what's the possibility of me grabbing win7 elsewhere?

Q: what's the possibility of me grabbing win7 elsewhere?

i need to get a 32-bit iso of win7, and i keep getting bumped out with this gem:

The webpage athttp://wb.dlservice.microsoft.com/dl...n7-rc-32/enus/ might be temporarily down or it may have moved permanently to a new web address.

could someone allow me the courtesy of moochin off of 'im for the strict purpose of evaulating the OS? i'm sure bill wouldn't mind since he's put it out there for us any how. but i'm getting tired of clicking and clicking only to get that 'error' above shoved in my face each and every time. it seems that no matter how i arrive at that point, i continue to get bushed by the begone bewilder.

Preferred Solution: what's the possibility of me grabbing win7 elsewhere?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I made a flash drive installer with RTM Win7 in 2009, have been using that ever since. As you might guess, this has become untenable in the last year. (Lately most of my installs have been 10, so hadn't realized how bad it was)

Much grumbling about Microsoft not releasing a SP2 for 7, but was surprised and happy to see the "Convenience Rollup" https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3125574. I tried that out a few weeks back, it still took over 48 hours to apply all updates to a new system.

I figured out that I really needed to get the slipstream method going, and worked thru the process at The Last Windows 7 ISO You?ll Ever Need: How to Slipstream the Convenience Rollup That seemed to work, I now have a new installer that nominally updates the new system to April 2016.

Question 1:
To double-check: after a fresh install with this slipstream media, I look in "System" and it says "Service Pack 1". If I look in "Windows Updates" - "Installed Updates", I see the servicing stack update, and the convenience rollup. (KB 3020369 & 3125574). This is what I should see, right?

But the devil is in the details. This system has IE8 installed. Obviously a big security hole. While I tell my people not to use IE, some of them like it, and we also have some applications that claim to require IE. So I installed the latest IE11. After installing that, it wanted to install another ~7 critical security updates. Reboot and no... Read more

A:Suggestions / possibility of a clean, updated Win7 fresh install

Ok, made it thru moderation....

I was browsing other posts here, this one from Callender allowed the 3172605 July rollup to apply:
svchost.exe High CPU usage 98% of at least one CPU. - killing Windows update in services.msc

But after a reboot, now it wants to install 38 critical and 37 important updates. I just don't understand this.

This particular PC is a Asus Zenbook UX31A that had Win8 installed. User wanted Win 7, which I finally got to install by changing BIOS USB support to "AUTO". After the plain jane Win7 Pro 64bit install, I did have to add about eight drivers for Wifi, USB3, USB-ethernet, Graphics, etc. Could those drivers cause these very old updates to now show up as required? Oh, it is even asking for Service Pack 1 for x64 again. Grrrr.

This laptop is an HP Pavillion g6 i3 8G ram. Win 7 64.

"svchost.exe SYSTEM" is using 25% of my CPU all the time (not at boot, takes a few minutes before it grabs) and 254,140 k of ram.
The result is the CPU temperature keeps climbing and soon reaches 70C and the laptop underside becomes uncomfortably hot.

I have Googled and been told it is a Service that is consuming resources and I have stopped several that I dare (Computer>Manage>Services) but to no avail.

I have also run a rootkit killer "tdsskiller" but it found nothing.

Be most grateful for any ideas.

BTW, why am I told to login when "it" knows me anyway and I cannot find a login box but in the end it did not matter?!

Hi I have a xp pc with 2 user accounts, one for me and one for my wife. it is the main home pc for our family.
My wife recently bought a new vista lap top which has a wireless connection to the internet via a router. It is also networked to share files and printers on our home network.
she does not use the home pc anymore but still has the user account. We have removed all her email accounts from outlook express. However when the home pc is turned on she does not receive any emails on her laptop even though the home computer is not logged onto her user account. when we add all her account details back into outlook express on the home pc she recives days worth of emails.
If the home pc is turned off she receives emails on her vista lap top.
What we want is for her emails to just be downloaded on her lap top.
why is the home pc grabbing the mail when she does not have any email accounts on it?

My friend wants me to make him a flash signature with his runescape stats that update regularly. Now, I know I could have just told him to grab one off the net, however in school I need to make an example of using external data in a program and this is a good chance to hit 2 birds with one stone.. Basically, I don't want to have to edit a txt file by myself every time his stats change.

What I was wondering was how could I make a mini-program that would go to the runescape scores list, find his username, grab the integers, and save it in a .txt with the format I specify? I was thinking perl would be the language to use, but I still don't really know how this would work. I'm running XP pro, and Flash 8 professional is the program i'm feeding the external data.

Thanks in advance, if you want anymore info just ask.

I've recently been having trouble with some malware grabbing control of my computer. For some reason, the page I'm loading (and it varies) will be seized and the address box will read "http://www.kingofallresearch.net/..." My computer freezes up, the hard-drive is 100% engaged (constant reading/writing noise), and I can't CTRL+ALT+DEL or stop the process without unplugging the computer. Even if I unplug the cable going to my modem, the network icon in the QuickStart tray is lit up in both monitor icons. What the hell is going on?! I searched for any info about this URL, but there's nothing out there about them, other than their own site (one of those sleazy search/gambling/porn directories). A Whois search says they're located in New York.Anyway, when I start my computer back up, I always do a Spybot search (which turns up nothing), a Microsoft Antispyware search (ditto) and a other searches, but I have yet to see anything wrong. A:Kingofallresearch.net Grabbing My Computer

Hello and Welcome to the Forum First of all, HijackThis is unzipped and still in the tempfolder. I strongly advise you to unzip/extract hijackthis.zip. You can read here how to unzip/extract properly: http://metallica.geekstogo.com/xpcompressedexplanation.html Create a permanent folder and move hijackthis.exe into it. The reason is because hijackthis creates backups and when it's in your temp-folder it can be accidentally deleted. Click My Computer, then C:\ and then on Program Files. In the menu bar, File->New->Folder. That will create a folder named New Folder, which you can rename to "HJT" or "HijackThis". Now you have C:\Program Files\HijackThis. Put your HijackThis.exe there.=========================================We need to disable your Microsoft AntiSpyware Real-time Protection as it may interfere with the fixes that we need to make. 1. Dell Inspiron 1545 with 3Gb of memory running pretty much bare minimum but a svchost.exe process (network services) grabs pretty much all the available memory. It has been over 2Gb and grinds the laptop to a halt. I have tried killing the process and memory usage drops back to 750Mb but the process comes back within minutes and does the same thing. I turned off Automatic Windows Updates just in case but it still does it. Kill the process, seems to be no damage but it comes straight back.

It's my girlfriend's backup laptop and I know little about it but it is rarely used hence almost everything other than the anti-virus is disabled on startup - even the antiV is 'notify, don't auto update'

Is it a one-off bit of Microsoft 'brilliance'? - I've seen similar on XP where it had a backlog of updates to run and it thinks that's more important than actually letting someone us the PC; takes as long as it takes to do it's stuff then returns to normal. But this time I think maybe something else because it's everytime on power-up even when I've left it running overnight.

Any clues? If it needs to run then fine but is there anyway to cap it's memory usage? CPU usage is less than 5%

Thanks in anticipation.

I run my own mail servers on the shared hosting account with Hostmonster. I have the default or catch-all option enabled on one domain name, and have sent and received emails from a couple of hundred email addresses ("EAs") in the catch-all format. Ex: [email protected] where x = a variety of characters and y is my domain. I use Outlook 2007 with all the monthly patches applied.

Suddenly I am receiving spams to many of these [email protected] EAs.

It appears that some program on my pc is reading these EAs. I thought it was a one-time security breach, where at one time a program captured the EAs from my Outlook folders, safe senders list, etc. But it seems to be still installed on my pc, because new EAs recently used for the first time have been spammed.

I have run several anti-malware and anti-virus progs that have found nothing. Any suggestions on where to look to find and delete this program, please?

Then numerous websites across several different web hosting accounts were hacked. Only this one computer had this login info for so many accounts: either in ftp software, roboform, or personal document with password information.

Received notice from bank of attempted account change.

Say I'm on the internet (in IE7, Windows XP), I click a link (or right-click and open link in new window). Then I click back to the first window and continue reading. When the second page has opened (not even fully loaded), it becomes the active window, jumps to the front, grabs focus.

This doesn't happen all the time - I think it is dependent on just what is in that second window.

Similarly, when I start an application and then click back to my open webpage, when the app has loaded it becomes active. Again, this isn't the case with all software.
If I start the Crystal Reports software, it doesn't steal focus. However, if I start an existing Crystal file, it does.
If I start any of the MS Office programs, they don't steal focus. If I open an Excel file that contains macros (and displays the Disable / Enable macros options when started), then it does.

I have checked the Reg key: HKEY_CurrentUser > Control Panel > Desktop > ForegroundLockTimeout and the value is set to 200000 (decimal). The ForegroundFlashCount key is set to 2. And it's not a case of these things being reset by some 3rd party software.

So I'm guessing that the reg key doesn't extend to freshly opened items. I've messed about with these settings to see if I can fix the issue, but thus far it hasn't worked.
Oh, and I cannot install TweakUI on this machine, but I think the setting only changes that same reg key anyway.

So, is there any way to stop new... Read more

While its opening, no, programs make calls for last loaded profiles or prompt for new instruction, multi-part modules load; same thing for web pages except if you can confugure it to always open in the background, it won't. I thought if you center clicked a link in IE, it would open in a new Tab and stay in the background. Try that if you haven't, a new window is not going to work unless you have the background option but a new tab should stay out of the way.

It depends on what else is going on with the computer. What software are you running on your computer? What is the mfg and model of the Gateway? Who is your ISP and did they supply the Gateway or are you using one behind their Gateway?

Check the IPv4 settings for the adapter in question. Also you can go into Command Terminal and do a "ipconfig /all >ipconfig.txt". Make sure that you are in your Documents or Downloads directory when you run the command. Otherwise it will end up in the System32 folder. Paste the information from the text file to a post on this thread.

I have a Linksys wireless network using a Linksys Cable router in my home. Three computers are hooked up to it. One runs XP, one runs 2000 pro and one runs Win 98 SE. Hi Guys, I'm hoping someone can help me figure this out because it's driving me nuts that I'm clueless on coding stuff.

To keep this simple... I am looking to grab data that the National Weather Service issues out to the public and enter it into excel refreshing automatically on a daily basis.
Longer story......

I had an idea last year and brought it up to a few people… the only one who actually made it happen was a great guy with coding knowledge (Jeff fromMichiganWxSystem)

I asked if he can put together an automatic page which shows the station data but color code the daily departures.

Amazingly it didn't take him long. So he had available all Climo stations and showed all data including precip and snow and records. It was an awesome setup. http://www.michiganwxsystem.com/wxweb.php?run=climate&station=bdr

Apparently he had big health issues, never paid his hosting, and had always been off and on. He's been off now for months and owes a lot of money to get things back up.

Is this something you guys know how to grab the data from and setup an automatic retrieval ofthe data each day when the CLI comes out??

The CLI reports can be found here but I have absolutely no idea how it's entered into individual columns like he did here. . http://nws.noaa.gov/view/validProds.php?prod=CLI

Here's how it looked.

I appreciate anyone who trys to help with this.

We then receive loads of failed emails due to incorrect addresses, closed addresses, over quota etc.

Currently we have to search each failed email, get the email address and search for that on our member database.

This is very time consuming so I have spoken to our web designer who states that if we could get a list of the email address from the failed emails then he could bring up all the data we need.

So the question is can we automatically search the failed emails and create a list of the email addresses.

Me again, I'm afraid. You resolved my how-to-save problems in this thread:

I've started this new thread because of so many strange things happening since I powered-up at 5 am GMT today. I accept that some/all may just be that I've moved up from Win7, that many of the issues may just be changes introduced in Win8, that what I'm seeing now is how Win10 works but here we go, in no particular order:

(1) When I viewed the contents of a folder in Win7 and e.g. renamed a file or sub-folder, I'm sure the change appeared immediately. It doesn't now - I've to look at another folder and return; then the renamed folder is there.
(2) When I save a snip say to Desktop (temporarily), in Win7 I'd enter "snip" in the name box and it would bring up all the others snips saved. Useful if I'm saving a sequence of multiple snips. It doesn't now and I have to move down and find the snips already saved.
(3) I went to my Club Secretary folder. There's a number of folders there eg Committee / Subs / Legal and one is 'Other'. In Other is a folder that I wanted to move up to the main Secretary list. I first renamed it then dragged it into Secretary. I saw no change - as per (1). When I came back and looked again, it wasn't there. This happened again. I opened it and moved the five files there into the new folder 'Private Functions' that I'd created. I then went back, found that Functions was still there but when I tried to delete it, it... If you have the same setup you can take the plugins from the disk drive and route them to a laptop sized hdd and you can fit it on top of the hard drive and have the case still completely close

My computer just hung and it went back to normal and when it hung, i was doing something in IE and i heard a beep sound in the mobo. Could it be a virus?

A:Possibility of a virus?

Sometimes if your computer hangs and you press a few keys, the keyboard buffer will fill and cause some beeps. I don't suspect a virus given this info.

I had a HD few years ago.It is a Western Digital Caviar WD102AA.It has 10GB.It used to be part of my old computer that runs WinME which is now unusable and corrupted.

Me and my dad tried to make it a second HD in the PC as we know that is possible. We have cleaned it, scanned it with Avast antivirus, and formatted it.

How to install the second HD into one PC and show me how?

I'm using Intel Pentium 4,Asus Motherboard(i don't know what's the model),

The CPU in my PC (upgraded to Win 7 Home Premium x 64) Dell OPTIPLEX 520 is (Pentium D 2.8GHz) old and slow. The MoBo model Dell 0RJ290.
What CPU with max. performance is acceptable for this MoBo, if at all?
My goal is to speed up my PC on the cheap. Would Microsoft require a new product key or refuse giving out one, or the present key will suffice?
Thank you

A:CPU upgrade possibility?

You aren't going to want to hear this, but no new CPU in that system will make much of a difference.......and I doubt you will be able to "feel" any difference at all IF you can find parts for it. Time to save up for a new build that you will be happy with instead of sinking money into an old computer that won't be any better off than when you started.

Well my parents computer got a huge virus on it a while a go and they took it into get it fixed. It seemed to be working fine but since I know a little about computers I knew that there was too much junk and stuff on it. I formated it and put windows 98SE back on it but after awhile I got an exploer problem and windows didn't load. So i formated again and put windows XP on it. It works alot better just slow because we need more RAM. I ran a norton anti-virus check and nothing came up. So i thought that problem was fixed, but it wasn't now I get a message saying "some symantec product settings have been changes by an unauthorized program. this can indicate that an attacker or virus is attempting to diable your protection." Then it goes on about your settings will be changed back and you need to restart you computer. Click ok to do so. I click ok but nothing happens. the computer still boots fine but the message still comes up. WHAT DO I DO?

Hey guys, so I did something super stupid. My hard drive self destructed and had to get a new one. So instead of installing windows xp full version like I should have (I was out of it that day ) I installed a windows 7 upgrade version. Now of course when I tried to authenticate it wouldn't let me, hitting cancel after realizing what I had done it proceeded to install this very very basic version of windows 7 on the computer. I found my xp full version cd but can't downgrade because there was no previous version of windows installed and hence no windows.old file I can use. Can't format either as this is the only harddrive on my comp. What are my options? and please don't make me spend more money on the full version of windows

Hi all

I had to reset my t p link router TL WR1043ND, which is connected to a t p link modem TD 8717. Since then there is no security at all on the wi fi connection. I'm not paranoid but I would like a password at least. I have gone into and no where but no where is there a wireless tab so I can activate wep.

I have hooked the computer up with an Ethernet cable as I made the original changes with my tablet but this was not successful

The attachment shows the user interface screen.

Any help gratefully received.

A:no possibility to set wep tp link

The other day i received a phone call from a friend, who claimed they clicked something and now the computer was dead.

I drove out and found the computer infected with security tool. The item that suprised me was that the operating systems was Vista premium 64 bit edition.

To make a long story short i was able to remove the infection with malware bytes.

I also did a scan with Spybot S&D, also SuperAnti Spyware.

All scans turned out clean once i removed some items with malwarebytes.

I also ran a scan from ESET and the scan turned up nothing.

I ran ADSspy, and deleted two entires realated to the recylce bin.

Once finished I applied all immunizations from spybot search and destory, as well as javacools spyware blaster. Also i updated their Anti-Virus (McAfee... yuck). A final note was i installed Microsoft security Essentials, i might as well test it on more compuetrs than just mine.

The computer seems fine, my question is

Do root kits exist for 64 bit operating systems and if so, what tool should i run to try and find this.

Note: This computer is not at my disposal, this will be something i may check on the weekend.

You'll have to be patient with me here because my computer knowledge is minimal and I am incapable of performing the most rudimentary tasks.

I always have the latest free versions of Zonealarm and Avast, and both show nothing suspicious. I have taken online tests that scan my ports and these have given me the result that I have nothing to worry about.

Yesterday my computer was making a lot of 'vr-vm...vr-vm...vr-vm' noises whenever I was online so I did a Netstat -an to check what connections were established. The ports on my computer were all safe ones, but in my panic and computer retardation I read into the external addresses I was connected to, and there were ones starting with '69' and '87', and googling those numbers came up with ports that were traditionally used by attackers.

Since these were external addresses, is it a mere coincidence that some of the addresses started with these numbers? Do I have anything to worry about? Help.

A:Possibility I've been hacked / I'm being monitored in some way

I dont understand your post: you said you googled for the ip addresses and came up with port numbers?

I sometimes go to http://cqcounter.com/whois/ and type in ip addresses to see where they are located.
