial charge is quite low and the laptop does not last a long time).  I bought a new battery to remedy this issue, and I was hoping to do a calibration test.  While doing this, I ran into a strange problem.   For some reason, when I try to access the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics (by pressing ESC on bootup, followed by F2), it looks different now than it did before (I don't think it's because of the new battery before though, since I still had the old menu even with the new battery at some point).  The old menu used to be more of a GUI style, something like Figure 9 in the following link: http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03467259 Now though, under HP PC Hardware Diagnostics, it doesn't look like a GUI (it's more text based), and I only have the following options: Memory Test, Hard Drive Check, Language, Exit.  I no longer see a "Components" option, and I certainly cannot access the Battery option from within Components (since the Components option is missing).  Any ideas about why this is the case?  Thank you.

What can i do rectify this. Manuals not very good and i been trying to google it but to no avail..

Hardware= diagnostic card plugs into the parallel port of the laptop powered by the usb port and has a two digit display, Dell c640 laptop
If any one can help or set me straight i be grateful.

A:Diagnostics card

Never had a good experience with diagnostics cards. All the ones I've seen are pretty useless and simply don't work well, if at all. Most moderen PCs has diag cards built in on whether it's beep codes or the diag LCDs on the back of most modern Dells. If the PC is having an over heating issue a diag card isn't gonna help anyway.

To fix a laptop that is over heating you should open the laptop up and blow the dust out of the laptop paying special attention to the heat sinks and fans. While it is open make sure the fans are spinning and that the heatsinks are in place and securly attached.

What are the symptoms the laptop is having any? Maybe it's not just overheating?

I should like to know how many files/folders should appear in the zipped folder that needs be sent to you.
I followed the instructions and expected to see one for every box below "grab all". There are fewer and the progress bar looks to have completed its traverse, but Task Manager shows SFDignostic running and ther is a Success icon there too.

Is SF Diagnostics working OK, has finished its work?

A:Question on SF Diagnostics

It sounds like it has. The number of files depends on how many .dmp files there are, but usually its a minimum of 9 files. This is an alternative to that tool. Try it instead.

I had a post going in the security thread until I realized it wasn't a virus problem... it was a hardware problem. Could anyone give me some advice or possibly a link to a diagnostic tool that would help me solve my problem.

Windows 2k freezes at the splash screen so I can only run my computer in safe mode. This leads me to believe it might not be a critical piece of hardware that's acting up.. maybe? Anyways, I haven't altered any of the hardware recently. This problem just sort of popped out of the blue.

Thanks in advance.

Other than scannow /f is there anything else built into Windows that will run a system check/diagnostics ? I suspect I have created a system that may have some wires crossed as far as performance goes ?

Or..will running a repair install correct/fix any issues in my current installation...and...assuming I do it properly per the tutorial...is there any danger of loosing documents and/or files after the repair isntall ?

Wires crossed? SFC just checks your system files against a copy in stores and compares them.

A repair install will only help if there are damaged files which SFC should pick up.

There is always some danger of losing files/documents so it is always a good idea to backup, have a restore point, and an OS dvd.

If a PC freezes, and nothing you do can bring it out of the freeze where all you can do is force it to shut down so you can re-start it... is there a log in Windows where you can go to see if there is an error code of some kind that can hopefully provide a clue as to why the system froze up?

A:PC Freeze Diagnostics

If anything it would be in your event viewer, but I would guess you will not find anything but "unexpected shutdown"

What are you doing when the PC freezes?

I can't find the WD Data Lifeguard CD download anywhere on their site, only here now: Data Lifeguard Diagnostic For Western Digital Drives

The more direct Download link there I've bookmarked is Western Digital Data Lifeguard CD ISO (extract first). Please advise if there is a reason not to use this link.

What could explain why a major tech company would only offer bootable floppy diagnostics for all of their drives old and new? I mean they literally repeat the floppy download on every single model's Downloads page. Does that strike anyone else to be as mammoth as Support incompetence can get?

A:Where did WD links to CD Diagnostics go?

Hey Greg,

It seems that you have to look up the model number at WD for the drive first before seeing the downloads for Data Lifeguard.WD Support / Downloads / Select Product
Here's an example:

WD Support / Downloads / SATA & SAS / WD VelociRaptor

Hello all,               I have tried to run Lenovo's System Diagnostics and all I see is a message in red telling me that it is running and to wait. Well I waited for an hour and I suspect it was not running at all.I never had to wait this long. Why is this and it is not acceptable?

Hi rjordan393 ,
Welcome to the Community Forums.
Either that the LSC is not ok or it has encountered issue during the test that was not able to verify.
Try to uninstall it from programs and features under control panel and download a fresh updated copy from the support site and see if that would work.
Likewise for differential comparison you can also use similar test software such as this and this .
Update us how things go.

Is there a way to check the health of one's monitor?

When I boot up, the Windows logon screen is very wavy. It is only then that it is wavy. The picture stabilizes immediately after and stays stable. I am using an IBM monitor that is about eight years old. I am thinking that because of its age, this may be a concern.

I would appreciate your opinion.

Thank you.
