Issues With Recording Headset Mic

Q: Issues With Recording Headset Mic

For the past two days, I've been struggling to record commentary for a YouTube video I am making. My Headset works everywhere else just fine, but if I plug it in into my laptop it creates static and so does every other mic. I called HP, and they said there was nothing wrong with the jack since I could hear everything just fine. Sometimes the static is in the files themselves but other times it's just through my headsets. I have no clue what to do. I've looked at every single tutorial thing and tinkered with every little thing. The problem was solved yesterday then I tried to record today and RIP.
I checked, and it says all my drivers are updated.
The headset came with a cable that splits the audio, and I'm thinking of splitting it then splitting it back into the laptop. I really have no clue what else to do.

Thank you in advance.

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Hi.

I have a headset and two computers. Old PC, Acer. Current PC, Cyberpower. Headset, Humlin.

A few days or so ago I plugged my headset into my current PC and it recorded fine and clear. However, the sound suddenly came out the speakers at full volume and it said the headphones jack had been unplugged. It hadn't and it was still in. I twisted it a little and it said plugged back in. I started recording again but had issues with both mic and headphones with the computer telling me they'd been unplugged and plugged back in, but the jacks never moved. Each time the speakers went to full volume. It was fine for a bit and then when I unplugged the jack the speakers went to full volume again.

I plugged the headset into my old computer the other day and it all seemed fine. Did it again a day or two later and it wouldn't record but I had sound. It also took my volume up to full when unplugging the headphones jack, but it's been the one and only time it has done that. Then the next day I could record but had no sound.

I was using the front ports so switched to the back ports and both mic and headphones seemed fine. I recorded what I wanted to today (after double checking mic and headphones, both seemed fine) and then went to listen to the audio on my laptop and there's a really loud constant buzz.

I've plugged my headset back into my current PC and there's no buzz when playing back the recording, but it did say unplugged jack (headphones) and turned... Read more

Hello

So three days ago I wiped all of my drives and installed Windows 10. I have a Corsair Vengenace 2100 headset. I installed the realtek drivers from ASUS download section for my motherboard and then I installed the headset drivers.

The problem is that my headset does not record anything through the microphone if I set it to be the default device for audio output. If I have my other computer speakers as the default output device my microphone works just fine.

This goes for all the USBs in the back of the motherboard. The headset works just great if I plug in the wireless reciever in the front of the computer.

I have tried to reinstall the drivers multiple times and checked a bunch of different settings in the sound manager in windows but nothing seems to work.

Have also googled all kinds of things but nothing seems to relate to my problem.

I do not have any external sound card plugged into my computer.

Thanks for any help provided!

EDIT: Can be closed as I found the win 10 forum after I made the thread. Sorry!

I've searched around a lot about this topic, but after hours and days of searching, I've found nothing to fix my problem. I have a headset that has speakers and a microphone (3.5mm jacks) that work fine, except when I'm trying to talk to someone using the microphone, they can hear the sounds coming from my headset (youtube videos, game sounds etc). I've tried installing the Realtek HD Audio Codec but it disappears after it finishes installing and after I restart (although it still remains in the Programs and Features uninstall page), the program files for it is empty with the exception of RtlUpd64.exe which doesn't do anything when executed and a few other files.
In device manager, the things I have under sound, video and game controllers are Audio Device on High Definition Audio Bus and the Intel Display Audio. I've updated everything to the latest. Also, I recently system restored my computer and before I did I had IDT High Definition Audio Drivers, but after updating they were changed.
I think the problem is that stereo mix is enabled somewhere or something to do with my drivers as when I tried plugging my headset into my brother's computer, it worked fine (he has the Gigabyte Realtek Audio Manager thing and was able to adjust the stereo mix settings).
If there's a program or workaround to this, or how to disable the stereo mix like through registry or something, please let me know.

A:Headset mic recording sounds through headset?

You are correct, that is the usual cause of this problem. And aside from being set in the drivers, it can sometimes be set in the application (used for the communication).

That model does appear to use the IDT High-Definition (HD) Audio chipset. The problem is likely in the fact that you upgraded to Win10 and I don't see that HP supports nor supplies drivers for Win10 (I only see drivers for 7 and 8). Which means you are using generic drives supplied by Windows. The generic Windows drivers often work well enough to get hardware functional, but quite often don't support all hardware or all features of all hardware.

Hello

I'm trying to record some songs (Please do not ask why)
Whenever i try to record, it comes through the headphones which is normal.
The problem now is when i record, Camtasia can't detect the mic has speakers or something
So when i do audio record, it records NOTHING, ( i'm not speaking through mic)
If i move the mic to my speakers, it doesn't record well and sometimes records nothing by static. If i use my original speaker settings (IDT Audio) it records nothing

So i thought that if i disabled my headset, i would hear stuff through my speakers

Now how do i disable my headset WITHOUT pulling off the plug.

I looked through IDT panel everywhere and could not find a way to disconnect the headset.

So how do i disable it without pulling the headset's plug off?

If you can tell me a way to record without disabling the headset at all please tell me.

A:My new headset not recording System Audio Help.

If you want to RECORD you use the PINK mic jack for the microphone part of the headset. The GREEN Jack is the Speaker out (for connecting a headset or speakers).

A computer mic requires +5VDC to operate. Only the PINK mic jack has the +5VDC on the "Ring" connection.

Good day.

I have a very weird problem and I've only found 2 threads about it on the web and they don't really lead to solutions. Here is my Problem...

So one day I'm trying to hook my headset up so that I can talk to fellow gamer's when playing online games, and it came to my conclusion as I was struggling to set the headset up that my mic on the headset is not recording the sound and it is actually my headset's speakers. I don't even understand how this is possible. This is very strange and I would GREATLY appreciate some advise and possibly a solution to this. (I even bought a USB sound card and that's doing the exact same thing)

Thank you sooooo much in advance!!!

I recently bought a Philips SHM7110U/10 headset to hopefully get better audio than my laptop's current microphone while recording with Fraps.

Fraps is currently using my laptop's default microphone, which can be changed by setting another microphone to the default. I read several articles on how to do this, but it turns out my headset does not appear on this list, only my laptop's default microphone.

Here is the recording devices list. The microphone seen in the picture is the built in microphone, which is not what I want to use.

Is there any way to fix this problem? I hope I have explained well enough. Thanks for reading.

PS. The headset is analogue if that helps. The site I bought it from can be found here: Buy Philips SHM7110U/10 3.5mm Stereo Overhead PC Headset and Microphone from our Gaming Headsets range - Tesco.com

A:Headset's microphone is not appearing on the recording devices list.

You should have more than just the microphone. RIGHT click in an empty area in that panel then LEFT click show disabled and disconnected devices. Does the headset mic show up now? Also does the System Mixer (could be called Stereo Mix) show up? If it does, make that the default recording device then whatever input you have should be heard. The System Mixer (or whatever its called in your PC) is also needed if you want to record streaming audio from the Internet.

HI! I'm just new here. I purposely registered to ask about a problem my laptop is having now. I originally have a Vista OS, but it's now XP because of many problems I had with the first one. All thing is good until I was surprised that my laptop, Compaq Presario c700, is not reading my headset. The sound is okay with the laptop's own speaker. And I thought it was only the headset, but now even the microphone jack isn't working. And I really need to do recordings for my project. My sound manager, or what you call it, is Conexant High Definition Audio . I already searched some sites, but I can't still figure out the real answer.

Please..please...please...Help me with this one. I am not that much of a techie..

Hey guys, I made a thread a few years ago about me recording with a Plantronics 380 while using a dolby 5.1 usb soundcard to make the volume louder so people can actually hear me and getting a bit of static issues while recording as heard by the attachment I added with this post.

Now recently at PAX AUS I won a Corsair H2100 wireless headset but whenever I plug it in I get static/snow sounding interference and I have no idea on how to solve it while using corsairs software. They've
told me to send it in as they think it could be a defective product but im doubtful. But if I got a replacement and the same issue occurs I don't think I would be able to sell the headset on something like Ebay.

http://www.gamingcapacity.com/wp-con...com380-911.jpg -Plantronics 380 headset

Any ideas? I would prefer my first issue to be solved first before the corsair if possible thanks

A:Static when recording as well as a new wireless headset "snow" problem

A wireless device is a digital device and its up to the support software, e.g. the Corsair software to amplify or do whatever to the signal. The PC's sound card is not used with digital (the sound card converts analog to digital).

As its wireless, there are possibilities for interference from other wireless devices or even wireless/cell telephones.

e.g. I bought a Logitech Wireless mouse and keyboard. They had interference problems and did not work well. I replaced that with a Microsoft wireless mouse and keyboard, which apparently works on a different frequency and it works OK.

Ok well I am not exactly sure where to post this but since it works well on XP and not Vista I will post it here.

So I went out and bought a headset. Now I have had a couple, but this one is USB so I figured it'll work well. Now then, I use it on XP and I can hear it just fine, everyone else can hear it too. I try it on Vista and it's extremely quiet. I am using Ventrilo to talk to people incase that is needed to be known. So basically I ask, how do I make it more sensative to sound?

Thanks.

I loaded up some Team Fortress 2 on my new build and noticed the sound cuts out after a few seconds of consecutive audio. This happens on all programs now but I've also noticed that when the raw audio (not me turning up and down the volume) is fine when it's loud and when it gets a small bit quiet it cuts out completely. Is this an issue I can resolve in setting or is there something wrong with my headset? By the way, the sound is fine without the headset on the speakers.

I've had the same problem with 2 wireless gaming headsets. The corsair void pro wireless and now the Logitech G533 Wireless. Basically the mic sounds terrible and I know the problem... I just can't fix it. When I am using the headset using it's wireless USB adapter, it defaults the Default Format to 8000 HZ (telephone quality).

The problem is when I try to change this to higher quality format as seen in the next shot:

It throws this prompt and when i select YES it closes the windows and doesn't save the changes. I have closed all applications using audio and still get the problem... Anyone have any ideas? It's been very frustrating!

I am pretty sure there are as many recording issues as there are people with microphones, and I've been searching all day for a solutions to my issues to no avail. Either the people with the microphone issues have something different going on or the thread simply ends with no solution.

So I decided to ask my own questions to you guys. Here goes.

Bought a new headset about three months ago due to a similar problem, and assuming it was an issue with a cheap headset I bought a slightly better built one.

For no reason, my microphone will not work. With the pink plug in all I get is static, with the USB attachment only silence. If I fiddle with the mic boost, the green sound bar (that indicates sound being picked up) will move to match the level of boost (boost = half way, the green bar sits at halfway).

The headphones work find with both the plug and the USB attachment, and the microphone will work in my laptop, just not my PC.

I have Win Vista 64, Realtek HD, and Logitech G330 headset. If you need any more info just ask, I'd love ANY help!

My mate on skype can't hear me talking either, i have to shout in it.
So i wondered if my drivers were the cause of this problem. So i updated them and nothing changed.
I think my soundcard is called VIA P4M890 im not that into Computers so i dont know if this is right. The driver i downloaded had some software called High Definition Audio Deck to manage my soundsettings but these doesnt seem to do anything (When i try to boost my microphone).

My earlier headset was a USB and this new one is with JACK plugs does that make a difference.

Here's the problem I've been having recently;

I use my Headset to talk on Ventrilo. I'm using an HP Desktop PC with Front & Rear Audio connectors. I myself am not getting feedback but, whenever I record with my mic it picks up not only my voice, but any sound my computer makes. By that I mean like, here's the best example of the problem I'm having. If I record my voice while someone else is talking on vent, they can hear themselves REALLY loud. I know it's not an issue with speaker volume (because im not using speakers) and ive tested recording sound with my PC volume all the way down, but when i record, then turn the volume back up and listen, I can still hear the sounds off of my computer. Like its recording the computer sound too.

Evening lads,

I've recently purchased a 'Plantronics Skype-ready Audio 45 USB Stereo PC Headset' - http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0002ZDS4S/202-1788481-0147842?v=glance&n=560798

The headphones work when plugged into the headphone socket on the back of my tower, or when plugged into the headphone socket in my Creative volume control (which comes with some of their more recent audio systems), though the headset came bundled with a USB device which you can plug both headset and mic into, though when I do this sound continues playing on my speakers as opposed to the headphones, despite the fact that I've enabled my computer to automatically detect headphones and switch to them as an audio output. Might this just be down to a dodgy USB socket or device? There was no bundled software with the headset so I imagine that it's not to do with drivers etc.

However, I can cope with this - as I said all I have to do is plug it into the volume control, so no problem (though it would be nice to know why it's not working around the back with the USB if anyone has any clues).

The mic, however, works neither when attached to the USB device, nor when plugged in to the volume control. It does work when plugged in to the microphone socket in the back of the tower, so it's not a problem with the mic per se. I've fiddled around changing various input options, none of which allow it to work with anything except the rear socket. It's a... Read more

I recently purchased a new webcam, and it seems to work fine when using Skype. However, when I try using Windows Movie Maker to make a movie, it doesn't seem to be recording right. When I play back the video the speed is 3 or more times faster than normal. I've tried another video recording program and it's the same issue.

When recording, the time elapsed also seems to be off. That is, rather than showing seconds passed in actual time, it seems to be slow...so 1 second elapsed on screen actually takes 2-3 seconds of real time to record.

The webcam came with no drivers, and I can't find any online.

Does anyone have any ideas what may be causing the issue?

Hello I was wondering if anyone can help me out with my issue.

When using any recording software (Cubase, Pro Tools, Audition, etc.) The armed/recording picks up any audio playing that is on the computer. At first I though it was just the programs, but when I went to see if i could record by using an external method to play the beat (through Windows Media Player) it still picked up the music along with my vocals. So when this happened I knew it had something to do with the playback on the pc. This isnt a headphone issue btw or anything like that, becasue it picks up the music at the exact same quality as it is played. Can someone help me out Please.

I dosent matter what specs I have because it isnt a perfromance issue.
EDIT: other than that I have a RealTek Sound Card

I recently purchased a ASUS G750JX-DB71 laptop, and updated from 8 to 8.1
I am having one problem, most likely user error.
When I record either audio such as yotube, or itunes radio with either Sound Recorder, or Audacity. the playback is very "tinny" (low level, poor quality, very little bass) I also have the same problem with the audio on a screen recording program, Bandicam, when recording youtube, or an MPORG.
I've tried various applications to play the audio/video , with the same result. I'm not recording through the built -in mic, I checked.
An imported audio file, from my Win 7 desktop sounds fine, and an audio file recorded on the laptop, still sounds "tinny", on the desktop.
Does anyone have any ideas ? I'm reasonably sure, it's a setting I need to fix.

A:Audio Recording Issues

There have a few reports of problems with sound in 8.1 and even some recording issues due to drivers needing update. I have a recording studio and see problem posts of needing updated drivers for many recording studio devices. I have a Roland Octa-Capture USB connected recording interface unit and Roland issued an update for 8.1.

Whether this is your problem? Did it work OK before installing 8.1? If it did, reinstall the ASUS supplied driver for your PC.

Have you tried recoring something with the built in mic or a line in, to see how that is?

Hi
Surprise surprise, issues with bluetooth headset.

I've got mine to connect, but when I tried to do it for my partner, all seems to fail. The main issue I have is to make the microphone to work. The laptop seems to be able to recognise, but not use.

Here are some screenshots I took.

This is a screenshot of the bluetooth headset being recognised by her computer as it appears in the bluetooth device settings.

This is a screen shot of the bluetooth recognising the bluetooth microphone in the recording devices menu on my laptop.
This is a screen shot of the same bluetooth headset not being connected to her laptop in the recording devices menu.

If there are any suggestions, please feel free to post.

Thanks

Vince

Are you saying that there is no tab in the power management options? Or is the tab missing from the shutdown box?

Hi, i was wondering if anyone could help.

I recently installed Windows 7 (build 7100), and now am unable to get the mic to work on my headset (Creative Fatal1ty).

I've changed it to the default, but it's just not picking up any sound. Tried it with skype, ventrilo and the speech recognition software and nothing. I've also checked everything is connected correctly and have pretty much run out of ideas.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

You go to creative to get the driver for it?

I bought a Plantronics Backbeat 903 stereo headset with a store brand 100m bluetooth dongle a couple of days ago so I can listen to my computer wirelessly and not disturb my neighbors. The sound is crystal clear, it's light weight and barely noticeable I'm wearing it. So I'm fairly happy so far. There are a couple of drawbacks like the signal fails at times. For instance if I change rooms. The manual for the headset does mention this but I am wondering if another dongle could improve the signal at all.

I don't have a microwave oven (I don't like them), nor a cordless phone. I turned off my mobile as it is connected to my pc with BT. I disconnected my wifi modem. I'm not even sure if Bluetooth has the same interference issues that occurs with wifi. None of that seemed to improve or impair performance anyway.

Does anyone have any ideas as I am just short of being completely, impressively satisfied with it.

The other issues are reconnecting as sometimes I need to turn off and disconnect the dongle to get it working again. But I attribute that to not knowing how to use it properly. I press buttons randomly hoping one will reconnect and I'm pleasantly suprised when it works. It has trouble with speech recognition too but that's another story.

Also (sorry for the length) when I go to Device and Printers it doesn't show up. I'm curious why not.

Will my Thinkpad X-1 Yoga allow me to  use a headset that incorporates a USB port?  Best Buy had no single plug, 4-pole headsets, but sold me a Logitech h390 USB headset saying that it should work.  Waiting to open package until I can verify that this laptop allow the USB connection.  Can anyone provide the answer?   [Am frustrated........my 'older' desktop has dual plugs for a headset]

Good day and welcome to the community.I can't comment on the USB headset question, but if you've got an older, dual-plug headset that you'd like to use, then you might explore getting a combo-jack splitter as described in this KB article: https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Displays-Options-and-Accessories/Microphone-Headset-Jack-splitter-neede...

Hope this helps a bit.Regards.

Hello BIGGD,
Have you configured the mic in the control panel ?.
Go to control panel and open Sound, there you will see a panel that looks like this, highlight the mic you are using and configure.

Also if you are using the mic in a game, you may need to configure the mic in the game sound options, make sure you dont need to press a key to transmit.
Hope some of this helps, Good luck and post your results.

Hello,

I just purchased a Fatal1ty Gaming Headset (jacks, not USB) from newegg.com and for some reason i cant get the mic to work. I've browsed these forums for a few hours now looking for an answer but I cant seem to find anything that works for me. I've feel like I've tried everything. The computer only recognizes the mic build into my computer, which is just picking up white noise from my fan (hence the mic)

My computer is a Macbook Pro 17" (Bootcamped Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit)

Attached is an image of the recording devices pane.

A:Creative Fatal1ty Gaming Headset - Mic Issues

The Stereo Mix should be set as the default recording device (then whatever is plugged in you should hear). When you plug in the headset, does it show the microphone as connected? (or whatever yours states for an active device).

You can click on a device and get another panel which has a volume control for the device.

So I bought a creative fatality HS 800 microphone.

1) I hear sound from my fatality headset just fine but my microphone is not picked up when it's attached to my headset.
2) I can use the internal microphone or the microphone from my old headset just fine.
3) I can use the detachable microphone just fine (meaning if i detach it from the headset I can use it .. and from sound quality I'm quite certain it's not using my internal laptop mic.
4) The microphone does not work when it's connected to my headset however on this computer. There is no sound pickup at all (the bars do not go up on the recording devices tab)
5) The fatality headset mic does work on my friend's computer of which he has a standalone sound card even if it's connected .

I am on a laptop with a realtek integrated sound card (most likely integrated.. not sure... someone wanna give me quick confirmation test?) and the microphone will not work when it's connected to the headset and yes I am sure the "mic on" switch is on from the headset. I am on windows 7 premium 64-bit. Any ideas?

A:Interesting Creative Fatality headset issues.

Does this model Fatal1ty headset require a special port on the PC? I have one of my desktops with an ASRock Z77 Professional Fatal1ty motherboard and it has a special Fatal1y headset port on it.
