I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

This will likely not be answered as it pertains to menus that were intentionally locked by the manufacturer.

Hello Community, now i have an idea about how to unlock the bios for acer aspire e5-521. ive looked it up online and found files for aspire e5-521g now ive been wondering if the unlocked bios would work for my laptop. i have had this laptop for a while now im not worried about damage to the machine i would like to expand my knowlage, also this isnt the fastest computer to game on

A:Unlock Advanced Menu in Bios

No, that is NOT the fastest computer to game on.  Here is a little primer ... E series devices are 'Entry level' products, designed for the casual user who wants to do the basics at a reasonable price.  These models are not targeted at heavy users like gamers, photo editors, video makers, etc.  For big time gaming power, take a look at the Predator line.  Now THAT is a gaming platform!

Hello everyone,So, here is the problem: I accidentally activated Advanced tab in BIOS which hasn't been there before by pressing some random keys just to enter BIOS setup and I don't know which key apart F2 I pressed. Ofcourse the Advanced tab isn't there anymore after changing some stuff that I shouldn't have (disabled Hyper-Threading for some experiments and some other minor options which I want to change back to how it was). I was wondering if anyone knows how to access the Advanced tab in BIOS with a key combination or atleast put me on a good path on how to mod my BIOS (InsydeH20)? Thank you.

I had wanted to change the minimum amount of memory to my intel HD 515 graphics and make some other tweaks for gaming, and I turned off my laptop, pushed the novo button on the side, it booted up and I chose the Bios setup option. I started going through the menus and I HAD an advanced menu which gave me the graphics memory options, it had overclocking options, option to enable NFC, 3D Camera and a bunch of other stuff. I even showed to someone, so I was NOT hallucinating haha. I had decided to reboot and wait so I could google a lot of the options as I didn't understand some of the super-super advanced settings. When I went back to the bios, no advanced menu is present and I can NOT get it back. A lot of stuff says you CAN'T get it, but I DID.  Anyone? Was it some super weird glitch or did I bump the right key combo? I did a google search and have found a few others that have also accidentally done this, including a screenshot of the SAME menu I got from another Lenovo user.

I have a computer that is stuck in a loop and won't boot into normal or safe mode. There is a blue screen flashing up, but way too quick for me to be able to see the STOP code.

The problem I have is that the American Megatrends BIOS 2.51, has an option on the boot screen "Press F8 for BBS Popup". Therefore I can't use the F8 key to get into the Windows XP Advanced Options menu. Why the hell has a BIOS manufacturer hijacked an important Windows key?????

I have also tried pressing the F8 key AFTER the BIOS screen, but even by doing that you still get a boot order list by pressing F8, and not the Advanced Options menu.

Does anyone know how to either:
1. Disable the Press F8 for BBS Popup in the BIOS? (I've looked, so has a workmate, but we can't see it)

2. Is there an alternative to using the F8 key to access the Advanced Options menu?

Hope someone can help.

Hey guys, I recently dumped my BIOS with the "Universal BIOS Backup Toolkit" in search for changing a DVMT value and I noticed something very curious. If you use a program called "UEFITool" to open the BIOS you dump on this laptop, and CTRL+F "DVMT" under text, it will bring you to a section named "PlatformHiiAdvancedDxe". Upon extracting the body of the PE32 image, I noticed that there appears to be a hidden tab in the BIOS named "Advanced" with several useful settings. Hello! I am a happy owner of Lenovo p50, but i got couple of questions. Firstly, Intel Xeon CPU E3-1505M v5 @ 2.80GHz should have a maximum clock speed of 3.7ghz, but thats not the case. The higher i see it goes is ~3.4ghz. I use Piriform Speccy. I tried some CPU stress tests etc, but the result is around 3.4ghz max clock. The Second question is why my bios menu is all greyed and i cannot change any setting. Yesterday i upgraded the BIOS to the latest N1EET60W (1.33 ) and today i tried to visit the BIOS to check some CPU related settings, but i found that almost every setting is locked and i cannot access it. It might be a security mechanism, but before i enter the menu i got promted to scan my fingerprint so i guess that should be it.

Hi zarah,

Try this:
Click the Boot.ini tab and uncheck /Safeboot if it is checked
Click Ok

Then on next reboot, if /Safeboot was checked and is now unchecked, the system should just boot up in Normal mode.

Welcome to TSG---

Try choosing Disable Automatic Restart from that Windows Options menu. That flash of blue should then become a blue screen stop error which hopefully gives more information about the specific error.

Post the blue screen error---word for word please.

Also---any new hardware or software installed recently? Unplug any external devices and try the boot again.

Hello, I have a remote user who has a Lenovo desktop with Windows 10. She is unsure which model it is. Windows fails to load (when windows loads the cursor just spins for hours and never loads). I want her to open the Advanced Boot Menu and run a "repair your computer" before windows start loading and I tell her to hit the f8 key repeatedly. This is not working. What is the key combination for Lenovo computers to get to the Advanced Boot Menu (Safe mode/repair) or is it F8 and just a Windows 10 issue with it booting too fast?

I have a computer that keeps going back to the advanced options menu. So it won't boot to the desktop. Each time I select safe mode, command prompt, last known good config, safe mode with networking or whatever the choice may be it keeps coming back to the advanced options menu.

My strategy is to clean the drive for viruses then see what happens. Then I'll try connecting a known working hard drive to the computer to test whether a hardware malfunction is causing the problem. Then if those steps fail look to reinstall Windows if the hard drive is healthy.

Any advise?

A:Advanced Options Menu ineffective

Yep, your right - AV the drive - pop a new one in and stick an OS on there and then slave the 'old' drive to recover your data - Thats the best thing you can do. Well advised Jones!

What key must I press on my Satellite Pro M70-220 during startup of Win XP, in order to get into the "Advanced Start Menu" - that is, the menu that gives various boot options, such as Safe Mode, Last Good Startup Congiguration, Normal Windows Startup, etc. ?

On my old Satellite 5105-S702 laptop it was the F8 key, but pressing the F8 key on my Pro M70 does not appear to bring up the "Advanced Start Menu".

The Advanced Start Menu came up on its own a couple days ago, after an abnormal shutdown, so it would appear that it does exist on the Pro M70.

Thanks for any advice anyone can offer.

A:Satellite Pro M70-220 - how to start Advanced Boot Menu

The Advanced Boot Menu can be reached pressing the F8 button.
It?s a Windows based menu and it?s no matter what notebook it is.
It should work on all computers.

Maybe you cannot enable the Advanced Boot Menu because the Windows OS is muddled up.

I was surfing the web when a blue screen of death flashed up and my Dell Inspiron E1505 restarted, taking me to the usual Windows Advanced Options Menu -- except now I can't leave. If I don't touch anything, it hovers over 'boot normally' for 30 seconds before freezing. If I go up and hit enter on 'safe mode' it also just freezes and absolutely nothing happens. You see all the options still, but now you can't move up/down w/ the keyboard to re-select. I've tried the different variants: 'safe mode with networking,' 'boot from last good config' etc. Nothing works. I've run the "PSA+ Pre-boot System Assessment" two times (including the extended memory test) and it passes everything / no problems. Then it asks to re-boot, and again it hangs in the same menu without getting anywhere. I can't do a repair/recovery because this is a hand-me-down laptop from my brother, so I don't have any CDs.
