I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I've been through a number of threads, much older, and haven't found a solution, hoping someone can help.   I recently bought a Yoga C740, 500GB SSHD, 12GB RAM.  64 bit Windows 10 OS.  Intel Core i7 10th gen processor. Also purchased the Wireless YOGA optical mouse that has both USB and Bluetooth connectivity.   Problem - that YOGA mouse freezes up for 5-30 seconds completely randomly.  It'll do it after it has sat for a minute, or right in the middle of active use, so it doesn't seem to be a power/sleep setting.  It's not powering off, it's just not reacting in any way with the PC. Eventually, it just starts working again, maybe for 20 minutes, maybe for 30 seconds.   I initially thought it was a Bluetooth issue, but discovered the same thing happens when connected via USB dongle, no improvement at all. I have other Bluetooth and USB keyboards, mice, no issues with any of them, they all work normally. I've disabled/uninstalled/reinstalled/updated every driver I can think of, no improvement.   With all that considered, it seems to be specific to this YOGA optical mouse, and I'm struggling to identify/correct the issue.  Has anyone encountered this, any suggestions for fixing it?  Hoping maybe I'm just missing a buried setting somewhere specific to this mouse.  Thanks

Hello, So I just bought a Yoga C740 15 inch (model number: 81TD0010MX). When I'm using it on battery power the fan occasionaly kicks in at a relatively low noise level under light use. Browsing, watching streams, using word, etc. This is ok in my opinnion although I think that on my light use it should be expected to be even more silent. When I do these same tasks with the power cable plugged in the laptop becomes insanely noisy at times. It seems that fan curve is absurdly aggressive and even under low loads it's very clearly audible. This basically prevents the use of this laptop in public places if I need to recharge my battery (like the library where I study almost daily). I have no notable background apps running (anti virus, etc.) and on idle after starting the pc my processor usage is around 1-3%. And even when idling like this the fan occasionaly speeds up if I have the AC adapter plugged in. This kind of fan behaviour doesn't seem normal to me. Is there any fix to this or can I somehow customize the fan curve through BIOS for example? EDIT: I just looked this issue up a bit more and found this video on Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ptg5Uy4MD1AThen I went to power options and there were no options to change the processor power management or many other options that were available on my previous Asus laptop and clearly on some other Lenovo laptops. Why on earth has this options been removed and can I get it back somehow?

Recently got the Lenovo Yoga C740 and initially got it to charge at 100%. However, I've since noticed it drop to 98% with "plugged in, not charging". I'm hoping it's some sort of setting I've accidentally switched off and I just need to switch back on. Does anybody have any suggestions how I can do this? Whereabouts is the setting in Lenovo Vantage (if any) to get it to start charging again? Conservation mode is switched off and I have no idea where to find the charging threshold and whether it's on or not (I saw this term on another thread). Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!!!

Hi, My new Lenovo yoga c740 14 inch with i7 10510U work great but whenever its plugged in, it gets very hot and if I am using it, the fan gets very loud, even though the CPU usage is 1-2%. I don't play any games, mainly use for uni to research and write essays and make notes. So when I am using it, it never gets put into a high workload. It's a bit worrying since I read that if the laptop gets hot, it can damage the inside components. I also found out that in this laptop, only one of the fans work and the other is for aesthetic. This is a very new laptop and I don't want to open it up to check for dust on the fan or the battery etc(as seen in youtube videos), since I don't know much about PC's and don't know if this would do anything to the warranty.

Hello, My Lenovo Yoga C740-15IML laptops screen brightness just got stuck. None of the brightness controls work and when I move the sliders nothing happens. I tried Lenovo Vantage to see if there are any updates but there are none. Then I checked for Intel's driver updates and found that there is one for the UHD Graphics but my pc won't let me install it since it is not a driver provided by the pc manufacturer. I also tried to disable and re-enable the screen via device manager but nothing happened. I've done multiple restarts on the pc. So now my laptops screen is stuck on 100% brightness and it won't change. Regards,VkTsU

Hi, i bought yoga c740 16gb i7 and everything was perfect and i enjoyed everything until now. Few days back i noticed that fans are always running and i mean always (even when i am in bios). Temperature during idle is around 40 C, so i do not think they have much to cool down. Quiet mode, intelligent mode - nothing helps.  I am very disappointed because this is very luxurious laptop for me and currently is much louder like my old 200? acer. Do you have any ideas how to fix this or is it hardware issue?

Brand new Yoga C740 here. After first Windows 10 boot and setup, touchpad is not recognized, nor disabled or hidden on device manager.I tried a hard reset refreshing windows 10 and again touchpad not even recognized. I know touchpad works because in Bios, cursor is moved and buttons works, so doesn't seem to be a faulty hardware. I was checking the drivers section for the laptop but there is no driver for touchpad there. So what's brand is the touchpad of the Yoga C740? Any alternative driver i can use for it on Windows 10? Thanks in advance

A:Brand New Lenovo Yoga C740 14 IML - Touchpad not working in Windows 10

So the touchpad driver is shown to be unrecognized (with a yellow exclamation mark icon) in the device manager right?Try to uninstall that driver and restart your device. Windows should fall back to the generic driver. Then you can find a suitable driver afterwards. Prepare a USB mouse for that, in case things go wrong.

[email protected], hopefully someone can help.  I got a Lenovo Yoga 3 Pro 13 80HE004LGE for half a year.  Intel Core M-5Y70 1.1 GHz + Intel HD Graphics 5300, Kerntakt: 100-850 MHz, Dual-Channel, 20.19.15.4444 I used it with an external DELL 24" screen in extension setup WUXGA 1920 x 1200 pixel. Worked without any problem. Now changed the screen: DELL 27" (Dell U2713HM) . This screen should be able to provide WQHD 2560 x 1440 pixel but max I can choose in the set up (Win 10) is Full HD 1920 x 1080 pixel. I did the full program; 1. deleting drivers (Graphic and Monitor) reinstalled newest versions provided from Lenovo/Dell website,2. tried 3 different cables (HDMI and DVI), no differences :-(3. Installed Dell SetUp tool4. Installed intel set up tool (Could enter the high resolution manually here as personal setting, but does not work either) Nothing helped :-( screent stays on 1920 x 1080 :-( This 27" screen was running connected to a MacBook Pro without any problem in max. resolution 2560 x 1440 before.  Due to my research the Intel HD 5300 should be able to handle 2560 x 1440. Looking forward to helpful repliesDennis

Hello,  I ordered a Yoga C740 14" - Mica and a ThinkPad Pen Pro (X1 Yoga) when I asked a sales rep. if they are compatible, he replied yes but now I cannot make the pen work. I would like to know if the two items are compatible indeed, and if yes, if there is a manual or video to help me sync them. In case they are not compatible, what should I do, considering that this was a mistake due to misinformation from the sales rep.? Thanks a lot, Melina ps: I received the items a couple of weeks ago and I realised that the pen doesn't work last week.

Hello!

Just bought Lenovo yoga c740. Unfortunately there seems to be something wrong with usb... Transferring data via usb takes 1,5 hours instead of 30s. The transfer speed is really slow and dropping to 0 almost all the time.
I'm really frustrated with this. Bios is updated. Levovo was suppose to make my work day easier (shorter), now because of the usb-issues my work day is 10 hours longer.

Could this be related to firmware etc?

A:Yoga C740 USB transfer rate near to 0

Welcome to the Community.

First off, make sure everything else is up to date. New computers generally need to take a lot of updates besides the bios. You can use Lenovo's Vantage to do that automatically or go to the support tab, above.

It might help to know more about what you're transferring and to what.  For example, "a 100mb document file from the hard  drive to a Sandisk USB-3 flash drive."  That's going to be different than, say, "a 32GB video file from a networked computer via WiFi to a WD MyBook external drive connected via a USB-3 cable," which actually does take a very long time, in my experience.

I have taken the liberty to add the Yoga model to the title of this thread.

I am having an issue with this particular model and aftermarket displays. I have been able to verify the issue on about 40 Acer C740 machines. As part of a school program, students were issued this model Chromebook and frequently break the displays. I have ordered several different "compatible" replacement screens. I have found the screen that was shipped with this machine originally (N116BGE-EA2 Rev.C1) works without issue. However, any of the "compatible" screens do not work. I have tried N116BGE-EA2 Rev.C2 and C3, N116BGE-E32 Rev.C1 none of which work. Unfortunately, I am unable to locate the exact orignal screen anymore and I can only find compatible replacements.  As a test, I noticed if I pull the M.2 drive and attempt to boot, I do not get any video distortion. I have installed a blank M.2 drive, and at the point of restoring ChromeOS(fromUSB) the video distortion shows up (does not show prior to the verification step of the OS installation). This leads me to beleive the issue actually resides in the software and not the hardware, as the issue only shows when booting from an installed ChromeOS for this model. Has anyone else experienced this issue, and is there a recommended fix? The only fix I found so far is to source model N116BGE-EA2 Rev.C1 displays (but I can no longer find this model).

I have a question regarding the processor.  I am very confused and have been told multiple things...such as "they're the same" and then I've been told "they're 2 different processors" Can someone please explain what the ACTUAL difference is between these two if any or if the ARE indeed the same thing?  Processor states: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-10510U CPU @ 1.80GHz 2.30GHZ how is this the same or different from  Processor: 10th Gen Intel® Core? i7-10510U (1.80GHz, up to 4.90GHz with Turbo Boost, 4 Cores, 8MB Cache). I would greatly appreciate any help you can give me.

A:Question about YOGA C740 Processor Configuration

The Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-10510U is a 10th gen CPU with the specs shown on Intel's product page  below Intel® Core? i7-10510U Processor 8M Cache, up to 4.90 GHzhttps://ark.intel.com/content/www/us/en/ark/products/196449/intel-core-i7-10510u-processor-8m-cache-... The only reference I see to 2.30GHz is relating to the Configurable TDP-up Frequency, which is defined by Intel as follows Configurable TDP-up Frequency is a processor operating mode where the processor behavior and performance is modified by raising TDP and the processor frequency to fixed points. The Configurable TDP-up Frequency is where the Configurable TDP-up is defined. Frequency is measured in gigahertz (GHz), or billion cycles per second. Configurable TDP options mean the computer manufacturer can modify the TDP and Base Frequency of the CPU within the specific values posted on the product specification page https://ark.intel.com.     In essence that means that Lenovo may have chosen to increase the base frequency of the CPU from Intel's default base frequency of 1.80GHz up to 2.30GHz.  Cheers,

Greeting All: My organization utilizes varying YOGA convertibles as our company standard. We currently have Yoga 920s & C930s in circulation, with a shipment of C740s coming soon.  We've had an absolute heck of a time trying to find a robust usb-c docking station/port hub. For our light users, it seems any of the dongles on Amazon that support a single HDMI, USB-A, and power passthrough (~$25-$35) work fine. However we've gone through several port heavy setups that keep failing. Sometimes it's an inability to detect several monitors, other times it's the power cutting out. Generally, we're looking for:2 USB-A USB-C Power Passthrough2 display outputs. HDMI/DP/Mini-DP are all fine, VGA not preferable. 4k support not necessary. And that's really about it. We don't have much use for ethernet ports, sd readers, or other such. We've been trying docks in the ~$90-$150 pricepoint to not much success. Are we just asking for too much output from a single Usb-C? Has anyone had success in a hub for Lenovo Yoga docking stations that fit our parameters? I know there is a first party box Lenovo offers, however at $270 it is a bit steep. Thanks!

I purchased my Yoga C740-14IML Laptop in January 2020. Since I used a separate keyboard (USB), a second monitor (HDMI), and a mouse (USB), I purchased an ANKER USB-C hub. This did work through my second USB-C port (not the power port) unti I updated the BIOS. I believe at this point that port stopped working. When the hub is connected to that port, none of my peripherals are recognized or operate. It does work when plugged into the power USB-C port, which is great, but I still need to charge my laptop, and this is not a charge-through hub (also, one of the ports should simply not work). I contacted Lenovo customer care, who told me to do a factory reset or send it to one of the service centers. I'd rather do the latter, since I have one close to my office, but I was hoping to avoid both of those options if possible. I have checked that all my drivers are up to date. I'm simply baffled that this happened with my new machine. Any help would be appreciated.

Do NOT update your BIOS if you have a C740!!!! I recently updated my BIOS to the latest version on my YOGA C740 and now the fans start to really get going even when just typing stuff in Word. Wasnt like this before the update. Also it is getting warmer than before and the battery life decreased from over 14h to unter 8h -.- I asked the support for the BIOS version I had before (BNCN34WW) but the guy couldnt find that one and was only able to give me a slightly older version (BNCN33WW). If anyone knows where I can get the 34 version of the BIOS, PLEASE let me know!! Lenovo really disappointed me with this one. Every single bit of trust I had is now gone; I just can't believe how you can screw this up so bad. I expect this to be fixed soon, since I already heard the same issue from a few other ppl.

Is there any protection from using third party docking stations? The docking station has 85W, it should be enough, because original power adapter has only 65W.

I've updated BIOS and all available drivers via Lenovo Vantage. Battery safety feature is off.

Please, could you help?

Thank you.

Hi, I'm surprised I cant reach 4K resolution on Yoga 900s connected to 4K TV? Why? I'm using USB-C to HDMI adapter. What should I do to get 4K? I can get only 1080p on TV as a main display. On clone display mode resolution is set to 4K but in fact in TV is 1080p.

I'm using a USB-C to HDMI adapter (using the DisplayPort over USB standard, not an older DisplayLink type) to use an external display on the Yoga 730 and it has issues when running as 2 separate displays (everything works fine when mirroring or using only the external display). If you set the graphics settings to "extend these displays" the Windows 10 shell seems to wedge itself (can interact with already running apps, but cannot start new apps or use the taskbar/start menu) and the bottom of each display flickers (looks like a flickering ghost taskbar). I don't suspect a hardware issue with the adapter because it works perfectly in mirroring or single-display mode; instead I suspect a graphics driver bug. Others that use this adapter on other PCs have no problems. I'd love to try a newer version of the Intel 620 graphics driver but it won't install (it says it's incompatible with this system and to contact the computer manufacturer)... Lenovo's customized version of the driver is 4 months old. I have all the latest drivers installed via Lenovo Vantage, Intel's web interface (it only installed newer Wifi and Bluetooth drivers), and Windows Update. The laptop is running Windows 10 1803 17134.112 (2018 Creator's update).

Hey guys, I recently purchased a micro hdmi to hdmi cable for an external display monitor with my Yoga 3 Pro however after connecting the laptop to the external display, I receive a 'No Signal' message on the external display. When the cable is not plugged into the external display, it says 'Check Signal Cable' therefore I know the external display can recognize when it is plugged into the laptop. I have read other forums regarding cutting back the plastic on the micro hdmi cable for further extension of the male end into the micro hdmi port however continue to experience 'No Signal' messages. Also in my display settings the laptop will not detect another monitor and graphics properties states there is only the single laptop display. Any suggestions will help, thanks!

Hi, I have a Yoga 2 13' i5 with 8 gb ram, currently running on windows 10. I would like to purchase an ultrawide external monitor for it : https://tweakers.net/pricewatch/437153/lg-29um57-p-zwart/specificaties/ On the internet I read several scary messages about the micro hdmi not supporting the 2580X1080 resolution, or the HD graphics not supporting it. Does someone know whether my laptop will support the Ultrawide resolution? I do only need it for Officework and internet browsing, not for movies or games. Thanks

Hi all  I have a Yoga 300 laptop running Windows 10. I notice that I can connect to some projectors via HDMI only to broadcast power points presentations in Presentation / Preview mode. I cannot see to broadcast my screen (a web page for example).  I have just acquired a new projector and cannot display anything at all to it. Any thoughts to correct this?  I am sure I am making a simple mistake someplace.Chris

Hi guys, I'm new to the forums, but I've had my Yoga 900 for about a year now. Love it! I recently acquired a Dell 4k monitor and I want to use it as an external display for my 900. I have a USB-c to Displayport adapter. However, I'm a bit nieve on the CPU & GPU requirements for 4k. So, will the 900 do the job? Will it work via the USB-c out to Displayport?  Thanks in advance for your thoughts

A:Can Yoga 900 drive a 4k external display?

Also, down the road a bit I'm going to be looking to purchase a tower to run this display. I'm a big fan of Lenovo's products, so any advice on which Lenovo tower I should be looking at would be appreciated. I don't need anything too awesome. Just a basic tower that can handle everyday family computing @ 4k/60.
