HD audio driver fixed-no output audio installed

Q: HD audio driver fixed-no output audio installed

hello everyone:

i looked in on seven forums trying to find a fix for my driver problem, a lot of friends here were helpfull, i like to give back a little even if my pc is working fine now.

my pc is a desktop running windows 7 pro, motherboard esc a780gm-a, i had a problem with my hd audio driver, under my control panel audio device i only could see "no audio device installed" even when i installed it 10 times, i also saw on my right conner "no audio output installed"

i had a logitech camera installed.

the fix:
i found that my logitech camera was somehow in conflict with my audio device, it kep telling me "communication mic ???" something like that, well after uninstall the logitech camera software my audio came back and its now working perfect.

i hope this helps.

check if you have a camera with a built in mic, this might be your problem.
thank you all.

I am running Windows 7 Home Premium on my Dell Inspiron E1505.

I have had no problems with it for several years; however, recently my computer has booted with a red 'X' on my audio and tells me that "No Audio Output Device is Installed." I checked my Drivers and my High Definition Sound and 2 Base System Device drivers have Yellow Question Marks by them. I tried to update the drivers manually but it says Windows Cannot Find Support for your Base System Device and it says my High Definition Audio is already up to date. I have also tried uninstalling the drivers and rebooting Windows to let the system automatically search and update the drivers. This too has failed. I do not have my Windows 7 disc available at the moment to be able to do a clean install.

Any help you could give would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Guys,

About a month ago i had my new dell XPS 17' (L702x) Laptop Delivered.
After a few days (and many driver & software updates) i started to get a "stuttering" problem while listening to music/ watching videos etc. Also Noticed the computer being quite laggy (mouse cursor would skip around from time to time when moving it).

So i decided to do a reformat, free of all the useless dell addons etc.

- Successfully Reinstalled Windows 7 Professional Service Pack 1,

- Installed my basic drivers off the dell resource CD that came with the laptop.
-Intel PROSet Lan & WiFi Drivers,
-Realtek Audio Drivers,
-Nvidia Video Drivers,
-Renesus usb 3.0 host controller,
-Dell Quickset.

-Now that my network drivers were going, i downloaded and installed all relevant windows updates.

-Then, i installed the programs i commonly use:
-Zone Alarm Antivirus (from reading other forums McAfee may have been the cause of some of the issues i was having so i didn't want to re-install that just yet.)
-iTunes,
-vlc,
-Stereoscopic3D Player (yes, i got the 3D Screen + Nvidia Glasses upgrade )
-Magic Disk virtual disk drive
-winrar
-Microsoft office 2010 professional
-Steam & Origin (CS:S, CS:GO Beta, MW3, Crysis, BF3)

After doing all of this everything seemed to work fine. played music for hours without stuttering, watched a few movies, played a few gam... Read more

A:No Audio Output Driver Installed On System Startup/Reboot. HELP!

Too bad you did a disc reinstall, that invalidated the Dell recovery partition (accessed by F8 at power on) and you will not be able to use that for reinstalls if needed.

The Soundblaster could be a software enhancement to the RealTek as Dell has used this on some systems or it could have just been a mistake. You can look at the Dell invoice and see what came with the PC.

Did you try a System Restore back to a date prior to installing the SoundBlaster software? If not give that a try.

Back to the stuttering. That can be a driver issue (make sure you use the Dell supplied sound driver as we have found, on the Dell forum, that non Dell drivers either do not work or do not work correctly). You can check the Dell downloads to see if there is an updated driver.

You can look over the Dell manual install instructions, too, in case something was skipped during the install.

No sound.
Little speaker with the red 'x' appeared yesterday
I have gone through the whole update drivers circus to no avail, my laptop can't detect that it has speakers built in so it doesn't bother finding a driver for them.

This is where I am at:
- Intel Display Audio is the only driver installed for sound
- This means that sound works when the laptop is plugged into an HDMI
- When HDMI is not plugged in, the computer cannot find the built in speakers.
- I have Linux on this system and audio does not work there as well

I would call this a broken chipset, but the fact that the computer still processes audio with the HDMI cable attached is confusing me. Also, the 'audio board' for this laptop has 2 usb ports attached to it, and those both work fine.

Any help would be appreciated

Hello.

Im having the dreadful "No Audio Output Device is Installed" problem on my realtek audio.

It worked some months ago, but im in no position to do a roll back. Im sure the hardware is just fine, it works with Ubuntu.

The computer is a Dell Vostro 430.
My OS is win7 64bit.

I tried the newest Realtek driver suite, the recommended dell-drivers and some basic windows-drivers. Nothing makes the "No Audio Output Device is Installed" go away.

Any help is welcome.
Ive attached my sound-related reg. I believe my realtek device is 0001.

A:Realtek Audio: No Audio Output Device is Installed

The Dell driver is required, non Dell drivers will either not work or not work correctly.

First thing, is the Integrated Audio enabled in the BIOS? (F2 at boot up to enter Setup).

Second, on Dell's (and many others) if the motherboard chipset drivers were not installed, the sound device will not work. In this model there are Intel motherboard chipset drivers. Try installing them and then the Dell sound driver. Dell Drivers

I'm running a Dell XPS 420, which came with Windows Vista. I decided this morning that I was going to give Windows 7 a try, backed up some media on another PC, and did a completely fresh install.

Everything worked perfectly, I didn't even have to install any drivers. My native resolution was automatically correct, the sound worked, the internet worked, everything was dandy. It worked perfectly, and for the record, I really enjoyed it. I used it for several hours, getting used to the new features and whatnot.

I went to sleep for a few hours, and then went out for a while. When I came back, the sound had stopped working. It gave me no error at the time, it just didn't work. WinAmp wouldn't play my MP3s, Youtube videos were without audio, system sounds weren't playing, and yet, the volume was enabled and at an audible level of 67. My speakers were still connected properly, too.

I figured maybe a reboot was in order, and when I restarted, there was no sound still. Now, however, the speaker taskbar icon had a red x next to it, with the words "No Audio Output Device is installed." on the tooltip. I rebooted again and there was no change.

Using the Windows 7 trouble shooter, it says that "Hardware changes might not have been detected."

The odd thing is, this has happened to me before with Windows Vista. I wanted to perform a clean re-install of Vista, and when I did so, the sound worked perfectly for a few hours, before going out again. I would re-install Vi... Read more

A:Audio stops working, "No Audio Output Device Installed"

Hi filmtrauma, welcome to the forums.

While you have been asleep, Windows Update may have installed a new Sound driver for you which may have caused this error. Open Windows Update and click 'View Update History'....

You could try downloading the latest drivers from the hardware manufacturer, a lot are now supporting Windows 7 too..

Also, is your sound hardware plugged in (to the motherboard) securely? It's rare but i've dealt with some cases of hardware coming loose, might be worth a look. Another thing to check may be the temperature of the card, it may be getting overly hot due to a dust build up (might not be, i'm not 100% up-to-date on all sound hardware).

Hope this helps

I've spent countless hours trying to fix this. It started out with me wanting to enable the "stereo mix" option and so following a youtube video I proceeded to updating the driver using device manager > update driver and after restarting, I received this error.

I then downloaded the newest driver of the manufacturer website (realtek hd audio) realtek.com and installed it. Mind you, the stereo mix option did in fact show up, although I couldn't make use of any audio since I was getting the "no audio output device is installed" error.

All this time, I can still see the mic/line-in inputs, and headphone/speaker outputs in the sounds (control panel). I have tried uninstalling, reinstalling, and using the roll-back option for drivers. Although from control panel, I managed to uninstall the sound card software for realtek. Between all of this, after any sort of install or uninstall I also restarted my computer.

I downloaded the drivers from the HP site (PC manufacturer for my comp) and the Realtek site (sound card creator) and all of them are giving me the same results.

Furthermore, I even tried the System Restore and it wouldn't work complaining about an anti-virus when all of mine are already disabled. I checked what the System Restore would affect too and nothing for my driver was in there as far as I know.

I'm really not sure what my options are now, and it's sucks not having any sound.

Please help me out! Thanks!

Hello,My problem is this: I have an old  set of speakers such that the left speaker eventually stopped working.
Upon taking it apart, turns out the wire was just pulled away from the solder to the pins.I replaced the wire and it was good as new.
After a few months of use, (once in a while use) the left speaker "stopped" workingI later discovered that it still works, but is very very quiet.Such that, I have to set the right speaker balance to 9% and left to 100% to get the same volume from both speakers.I took it apart today, re-glued the wires back to the pins, no difference.
So I am wondering, with Dell Audio client, and my Dell xps 8700, which has a front and back 3.5mm audio jacks, can I set the balance to the front port to be my 100/9 for the speakers, and 100/100 for the back which connects to my headphones?
I took a look in the audio client, but it looks like no such option exists.Do I go looking for a new set of speakers or is there an easy option here?

A:Can you change the balance output on a specific audio jack output with Dell Audio?

I believe both jacks are controlled and connected to the same ports and software so directing one to do one thing and another to do something different isn't possible as far as I know.  Maybe someone will have a different answer, but I don't think Dell's software is advanced enough.

After following directions to fix my sound from these two sites:

https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us...n-device/35236d31-b181-4e35-b001-bfce1788ddc6

I sought help from my manufacturer. As expected, the only help they could provide was to tell me to re-install realtek hd audio device, and if all else fails factory reset my computer. After resetting my computer (3 times..) the problem was still not solved. My only option from there was to have it inspected for physical damages and send it in so that they could fix it. This, however, is not an option for me. I searched more for a solution by myself and read more forums and articles like these two:

This is a common problem in Vista and unfortunately it is usually solved by reinstalling the OS. When you said you did all the standard steps, did you follow the steps here. Did you try a System Restore before the problem occurred?

To rule out a hardware failure you could download a small linux distro, Puppy 5.7 is good. Try playing a sound file. If you do not get sound in Puppy then I would say your internal sound card has failed. You may want to look at purchasing a USB sound dongle good for earphones only.

Hi.
Long time ago, I play with upgrading HDD to SSD, GRUB and some other stuff and I failed and messed my computer up. Now my desktop is still using HDD and does not produce any sound. I tried to fix this problem by Googling "No Audio output device is installed" but I couldn't get it to work. It's been a long time for my desktop to have no sound and now I have decided to come to this forum and seek help to solve this problem.

Please help me fix this issue.
If there are any information that I should provide, please inform me.
Thanks in advanced.

As a note, I don't really care about upgrading to SSD anymore, but I want my computer to have sound.

A:No Audio Output Device is installed

Upgrading HDD to SSD, this means you changed the harddrive ? In this case you should do a clean install to the new Harddriver(SSD).
If you did put your HDD back, everything should do as before ?
GRUB sounds more Linux specific, did you try to install Linux ?
Maybe I read it all wrong I don't know but try to check on DEVICE MANAGER if you have installed the driver for your Sound device first.

Hi all.

Two days ago I have installed Windows 7. I've installed all the drivers, everything went fine except for the fact that there was no sound. Since then I have reinstalled the system, formatted disk C and re-installed it again and still there is no sound. My motherboard is ASRock G41M-VS and, as fat as I know, it has an onboard sound card.
In Device Manager under Sound, video and game controllers I have "High Definition Audio Device". No question or exclamation marks, nothing. When I go to properties it tells me that "This device is working properly". And my drivers are up to date. However, in Control Panel/Hardware and Sounds/Sound it tells me that no audio devices are installed.
I have found many solutions to this problem online, but none of them worked. I've also enabled onboard sound in BIOS (although there is no option there called "Integrated Peripherals" - and that's what most online guides told me to find. But there was something about onboard sound, so I enabled it but nothing changed) .But whatever I did there always was (and is) a little red cross on the speaker on the windows toolbar and when I choose it it says: "No Audio Output Device is installed". Windows 7's troubleshooter says that it can't identify the problem.
I'm not sure whether there is something really wrong or maybe I've missed something really simple and so I hope you'll be able to help me :)

i have a compaq presario f700 that operates with vista. over the last month, the sound has been hit or miss, sometimes working, sometimes not. for the last week, it has become a constant not!!!! the icon in the lower right hand corner has a red x and tells me i have no audio output device installed. i have gone to the control panel and checked under hardware and sound and the playback tab confirms there is no device installed. where did the device go? (i am prepared to apologize to the sound device if it will come back and promise not to upset it further) how do i reinstall or do i need a new sound card?

I JUST got my new laptop and there is no sound on my PC. I have the X380 thinkpas yoga. The icon in the lower right side says "No Audio Output Device is installed". When the icon is pressed it starts a diagnostics to resolve the problem but it doesn´t find anything. I´ve looked in the device manager and under the Audio inputs and outputs tap i only see a internal mic device installed, no speakers.

Hello, I have owned a Compaq Presario SR5710Y Desktop PC for quite some time now with no issues. Recently however, the audio has stopped working. It occurred with no clear signs or reason, i.e. no power outage, new software installation, etc.   I have thoroughly tried to troubleshoot the problem with every solution guide I have found concerning this issue (feel free to ask more but most likely I have done it). Sadly, I have never kept system restore points so that was out of the question. I have done a factory reset also to no avail.  There are some specific details that seem to be specific to my case however. In my first attempts to troubleshoot, I simply uninstalled all my drivers (by removing from programs and uninstalling from device manager) and then restarted  my computer in hopes that Windows would reinstall the original sound drivers. No such instance happened. There was simply no driver in the device manager or even a tab for "Sound, video and game controllers"  Similarly, when I attempted to install either the latest sound driver directly from the  manufacturer site (Realtek) or the original driver (found on the HP product page), upon restart the driver would not appear in the device manager (again there was not even a tab for "Sound, video and game controllers"). Using Recovery Manager to reinstall the driver also had the same result upon restarting. When installing in all these cases there were no failures. Th... Read more

I have a dv7-7270ca notebook and since a restart due to windows 8 updates I now have a red x on the speaker icon.  I installed the HP driver for this model but it has an error in device manager that says:Windows cannot verify the digital signature for the drivers required for this device. A recent hardware or software change might have installed a file that is signed incorrectly or damaged, or that might be malicious software from an unknown source. (Code 52)Any help with fixing this would be greatly appreciated.  I did run an audio test using the shut down-F2 and passed and could hear the sounds in the test.  Thank You!!

I've managed to find the way to boot Windows 8 without requiring valid digital signatures (error code 52).  Seems the HP IDT High Definition Audio CODEC is not in compliance with Microsoft... interesting in itself, but until there is a new updated driver available this is what I have to do every time I boot the computer to have my sound back... a bit of a pain but when lWindows is loaded follow these steps. * Go to PC Settings - General - Scroll down to Advanced Start Up - Troubleshoot - Advanced Options - Start Up Settings - on the next screen use 7 or F7 to Disable Device Signature Enforcement Love having my sound back, just a shame HP couldn't help.  Hope this helps some of you experiencing the same problem as me.

I have tried updating, reinstalling, downloading new drivers....nothing works to get sound on my laptop. At first I could just update the driver, restart and get sound for awhile....then have to do it all over again. Now I'm just confused...I need a new driver that will keep working. (ADS Instant HDTV pci). Can someone walk me through this?

If the hardware is disappearing from Device Manager and Windows is showing "no device installed", then most likely the hardware is failing/faulty. Windows can only install drivers for hardware that is detected. If the hardware is not detected, drivers can't/won't install and are unnecessary.

HALLLPPP! Ok, so I mananaged to get my Old HP PSC 500 to work on my HP Pavillion a6030n with VISTA... gave up on the scanning part totally. Bought and installed a new I/O card to do this and tinkered for days!

NOW, I realize I have NO SOUND... searched all of the threads and experimented with various and sundry but to no avail. The speakers were old JBL PROs had been working... changed them out for some old BOSTON speakers (also working on old Gateway) still getting the "No Audio Output Device Installed" and don't even get a "Sound and Video" portion in Device Manager!

Tried downloading Realtek AC97-Audio-Codec-driver-A397 as it was mentioned as a fix in another thread. No joy! Will installing another driver help this? I can't see why the card would be damaged as the previous install didn't go near it.

I am not a total novice but small words would be helpful as my brainmatter is fried and not a lot of hair left on the head.

Morning all. I'm hoping someone out there will be able to assist me, first a little back story. I recently bought a Dell Latitude E5520 laptop running Windows 7, 64-Bit, 4GB RAM, 500GB HDD.
I received the laptop on Wednesday last week. The first thing I did was to update Windows and all the Dell Software. The laptop was working well without any problems. However earlier this week, when I tried to watch a video on YouTube, only to find there was no sound. Upon further investigation I found the speaker icon is shown with a Red "X", and when I hover the mouse over it,  a message of "No Audio Output Device Installed" would appear. This has only happened within the last few days because I watched some football on the laptop at the weekend using the internal speakers for match commentary. As far as I'm aware there's been no software installed that would have lead to this problem.
Working with computers a lot, I know my way around, so I then went to Device Manager to look for any faults. I looked under the "Sound, Video and Game Controllers" and found only Bluetooth Audio was listed, which I thought was a little strange. However under the "System Devices" section I found that the HD Multimedia Audio Device had a yellow exclamation mark over it. Selecting it revealed it had failed to start (Code 10). Suspecting this was the root of my problem, I tried to Update the Driver. After a while of checking online, the messag... Read more

Hi,

I have a laptop on which Vista Home Premuium, Service Pack 2 is installed.
Sometimes after a reboot, my sound symbol is covered by a red/white crosss with the message "No audio output device is installed".

In Device Manager, sound is not listed so updating/installing driver there is not an option.

The problem usually corrects itself after a cold boot but now even this is not working!!

Please help.

A:No audio output device is installed

I'd take that as a sign that the device is failing/has failed...and just try a cheap physical sound card.<<In Device Manager, sound is not listed so updating/installing driver there is not an option>>I don't believe that, since Windows will install some defaults whether there is a sound controller installed or not. Sound, video, and Game Controllers should appear in Device Manager. Installing drivers installs the audio controller.I would ensure that I had attempted to install the correct drivers...before I wrote the audio function off.Louis

Your description of the hardware in your post sounds like a device manager properties dialog. Try to update driver software through device manager (right click my computer >> properties >> device manager (navigation dependent on OS)).If you right click the device in the device manager and select "update driver software", that could fix it. You can also try uninstalling, then re-installing the device through the device manager.

Oh, I just noticed the name of that text file from dxdiag so you probably weren't in the device manager. Go to the device manager and try what I posted above.
